The Rebel King
The Race
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDewlap opened his eyes, finding himself near the Ponyville train station. It was all white, but there were shadows. Three alicorns flew down to him. Celestia, Luna and the third one being hooded and unknown.
"Where am I" Dewlap asked. Celestia smiled.
"Why, you're at the Ponyville train station." Luna said. "Is it not obvious?" She asked. Dewlap looked at the ground and shook his head.
"No, but am I dead?" Dewlap asked.
The hooded pony spoke in a gentle voice, "You're merely dead and merely alive. You escaped me once, with that crown of yours."
"Dewlap, we introduce you to Death," Celestia said as she gestured to the hooded pony. "He can be lenient at times, but you provoked him, many times as well." She said with a frown.
"The train will come any moment now, Dewlap, but you must walk with us." Luna said. They group walked away from the train station, waiting for a discussion.
Dewlap spoke, "Why am I here?"
"For a little promise, and you must keep it." Celestia said in a whisper.
"Death allows you to have a chance to defeat Chrysalis, but this is the last chance he gives to you." Luna said. Death hung a leg around Dewlap's neck.
"I had a spot for you and Twilight, and to be honest, I never cared if you or Chrysalis won the war. Now, if you do sucseed, I will let you say goodbye to Twilight, and we shall depart from the living world, and you can give her a part of you to make her remember." Death said. They arrived in Twilight's library, and sat down at table. "And let's say if you don't sucseed in defeating her, I shall make you a ghost, to make you feel being unseen and avoided, for a little payback," Celestia and Luna frowned. "You must not argue with me, I can take you away whenever I want."
"To go back, you must take the train back to the living world. You will sucseed in this, Twilight cannot defeat Chrysalis by herself." Luna said.
"Wait, are you two dead?" Dewlap asked. Celestia chuckled as Luna smiled.
"We're still alive, but in a weak and captured state," Celestia said. A train whistle blew in the distance. "You must go, you'll have as much time as you need." She said. Dewlap walked away, until Luna grabbed him by the shoulder, turned him around, and kissed him.
"Sister, I want to accompany him on the train." Luna said. Celestia smiled in approval. Luna flew up and went towards the train station. Dewlap followed as Luna went down. Dewlap touched down at the station platform and followed Luna into the train. They sat down next to each other and blushed every time they looked at one another.
"You accompanied me, why?" Dewlap asked. Luna smiled at the question as her heart pounded in her chest.
"Because you are not like an ordinary changeling. You use love for good, even knowing that changelings feed on that emotion." Luna said. They scooted next to each other, both having love inside of them. Finally, Luna kissed Dewlap and hugged him at the same time. Flowers bloomed in the train cart. Dewlap hugged her back, showing his affection for Luna. They stopped, holding hooves with each other.
"I love you like none other, Luna. I think you'd ought of known that." Dewlap said. Luna smiled with a loving heart.
"As do I." Luna said. Dewlap picked up a rose and handed it to Luna. She looked down at it and smiled. They kissed once more, waiting for the train to stop moving, but wanting it to stay in movement forever. The train wheels hissed, meaning that they arrived at the gateway to life. They saw Death at the gate with a spear.
"Luna, I can put you next to him once you wake, to help him." Death said. Luna smiled.
"I'd love it." Luna said as she smiled at Dewlap.
"Well then, I shall let it happen." Death told her. Death touched Luna's forehead and shined. The gate opened, showing them a silver path. Dewlap and Luna walked on the path, holding hooves, until a bright light blinded them.
"Wake up, please!" Twilight yelled at the discarded body of Dewlap. Luna's body appeared next to Dewlap's body. Was she dead as well, Twilight asked herself. They bodies stood up, coughing their hearts out.
"No! You're suppose to be dead! Away with you!" Chrysalis yelled. Luna stepped up to Chrysalis.
"You should be saying that to yourself," Luna said. Twilight hung upside down with a gaping mouth. "Now, we duel." Luna said. Chrysalis backed away in preparation. "Go help Twilight." Luna whispered into Dewlap's ear. Dewlap nodded and went to Twilight. He looked back at Luna, who conjoured a magic disabling spell, which touched Chrysalis' killing spelling, making lightning making touch the white bead . The white bead started out close to Luna, but slowly making it's way to Chrysalis. Electricity sprouted from the white bead, hitting the wall to the left of Luna, making in explode. Shining Armor bursted through the door, gasping at the scene.
"Dewlap? Could you cut me free?" Twilight asked.
"Oh, right. Sorry." Dewlap said. He looked at the knot, being quite tight. More electricity came, hitting the rope this time. Twilight fell down and hit the floor with her head. The bead touched Chrysalis' horn, knocking her back.
