My Country Pride
My family was gone and I had no one. No one to hold me, no one to comfort me. Life on my aunt's farm was a daily reminder of my isolation until one fateful day when I stared into a vacant stable and gasped in astonishment.
My family is dead. All of them. I have no one left to bond with. No one left to comfort me. No one left to be there for me. All I have is an uncle with a full time job who never speaks to me and a stable full of half-brained horses. Not one of them shows the slightest interest in me as I fill their buckets full of oats and hay.
One day, I walked into the stable and saw that a stall door had been left open. Thankfully, the stall had been vacant since I arrived there, but all the same I went to shut it. As I approached the door and glanced quickly inside, my heart stopped and I dropped the bucket of oats down to the floor. Staring back at me from inside… was impossible to describe in words.
