I jumped from my bed awoken from my nightmare. I shake my head in disbelief, I glance over to my wife Dusk Mist, and to my surprise she’s sleeping peacefully. I take a quick look over to the clock to see it say 6:30 a.m. I leave my room and look into the next room to see my daughter velvet shimmer turning in her sleep. I leave a note saying “out for a walk be back soon-M”. This is keeps happening it’s the same thing every time but I’m in a different location when it happens. It’s a changeling invasion which we all know isn’t gonna happen again. As I’m walking through ponyville I see midnight glitter running towards me.
“Metal I need your help Changelings have broken into my house and are holding Ethereal Blaze and Connor hostage” She says tearing up.
Turning to her I say “let’s go”
By now you’re probably wondering who I am. Well I’m Metalflare I am a nano-machine Pegasus. The nano-machines make all of my reflexes faster so I’m faster and stronger than most basically I am the ultimate weapon. When we arrive at Midnights house I notice that the door was kicked in and a window shattered. Ethereal Blaze is fighting off a few changelings with Connor nowhere in sight.
“Stay out here Midnight I don’t want you getting hurt” I say activating my nano-machines and making my way inside. Once I’m inside I see Ethereal Blaze lying on the ground a changeling readying up to bite him which in turn makes you one of them unless you’re not treated in time. I run at the changeling tackling him off of Dillon. I stand up and help Dillon up.
“You finally decided to show up I thought you wasn’t gonna make it in time” Dillon says playfully
“Well I didn’t think I would need to rush here luckily I did or you would be one of them right now” I say taking a quick scan of the room
“We need to find Connor” Ethereal says
“You look down here and I will look upstairs” I say. Ethereal goes into the next room while I make my way slowly up the stairs.
“Somepony anypony help me” I hear Connor yell
“Ethereal he’s up here” calling to Ethereal making my way into Connors’s room.
“Don’t worry Connor you dad and I got this” I assure him
“One more step and the boy gets it” King Somber say
“Leave my son alone somber” Ethereal says
“Ethereal I have a plan I need to have my back the whole time and when I say go you do it ok” I command
He nods as conformation. I rush at somber knocking him down and letting Connor go.
“Ethereal go to midnight and say safe haven location she will know where to go follow her and whatever you do don’t come back for me” I instruct Ethereal
“But Metal” Ethereal starts to say
“JUST GO” I yell
I think to myself “Midnight don’t let me down everything I taught you for this occasion you need to bring into action now” Somber gets up and hits me in the face. I hit him back hard to enough to break his jaw where he then retreats. Then a thought strikes me “ what is king Somber and Chrysalis has teamed up to form another invasion.” Then I remember Dusk and the other and I make my way outside I spread my wings and take off faster than a speeding bullet. I take up high into the skies to avoid hitting anypony. I fly above my house then come barreling down breaking the sound barrier on the way down. I land and check the door to make sure its locked but to my surprise its not.
“Come on Dusk remember what I taught you” I mumble under my breath. I walk inside and close the door.
“Hey everypony I’m back” I yell
“DAD!” I hear Velvet scream as she comes running up the stairs and comes over to hug me.
“Velvet where is mom and your aunt midnight” I ask her
“there in the basement want me to go get them” she asks me with a twinkle in her eye.
“I will go down there ok” I say
“Ok just be careful the stairwell is pretty dark I about fell on the way down and my way up” she says chuckling
“That’s my daughter the one who can trip up stairs” I say laughing.
Starting my way down the stairs I hear Dusk crying. When I reach the bottom I see her cring in the corner and Dillon Midnight and Connor talking about what happened. I run over to dusk and hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek.
“Metal why just why did you have to go up against Somber by yourself that’s just a suicide wish” She says crying
“But Dusk im right here safe and sound” I say She looks up i stare into her tear filled eyes.
“Metal don’t you ever do anything that stupid ever again you could have been killed I don’t know what I would have done with out you” she says drying up her tears and hugging me tight.
