Unknown planet, Unknown Solar System, Unknown Galaxy
The universe is a massive place. So many stars set into place throughout it, and orbiting those stars are planets, some more hostile than others. It’s on one such planet that we begin our tale. A tale of wonder, amazement, and… just a little bit of failure.
“Dameon! Run you dumbass!” yelled one unfortunate soul to his brother.
“You think I haven’t tried that yet!? This thing won’t stop till’ we kill it, or it kills us!”
“Okay! Think! Think! Alright I got it! Dameon I need you to distract it while I get us a way out of here!”
“Already on it Marcus! Just hurry up, I’ve lived too long to get killed by a freaking giant scorpion!”
The two were currently on the run from one of the planet’s more monstrous denizens. For a comparison, it would be like standing next to a two story building...rushing at you like a freight train. The poison its glands contained and currently being coated on its barb was enough to kill over 100 average men with a single drop. Thankfully, these two were anything but average. Now as to how they got into this situation, well that’s a story for another time.
The brothers named Dameon and Marcus have been in situations far worse than their current predicament. Unfortunately, they both seem to forget just how easy it really is for them to get out of the compromising positions they so readily put themselves in. They have been, shall we say, travelling for many years, and have seen quite a few horrendous creatures in their so called travels. This one just happens to resemble the scorpions of their once home planet Earth.
“Alright Dameon! Hurry and get over here, I’ve got a portal set up… sort of.” Marcus had mumbled the last part to himself, and as a result, Dameon couldn’t call him on his stupidity of not fully finishing the set up. He quickly rushed across the dry and barren landscape towards his brother, jumping over any obstacles and dodging the swipes of the scorpion-like creature behind him. As he was coming up to the swirling pattern of colors encased within the half-assed portal, he managed to get knocked away by one of its pincers. Tumbling backwards and flipping back into a standing position, he drew his blade of choice from his back. An incredibly sharp weapon with even more incredible enchantments placed within the intricate designs of the blades dark metal. The sword seemed to gleam with the shadows surrounding it and, by all rights, should be considered overkill. Its length from pommel to tip was six feet, with the actual blade being five feet four inches. The pommel had a gem within it, named by Dameon, as eye of stars. The gem itself was something to behold, constantly swirling with the darkest of blues, reds, and oranges. Spiralling around the handle and to the guard is a silver dragon with one eye being sapphire and one ruby. The blade itself seemed to be coming from the mouth of the dragon. The metal used to forge the sword came from the dust of a once massive star that had run its course. The dust had drifted through space, slowly condensing before eventually coming to a stop at one of the planets they had visited, and being turned into the raw material used to forge the blade.
Once the creature saw that its meal was going to put up a fight, it quickly tried to poison him. As the barb was coming down above him Dameon side-stepped it and swung the blade in a horizontal motion, effectively severing it from the rest of the armored tail. While the arachnid was busy hissing and thrashing in pain he sprinted to one of its pincers and jumped onto it and continued to sprint up it until he reached a point where he could jump onto its back. Once on top of it he stabbed the blade into the top of its natural armor and stomped the handle pushing it down all the way to the guard of the blade. This only served to make it even more angry, and now it had changed its mindset to revenge instead of just getting a simple meal.
Marcus saw this and quickly joined the fray with his brother, stopping only momentarily to unsheath his weapon. The warhammer he pulled from his back was equally as stunning as his brother’s greatsword. It possessed beautifully crafted designs smithed expertly into the strange metal, and it glowed with an incredible radiance from its gold colored finish. It had a dark blue dragon spiralling along its massive handle, its eyes are a brilliant emerald and amethyst. The hammer shouldn’t have been able to be picked up with its weight, let alone be swung, but Marcus seemed to do both with complete ease. Once he had the weapon fully drawn he quickly charged up to the freak of nature currently occupying his brother. Without a second thought he brought the hammer down with massive force onto its right pincer, breaking through the exoskeleton and rendering it utterly useless. The arachnid brought its damaged sectioned tail around and hit Marcus in his side, sending him sprawling across the desert ground. Dameon took the chance and rushed across the creature; bringing up his sword as he ran, he slashed downwards into the monsters side as he jumped off cutting through its natural armor and into its internal organs. Marcus had made his way back into the fight at this point and decided that they should finish this fight now.
