Nightmare's

The Elements of harmony slowly rose from the ground and began to glow with an otherworldly light. Celestia turned to Nightmare Moon who was flying outside of the hall. As she flew into the air five elements of harmony began to swirl around her at an insane pace. They shone brightly as Celestia left the hall.

She looked around for her darkened sister. A blast of energy that barely missed her notified Celestia of her Nightmare Moon's position behind her. A second powerful blast was launched from nightmare's horn forcing Celestia to quickly use the elements. The two blasts of pure energy met and began to compete for dominance. At first the power of harmony was prevailing and it began to over come the darkness.

Then with a sly smile Nightmare Moon summoned something from a crack in her armor. As the object rose, Celestia paled- which is pretty hard to see considering that she has white fur.

Slowly, an amethyst jewel that was cut into the shape of a star began to glow with a dark aura.

"Forgetting something Celestia?"chuckled.

The beam of darkness slowly began to smother the light of the elements.

When the beam had almost reached Celestia she said,"Luna, please! Don't do this!"

"Luna's gone Celestia, and it looks as if I win."

The darkness was mere inches from Celestia now.

"Nightmare moon, no! You'll unleash chaos across Equestria!"

"Too bad I don't care. Now, Bye!"

With a flash the elements were overwhelmed. Celestia let out one last scream before she seemed to disintegrate right in front of Nightmare. The elements all turned to stone and fell to the ground with the sound of breaking stone.

She had done it. She had really beaten Celestia. Nightmare Moon let out a mighty cackle then stopped. The shadow hadn't suggested what to do after beating Celestia and raising the moon. Nightmare Moon slowly floated to the ground.

For a moment everything was still. Then nightmare's shadow began to lengthen. Once it had doubled in size it shuddered and began looking around, inspecting the aftermath of the battle.

"Good job. I'm impressed that you were actually worthy of hosting me," A whispery voice said from Nightmare's shadow as it moved on its own accord.

"Like I could be doubted," replied the alicorn.

"Oh, I seriously doubted you. You see I've lived these moments over and over for the longest time. Up until now you were banished to the moon and I was cast into subspace. I'd float around for a short time then be sucked back into the time-stream and into Luna. From there I'd convince her to overthrow her sister so ponies could enjoy her beautiful night, blah, blah, blah..."

"What and you never told me that we've- you've been failing for in past?!"

"I doesn't matter now. You not only won, but you also supplied me with a medium of power; the element of magic."

"What do you me-"

The shadow moved with lightning speed. It left nightmare moon and moved directly under the gem. With the sudden absence of the shadow nightmare's magical hold on the prize falter and it fell onto the shadow positioned conveniently under it. On contact with the shadow it seemed to dissolve. Slowly the shadow began to grow, encompassing the throne room.

"Yes...Yes! Finally after a millennial of waiting, I am in control. Now I make the rules, not Celestia, not Luna, me. And those ponies have to play my game in my equestria! No one can stop me now! With the power from the element of magic I will plunge this world into an unending nightmare!"

Nightmare Moon was confused, in all the plots that the shadow had told her of she was the one ruling. She had assumed it would leave.

"But, I am in control,"she interrupted,"you need me as your host. Without me you disperse."

"Oh, but you don't understand, Nightmare, all of equestria, will host me. Not just you. I'll let you have the impression of being in control, but I am the real ruler now."

During this whole conversation the dark presence was spreading out from the palace, which had been evacuated, across the land. Bringing corruption and destruction. None were able to escape the shadow.
