Chapter One: The Incident.
"DAD!" Firestarter cried out to his dad as he hung onto the side railing for dear life.
"FIRE! HOLD ON OK! I'M COMING!" Shouted Blackwings.
It had only been thirty minutes into the tour of the E.R.F.S (Equestrian Research Facility of Science) and a slight earthquake had happened,causing Firestarter to get thrown off the walkway when his father,Blackwings was recovering from the earthquake. The facility was built in an area prone to earthquakes so it wasn't a surprise that the earthquake had happened.
"DAAAAD! I'M SLIPPING!" Firestarter cried as he started to slowly lose his grip.
Fire looked to the left and saw his dad grab a metal pole then gallop back to him.
"FIRE! GRAB THIS!" Blackwings shouted.
Fire reached out to grab the pole with his mouth when the building felt an aftershock and Fire lost his grip and started falling.
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!" Fire screamed before landing in a giant bucket like building that had a lava like substance in it.
"FIRE! NO!" Blackwings yelled as he watched his son land in the vat.
TWO HOURS BEFORE THE INCIDENT
"Cmon dad! We are gonna be late!" Shouted an excited Firestarter as he jumped around his house living room.
Blackwings came through to the living room with Fire's mother,Grace and trotted up to Fire.
"Woah,Slow down there kiddo! We have plenty of time" Laughed Blackwings as he ruffled Fires mane.
Grace laughed.
"He was just like you when you were his age. Excited about everything." Grace said with a laugh.
"Oh stop it honey." Blackwings mumbled as he blushed.
Fire pretended to vomit as he stuck his tongue out.
"Ewww stop saying so much lovey wuvey things and lets go!" Fire shouted.
Grace and Blackwings laughed.
"Fine,Fine. Lets go." Blackwings chuckled.
"YAY!!!" Fire shouted in glee.
Blackwings kissed Grace on the cheek and went outside to see Fire bouncing around outside.
"Be careful now!" Grace shouted to the two as she waved.
"Honey,Stop. You worry to much." Blackwings smiled.
"It's for a reason you know" Grace sighed as she kissed both Fire and Blackwings.
Fire got onto his fathers back as he liked going on his back. That and Fire just hated walking to the train station.
"Bye you two! See you later!" Grace shouted.
"Bye mum!" Firestarter shouted as he waved to his mother.
"Goodbye dear!" Shouted his father.
THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE THE INCIDENT
It was only a one hour trip from the train station to the research facility. Firestarter and his father walked up to the main gates of the facility and his father showed his ID Card. The two walked inside.
"Well,Here we are! The E.R.F.S!" Said Blackwings.
"The what?" Fire said confusingly.
"The Equestrian Research Facility of Science." his father explained.
"Ooooooh." Fire said.
"Now,You must promise not to run away. You must stay next to me at ALL times." Blackwings said with his serious voice.
"Yes sir!" Fire shouted.
His father smiled and started moving forward. Fire followed.
FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE INCIDENT
Firestarter and Blackwings had neared the end of the tour. The last place was the chemical part of the facility.
"Woaaaaah..." Fire gazed at all the huge bucket like containers that had substances of different colours in them.
"And this. Is the chemical part of the facility. Pretty cool huh?" Blackwings smiled.
"Uh huh.." Fire nodded as he kept his mouth open in amazement.
Fire sticked his head out over the railings and his father immediately pulled him back.
"Wha?!" Fire jumped.
"Don't do that! What if you fell in?!" Blackwings shouted.
Fire looked down.
"Sorry dad..." Fire mumbled.
Blackwings sighed and put a hoof on his mane and ruffled it.
"I'm sorry kiddo..I just..I just don't want you to get hurt...I mean...I can't live without you..." Blackwings said calmly.
"I'm sorry as well dad. I should of thought about what I was going to do before I a-" Fire was interrupted by a shake.
The whole facility shook for a few seconds and then stopped.
"D-d-dad?! I'm scared!" Fire cried.
Suddenly the entire facility gave one giant shake and Fire was flung over the railings. He managed to grab onto the railing.
"DAD!" Fire cried out to his dad as he hung on for dear life.
"FIRE! HANG ON OK! I'M COMING!" Shouted Blackwings
Fire started slipping.
"DAAAAD! I'M SLIPPING!" Fire cried as he started to slowly lose his grip.
