Dawn
Timberwolves run through the night
Abscense Absence here of day and light
Hunting, chasing, steps strides are long,
joining others in moonlit song.
Clever enough to run a maze,
the sly fox rakes his watchful gaze
across the landscape for his prey,
blue eyes icy and sharp as the jay's.
And perched up above them in the trees,
the jay is weary wary of these hunters he sees.
The dove beside him quietly sings
then darts away on white-tipped wings.
Slowly floating higher with ease,
the dove escapes on the cool morning breeze
For now, lit softly in the early sun's rays
are the timberwolf, the fox, and the jay.
