Chapter 4: The Ones We've Lost...
Previous ChapterNext ChapterMy eyes shot open and I found myself lying on the ground, covered in ashes. I sat up and looked around, everything looks the same, every time I remember something about Earth it's always, fire, ashes and falling buildings and skyscrapers. I looked shockingly at the city before my crumbling to pieces. I used to feel something in my heart that'd I'd never feel again at this sight.
"Xavier, get up!" A light nasal voice shouted from behind me.
I turned to see my college, Anderson, reaching out to me. I took hold of his hand and he pulled me up to my feet. He ran off, leaving me to follow him. I know that this is a memory, because in all of my nightmares, it was only me. I followed him until we reached an extremely tall building, about as tall as the mountain that Canterlot is hanging over. We quickly entered the elevator and began our accent to the top of the tower.

"Alright, we've got to get to the escape pods before the Unknown takes this place to the ground with everything else!" Anderson said.
The elevator door chimed lightly each floor we passed by. I looked out the elevator's window and saw the ground slowly falling. But I also noticed a large horde of the Unknown charging at the tower. Another thing I noticed was something rather large following them, I couldn't quite figure out what it was, then it began to glow. My eyes widened as a giant blue glob of liquid fired at the tower. On impact, I felt the tower tremor.
"The tower isn't going to last long with these things firing at us!" I shouted.
"I know that! Come on, you damned elevator, hurry up!" Anderson screamed upwards at the ceiling.
The last chime of the elevator rang and the doors flung open. Anderson and I sprinted towards the control panel and the tower began to shake again.
"Damn those creatures!" I exclaimed as my fingers bolted across the control panel.
Anderson powered up the escape pods and activated one. I pushed the final button that initiated the launch sequence. At that moment, an Unknown Creature burst through the window and rammed into Anderson at high speeds. I could hear Anderson cry out in pain as I whipped my Plasma Cutter out and fired at the creature.
I ran over to Anderson and saw wounds covering his body. Blood gushed from the openings as he whimpered in pain. I looked up to see the countdown of the launch sequence. It had thirteen seconds left on the clock. I quickly scooped Anderson into my arms and carried him into one of the escape pods. I heard the banging of the Unknown creatures trying to get in and I could feel the tower tremor underneath my feet as the mortars continued to fire.
I laid Anderson down on the seat and ran to the cockpit and began to power up the escape pod. The pod began to whir and I heard the grass break. I turned to see Anderson standing at the door way flashing his teeth with blood all over them.
"I'll see you on the other side." He wheezed.
"Anderson, NO!" I yelled.
Right before I could grab him he slammed the emergency close button and jumped out, leaving himself to the Unknown. I could barely watch as the tore into his flesh in a flash. I could hear him screaming as one of them ripped his intestines out of his stomach and flew off with them. One gnawed his head off before the rest ripped his limbs and organs off. I felt the tower shake one last time before I felt my weight shift. I knew that was the final blow and the tower began to tilt. I rolled back into the cockpit and and crashed into the glass. Just before the tower tilted in the opposite direction, my pod blasted off at hyperspeed to an unknown destination.
I threw my helmet off of my head and began to vomit. I slumped down into one of the seats and sighed. I felt something sliding down my face, something liquidy. I wiped whatever it was off my cheeks and stood up and went into the cryo section. I set the time to when I landed, and then stood in the cryo tube and waited. Then I was frozen, and left to myself before falling into a deep, and very long slumber.
Reality...
I gasped awake and looked around. I felt worried, because I saw Princess Luna backed up against the wall, panting and sweating, she had a puddle of vomit next to her, she looked up at me and lunged at me wrapping her front and back hooves around me giving me a tight hug.
I didn't know how to react. I've never felt someone hug me before ever since my mother sent me off the University when I was only ten. I slowly slid my arms around her and held her tightly before letting her go. Whatever it was she saw, i could definitely tell she was afraid of it...
... And so was I.
The Unknown were meant to be feared. I never wanted the Unknown to reach this place, but time will tell as I go along. And I fear for the worst. Because now, with this new feeling, I never wanted to let Luna get hurt.
