"It was the night before Chrysamas and all through the castle, not a creature was stirring not eve-"
"Go away Discord" Chrysalis groaned as she looked up from her paper covered desk and was greeted with the sight of the Draconequus a rather stupid looking red hat on his head.
"Oh looks like somebody doesn't have the Holiday spirit." Discord feigned some disappointment as he pinched the Changeling Queen's face.
"I don't have time for pony holidays" she answered as she batted Discord's talons away. "Besides, thanks to Celestia's stupid rules that Changeling's aren't allowed to kidnap and replace ponies anymore, I've got about twelve more hours of paper work."
"Oh come now, you must find some joy in this time of year, if not you've at least got to enjoy getting fat off all the love."
Chrysalis grimaced as she thought back to the Hearth's Warming season when she indulged just a "little" too much and a new throne had to be constructed.
"No Discord, I do not find any joy in some silly pony holiday, especially when it causes the morons to sing even more often. Besides, why are you so happy, isn't this a celebration of harmony?"
"Sure it is" Discord answered as removed his goofy hat and placed his talons and paw on his chest. "But it's also a season of giving and candy and giving me candy. But most importantly, it's a season when I can gorge myself on more food than Moony during Nightmare Night."
Chrysalis raised a brow a her interest was peaked.
"So, ponies just give you things?"
"Sort of, it's more of a trade, except nobody knows what they're getting, it's all quite chaotic actually."
"That's it? I give someone something and they give me something return?"
"Sure" Discord answered with a devious grin as he played with his hat. "I forgot to mention that, if you want more stuff, you have to be good all year and give a candy offering to some old fat deer who breaks into your house and leave presents."
"What?" Chrysalis asked in confusion
"Yeah, I think Celestia made him up to try and get me to be good."
Chrysalis remained silent as she continued to process the insanity that Discord had just spoken of, sure he said some completely crazy things and sure she had seen some crazy things, But finding out that these ponies worshiped some random deer who broke into their houses and left them things in exchange for an offering was weird even by her standards and she was a giant bug pony who ate love
"What if I created my own Holiday?"
"Well" Discord spoke as he tapped his chin "I guess you could set it up any way you want, and you would get to choose who got an offering."
A devious grin slowly began to spread across Chrysalis's face.
"A then she got an idea, an awful idea, Chrysalis got a wonderful, awful idea." Discord finished as he lowered the silly red hat onto the Changeling Queen's head.
"Would you stop that!" snapped the Changeling Queen "Besides it's a great idea!" With that Discord silently watched as the Changeling Queen's eyes began to glow a bright shade of green as she tapped into the Hive Mind.
"Testing, testing one, two, three, Hello my little Changelings within Canterlot City, this is your Queen speaking with a rather important announcement. Tonight will mark the beginning of a new tradition.... to celebrate our welcoming into the Equestria.. among other things. So tonight I ask that all of you...." Chrysalis paused as she tried to figure out what to say.
"hang sock or something" Discord whispered trying to hide his smirk
"I ask that all of you hang a sock somewhere in your living quarters, that is all'
Meanwhile the few Changelings that had arrived with their Queen a few months ago were completely confused as to what a sock was, or why it needed to be hung.
