Previous ChapterNext ChapterAs the clock struck ten on the dot in the morning, Princess Celestia woke up with a start. Her sun was already high over the horizon, flooding her royal chambers with its gentle rays. Peculiar. She didn’t recall raising the sun this morning. Throwing off the sheets and blankets she got off the bed and trotted to a calendar she kept on a nearby desk. It seemed that today was . . . Sunday? How could it be? Was she really asleep for six days?Celestia dashed outside through the ornamented doors of her bedroom and galloped to the first place she could think of: the Royal Library. As she reached her destination she froze. In the very middle between the bookcases and the scrolls scattered around, was a blue, motionless figure of her younger sister. She looked drained as she lay there on the floor.“Luna!?” she cried as she ran across the room and kneeled by the other alicorn. “Luna, are you alright?”Princess Luna opened her cyan eyes.“Thank goodness!” Celestia breathed a sigh of relief. Never before had she felt so concerned about her little sister. “How long were you here?”“Five . . . for five days,” Luna replied not louder than a whisper. She was exhausted because of the energy she’s been using to raise and set both sun and moon.Celestia sighed and nuzzled her sister with a small concerned smile. A vivid golden mist surrounded her horn, then the magic poured down on Luna, transferring vital energy to empower her. After a while Luna seemed much better – she managed to stand up and hug the only pony she cared for and loved.“Sister,” Luna looked up. Celestia looked down at her then frowned noticing Luna's determined face. “I need to travel to the future. Only then I can see when Shadow Stalker gets his horn!”Celestia looked at her sister with surprise. The younger alicorn seemed really concerned, but also dedicated to do what had to be done. Just as Celestia was going to answer her sister, a strange red and black aura appeared in the library before them. Celestia and Luna stared with shock and fear seeing the strange aura. The two sisters stood up ready to take on this strange new anomaly and what ever comes from within it."Get ready," Celestia whispered quickly. " This could be an enemy that we have never faced before so we have to be ready for anything that it throws at us." Celestia said standing in position ready. Luna nodded and slowly stood up with her horn sparkling in magic. As the strange aura ball grew intense, the sisters were ready for a possible attack. But instead of an attack, a small dark blue pony falls out of the sphere and lands into a pile of scrolls. Luna and Celestia gasped in shock their magical auras popped away from the surprise. Carefully the two sisters approached the mystery pony that popped out of nowhere. Celestia concentrated as her horn started to glow again, nearing the tip to the stranger. This pony looked familiar to Celestia as she neared him.Hmm, I think I have seen this pony before but he looked like he was only six years old. Drat, why can’t I remember who this pony is and why does it have a unicorn’s horn and pegasus wings? While Celestia was lost in het thoughts, Luna recognized the mystery pony that passed out on the Star Swirl The Bearded scrolls. Celestia poked her glowing horn into the mystery pony’s face trying to get some answers out of him to find out where in Equestria he was from."Where are you from, mystery pony." Celestia asked sternly. But her face revealed a curious scowl. "I don't recognize you so why are you in my castle and how did you pass the guards?" Celestia's glowing horn was now closer to the pony's face that she can see his eyes. Without warning, Luna tackled her sister. The tackle turned into a ridiculous rollout through the doors out on to the street in Canterlot."What the?" Celestia gasped turning to see her sister glaring at her. "Luna, what is the meaning of this?" Luna's horn began to glow with a glare. Celestia stood up her own horn glowing to defend herself from Luna's sudden anger. They were just ready to argue when the strange pony slid to a stop before them."Stop it Mom, Auntie Celestia! You're scaring me!" The two sisters stared at one another then back at the mystery pony with their jaws to the street in shock. They couldn't even squeak their dismay as the younger dark alicorn shook with fear."S-s-Shadow Stalker?" Luna spoke first, finally working her jaw and voice. "Is that you my son? I-I can't believe I have been in Canterlot for two years." She said with shock at herself for being so neglecting. But then she noticed the tiny horn on her son's forehead. "But when did you get your horn? You didn't have one when I last saw you." She groaned placing her hoof over her eyes. "I was so worried you would never get your horn, which was concerning me deeply because if you didn't get your horn, how would you rule with me and your auntie?" Luna said taking in a deep breath form her fast rant.Shadow Stalker sat down trying to process what her last sentence was. He rubbed his head