The Guardian Colt
Wait! What? Two horns?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was now the middle of the day and the young ponies were discussing what and who they had just seen. Applebloom lay on her back staring at the ceiling of the barn, Sweetie was sat on the edge where the mystery colt made his jumping escape, Scootaloo lay on top of a hay stack and Button just played with a little bit of loose hay. The conversation was quickly broken by Applejack who was accompanied by Rainbow Dash-
“Did you see that stunt though? I was AWESOME if I say so myself” the cyan Pegasus boasted. You could see Applejack wasn’t in the mood for talking to Dash as there was still too much to do on the farm. Rainbow had only popped over as she had nothing else to do- she had cleared the sky from the previous night before; ready for the next one. She had finished before it was even meant to be done, not in ten seconds flat but in some record time.
Applejack shifted through some hay looking for a saddle so she could hook a cart up to big Mac so he could pull some apples out of the yard and into storage. She couldn't find it, it wasn't where it was supposed to be. She looked round and caught sight of Sweetie Belles hoofs hanging over the edge of the upper floor.
“Sweetie Belle?” Applejack was confused to who it was. Sweetie Belle looked over and saw Applejack. Rainbow Dash fluttered up to the higher level to see all the young ponies just sitting there. Scootaloo eyes widened- her idol, her hero was in her presence.
“Oh what’s up Rainbow Dash?” Scootaloo said through a huge grin, that’s all she could ever do when she spoke to the pony- she was always so happy to talk to her.
“Not much squirt, I was just practicing some AWESOME stunts before paying AJ a quick visit”- now to Applejack it wasn't a quick visit, the blue bird had been following her for the past 30 minutes talking about stuff she didn’t understand. She caught some words like ‘The WonderBolts’ but that was as much as she listened to. Scootaloo looked in awe at her sister figure and just nodded before the airborne pony asked-
“So what are you all up to?” She looked over to find Button Mash- who was now back to his cyber self. She mouthed to Applebloom who was he and she mouthed back one of Sweetie Belles friends. She had no idea who he was so was initial therefore she was confused by his presences. With that said –or mouthed- they returned to the conversation.
“We’ve just seen a colt in the barn” said Sweetie Belle. Rainbow looked over to Button. “No, not Button. We mean a different colt, a Pegasus colt- with Horns!” Rainbow paused before she spoke.
“Did you say horns? As in more than one?” the cyan Pegasus was showing deep thought- trying to process the facts of a pony with two horns; she had never seen one before.
“What was he evil or? Applebloom shook her head at the question.
“He was really quiet an’ only Scootaloo got him to answer- which was only a nod. He seemed really timid.” Applebloom expressed concern in her voice. She cared for everyponies feeling.
“Why was he in the barn then?” Applejacks voice echoed from the lower floor as she shifted through the hay. “GOT YA!” She shouted, as she finally found the saddle.
Applebloom looked up at the ceiling and shouted back “He was just in here, I think he was hiding from the storm last night- his Saddle bag seemed damp.” There was a moment of silence and Applejacks face appeared as she climbed the hay stacks to the second floor.
“So the little colt must have nowhere, he must have been desperate to have to come in here- it gets cold at night.” Applejack was remarkably relaxed with the factor that some pony had sneaked into the barn and spent the night- it may have been the factor it was a colt; a young pony. Rainbow Dash and Applejack expressed the same look, sorrow for the colt.
“Where is he now?” Applejack finally asked. Something the two should have asked in the first place.
“He just got up, jumped down and ran out the barn door!” Applebloom replied. Applebloom felt that something must be done but she didn't know what.
“What can we do Applejack?” Concern lingered in Appleblooms question. The orange earth pony put her hoof to her head and gave a pose of thought. She thought quietly only to look up at the sound of bleeping from Buttons mechanism- which he was pulling faces at.
“Maybe we should tell Twilight? Or the others to look out for him?” Applejack finally announced. She looked at the fillies once more and said-
“Yeah, me an’ Rainbow will go to Twilights now and go tell the others, but first we need to see Big Mac and give him this saddle here!” As she finished the mouth full of words she filled it with the leather of the saddle and made her way down, followed by the flying pony.
As the two left the barn, the conversation continued into the rest of the day till all had to part and go home, ready for a fresh new school week- much to the joy of Scootaloo…