“Dom! Screwdriver! NOW!” Dameon heard Marcus yell over the thrashing of the monster scorpion. He rushed towards his brother and when he reached him he jumped onto the end of his hammer. Marcus continued his current swing and let his brother hurtle off of his hammer, and while Dom was in the air, he started to spin rapidly with his sword extended. When he reached the enemy, he bore a hole completely through it and came out the other side, falling to the ground only breathing slightly more than usual and covered in blood. Eventually, it stopped thrashing and fell to the ground, completely lifeless, with a resounding thud. Dameon had snapped his fingers and instantly himself, his weapon, and his armor were all wiped clean of any blood or gore. As he made his way back to his brother there was a distant rumbling that didn’t go unnoticed by the two.
“Okay, we should’ve done that at first, and hurry up. Whatever is making that noise can’t be friendly.” Came Marcus’ voice from beside his brother, who had finally caught up to him. They made it in front of the portal and prepared to step through its threshold.
“Alright Mark, on three.”
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three!” They stepped through the portal… which still wasn’t complete.
Canterlot Castle, Equestria
Princess Celestia sat upon her throne in the castle, absentmindedly finishing up last minute paperwork before she allowed herself to make her way to the dining hall. It had been another grueling day listening to the requests and proposals of her subjects. She cared deeply for them, but sometimes they don’t bother to listen to themselves and understand just what it is they ask of her.
“I don’t know how I managed to make it so long by myself like this. The fact that Luna is back and helping me now takes a huge burden off of myself,” Celestia said to herself as she flipped through another report. The workload had been reduced significantly since the return of her sister, Princess Luna, who mostly sticks to herself. Celestia being the only pony she really talks to. It isn’t because of her unwillingness to talk to anypony else. It is actually other ponies unwillingness to talk to her because they think she is still the oh so dreaded Nightmare Moon.
The way history had portrayed her as Nightmare Moon was off by a great margin, in fact. She had indeed been slightly jealous of her sister, she would be lying if she said she wasn’t, but something so far fetched as to have an emotion turn her into that evil mare is a ridiculous thought. The fact of the matter was that a she was more or less possessed into doing those things by a creature that only wanted to spread destruction wherever it went. Everything said during the fight between Nightmare and Celestia wasn’t said by Luna at all, and she was forced to watch it all from the backseat of her own body. When she was banished, the elements put her into a deep sleep to keep her safe while the creature silently waited for its time to strike again. By the time the Nightmare had returned and had been destroyed by the elements, Celestia had managed to telepathically tell Luna to act out the whole apology. Luna had agreed to the fact that outright telling everypony that quite a bit of the history they knew about the ordeal was completely fake, wouldn’t be an incredibly wise decision, and if she was being completely honest, she for some reason liked the fact that she had to go through this redemption. It, in her opinion, showed her integrity and willingness to keep on fighting, something she greatly adored in herself. The historians that recorded the original incident had known what actually happened, but they were not the best of ponies and had actually disliked Luna a great amount. So when the chance to ruin her good name came up, they jumped on it.
While Celestia thought about past events Luna had managed to sneak her way into the throne room and beside Celestia while staring over her shoulder. She eventually decided to make herself known and leaned down beside Celestia and whispered a single word into her ear.
“Boo.” She quickly put her hands behind her back and innocently whistled a random tune. Celestia had jumped and let out a very high-pitched shriek while managing to hit her head on the back of the throne.
“Lulu, must you do that every time you come to talk to me?” Celestia said while releasing an annoyed groan towards her sisters childish behavior.
“Well, seeing as how you manage to jump every time I do it hmmm yes. The time you stop getting scared is the time I stop doing it.” Luna couldn’t help herself and eventually started to giggle at her sister’s annoyed expression.
