I inhale through the cigarette letting my lungs fill up as I release blowing smoke into the air. Paramedics and police swarm around the area like a nest of angry bees. I wipe the blood of my busted lip and past the cig over to Feather Weight. He took a drag then threw it down on the porch of the old shack. No one spoke, no one needed to for what happened here. In fact all anypony ever did was ask the same question over and over again. 'What exactly happened between you young stallions?'. Well I'll tell you what happened with every little detail unfurled.
-3 days earlier-
I lifted the heavy hay bale and dropped it by the barn of the Apple family orchard. I looked back at where the pile was. I didn't see a single shred of hey left as I looked by at the barn to reflect on what I did.
"Amazing." I thought out loud, praising myself.
I looked to the farm house and saw Big Mac, shirtless as always when he works, leaning against one of the wooden pillars that hold the unsteady porch roof.
I called over to him. "Oi! Mac! I got the work done!"
He looked up and started walking my way. I checked over my work one more time to insure that I did a well enough job. When he was within range he studied my work, like Princess Twilight studies her literature. He looked up at me with a wide smile on his face.
He began to praise me. "Mighty fine job ya did there, young stallion!" He patted me on the back and gave a hardy laugh along with it. "Well anyway you did the job here's your payment.
He through me a sack of bits and I was about to walk off when he called my name.
"Rumble!"
I spun around to see what he needed.
"Ah'm going down to this old shack and drinkin' some booze. You wanna join in?" He asked.
I pondered and toyed with the subject, then I decided, on a condition of course. "Can I bring a few friends?" I asked.
He remained silent for a good three to four seconds before answering. "Not too many Ah only have so much."
"Awesome! See ya tonight Mac!" And with that we parted ways.
I ran to Feather Weight's house. Of course he agreed. We've been best friend's since we were foals and we still are. So after that we had to deal with the tricky part, Spike. It took a lot of convincing but me and Feather Weight have glib tongues so I guess it works like that!
"You sure this is the place?" said Spike, looking a bit nervous.
"Yeah I'm pretty sure it is." I said trying to reassure him.
We stood before a small shack in front of a hill in a wooded area. The shack had three windows, and a door. The shack was covered in moss and there appeared to be a flickering light inside. I walked up to the door and knocked. Big Mac immediately answered the door.
"Guys! Yur here! come in, come in!" He cleared the doorway and we entered.
The shack could fit a good five ponies inside, it had a lantern on a barrel in the left corner of the shack to light up the area. Of course this was followed by a fishing net hanging from the ceiling, some crates, a canoe, a twelve pack of beer and a half empty bottle of whisky. None of that surprised us, but what did surprise was the fact that there were magazine after magazine of PlayPony everywhere!
"So, do ya guys like?" after that he tossed us each a beer, me and Feather Weight opened ours but Spike set his to the side, figures.
I replied. "A bit crowded but a good place to hang out if your down or just wanting to hang."
He took a sip of his beer and looked at me. "So Rumble, How's yur brother? I haven't seen him since he joined Wonderbolts."
I smiled and chuckled a bit. "Doing better then he was five years ago.
Everypony laughed, this is good. Just a nice little hangout for us.
"Ya now Feather Weight, I could help you build up some muscles if you want? So people don't look at you like a wimp." He offered him.
"Uh, no thanks Big Mac, I prefer the way I am now." Feather Weight said, declining.
We sat around chatting about a multitude of topics. 'Did you see the newest Wonderbolts show?', 'How's your family?', and some ghost stories. Then Mac decided to bring up something rather genius at the time. He passed the whiskey bottle to Spike who declined and passed it to Me. I took a sip. Too strong for me.
Big Mac started a new topic. "Hey guys, ah have an amazing Idea!"
Spike looked at him. "What is it Big Mac?"
Mac began. "Ah'm thinkin we start a group, like a type of club! So you guys in?"
I smiled. "Well I've been bored recently. Why not, Mac!"
Feather Weight agreed. "Yeah, I think It'll be cool!"
Spike pondered around the subject for a bit. "I guess so."
Big Macintosh smiled, which for some reason made me cringe. "Alright guys! Then its settled. We meet tomorrow!"
We all agreed to meet the following day, but that look on his face when he smiled. It was almost, sadistic looking. I decided to shrug it off and head home for dinner. Even though I've known Big Mac for years, I'm starting to feel uneasy.
"So what are we going there today?" Featherweight asked in an excited tone.
"I dunno Featherweight, I'm a little hungover from the night before." I told him, of course I was lying. It's just that stare that Big Mac gave off when we left sent shivers down my spine, it was creepy.
I turned my head to ask Spike. "What about you Spike?"
Spike nodded cautiously. We then agreed to head back there that night to hang out with Big Mac. I went through my day as usual. Hang out with friends, mess with trumpet, clop, hang out with friends again, followed by further clopping. The sun was about to go down when Featherweight and Spike knocked on my door. My brother answered before I had a chance to. My brother is in the Wonderbolts. He's going to be the next leader after Rainbow Dash of course.