Fire looked to the left and saw his dad grab a metal pole then gallop back to him.
"FIRE! GRAB THIS!" Blackwings shouted.
Fire reached out to grab the pole with his mouth when the building felt an aftershock and Fire lost his grip and started falling.
"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!" Fire screamed before landing in a giant bucket like building that had a lava like substance in it.
"FIRE! NO!" Blackwings yelled as he watched his son land in the vat.
Fire was under the lava like vat. He was flailing around trying to find what way was up. Fire lost all hope of surviving.....He let out his last gasp of air....
Chapter Two: Firestarter and Diamond Skies.
TEN YEARS AFTER THE INCIDENT
Firestarter sat on his bed and looked at the night sky through the window. His Mare Friend,Diamond Skies was sleeping next to him. Fire got up and went to the window.
Fire looked outside the window and saw his reflection on the window and he sighed.
"What the hay happened that I'm like this?" He mumbled to himself.
Firestarter had changed ever since the incident at the facility. His once bright blue mane and tail had been replaced by a fire red colour at the furthest half of his tail and mane and a fire blue colour at the half of where his mane had reached his head and his tail had reached his flank. The red parts of his tail and mane were on fire all the time and so was his hooves and his body was a dark red and black. His eyes were red and the only colour other than red on his eyes was his pupils and sclera (The white area of your eye .-.)
"I just need a sign..." Fire looked down.
He felt a nudge at the side of him and he quickly turned around only to see Diamond Skies.
"Fire..Are you ok?" She said with a tired voice.
Fire nodded and looked up at her.
"Yeah...Yeah I'm fine.." He mumbled.
"Are you sure? I mean you haven't been able to sleep for 3 days now. If you want I can go and get you some hot chocolate?" Diamond asked.
Fire smiled and shook his head.
"No..No it's all right..I don't want you missing out on sleep just for me..." Fire nuzzled Diamond.
Diamond blushed and looked at him.
"Are you sure? Cause I mean,I don't care about sleep. As long as you are happy." She said trying to convince him.
Fire looked at the white mare who's mane and tail sparkled in the moonlight.
"Look,I know that you love me and all. But I love you more than you love me and I don't want you getting into trouble with your boss just because you never got enough sleep." Fire sighed.
Diamond sighed and looked at Fire.
"Fire.." Diamond said.
"Yes?" He replied.
"You do know it's saturday right?"
"Is it?"
"Um..Yeah?"
Fire facehooved.
"Argh..I'm so stupid for not realising that..." He muttered.
Diamond laughed and turned on the bedroom light.
"Well,Since I'm awake. I might as well get you something to drink." She said as she opened the door.
"But I don't want something to drink" Fire whined.
Diamond laughed again.
"Sweet Celestia. Are you always this whiny?" She asked.
"No.." Fire blushed.
Diamond laughed and went downstairs and Fire followed.
Diamond went into the kitchen and looked in the fridge for something.
"Do we have any milk left over?" Diamond asked.
"No,I don't think so." Fire replied.
Fire looked around the kitchen for something to eat.
"Did you forget to go to the store?" Diamond asked.
Fire froze for a minute and looked at Diamond.
"What did you say?" Fire asked with worry on his face.
"I said,Did you forget to go to the store?" She repeated.
Fire banged his face against the wall.
"You forgot didn't you?" Diamond said.
"Yup.." Fire replied as he continued banging his head off the wall.
Diamond sighed and pulled him away from the wall.
"Will you stop inflicting pain on yourself? Just because you forgot to get stuff from the store doesn't mean the world is going to end right?" Diamond smiled.
Fire looked at Diamond and smiled back.
"You always know how to put a smile on my face whenever I forget stuff." Fire laughed.
"Yes,Yes I did know that." Diamond also laughed.
"And that Is why I love you." Fire smiled and kissed Diamond on the cheek.
Diamond blushed and looked at the clock.
"Wow. Is it seriously eight in the morning already?" Diamond gasped.
Fire looked at the clock.
"Huh..I guess time does fly when you are having fun." Fire gazed at the clock.
Diamond laughed and opened the front door.
"Where ya going?" Fire asked.
"To the store. We need food cause we are all out and we need milk." Diamond smiled.
"Be careful ok?" Fire looked at Diamond as she laughed.
"I'll be careful." Diamond laughed as she went out the door and closed it behind her.