“Dusk are you really doubting the one and only Metalflare” I ask. we make our way up stairs and into the living room.
“Well we need to go talk to Celestia and luna they might have an idea of whats going on and what we should do we all need to go so midnight can explain her story.” I say making my way towards the door
“We need to leave now the next train leaves at 7:30 and its 7:15. We get up and make it to the train station where we get on the train for a three hour ride
“Wake me up when we get there ok dusk” I ask and kiss her. I fall into a dreamless sleep.
“metal… metal…METAL WAKE UP WE ARE HERE” Dusk yells “FINLAND” I yell waking up. We make our way outside the train and make sure nopony was left behind.
“Ok we ready to go now?” Ethereal asks
“yeah lets get going we don’t have all day” I say starting to walk towards the castle.
We arrive to see Celestia,Luna, and Cadance waiting for somepony at the front.
“Metalflare and Dusk mist may we see you please” Luna asks us.
“sure what is it about” I ask as we follow the three alicorns inside then the doors slam shut.
“Tia what is it” Dusk mist asks.
“It’s the changelings we think they are planning another invasion” Luna informs us.
“We know Midnight glare and Ethereal came along to tell there story King Somber and some changelings broke into there house this morning” I say
“Ok guards let them in” Cadance says.
The guards let them in and close the doors back. Right as Midnight starts to speak an explosion throws Midnight and I up against the wall.
“Dusk protect Velvet” I say getting up and helping up Midnight.
Queen Chrysalis makes her way through the hole in the wall from the explosion. “Well well well who do we have here Metalflare himself isn’t it” Chrysalis says
“ What do you want Chysalis” I say spreading my wings out to make a shield for Dusk and Velvet. Then Chrysalis rushes me me knocking me down. I kick her off of me then stand up. I then get hit with a spell with takes me down. She then calls in some of here changelings in to take away Dusk,Ethereal,Velvet, and Connor I then black out.
I wake up in a room I didn’t recognize to see Midnight standing at the edge the bed that I woke up in. “Where am I midnight” I ask perplexed scratching my mane.
“Your in the hospital Metal.” Midnight informs me. Nurse redheart walks into the room shortly after I wake up.
“Good your awake you may leave now” The nurse informs me
“Thank you” I say standing up and making my way outside the hospital. The noon sun glares down on me hurting my eyes.
“So how I understand this situation is we are the only two left out of the group and we have to take on the whole changeling army, Queen chrysalis and King somber by ourselves” Midnight asks
“Eeyuup actually lets go see if dad would help out since it is family and all” I say
“But there aren’t any more trains to ponyville till tomorrow.” Midnight reminds me
“Maybe I might of assistance to you” Cadence says walking towards us.
“How” I ask “I can warp all of us back to ponyville you can get your dad and then I can warp you back here” Cadence says
“Alright lets do it then” I say Cadence warps us in front of my house.
“We need to go see if my dad will help out” I say we arrive at my dads house to see him just walking in the door with my uncle nick.
“Hey buddy hows it going?” my dad asks me .
“I cant complain even if I did it wouldn’t do any good but I came to ask a favor” I tell my dad.
“What is it buddy I’ll do whatever I can to help” Dad says
“Well we need some help Queen chrysalis has teamed up with King Somber and they have taken Dusk Mist Velvet Connor and Ethereal back to there base and we need as much help as we can get.” I say
“Im more than happy to help son anything for family.” My dad says
“I will to its just when do we leave” Nick asks.
“now” Cadence says warping us back to canterlot.
“Good your back and you have brought more help follow me” Celestia tells us walking towards the doors into the room of harmony. We walk in then the doors slam behind us.
“Man its been years since I’ve been in here.” I say thinking to myself “ahh the memories the final guard test” Then from the back of the room I hear
“Is that the Metalflare I hear” A Familiar voice asks
“Dash is that you?” I ask puzzled
“The one and only but im not the only one here you will recognize come back here” Rainbow dash says.