“Okay, well, looks like it’s going to be a long while before you stop because no matter what I try it never seems to help.” Celestia had eventually started to giggle along with her sister while she finished the last of her paperwork.
“Come on Tia I’m hungry and I know you are too. Let’s go eat.”
“No, you go ahead I still have to finish a few things up before I go.”
“Alright your loss, but I heard the chefs are baking your favorite caaaake.” Luna said in a sing-song manner.
“Well, when you put it that way...alright lets go so i can get that ca-” Celestia started to say. She didn’t get to finish; however, as she heard distant screaming slowly growing closer.
“Lulu do you hear that? Come, let’s see who could possibly be screaming right now, they might need some help.” Celestia said as she made her way to the windows in throne room.
“Tia? Do you see that?” She was pointing to two small dots in the evening sky as she said this.
“Yes, I do, and they appear to be headed straight for us.” They both made their way away from the window with slightly worried expressions as the two figures approached at a frightening pace.
Above Canterlot Castle
“MARCUS YOU FUCKING IDIOT! HOW COULD YOU NOT SIMPLY FINISH THE SET UP!?” Dameon was busy yelling at his brother as they were falling at terminal velocity towards a precariously perched castle.
“OKAY, I GET IT! SORRY I WAS MORE CONCERNED FOR YOUR DUMBASS NOT GETTING POKED BY A POISON BARB!”
“HOW SWEET! LOOK JUST BRACE FOR ONE HELL OF AN IMPACT, AND HOPE WE COME OUT OF THIS WITH OUR PRIDE INTACT!” They finished yelling at one another close to two-hundred feet above the castle, and were busy covering their heads with their hands and tucking into themselves to try and lessen the impact. They came barrelling into the castle, busting through the roof, and into the throne room floor leaving a large crater for each of them and a massive cloud of dust. It took the brothers a few minutes to get their bearings and realize exactly where they just crashed, and by the time they did, they were ecstatic.
“Holy...I don’t think that portal was such a fluke anymore Mark.” Dameon finally found his voice after staring wide-eyed at his surroundings for a minute or two.
“Yeah, me either… ooooooooowwwww… oooow… ow. Bro that fall sucked so much.” Marcus had finally gotten up and managed to put some weight on his leg before it started hurting. He had most likely just bruised it badly, and it would heal rather quickly.
“Is it just me? Or does this look like an overly sexy castle?” Mark said while rubbing his shin.
“It isn’t just you Mark, and since this is a castle, let us hope to all that is even remotely holy that the beings that created it are still alive.” At this remark, Princesses Celestia and Luna decided to make themselves known to the two that had crashed into the palace.
“Well then you would be granted your wish, young one.” Came the melodic voice of Princess Celestia. Unfortunately, neither of the man-children could manage to hold their laughter in at what she had said.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… oh… young that is… heh… that’s great.” Mark retorted sarcastically. Both he and his brother eventually settled down enough to at least climb out of the craters, and fix them for being so rude.
“Sorry lady, but you wouldn’t understand where we are coming from. You are the first voice me and my brother have heard besides our own in over a millennium, and we welcome it greatly. But I don’t think you reserve the right to call us young, for one so young yourself.” By the time Mark had finished talking both of the craters they had made were completely fixed and looking brand new. He had just started to turn around when some kind of humanoid horse things, all wearing golden armor, brandishing spears, and having very pissed off looks on their faces appeared in front of him.
“Well alright, I’m guessing you guys would be the dominant life form on this planet? While I agree your enthusiasm to guard whatever it is you’re guarding is commendable. Not one of you would be able to even slightly harm me or my brother here.” Mark finished while waving a hand towards his brother to come over to his side. These horse guys weren’t very intimidating, and their height did nothing to help it. Marcus was seven feet and one inch tall while Dameon was six feet eleven inches. These guys came up to around five feet ten inches on average, and it was pretty funny to the brothers to see the uncertainty in their eyes.
