Deep in the desert near Appleloosa, is secret Changeling camp that was about to be attack by the Equestrian Royal Army core. A helicopter carrying a squad of Special Forces is heading to the camp to kill commander Black Wound of the changelings while the Royal army distracts the main Changelings.
In the helicopter, a light orange Pegasus was looking out of the helicopter while the rest of his squad is still checking their weapons till the sergeant ordered.
“Alright stallions, we’re almost there!” The sergeant began to buckle his zip line. “When we get to the drop off point the earth ponies will go down the cliff and get the attention of the remaining changeling warriors, the unicorns will be going up the cliff to give sniper fire for the earth ponies. Then while our forces are distracting the enemy, the pegasi will fly high and sneak in the commanding tent and take out Black Wound.” He then glared at them with a serious face. “Do you all understand?”
“Sir, yes sir!” The soldiers in the helicopter said in unison.
Flash and his squad then got up and prepared to be dropped off. Flash saw from far away that the assault had begun and now was a perfect time to infiltrate the camp and kill commander Black Wound. The helicopter stopped and hovered over a small cliff near the camp.
“Ok go, go, go!”
With that Flash and the team jumped out, the earth and unicorn ponies landed on the ground while Flash and the other pegasi were going strait towards the camp. Then the sergeant’s voice then voiced in the pegasi’s helmets.
“Remember pegasi, move into the camp when you hear gun fire.”
Flash and the pegasi with him waited for a minute or two till they heard the fire fight from the distance they were dropped off. They quickly descended from the sky and into the changeling base. They landed on the ground and saw that there were a few changeling guards still stationed at the camp. The guards quickly pulled out their weapons but were a second to late when Flash and the other pegasi shot all of them flat to the ground. They look around a bit till they finally found the commanding tent.
Flash rushed into the tent to kill Black Wound first but found that the entire tent was empty with all of the vital Intel gone. He looked around franticly till he looked out of the tent’s window to see the changeling commander boarding his private helicopter.
Flash ran out of the tent and said. “I’ll take care of this; all of you can help the rest of the team.” He then took off heading towards the lifting helicopter. “He’s mine.”
Black Wound saw Flash and ordered his remaining changeling soldiers to open fire. Flash quickly dodge the bullets and fired back, he used two mags to kill the remaining soldiers and then leaped onto the helicopter. When he landed he was immediately punched in the face by Black Wound, and while on the floor the changeling officer pulled out his pistol but before he could aim it Flash brought out his military knife and stabbed Black Wound in the gut. Black Wound dropped his pistol and fell to the ground still alive. Flash picked up the pistol and aimed it at the dying changeling commander and said.
“Any lasts words commander Black Wound.” Black Wound looked up with a chuckle that made Flash unease and asked. “What’s so funny?”
Black Wound with his final breath answered. “Goodbye, you darn bird.” He pushed a remote button that revealed that the helicopter was rigged. Flash tried to fly out of the helicopter but…
(* * * * *)
Flash woke up from his nightmare of his memory from a year ago and found himself in his small apartment. He got up and looked at his hind legs and tried to move them but like he thought he couldn’t. He also tried flapping his wings but looked back to see that obviously that his wings were gone.
When the helicopter exploded, the blast paralyzed Flash’s from the waist down and blew off his wings. Flash was given an honorable discharge from the Royal military with the Medal of Honor for his sacrifice for pony kind. He didn’t care… without his hind legs and his wings he couldn’t do anything existing besides a desk job that he wouldn’t be good at. He thought he didn’t have anything to live for but sleep and eat all day and night.
Flash was about to sleep again till his phone rang; he reached towards it and picks it up.
“This is couch potato Flash Sentry here, what do you want.” He said with a miserable tone.
“Well…” A mare hesitated a bit before saying. “Mr. Sentry, your brother is… dead.”
(* * * * *)
Flash Sentry was at his twin brother’s cremation funeral. He saw his brother’s coffin moving into the furnace where he will be turn into ash and put into a vase between their parent’s graves.
Flash’s twin brother Light Knight was walking back home till a changeling assassin thought he was Flash Sentry and shot him in the head. The changelings wanted revenge for one of their legendary commanders and ordered a hit on Flash but killed his brother instead.
Apart of Flash felt like it was his felt for his brother’s death. ‘I killed Black Wound not Light Knight, so why did he have to die?’ A single tear dripped down his cheek but then was swiped away with his hoof. ‘Well at least he had a quick one.’
Flash was wheeling himself out of the room on his wheel chair till two stallions trotted up to him and said. “Mr. Sentry, may we talk to you.” Flash thought for a moment then nodded. “You’ll Mr. Knight’s TWIN brother, are you not?”
“Yeah, I’m his brother.” He then looked right into the eyes of the stallion in front of him. “Why do you ask?”
“Well your ‘twin’ brother was about to be apart of an experiment for a project involving his DNA… but… well we all know what happened.” The stallion then held out two check board. “This would be a major loss for the project because his… role cost 3 billion dollars. But you’re his twin with the same DNA, so your brother’s role in the project isn’t dead yet.”
“What are you asking?” Flash asked getting a little impatient.
“We want you to join the project and take your brother’s role in it.” The stallion said and then leaned to his ear and whispered. “We can make you walk again Flash Sentry.”
Flash eyes widen hearing that last sentence. He could imagine it now, standing, trotting, and running. Even though he still wouldn’t be able to fly, he’ll still be able to move again without riding his wheelchair. He quickly made up his mind and answered.
“Sign me up.”
