The Fatal Betrayal

Dewlap groaned as he woke up from abdominal pain. He raised his head, not knowing what would come.

"Twilight? Twilight, where are you…?" He croaked. He waited a while. No reply. He started to worry when his eyes shot open. "Twilight! Run, they're going to…!" Silence replied to him. He got up as he rubbed his head. He looked around, yet his eyes haven't ajusted yet. he reached to grabbed onto something to support himself, but he was pushed down by something vicious.

"Stay down!" Somepony said. Dewlap was being forced down, yet he struggles to get up.

"Please! I've done nothing wrong to you! Even if I did, I don't remember!" Dewlap cried out. He tried to move, but the force of the opposing pony was stronge. With all his might, he tried to raise his cheesy foot to retaliate. Suddenly, the weight was lifted for a second, but it got worse. The pony pushed Dewlaps front leg onto the floor in an irregular way, and then snapped it. Dewlap yelped in pain, but to his relief, his eyes finally adjusted. The bad part was that he could only think of the room as a kitchen.

"Let the animal go." Said a rather smug voice. I could finally get up, but the predicament was that there was a sharp feeling of pain. Despite the tone of voice, Dewlap could give many thanks to this pony.

"Thanks. What brought you to do that?" Dewlap said. When he turned around, he jumped back as if he was punched in the gut.

The unknown pony was Shining Armor.

"What an appearance you've made." He said, clapping his hooves together. Dewlap snarled in response. Shining recoiled back. They both didn't want to make a repeat of the last time they encountered. "Now tell me: how did you survive?" He asked.

"Where's Twilight?!" Dewlap shouted. He lunged at Shining Armor, but Shining stepped out of the way, so Dewlap slammed into a cabinet. Dewlap groaned as he struggled to pull his head out of the compartment. Shining Armor laughed as Dewlaps head popped out. "I swear, when I get my hands on you, I'll-"

"Don't say anything you'll regret." Shining growled.

"Tell me where Twilight is!!!" Dewlap yelled.

"Away from our vicinity." Shining said in a deep voice. "She's safer away from you, yet you are quite the companion."

"Companion?!" Dewlap yelled in disapproval. At this point, Dewlap was ready to fight, with or without a weapon.

"You've got nothing on your side, how are you going to escape. I have the advantage." Shining said with triumph in voice. Dewlap just realized that, but he also remembered that they are in some kind of kitchen. So there must've been a knife somewhere! Dewlap looked around for a sharp object, maybe a pan as well. He finally caught sight of a knife on the counter behind Shining Armor. He levitated the knife and swung it at Shining Armors side.

"Gah! You little!" Shining Armor yelled. Dewlap ignored him as he made a dash for the back door. The door bursted open, which alerted unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies. Some went around to scout around, but Dewlap went out into the open. Unicorns that caught sight of him casted spells, pegasi gave chase, accompanied by earth ponies. One earth pony caught up to him and rammed into his side. He tumbled down a hill, with pain stabbing him everywhere. Dewlap finally stopped moving, yet he was surrounded by ponies.

"You want me? Well, you can try." Dewlap muttered. Everypony charged to the center, but Dewlap evaded by shooting to the sky. Everypony on the ground was dumbfounded as their heads knocked together. Dewlap had been growing a grin of success. "Alright, next objective: find Twilight." He said under his breath. He then, continued forward without caution, but his plans were stopped by seeing a medical building down below. He hesitated and then let himself drop slowly. As he gently laid himself on the ground, he checked his surroundings

It was silent in all directions, so he quietly opened the door. Once there was a hole big enough to fit in, he slipped inside. In there room, there we're cabinets, beds, and trays. There was a sharp pain on the back of his head. He reacted to that and started looking for some binding tape to at least supress the pain on his head. He opened cabinets and drawers, yet no luck.

"Come on, give me something!" Dewlap shouted as he opened a box. He finished opening the last container in the room and then proceeded to the next room. The door bursted open to reveal a small room with a patient on a small bed, surrounded by doctors. "One of you, get binding tape and wrap it around my head!" They were all quivering with fear, but one mare stood up slowly. She was a pale earth pony with a very bright mane color. She opened a drawer and som binding tape. She then, started to wrap some of it around his head.

"You're strange." She said to him in a quiet voice. She start to slow down and then stopped.

"Thanks, I'll find something to pay you with!" Dewlap said. As he opened the door infront of him, he closed it and turned around. To his astonishment, Twilight was on a bed in the room. Her condition was great if there wasn't cloth wrapped around her front left leg.

"Dewlap! How did you get pass my brother?" She asked with amazement in voice.

"Stabbed him." Dewlap replied. He looked down at her leg. "Tell me what happened."

"Hey, I'm fine."

"Tell me." Twilight sighed.

"A pony made a severe cut, I bled and I'm better now." She said. Dewlap made a sigh of relief. Dewlap was startled when Twilight picked up a book from a shelf. She started flipping pages. "Book of spells." She said. "Let's see, temporary magic disabling spell. Want to try?" She asked. Dewlap shrugged his shoulders in response.

"So, how do we cast a spell?" Dewlap asked.