thinking hard. Luna chucked then leaned down and started nuzzling him. Shadow giggled smiling up at her. That was when Luna saw the drying blood on his muzzle. Luna gasped seeing this and immediately used her magic to heal up the cut. When she was done, she breathed heavily feeling drained suddenly by a simple healing spell. She used her hoof to wipe off the drying blood off his face. Then she saw that her little boy also had something on his flank, from his position it was hard to tell what it was. Luna just pushed that tiny detail out of her mind but then a small blast of wind blew his tail away from his flank. She gasped seeing that he now has his cutie mark. When Luna got a good look at the cutie mark, she could see that it was a dark blue lightning bolt on a shield with wings. She blinked at the strange mark. She wondered how Shadow got it."Um, Shadow, sweetie. How did you get your cutie mark?" Luna asked. Shadow jumped then looked at his flank. He grinned a huge smile. He followed his mother and aunt back into the library as he started to tell his tale.Well, today when I was at Flight Camp, a young foal was being picked on by some mean Pegasi. So I stepped in and told them to stop bullying her and then I felt something come out from my head and when I touched my head I felt a horn which made me happy and then the bullies realized that they were dealing with royalty. So they knew they couldn't match my magic, but they thought my speed was easy to beat. They challenged me to a race and when the race started I flew fast and that's when they knew they could not beat me and when I gained enough speed I did a sonic boom and my coat and mane color were in the sonic boom and then a cutie mark appeared. It was a dark blue lightning bolt on a shield with wings on it, see!"Shadow completed pointing at his flank and gasping for breath from the quick speech. He was sweating from reliving those moments that just happened only five hours prior. Luna smiled with pride; she grabbed her son and wrapped her arms around him nuzzling his cheek. Shadow smiled feeling the embrace and started to nuzzle his mother's cheek in return smiling. It felt nice having his mother's arms around him again, is had been two years since he last saw her.During the hug, Luna instinctively touched her horn with her son's. Except doing that was a huge mistake. Both horns glowed in a bright light, suddenly the two alicorns were sent flying in opposite directions. Celestia gasped a t this, Shadow's new magical abilities weren't easily controlled and the touching of horns caused a magical implosion! Princess Luna flew into a nearby bookshelf, after the crash she groaned rubbing her head then looked up as big, thick spell books fell on top of her in a pile of avalanched books. Shadow was sent flying into his Mom's throne in the next room. He slammed into the dark throne, knocked out form the crash.Celestia ran immediately to her nephew seeing him sitting haphazardly on the throne. As she got closer to him in a panic she noticed that he was bleeding form the impact on the decorative carving on Luna's throne. She quickly started casting a healing spell on him hearing his groans being uncomfortable. As for her sister, she had to be taken to the Canterlot hospital for healing treatments from the magic exhaustion and the pain in her head from the force of the spell and the spell books.Celestia sat by her sister with worry and in tears. Not only in worry but in fear. She can't raise the moon. Only Luna could, only her magic can raise the moon. She leaned forward to nuzzle her sister's cheek."Luna, Luna, wake up please. Luna, you have to wake up." She whispered frantically staring at the star of sunset. "I need you, sister. Equestria needs you. I can't raise the moon, I never had to before I'm affraid that I will mess it up and the sun can't stay up forever cause that would take a lot of energy. What should I do?" She whispered. As she wept she heard tiny hoof steps coming from behind her. She turned around to see that the source of the steps was from her young nephew. She blinked with shock seeing his horn glowing with a dark blue aura that matched his mothers. Her tears dried up she watched what he was doing. He was concentrating hard as sweat beaded his face, he grunt with effort as his horn sparks brighter. She turned feeling a new magic behind her. She turned to the windows watching her sun finishing it's decent. She gasped seeing the moon appearing over the horizon, rising up taking the Sun's place in the sky. She stared with astonishment turning watching the moon rise until it stopped it's ascent. Shadow grunted then panted with exhaustion as horn stopped glowing. Shadow felt on his belly panting breath from the amount of magic he just used."How?" Celestia asked out loud. Shadow panted looking up at her with a tired smile."Mom . . . taught me." He panted pressing his face to the cold floor. His mother and father told him that one day he would raise the moon on his own one day. And now . . . he had finally done it.