"You'll regret this!" Chrysalis said before she flew away with her fellow changelings. They all retreated, flying away, screaming and hissing. Dewlap ran towards Luna.
"You did it, well not exactly, but you get the idea." Dewlap kissed Luna blissfully. They smiled at each other. Shining Armor walked to the left of Dewlap as Twilight walked to the right of Dewlap.
"Wow, Twilight. Looks like you have a competition." Shining Armor said. Dewlap elbowed him on the leg. "What? It's true!" He said. Luna had her face flushed with red.
"This is going to be a love triangle, isn't it?" Dewlap said.
"Yep." Shining Armor said.
"You're actually the first pony, er, living thing that noticed that." Twilight said.
"Afraid so." Luna said. The group groaned at the fact.
"Well then, I think this is how a love triangle is suppose to work," Shining Armor said. "Two mares like one stallion, or vise-versa. They compete to see who would go out with who. In laymare's terms, they fight to the death." Dewlap looked at Luna and Twilight in confusion.
"If you put it in that way, it seems like a terrible thing." Twilight said.
"This won't go out good, would it?" Dewlap said.
"Ah, I see what you did there." Shining Armor said.
"What?" Dewlap asked.
"Go out? Get it?" He replied. Dewlap groaned and went back to his room.
"Now look what you did! You depressed him!" Twilight yelled at Shining Armor.
"Well, that's how it's suppose to go!" Shining yelled back. Luna ignored them as she walked towrds Dewlap. She slid through the window, seeing Dewlap throwing a ball at his door.
"Are you alright?" Luna asked.
"No." Dewlap said.
"It could've gone worse," Luna said. "Forget about that nonsense."
"How do I explain what happened in that, what should I call it, afterlife?" Dewlap said.
"You explain it at the end." Luna advised.
"I don't think death will take me so easily." Dewlap said. Luna raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I have no clue, then." Luna said. Dewlap paced around the center of the room. Luna looked above Dewlap, who had a mistletoe above him. Luna walked towards Dewlap, making him stop infront of her. They kissed each other, forgetting problems. The door opened quietly, then Shining Armor looked inside. Twilight's headed popped through the door and made a silent gasp. They closed the door, but Twilight was still in shock.
"That was quick." Shining Armor whispered.
"I can't believe it." Twilight said in a very low whisper. She sighed, wishing it was all just some dream. She went back into her room in silence and depression. Shining Armor left as well, feeling bad for Twilight. Luna ran across Twilight and looked at her.
"Twilight, Celestia is, well I would rather not talk about it, but she is not well to lower and raise the sun. Could you do it for her?" Luna asked.
"Sure, OK." Twilight said blankly. Twilight looked outside and saw the Sun still raised. Twilight concentrated to lower the Sun. It felt rather easy to lower the Sun. She saw the Moon rise gently, with no problems. She could hear Dewlap snore from a few meters away, but she ignored him. Luna watched Dewlap as he slept, remembering that she could enter dreams… or nightmares. Dewlap grunted and started muttering "No…" and "Away…" a few time. She resisted the temptation, but finally she broke. She closed her eyes and waited. She opened her eyes moments later and saw Dewlap in a forest, laying on a frozen lake.
"Stop! Please! Take me away, not them!" He yelled. A roaring noise swirled above them. A black tornade hovered above, showing Chrysalis' head in the middle.
"I'll get rid of you, but I will use you to kill her first." Chrysalis said. Luna bent down to touch Dewlap, but he burned her. The tornado projected Chrysalis' plans, showing Dewlap brutally murder Luna. Dewlap looked like he was forced to look at it, struggling to look away. Luna was horrorified at the sight when a knife had stabbed her in the projection. The dream suddenly stopped, making Luna give a sigh of relief. Dewlap woke up and panted after he woke up.
"Luna!" Dewlap said. He hugged her as he started to cry. "Thank goodness it wasn't reality." He said. Luna looked at him with a sorry face and hugged him back.
"It was horrific." Luna said.
"You saw it as well? Fascinating." He said.
"Should we tell the others?" Luna asked. Dewlap shook his head.
"No, we don't need to. It was a dream, hopefully." Dewlap said. Luna was shocked at the last word he said. What could she say anyways, he was right.
Mabye I should be glad that it's just a dream, Luna thought.
Someone grabbed both of her cheeks and kissed her, and as always, it was Dewlap. His eyes were closed, getting rid of the allumination of his beautiful eyes, with were blue, but he never had pupils. just completely blue.
