What Happened To The Sky?
“OH THUNDERLANE. WHAT HAVE you done?”
That was the only thought going through Rainbow Dash’s head as she flew at full speed toward her cloud house. She had been in a good mood when she got out of the Academy, but now her mood was totally ruined. Six hours earlier…
Rainbow hummed happily to herself as she flew toward the Academy. Dewdrop had had a surprise for her that morning. The sky had been completely cleared, and there was one bank of cirrus clouds at the east. Even for Dash, that was hard work. For that, Dash thought, that deserves a promotion. Dash had been planning to promote Dewdrop for weeks, and today seemed to be just the right time. When I get home, she thought. Suddenly, Soarin’s voice called up from below, “What do you think you’re doing, Rainbow?”
Coming to her senses, Dash realized that she had nearly flown past the Academy.
“Coming, Soarin’!” she yelled, blushing slightly. At least she could fly under Dewdrop’s beautiful sky before lessons.
“See ya in a bit!” she said to Spitfire, who had flown with her to the Academy.
“Fly high!” remarked Spitfire as they parted ways.
Five and a half hours later, Dash walked out of the Academy doors and prepared to take off. Before she could even spread her wings, her jaw nearly hit the runway. Dewdrop’s hard work had been ruined. Cirrus clouds were scattered all over the sky, and the color was no longer the pretty blue that matched Dewdrop’s coat. Dash knew exactly who was responsible for that terrible mess.
“Thunderlane,” she hissed. Then, “Dashie, are you okay?” came Spitfire’s voice in her ear.
“I’ve got a problem to tend to, Spits. Wait for me at the Fort.”
“Okey-dokey. See you later!”
“I might be a while. Okay?”
“Ok. I’ll take Soarin’ along for company.”
“For the pie, you mean,” Dash said with a slight grin.
“You got me there Dashie. Anyway, go do your thing. I’ll see you at the Fort.”
“See ya! Bye!”
Rainbow’s cheerfulness on the outside masked her inner anger at Thunderlane. She had to talk to Dewdrop. Fast. Looping once around the Academy, Rainbow flew east toward her cloud house.