Thunderlane opened the door and was shocked to see them. "How may I help you today?" He asked as polite as he possibly could.
I rushed to the door pushing Thunderlane out of the way, which made him give out a short 'Hey!'. "Hey Rumble! Your ready to go?" Spike asked.
I nodded excitedly and we took off to the Apple farm. Once we got there we went down the wooded area and reached our destination. Big Mac of course, was waiting for us. He was on the porch waving. We immediately went into the small shack and began discussing many things like beer and naked mares. You know, colt stuff.
"So then ah told em 'GET THE BUCK OFF MY FARM!' eeyup, scared him off mighty quick." Mac said finishing a story.
"Hilarious Mac, hilarious." I replied while the other guys were sucking down booze and reading 'Play Pony'.
"Eeyup, say do ya guys wanna see somethin' special?" He asked with a devious tone.
Spike sucked down the rest of his drink and was immediately interested. "Like what?"
"Oh, you'll see." He reached down inside a bucket and pulled out a gun.
I knew something was wrong, I just knew it and now our life's are going to be taken in a shack. He raised the gun to my head and smiled viciously. This was it. My time to go. Bye Thunderlane, Mom, and Dad. I'll miss you all. Big Mac lowered the gun and laughed.
"Wow you are so gullible! And teh think that you though you were gonna get shot in the face for no reason at all!" He laughed fore a good ten seconds then his amusement faded. "Phew, ah that was good. Say do y'all wanna shoot targets?" He asked.
We carefully nodded. The events that just unfurled then made us nervous. But that feeling left us when Mac taught us how to use a gun then proceeded to shoot beer bottles for a good hour and a half. The day seemed to be fulfilled and everypony was going home when suddenly I felt something metallic touch the back of my head and and a deep voice go. "I reckon you don't move. All of ya don't move."
I woke up tied to a chair. I couldn't breath. Did he knock me out? Was it all a dream? I studied my surroundings. It appeared to be the shack. But it was night and I could only see where the windows were placed. I heard a gun shot which made me jerk my head to the door. A few minutes later the door swung open. It was Big Mac. He had a magnum in his left hand and a body of a pony slung over his shoulder.
Big Mac slowly turned on a lantern. The body was Featherweight's. He was shot in the back. My eyes widen. Adrenaline kicked in and without hesitation I slammed the chair I was tied to against the wall and broke it, causing one of the chair legs to go into my leg, I didn't feel it. He turned around in shock and raised the gun. He fired three shots but I was too quick, or he was too drunk. I went head first into the door. The door gave a weak squeal and busted open causing me to fall on the porch.
Mac was on top of me. He was saying something but all I could hear was a faint ringing. I kicked him in the groan which caused him to fall over. I pushed him off of me and ran towards a nearby cluster of ferns and trees. I heard him fire randomly while yelling. One thing that I understood perfectly though.
"CALL THE COPS AND THEY'RE DEAD! SWEETIEBELLE TOO!"
I had no idea what Sweetiebelle was doing there but I had to run. So I did. I ran as far as I could before collapsing. I didn't feel it at the time but the chair leg from the chair I was sitting gashed my leg. I began breathing through my mouth, trying to prepare myself, and with that I lifted my self up with a limp and ran to the road, I didn't go to the Apple family. What if they were in this violence too? I shuffled down the road. It was dark, I was bleeding, and disoriented. My body hit the road like a sand bag, this was it, I'm going to die here. Like I said, disoriented. I heard something though, it was followed by a faint light. Was it morning? No this was too bright. I looked up out of curiosity. It was a car. The driver must have seen me because he slowed down.
The made a stop when right next to me. I looked up, now able to catch simple details about it. It was a white police cruiser. Thank god. I looked up at the stallion in the car. His eyes were widened and he was speaking hastily on his comm.
"Hey son, are you all right?" He said bent over me.
I simply nodded.
"Alright, let me take you back to the station okay?" He said. I agreed.
He put me in the back seat and patched up my leg. He was a dark blue earth pony with light green eyes. He seemed to be an expert with a med kit. He put a seat belt on me and closed the door. He hoped into the cruiser and began driving down the road. Everything was silent other than the cars white noises it was emitting.
"I'm taking you to the station for questioning, okay?" He questioned.
"Alright." I would've tell him about my friends. But I didn't know what Big Mac is capable of.
I looked around. It was dark in the cruiser also. In fact, the only illuminated thing was the road due to the headlights. I looked down, I realized I was in handcuffs. I don't remember him putting them on, let alone how I didn't feel them.
"OH, SWEET CELESTIA!" The police officer cried as he turned the wheel.
With that the car flew off the road and down a hill into the woods. I thought I was out of the nightmare that happened that day. I thought wrong apparently.
