*Yawn* “Who knew that waking up on weekends would be so much easier than on a school day?” I said to myself as I got out of bed. It was about 8 AM and to this day, I still wonder why you flawlessly wake up without any problem on a weekend, yet you practically stay glued to your bed on a weekday when you have to go to school.
Well, what was good about today is that since the new season of ponies started up not too long ago, so that was one thing to look forward to every weekend. I really wish I became a brony a lot earlier than the month of May, and the whole thing was just under my nose, as I had a friend who was a brony. Ah well, doesn’t seem we would ever fade anytime soon, so at least I didn’t join in close to the end. After being astonished (like usual) by the new episode, I decided to pass the time by playing The Sims.
Ah, the Sims. Ever since I discovered you as a child, you have never grown old. The new expansion pack lets you travel to the future, and see how the world of The Sims is like in the future. To sum it all up, it’s basically like Futurerama.
In fact, I’ve always dreamed of time travel. I would very much like to see what my future is like, or go back in time to fix some bad moments as a child. Even though the year is 2013, time travel is still far from being accomplished, and it doesn’t seem to be happening in the near future. However, it would seem like my dream would come true today…
It was around 11 AM and I was playing some Sims, until I heard something. It sounded like a high-pitched siren, like the one that goes off in my community for testing purposes, yet I felt like that sound was closer that it normally was. I thought it was my imagination, and brushed it off, but it was getting louder, and louder. I felt like I was going mental, until I heard an Electric poof kinda sound, and the siren stopped. I proceeded to go about on the internet, yet I felt like someone was in my presence. A casual turn-around in my swivel chair proved this to be true, but I practically fell back in it at the sight of a man.
But not just any man, he was tall and skinny, with somewhat of a round head, hazel eyes, a buzz cut and a five-o-clock shadow. But what struck me more was his clothes. He was wearing an unzipped black jacket and underneath was one of those Fluttershy yay shirts. He also had a black flat-tipped cap with a blue visor, and in large letters in the front, said “BRONY” with a silhouette of Rainbow Dash, just like the one I had. (And yes, he was wearing pants and shoes thankfully.) What I find even odder, it’s that he looked strikingly similar to my Sim I usually play as, who is how I imagine myself to look as an adult.
He then said: “Hey, kid, are you me from the past?”
Still shocked at the experience, I stuttered a lot, saying “Uh… yes… Who are you?”
“Hehe, I was expecting a reaction such as that. No need to be alarmed. I’m you as an adult from the future.” He answered expectantly.
“Wait, if you’re me from the future, how am I supposed to know you’re not some kind of alien on a mindless killing spree?”
He kneeled down in front of me and said: “Slap me.”
“Slap you? Why?” I answered back.
“Just do it, right clean in the face.” He answered back. I proceeded to slap him with my left hand. As his face moved to my right side as I slapped him, a pink imprint of my hand appeared on his face. “Ow… see? I feel pain. If I was an alien in a cloaking device, a hit like a slap in the face would instantly un-cloak him, or whatever that word would be.” He said as he got up from his knelled position. Hell, I’m from the year 2024 and we’ve still haven’t come across life on other planets yet, if that convinces you more.”
“Ok, so you’re not an alien…” I said skeptically. “With me noticing your outfit, you seem to be a brony just as I am… How am I supposed to know that you’re me?”
“Is Fluttershy the best pony?” He immediately responded.
“According to myself, yes” With a more calm tone, I proceeded to ask: “What are your two favorite fast-food restaurants?”
“Chipotle and Taco Bell, and for an odd reason, the Mexican just doesn’t hit me with the sonic diarhea that other people would normally get.” He responded without a breath.
“Hm… Maybe this guy IS me…” I thought to myself. “Last question… What are the two things you hate the most?”
He immediately responded: “Radio music and pants saggers. Radio station, why do you have to play the same freaking songs over and over again?! The pants saggers also need to find a belt already.” As I stood up in astonishment, I said
“Oh my god, you ARE me! I always imagined myself to look like that as an adult. What are you, in your twenties?”
He replied saying: “25 to be exact. But I have seemed to gain your trust now, so now I must tell you about the impending dangers of the future.”
“Impending?” I questionably respond.
“Yeah… it’s a long story. Get comfortable, as it might take a while.” He proceeds to grab the other swivel chair in my room and sit on it as he begins the story.