“I would appreciate if you kept such smug comments to yourself before you go assuming things. I would honestly like to find out more about the two of you. It isn’t every day you get two more old and powerful beings come crashing down into your castle now is it?” Luna had finally decided to allow her own input into the conversation, and it was at this time that the two brothers decided to finally take notice of the equally tall beings within their presence.
“Wow… ya know, for humanoid horse things, you two are pretty cute.” And a resounding facepalm was heard from beside Marcus.

This chapter and maybe a few from this point forward will have some PoV changes among Marcus, Dameon, Luna, and Celestia. Anything thought by them will be in italics.

Canterlot Castle
Marcus and Dameon were being lead through various halls in the castle towards their temporary guest rooms when Marcus tried to strike up a conversation with the guard leading them.
“So, what’s it like standing around watching dust float by all day?” he asked.
“Well I suppose it depends on the pony. I myself happen to love the way it seems to decide it can do whatever in Tartarus it wants, and sticks itself to everything making all my stuff hard to clean,” the guard said looking back and up to Marcus with a small smirk.
“Holy shit we got a talker, I honestly expected none of you to talk to us,” Dameon said looking down to the guard with a smile.
“Well, while you’ll hear from other guards that a professional atmosphere is the best way to keep the castle and the Princesses safe, that isn’t necessarily true in my opinion. What do you two think? Would you rather know somepony and their capabilities through a couple of conversations and friendly competition, or through weeks, maybe months, of observation that doesn’t necessarily hold true?” the guard asked the brothers.
“You sir, seem to know your stuff. What’s your name?” asked Marcus.
“Silver Streak, and yours?” the guard now named Silver Streak responded.
“I’m Marcus, and this awkward looking guy here is my brother Dameon!” Marcus said while swinging an arm around Dameon’s shoulder.
“Love the introduction Mark,” Dameon said with a small smile towards his brother’s antics.
“Hey, we’re here. I hope I can get to see you two again soon. If you ever need an extra hand you guys ask for me alright,” Silver said to the brothers while showing them their rooms.
“Alright thanks Silver, and you be careful around that dust man. Shits some crazy stuff,” Marcus said while walking towards his room.
“Will do Marcus, have a good night see you two later hopefully.” And with that, the two brothers entered their rooms… just to walk right back out of them once they heard Silver leave.
“Alright dude let’s do this,” Marcus said walking into Dameon’s room.
“Right, here you grab the bottom and I’ll get the top,” came Dameon’s reply.
“Okay one… two… three… up. Alright, here let me go first.”
“Damn this thing is big. Okay twist your end to the right, aaand now we walk.”
“Okay, twist your side now Dom.”
“Gotcha, alright now walk it over there and let’s put it down.”
“There we go. Alright man, goodnight. Now get some sleep,” Marcus said to Dameon.
“I will. See ya in the morning,” Dameon replied as he walked over to his bed now placed in front of the wall opposite Marcus’. They hadn’t slept far away from one another in nearly a millennium, and the fact they were on a world with aliens they didn’t fully trust yet, hadn’t allowed them to break this habit just yet. Although they definitely could, but they didn’t feel fully comfortable with the inhabitants to be too far apart from one another and just didn’t feel like risking it. If Celestia and Luna had a problem with it, then they would just have to deal with it.
The brothers had stripped down to just their boxers and flopped onto the beds and under the covers before slowly drifting into a restful slumber, but not before Marcus whispered a few words in an ancient and long forgotten language.
Dameon’s PoV
I slowly opened my eyes and looked around at my surroundings before letting out an almost inaudible chuckle.Well I suppose I can’t complain, it has been a while since he’s done this afteral.
“ALRIGHT MARK COME ON OUT, LET’S DO THIS!” I yelled out across the grassy plain I was currently standing in while I summoned my beautiful sword that I had named Venom to my side. I slowed my breathing and focused on my surroundings, looking for the smallest disturbance in the air, and I had noticed it just in time too. Mark had come sprinting towards me at incredible speed with his warhammer held beside him, poised for a strike, and he had started to bring it down on me. I barely had time to dodge the attack and Marcus easily noticed it, and didn’t let go of it.
