Tick Tock….Tick Tock….Tick Tock…That is the only sound filling the dull, grey waiting Room. No sounds except a few distant coughs and sputters in the nearby room. I've Been sitting here for nearly three hours now. my only way of killing the boredness is either reading the Leaflets about diseases like Mareingitis and the cold or going into the Cafe and getting a drink of water in a small plastic cup. A Doctor opens the door to the labor ward with a slight hint of disappointment. “Congratulations, It’s a Foal” His tone was slightly worrying, as doctors usually say that with such delight, But this doctor just said it. no tone. none at all. He handed me my newborn Foal. It had stopped crying and had fallen asleep in it’s little hospital blanket. I noticed the fresh blood on the Doctors Forehooves “I’m so sorry for your loss.” As i looked over to see my wife's beautiful face. i saw two Stallions putting cloth over her face. I almost fell dead. It had hit me. I had gained one, but lost one in Exchange. The small foal began to cry, and i slowly joined it.The doctor just stood there. he soon began to sob as well. but then the two Stallions who carried my dead wife came back, they were walking towards me, the older one started to look at the child with disgust. The Stallions came over to me and the newborn, one grabbed me and the other snatched the child out of my arms. i couldn't fight back. since when did i deserve this? why did i have to lose both my wife and my own child. my heard had be smashed. Smashed into tiny of little shards. I just wanted to end it. i didn't even retaliate. i just stood there as the stallion took my only child away. the only thing i could see was the blanket covering the babies soft head. large tears began to roll down my face as i regained my senses. The Doctor who had gave me the news had gone. the world around me was non-existent as i focused on the child. The Stallion leaned over and put the foal on the ground. he then reached into his coat, and pulled out a handgun. He pulled the Hammer back, and then pulled the Trigger. Everything went silent. i could feel every ounce of emotion escape my body. the blood had splattered all across the walls and floor. there was no crying, no wailing, no moving. just a blood stained blanket, and a bullet shell. The stallion walked up to me, pulled the same hammer on the same gun and pushed the barrel into my mouth, And pulled the trigger. then everything was cold, cold and dark. Then the familiar ceiling of my bedroom came into view.
i found myself lying in my sheets with sweat trickling down my forehead. i slowly calmed down, not noticing my wife's frightened and slightly upset face. “Are you ok?” she moved her hoof towards my chest. “I had another one, about the baby” My wife then began to reach towards my head and gave me a kiss on the forehead, not caring about the beads of sweat still laying on my forehead.
It Was just a dream.