I walk into the back of the room to see sitting at the “War Table” as I call it my the other five of my group of friends that who I have been through everythinh with. Fluttershy,Rarity,Applejack,Twilight,And Pinkie
“What are you all doin here” I ask
“What do you think we are here to help with the fight for the fate for equestria” Twilight informs me.
“Do you think Fluttershy will be able to fight” Dad asks
“Well I should I’ll try my best” Fluttershy whispers.
“I hope this is enough we are still out numbered by a lot” I think to my self
“Well do you think we are not gonna need a plan or we just going to run in firing away” I ask
“I have one I’ll explain on the way” Twilight tells me.
“Well before we leave I have something I must do” I say turning to the three alicorns
“I am resining as a guard. I inform them
“Wait what Metal we need you you’re the best guard we have is there anything I can do to change youre mind” Celestia asks.
“No I have made up my mind Dusk and I talked this out we have saved up enough money to last us a while so I will find a different job once we get low on money.” I say walking towards the door
“Well Metal I was fixing to promote you to my personal guard you will only come when I need you to there will be a substantial pay raise “ Celestia tells me
“Well I will have to take you up on that offer” I say
“Ok we ready to go” Dash asks
“yeah lets go” I say making as we make our way outside.
“Ok where is this base at” Twilight asks
“Just warp us to the everfree forest “ I say. Twilight nods and uses a warping spell to get us there.
“So how do you know where this base is if its hidden” Dad asks
“Well its not exactly hidden its out in the open but its so deep into the forest that nopony will venture that far exept us.” I inform them.
We walk through the forest for a few hours until we reach an open spot by this time its getting dark. As we walk into the open area I bring up my augement Visor which gives me a image of my exact location. “Here would be a good place to stop for the night alright I will take first watch in four hours I will wake dad up then four hours he will wake somepony” I say
“No I will take first watch we need you to have as much energy as possible since you’re the only pony who knows where this base is at.” Dad says
“Well I cant argue with that wake me as soon as the sun comes up” I say trying to get comfortable on the ground. A few minutes later I fall into a dreamless sleep. Sun shines into my eyes as I open them and see the group is gone.
“Hello where are you guys come out this isn’t funny.” I yell. Then out of the trees a changeling rushes out. I grab it in mid flight and slam it to the ground.
“What have you done with my family” screaming at it.
“You’re the only pony left out of the group good luck stopping us all” the changeling spits at me.
I proceed to snap its neck. I open my wings and once again take to the skies just above the tree line. I bring up my visor and see that the base is about half a mile north. I take off faster than a jet everything moving past me in a blur. I get to the changeling base.
I stare at the towering menace from above as it stands 10 stories high. I come booming down and right in the middle of the inside of the wall. “Intruder alert bring back up” Changeling guard yells.
Five guards run at me where I make quick work of them. I go into the main part of the base to see two armed guards.
“Finally a challenge” I say running at them.
I hit one in the face and then just in time duck under the others sword slash I pick up the sword from the guard I just knocked out and slit the other ones throat. I take the a set of armor from one of the fallen guards then I take the sheaths and place the gleaming sliver swords in them I place the helmet on my head and walk on. I find the room where there keeping the other and I walk in and close the door. There locked up in a cell.
“No more please we have had enough questioning” I hear Dusk plead. I open the cell take off the helmet and walk towards Dusk.
“And now this posing as Metal Im done with all of this.” Dusk cries
“Dusk its me the real Metalflare im here to save you guys” I say looking her in the eyes my nano-machines glowing with the blue electricity that runs through them.
“It is you Metal you came” Dusk chokes out
“I will never let my family down now what I want you to do is run Im going to go defeat Somber and Chrysialis once you hear me say run you run.”
I demand and walk out. I walk into the room where Somber and Chrysalis are.
“So your finally ready to die well lets do this” Somber bellows jumping down from his thrown.