“Already getting slow Dom? Only been a few months,” Mark said to me with a small chuckle and smile while he straightened his stance and brought his hammer to rest over his right shoulder.
“You got lucky man. Just shut up and let’s get this started, so I can finish it.” I said with a cocky smirk directed towards him. As soon as I took up a stance with my right foot slightly in front of the left, we dashed towards each other, and began a tradition that we had been doing ever since we took on these powers.
Luna’s PoV
I had just finished getting ready for and slipping into bed before casting my dream walking spell when I felt a slight ripple of magic flow across me. I thought nothing of it and finished casting the spell and felt myself drift into another plane entirely, but I immediately noticed something was off as I looked around and noticed that I was standing in a grassy plain, not the usual clearing in the forest. Somepony had messed with the dreamscape in a dramatic way, and it unnerved me slightly.
I heard an audible CLANG in the distance and began to follow where I heard the sound come from, floating lazily along with my wings. Once I discovered the source of the sound, to say I was horrified would be an understatement. Because in front of me lied my new acquaintances, Dameon and Marcus, with blood splattered across their forms, both breathing heavily and in a kneeling position. Marcus began to slowly lift himself from his position, as did Dameon, and they looked at each other before picking up the weapons at their sides and dashing towards one another. Right as Dameon was bringing his sword down for a slash against Marcus, I steeped in.
“WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE NIGHT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW!?” They immediately stopped, looked at me, back to each other, then to me again, and promptly dropped their weapons and fell to their backs while laughing. I was absolutely appalled at the display, but I wanted answers to why they were attacking each other, and I wanted them now.
“HOW COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE FUNNY!? EXPLAIN TO ME HOW ALMOST KILLING YOUR OWN BROTHER IS FUNNY?” Both of them eventually stopped and looked over to me while Marcus began to speak.
“Yeah hang on Luna I’ll explain in a sec, just let me get Celestia in here.” When he said this I adopted a look of surprise and was about to speak my confusion on just how he could do that because as far as I knew, I was the only being able to traverse the dreamscape like this and the only way anypony besides me could enter it was with my help, but apparently these two could somehow do that as well. Before I could say anything I saw him close his eyes and heard him whisper some strange dialect with the only word me being able to understand as Celestia along with a small whirlwind picking up beside him, and the blood on him and his brother along with their injuries slowly starting to fade. Once I saw this, I decided to hold my tongue and just watch while studying the scene with a curious gaze.
Celestia’s PoV
The last thing I remembered before appearing in this strange swirling wind was having just fallen asleep, and the fact that it happened so abruptly surprised me enough to not watch where I had stepped. I had tried to step out of the wind barrier only to trip and start to fall, but I had not fallen on the ground as I had thought I would. I had instead fallen into somepony’s, or in this case someone’s, arms. During the fall I had apparently wrapped my arms around and buried my face into whoever it was that caught me, I would have to guess it was some kind of self-preservation instinct; however, when I looked up and found out who it was that I was holding onto, I felt a small tinge of red make its way onto my cheeks.
Marcus was looking down at me with an amused smirk and a raised eyebrow, and when I saw that, I scrambled to my hooves in an attempt to at least save some of my dignity. Once we were both standing up, I took notice of Dameon and Luna both staring at us and snickering at the scene that had just unfolded, before Marcus spoke up.
3rd person PoV
“Alright, so Luna allow me to explain exactly just what it is you had walked in on. Celestia, I brought you here as well be-” he didn’t get to finish speaking though because Luna interrupted him.
“Yes, please explain to me just how you and your brother can traverse the dreamscape, and bring another being into it with just a few words and why you two decided to spend your time here trying to KILL one another!” Luna was still harboring a very aggravated attitude towards the situation she had come upon, and she still definitely wanted her answers.
“Luna, I could get to that if you would let me talk ya know,” Marcus responded towards the darker colored alicorn.