"I should be glad I have you here," He said. "Really glad." They smiled at each other and went back to sleep, leaving their worries behind.
Twilight overheard a race going on, and also heard that Dewlap entered. With a bit of craziness in her head, she thought that she was going to enter. I really wonder if she was. You never- or right, the story, apologies. Anyways, Dewlap was a crazy and adventurous stallion that even thought coming back from the dead wasn't mad enough, and that's why she loved him. She walked into the center room of the barn, where Dewlap looked outside and watched the track being prepared for racing grounds.
"Hi Dewlap." Twilight said. He jumped in surprise.
"Ah! Don't scare me like that, please." He said.
"Sorry, just want to give you some good luck during the race." She said. Dewlap looked at her with confusion.
"How did you know?" Dewlap asked.
"I overheard a conversation in a crowd.," She said. " When does it start?" She asked. Dewlap looked delighted to answer.
"Well, my dear uh, er, friend. It starts at 7:00 PM" Dewlap said. Twilight smiled and kissed Dewlap's cheek.
"Bye, love you. I mean, I love you! I mean good luck!" Twilight said. She ran to the door of her room and face-hoofed. "Ugh, that was terrible!" She whispered to herself. She looked back at Dewlap, thinking about the stupid things she did in life, but she was interrupted by a flash of light infront of her. Twilight appeared infront of her.
"Here, take this block of dynamite. It will help him win the race. Only explodes, doesn't damage anything." She said.
"How?" The present Twilight said.
"Magic! I don't need to explain shit!" Future Twilight hissed. She bursted into flames and disappeared. Twilight looked at the dynamite in her hoof and looked at Dewlap. She walked towards him and handed him the block of dynamite.
"Why?" Dewlap asked.
"It'll help you win the race." She said.
"How?" He asked.
"Because I said so." She told him.
"Well, thanks. I guess." He said. Twilight walked away and entered her room . She was totally confused when solutions have to deal with time.
It is was seven o-clock in the night and the racers got the starting line. Pinkie Pie was up in a hot air balloon with a microphone in her hoof.
"Welcome every-pony! The annual year race will start soon! It's gonna be fun, wish there were balloons though. Anyone else want cake?" Pinkie Pie randomly said. Twilight jut got into the spectator section to watch the race, still wondering about the dynamite. Every-pony that was racing was looking confident and nervous. "Everything is allowed! Bombs, food, animals, and contraptions!" Pinkie said.
"The racers are, Shining Armor! A prince that deserves better life treatment!" Pinkie said. "The next racer is Carrot Top! Who is somehow is riding a pig!" Everyone laughed at the comment. "To the right of her is Applejack! The showoff!" Applejack growled. "Next up is Big Macintosh! Usually better than you!" Everyone applauded. "To the right, Cheerilie! A toyetic teacher!" She giggled and started to eat pretzels. "Oh, these petsals suck. Next up is Dewlap, who is somehow welcomed by many famose ponies!" She said. Twilight looked at him and smiled as he shunk from his normal size. "Our last racer is Doctor Whooves! A mad pony with a box!"
"Alrighty! First to the finish line wins!" Pinkie said. "Race starts when the first firework blows!" A pony came near the fireworks to light the fuse, and he did. The firework shot up in the air and started to sparkle. It blow up, releasing thousands of sparks in the air. The racers ran s face as they could once they heard the boom. Doctor Whooves pulled out some sticks of butter and threw one at Dewlap, but he ducked, making him miss. Little did he know, another flew at him at hit him in the head. He fell down, resting for a bit.
Big Macintosh nudged Cheerilie as they turned. Cheerilie got irritated and jumped on him, then she started punching him. Up ahead, Shining Armor pulled out a knife and threw it at the pig Carrot Top was riding. The pig jumped, but it got tired. So Carrot Top started to run by herself. Behind all of them, Dewlap started running slower, until he stopped to catch his breath. Then, a light bulb popped over his head. He pulled out the block of dynamite and sat on it. He lit the fuse as he put on his confident face. The dynamite exploded, thrusting Dewlap to the finish line. Doctor Whooves and Shining Armor were neck and neck as they stared at Dewlap flying in the air. He flew past the finish line, setting off some fireworks.
"Yes!" Twilight yelled. Everyone appluaded as the other racers were passing the finish line.
Today is a good day, Twilight thought.
Twilight caught up to Dewlap to congradulate him on the race. It was delightful to see him smiling once again.
"Hi Twilight!" He said. They hug and kissed each other as they came close. Someone came close.
"Twilight, Dewlap! Come with me, this might concern you." Shining Armor said.
"What is it?" Twilight asked.
"It's all of our parents." He replied.