“So, as I mentioned earlier, I’m from the year 2024. A LOT has gone on since now. For one thing, the Government got so bad, that there was a HUGE rebellion and it got overthrown. This happened most of the year 2018, so there lots of war, explosions, most of Washington D.C. is destroyed, we have no more national government. This is kind of a weird turn of events, since Apple the computer company has more money than the U.S. government they helped rebuild the government and it slowly came back on its feet. The rebuild happed about 2019-2021. Now since then, we’ve gone through some massive technology upgrades. We have stuff like invisibility cloaks, light sabers, even holographic Pokémon. And, of course, advances in computer technology. Apple created a computer where its exact functions are unknown, but it was so powerful, that it was rumored that is could possibly bring the internet to life. Now, meanwhile on the internet, My Little Pony, ya know, the fourth generation that we are all obsessed with known as Friendship is Magic? That ended at its 10th season in 2020 and after that, the population of the bronies exploded more than they did back in 2011. Hell, even the haters became bronies or just stopped caring even though our content like pictures, videos, and fan fictions were flooding every site known to the internet. Now, back to apple, that Mega computer they created started malfunctioning, and no one knows how it happened, then in 2021, all hell broke loose, as the computer exploded. It was a MASSIVE explosion that supposedly wiped the internet all across the U.S., and being that ponies were the most popular thing at the time, that’s what mostly spread. Well, only. Believe it or not, Equestria just appeared in the central southern part of America. While the bronies found it to be breath taking, no humans were allowed into Equestria, and since they were plopped right in the middle of America, war broke out. However, the government, and even the bronies never knew of Celesta’s and Luna’s overwhelming magical power, and wiped a lot of us out, and I mean most of the population of America. Foreign countries saw Celesta and Luna’s power, and just stayed where they were and didn’t bother to come close to North America. Mexico and Canada pretty much got the hell out of their countries so those places were practically deserted. Now, most of America is exactly just what a zombie apocalypse would appear, a deserted and barren wasteland with little to no life. But the only difference was that a kingdom stood in the middle of it all, and while it seemed to be a friendly kingdom, it was feared by many. Some people believe that this madness could be stopped by going to Apple headquarters and tinkering with what was left of that weird computer. No one dared to do such a thing, as it seems that some creatures from Equestria roam what’s left of America. Now it’s pretty much the hunger games from here on out, with people trying to survive.
“Wow…” I said in astonishment.
“I never thought such a huge turn of events would lead to a catastrophic aftermath such as that…” My older self responded.
“I also want to know, is the Equestria cannon or fandom?” I asked.
“I’m not very positive on that, since no one can come close to Equestria, no one’s been able to find out.” He responded
“So uh… am I supposed to help with all of this?” I asked.
“Yeah, the first thing that popped into my mind was that I needed a partner for this adventure to get to the Apple headquarters in California. Most of everyone else I knew was dead…” He said with a sob
I proceeded to hand him a box of tissues.
“It’s ok, it’ll be alright.” I said as I padded him on the back. “It’ll be just like Partners in Time, the older ones pair up with their younger self’s and save the past, even though it’s the future this time.”
My older self grabbed a tissue and blew his nose, loudly like how I would’ve. “Yep, this guys me” I thought to myself.
“Just don’t expect me to piggy back you.” He said while wiping some tears away and sniffing.
We both laughed. “That’s it, comedic relief, that’s exactly what we need now.
“So when are we leaving?” I asked.
“Well, proper combat gear wouldn't be in your pajamas, so you should probably get dressed. Like I mentioned, we will be coming across some Equestrian creatures invading our territory, so I will get out of your room and give you time to change.”
“I’ll do that.” I said. It was about 10 minutes later when I got dressed in a black coat with a white cereal guy shirt underneath, sweatpants, sneakers and a leaf camouflaged hunting hat with a face cover. I went downstairs to get my backpack and some snacks for the road. All I could really find in the pantry were a box of granola bars and water bottles. After that, I met my future self upstairs and we got ready to leave.
“Hold on junior.” My future self stopped me for a second. He tossed me a Remington shotgun and some shotgun shells. “You’ll need this for the journey ahead.”
“Oh, thank you. I've always wanted to wield a gun in real life.”
“Alright, ready to leave?” My older self asked.
“Let’s do this” I responded as I pumped my shotgun. He proceeded to pull out a watch and said into it:
“Time travel, destination: previous location”
The watch responded in a voice similar to Siri’s. “Time travel commencing. Destination: December 8th, 2024 in 3, 2, 1.