“Wait, you two were trying to kill each other!? WHY IN TARTARUS WOULD YOU BE DOING THAT!?” Celestia was afraid for the safety of the brother’s sanity, and relationship. The fight between Nightmare Moon and her may not have been because of Luna, but that still didn’t stop not being able to see your own sister for a thousand years from hurting. She didn’t want killing your own sibling to be on anypony’s conscience, either if it was by accident or, god forbid, purposeful, and she was going to keep it from happening, even if it killed her herself.
“While we appreciate the concern you two, it is wrongly placed. Luna it seems to me that you have knowledge of this place, and since you do, the fact that not only can you not die in here, but any wounds obtained here don’t hurt, don’t last, and don’t transfer to your real body, should be known to you,” Dameon said to the sisters.
“I… you’re right, I do know that, but it still doesn’t explain to me why you guys were fighting,” Luna rebuked.
“Well that’s a little bit of a longer story, and I suppose since we can still be mostly rested while being in this place we can give it to you,” Marcus started, “ But you two should probably imagine up something a bit more covering, not that I mind it, but I’m sure it wouldn’t befit a princess to leave herself so uncovered.” When he had finished talking, both Princesses looked down and let out quite an adorable feminine shriek at the fact that they were both still in their night-gowns before both of their horns glowed and there was a flash of light that left the two covered in casual clothing and an aggravated look towards the smug looking brothers. Princess Celestia had adopted a slight blush again as well at the fact that she had fallen onto Marcus like that.
“Alright, sorry about that Princesses,” Marcus paused to chuckle lightly at the two before he continued, “But as for why you are here Celestia, I figured if we were going to give your sister some more of our history, might as well give it to you as well. Now the reason we were fighting like we were, wasn’t because of any kind of grudge, it was just the simple fact that we like to keep our combat effectiveness up by having a friendly… hmm, shall we say, ‘spar’ every so often, and our old masters had taught me a few words in an ancient and powerful language that allowed multiple persons to be able to share the same dreamscape. Which in turn had allowed us to fight without actually harming one another. Although the fact that you had entered our dream was probably a fluke Luna, what I want to know is how exactly you managed to come here without my knowledge. So could you please enlighten me?”
“Well I had actually felt a small surge of magic pass by me just as I was preparing my dream walking spell, it’s possible that that was your own magic, and that it mingled with my spell thus transporting me here instead of the place I usually go to watch for anything trying to harm our ponies through their dreams,” Luna replied.
“Ahh… that would actually explain it, and now that were all here and the confusion has cleared, is there anything more you would like to know about us before we get to your own history?” Dameon asked with a curious gaze pointed towards Celestia and Luna.
“Yes, actually, there is. I would like to know just how old you two are exactly, and in turn Luna and I will tell you how old we are,” Celestia told the brothers. Dameon started with a sad but small sigh, and quickly decided to keep himself away from the train of that he was leading himself towards before speaking.
“Well Celestia, I myself am one-thousand-seven-hundred and sixty-two years old, while Mark over here is one-thousand-seven-hundred and sixty-four years old.” Both Celestia and Luna looked at them with wide eyes and a slightly open mouth.
“I… I honestly am quite surprised to hear that. You two are both just a little over sixty years older than we are, and apparently now take our place as second and third oldest beings on the planet,” Luna told the brothers and observed their faces take on a look of shock.
“Wait just a minute, you two are both only sixty years younger than us, and there’s someone, or something, that’s older than us on the planet!? Well why the hell didn’t you tell us earlier?” Marcus said with no small amount of confusion and enthusiasm at having someone else to talk to that wouldn’t just waste away.
“We actually did tell you that we are, in fact, immortal while we were dining earlier, but not the part about something being older than you two. Did you not hear us? Or were you just not paying attention?” Celestia said with a smile.
“I think that part may have been when we were ordering our meals, sorry,” Dameon said with a sheepish grin towards the sisters.
“Think nothing of it, it isn’t a big deal afteral, but may I ask just how exactly you two came across the beings that trained and gave you your powers?” asked Luna and Marcus took the initiative to reply
“Sure, the story isn’t the best though, and if at any point you need clarification let us know. But I see no problem in telling it to you as long as you two give us a little bit about your history. So, let the story commence.”