I unsheath my sword the light reflecting off of it as light pours through the windows. He rushes at me where I quick step to the right and slam my hoof into the back of his skull. He quickly retaliates and kicks me across the room. I slam into the wall and drop my sword. He walks over to me and lifts me by my back left leg.
“Any last words” Somber bellows
“Yeah sword to the face” I yell and break loose grab the sword and impale it through his skull.
“WHOS NEXT” I yell flinging the blood off of my sword.
I unsheath my other sword now having one in my front hooves hovering over the ground. Chrysalis runs off of her pedestal and at me. I grab her by the neck and throw her down
“RUN” I scream. I see the group run out. Chrysalis gets up and flys over and grabs velvet.
“You will make the perfect changeling queen” she tells velvet.
I rush over and stab her just as she bites her. I pick up velvet and put her on my back.
“Pegasus take to the skies twilight warp the rest home and if your with me try to keep up I wouldn’t be wrong if I say the sound barrier will be broken” I yell taking off and bursting faster than ever towards ponyville. I look over to my left and see dusk mist failing to keep up. I grab her hoof and we fly towards ponyville.
We arrive and start to descend we come in like fighter jets booming on our way down shaking the ground when our hooves hit the ground. We rush into the hospital where I already see a nurse running towards us.
“I need a changeling bite antidote she was bitten less than ten minutes ago so we should be fine” I inform them
the next thing I know a few nurses come out with a stretcher.
“Dad stay here when the other get here tell them I went back with Dusk and velvet” I say. Dad nods as a conformation. I run back to the room where velvet is deactivating my nano-machines on the way.
“I think I might have a few broken ribs.” I say grabbing my side.
“Don’t worry we will send you to x-ray follow me please” a nurse asks me
“I want to be back here when she wakes up ok” I ask pleadfully.
“We will try our best” the nusres tells me.
I walk to a room with a x-ray machine room in it where they for some odd reason put me to sleep.
I wake up in a different room with tubes up my nose. I squint in the harsh white fluorescent light. “Good your awake” a doctor says.
“Where am I and where is my daughter and wife.”I ask
“We are all right here” Dusk calmly tells me.
“Is velvet awake yet.” I ask Dusk
“Yes but before you see her I must warn you that she did get the antidote but it wasn’t able to stop all of the transformation” Dusk informs me.
I see Velvet walk in and that’s when I noticed the changes. Her eyes are now blue and green. Her wings are the wings of a changeling and she has the fangs of one of them.
“Well if that’s all that has happened that should be good” I say getting up and start to leave.
“Do you think you should be leaving” Dusk questions .
“If there would have been any major damage there would have been a doctor in there for when I woke up” I say as we make our way outside
We walk back to our house after we tell the family how everything went. We open the door and sit down. I lay my head back and close my eyes remembering everything that we just went through these past two days. Then I realize what I really am.
I am Metalflare. I am the only nano-machine fused pony out there. I am the ultimate weapon. I am the one who is feared most.
Hey there again thought it was over after them last few words well there is more after that about a week later I got huge news let me tell you through the power of flashback.
The rain is coming down in sheets making visibility poor.
“Note to self never go out in the rain at 10 at night and not expect to run into a tree.”I say shaking the rain from my red and yellow mane closing the front door.
“Metal can you come here I have something important to tell you.” Dusks says making her way into our room.
I follow her and see Velvet peacefully sleeping in the next room.
“What is it Dusk im all ears” I say flapping my ears “Metal Im pregnant the doctor said im due anytime.” Dusk tells me.
“Really Im speechless.” I say
“You want to tell Velvet or you want me to” Dusk asks
“I will tomorrow but tonight we sleep its late” I say making my way to the bed to lay down.
We lay down and turn off the light.
“Dusk I just remembered I haven’t said I loved you even after all we just went through this past week just remember I always will” I say giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“I love you to metal” dusk tells me.
With that for the first time in weeks I had a sleep where I wasn’t woke up by a nightmare.