"First, we need to know how to duel. Look here." She said, pointing to a very good illustation of two unicorns facing each other. It appeared to look like both of the were casting spells, the result being lightning coming from both their horns. The lightning was also two colors, with a white bead being the border.

"Hm, seems simple." Dewlap said.

"Not exactly, first you got to cast your spell, and then that happens," she said, pointing to the picture. "Now, you got to concentrate on your spell. The white sphere tells which one is stronger, so far. So let's say we were dueling. If the sphere hits my horn, your spell would effect me. Same goes with you." She said. She got off her bed and got into a fighting position. Dewlap did, as well. They circled around the bed. Twilight finally casted the disabling spell and Dewlap did the same to counter her. The streak of lightning appeared from our horns.

"Whoa!" Dewlap suddenly yelled. The sphere went dangerously close to his horn. Dewlap concentrated hard enough to push it towards Twilight. Twilight was trying to counter it, yet she couldn't force the sphere back. The sphere inched closer to her horn. Twilight tried as hard as she could, yet no luck. It finally, made contact with Twilight, making her recoil back to the wall. She tried levitating the spell book, yet all her horn did was flicker and sputter. Twilight gasped in amazement.

"Wow! You are fantastic!" Twilight told Dewlap, who started to blush a bit.

"Shall we exit the room." Dewlap said in a buff voice. Twilight gave a face of disapproval. Dewlap frowned and started to open the door to the next room, which apparently led to outside, which was extremely quiet. "How 'bout we learn more spells?" Dewlap suggested.

"Good idea!" Twilight said. They went back inside to look in the fabulous wonders in the book. They flipped to a random page, which showed a spell that explodes on contact. The illustration was a pony being thrown back by the spell. They both bit their lips and then flipped to another page. The spell was an electricity spell. They both had a face which showed that they could use this spell. They looked at how to cast it, and then flipped to another page that showed a light spell. It said that if you hit a target, it blinds the target temporary.

"Ok, ready to go?" Dewlap had asked.

"Let's go!" Twilight said with adventure in her voice. As Dewlap opened the door, there was a swish noise in the distance. It came closer, and a green sphere hit the door, blowing it into discarded pieces of wood. Dewlap stared down, with his mouth wide open. A high-pitched squeal came out of his throat. Twilight peeked outside and saw that Shining Armor and a companion were out in the open. Twilight looked back at Dewlap, who was still making the noise. "Dewlap, you alright?" Twilight whipsered. "Dewlap?" Twilight repeated. She elbowed his right leg, and continued to the door.

"Ow! What was that for?" Dewlap said. Twilight glared back at him. Twilight started waving to Dewlap to get closer to the doors original place. Dewlap got below Twilight and popped his head outside. Shining Armor was pacing around and searched the surroundings of the building. Twilight dashed out and striked Shinings companion. Her brother, had turned around and casted a spell. Dewlap grunted as he shot electicity at Shining Armor. Their spells had hit each other, starting a duel. The bead had came closer to Dewlaps horn. Twilight saw them both and ran closer.

"Stay out of this Twilight!" Shining Armor yelled to Twilight.

"You don't know what you're-"

"I said: STAY OUT OF THIS!!!" Shining Armor barked. The bead of light was forced to Shining Armor. Suddenly, other ponies came out, but only to be hit by Twilight's Spell. One retaliated, forcing Twilight into a duel. Dewlap started to give up, not caring if he got hit or kill again, yet he didn't. Courage surged through his body. A wave of electricity bursted out of his horn, making the bead an inch away from Shining Armor's horn. A pony groaned in the backround, meaning that Twilight won the Dewlap.

"Yes! Dewlap, hurry up!" Twilight said as ponies closed in on Twilight. Dewlaps urge to win the duel went away as Twilight whimpered. Shining Armor started to approached Dewlap, and then broke into a run. Their horns touched each other, causing an explosion that made Dewlap fly backwards onto the ground. He fell on his back, erupting into massive pain and with his ears ringing ears. Dewlap looked around for Twilight, and then he caught sight of her being surrounded by... changelings? Dewlap was sure there weren't any on the field. Yet, there was. Shining Armor had been flung back onto a wall, only to have the same amount of pain. He groaned as three of his legs snapped.

Dewlap crawled to Shining Armor to helped him, but he was intercepted by a changeling. He tried to use the last of his magic to at least teleport behind the intercepting changeling. As his horn glowed, he broke down into pieces and went three feet closer to Shining Armor. He started to crawl closer, until a changeling tackled him. The changeling held all of Dewlaps hooves on the ground and was about to conjure the spell that he always feared. Dewlap closed his eyes gently, but he was interrupted by Twilight kicking it off Dewlap.

Twilight had put a hoof on the changelings chest and pointed a pistol at the bridge of its nuzzle. "Nobody kills him in my life again." She said with anger building in her voice. The changeling bared its fangs as it wanted to bite Twilight. With out hesitation, she pulled the trigger, thus puncturing the skull. Twilight looked down at Dewlap and started to drag him to her brother. When they approached Shining, he refused to get closer to Dewlap. He flailed as Twilight came to pick him up.

"No! My back-!" He yelled

Snap!

"Stop. It's his arm, he'll be fine." Dewlap said, looking at Shinings oddly bent arm.

"We need him back at our tent." Twilight informed. Twilight started to close her eyes, preparing for a teleportation spell. The tipped of her horn glowed, starting to cover all three of them. The light faded away, showing them that they were in their tent. Dewlap opened his eyes, got up, and started shuffling through a pile. Dewlap grabbed something a bit sharp, and pulled it out. To his relief, it was his crown.

"Now, Shining, this may hurt a bit." Dewlap said. Shining raised an eyebrow in confusion. When Dewlaps horn started to glow, Shinings leg had been making snapping noises and was in a normal position. "There, wasn't so bad, right?" Dewlap said.

"Wasn't so bad?!" Shining exclaimed.

"I've been through worse, you little shit." Dewlap growled.

"Touche." Shining said. Twilight cleared her throat.

"Sorry, Twilight. This asshole was complaining about the pain her was in."

"OK, one, you two need to bond a bit. Two, you need to improve your magic if you'd like to keep your life." Twilight said to her brother.

"Is that a threat?" Shining said.

"Think of it as advice." Twilight said to him.

"Alright, fine, but what's the stroy of you two?" He asked. Dewlap explained and told his side of the story, from the death of Dave, (Dewlap kept pausing with flashbacks) to killing Rainbow Dash. Once Dewlap finished, Twilight began her story about the past.

"Dewlap, what did you say about Dave?" Shining asked him.

"H-he's dead." Dewlap said.

"I'm not so sure about that. I saw him during training, but he was wearing a cloak to cover half of his head all the time." Shining said. Dewlap felt happy once Shining told him, but had this feeling of hatred.

"Dewlap, you have a chance now." Twilight said to him.

"Yes, I do, but that doesn't seem right. We saw him die infront of our eyes." Dewlap said with a sad feeling. "You guys are coming with me, I don't think he's the same"

"Dewlap, I found the fake body!" Shining yelled. Sparks flew up in the air, showing his location. Dewlap ran through bushes and trees and found Shining Armor. "Right here, guys." He said as Twilight ran next to Dewlap.

"Hmm, you're right about him being alive, the body should've decayed by now." Twilight said. "Still, after two years." She muttered. Everything remained silent until Shining Armor moved.

"Twilight, look out!" Shinging pushed Twilight as a jet of green light flew at Shining Armor. As he was hit by the jet of light, he fell down as if it was caused by forced. With Dewlap in shock, Crysalis and few other changelings came out of the bushes.

"Well, if it isn't the king himself." Chrysalis said with a maniacal tone. "I see your little friend here is hurt. What a shame." She said.

"What did you to him?!" Dewlap yelled. Chrysalis cackled at the question. "I'll kill you if you don't stop it!" Dewlap exclaimed.

"Stun them," she immedietely said. Changelings threw spells at them, successfully striking them. Dewlap and Twilight fell to the ground, feeling their insides being ripped to shreds. "Dave, come and murder these two meat piles."

"With pleasure," a pony said. He came out, his face half black, with the edge of the blackness was grabbing to the other side. "Hello, Dewlap," Dave said. Dewlap looked up at him in anger and sadness. To Twilight's horror, Dewlap was pleading for his life.

"Dave, please," he said with his voice shaking like mad. "Please. Please, Dave." He said quietly. Dave made his horn glow jet black, until Dewlap yelled, "I'll duel for my life!" He said with tears streaming down his face. Twilight was struck with emotion when Chrysalis only smiled.

"I'll let you duel, but before you duel me," she gestured to Dave. Dewlap got up, struggling to even be on his knees. His legs were shaking and weak, yet he got up. Dave and Dewlap faced each other and strafed in a circle. Dave stopped to cast a death spell, but Dewlap countered it with the light spell. They both had it each other, cause lightling to form from their horns. The bead also created lightling, hitting trees, but didn't burn or even move them. Dewlap tried hard to move the white bead, but it only went back. Moments later, the bead moved away from Dewlap, which was inches away from his horn. The bead moved faster towards Dave, making him more alert. Finally, it touched his horn, making him recoil and cover his eyes.

"I won, now I face you." Dewlap said, but Chrysalis only giggled.

"Sure, you can fight me, but first," She said. She casted a grey spell, which had hit Dewlap. He fell to the ground again, but his eyes showed him the horror if the changelings defeated them. Ponyville was completely in oblivion. Raging fires, screaming, and visits from death himself. The images stopped, but Dewlap was horrified.

"Now!" Said a southern accent female. Ponies jumped out from the bushes, mostly orange and yellow-orange. They tackled the changelings, either snapping their necks or their spines. As Twilight was helped, an orange mare with a cowpony hat had grabbed him from the neck.

"Please, I helped Twilight as well!" Dewlap said. When Dewlaps head gained some purple, she had let go.

"Fine, but your comin' with me to that barn," she said. She dropped Dewlap to the ground, leaving him gasping for air and coughing.

"You're lucky you're alive," Twilight said as she helped Dewlap up. "She's pretty stronge for a mare."

"No shit, Sherlock." Dewlap murmurred.