Earth, United States, Tennessee
“HOLY SHIT! THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST VACATION EVER!” came Dameon’s frantic yelling. The brothers, along with their uncle and dad, were enjoying a nice vacation in the Smoky Mountains that run through Tennessee, otherwise known as the Appalachian Mountains. They had been sitting in the cabin that they had rented out for the week, when their dad had gotten a call from his superior telling them to pack up and head into the mountains where they would be given further instructions on where to go and what to do. The call had been about an attack from Chinese air forces that were headed their way with multiple destinations targeted. The brother’s dad was an important person to the United States military and he had happened to be one of the targets. All of them were surprised at this revelation, especially since this was the first attack on U.S. soil in many, many, years, and Dameon was pretty scared at the moment because he definitely hadn’t expected this.
“DOM! SHUT UP AND HELP YOUR BROTHER PACK THE FOOD!”
“Okay, okay, deep breaths, sorry for panicking dad, but this is just crazy. Why now of all times?” Dameon asked to no one in particular.
“Dom, it isn’t as if you could have predicted this, it’s none of our faults. All we can do now is make it to the mountains and hope to ride this thing out until we can get the military to come evacuate us to safer ground, or they tell us where to head to,” said the brother’s uncle, Jack, with a comforting smile and hand on his shoulder.
“Right, alright, we’re almost done here then we can leave. DAD! YOU GOT EVERYTHING READY!?” yelled Marcus as he was walking into the room with two camping backpacks in his hands. His reply came in the form of another bag being hurtled across the room at him. He quickly dropped the ones he was currently holding and grabbed the one coming at him out of the air.
“Good, at least you actually were paying attention to what I was teaching you. You can’t properly def-” he was cut off by Marcus.
“You can’t properly defend yourself if you don’t always pay attention to your surroundings” yes dad, I do pay attention thank you. So are we ready to get out of here before those bombers get to us?” Marcus asked.
“Yeah Marcus we are, so give one of those bags to your brother and let’s go,” his uncle replied. He did as he was asked and all four of them made their way to the truck they had parked in the front, throwing the bags in the bed of it before each taking a seat inside.
“Alright guys, here’s what we’re gonna do. Once we reach an area at least ten miles from the nearest town, we get out, unpack, head into the mountains, and wait for further orders from the higher ups. Got it?” their dad gave them the run down from the driver’s seat. He got a nod from each of them. Once they were on the road they noticed that everyone else in the area they were staying in didn’t seem to have a care in the world. The news hadn’t reached them yet, which was good for them because they didn’t need to fight traffic to get out, but hopefully it would get to the public before the bombers could.
After they made it to the outskirts of the town, they took a left down a road that led to a remote patch of campground that not many people used. Once they had made it to the campground, they jumped out of the truck and unloaded all of the bags. Marcus had looked over to his dad and noticed him pulling a hunting rifle from under the back seat of the truck, and when he turned to look at him he went back into the truck before pulling out a six-shot revolver and handing it to Marcus with a nod. Marcus looked up to his dad before nodding back to him and grasping the handle of the revolver and placing it onto the side of the bag in between a couple of straps.
Dameon had just finished adjusting the bag on his back and the duffel bag around his shoulder when he had heard what sounded like a plane going by, and when he looked up he began to panic.
“Dad!? Jack!? WHAT IS THAT!?” he had been pointing towards at least 23 small dots in the sky that were slowly descending towards them.
“Oh shit, Dan! Please tell me those aren’t paratroopers!” Jack yelled towards his brother.
“I hate to tell you it Jack, but they are,” he let out a heavy sigh before continuing, “I guess the bombers were just a distraction. You still remember all that training? I know its been awhile, but we need it now.”
“Yeah I do, but I’d rather not use it now. Let’s head into the forest and see if we can’t lay low and hide from them,” as Jack was talking he motioned his nephews and brother over and all four of them stepped into the forest.
They had been walking for almost two hours and it was currently eight in the afternoon. They figured it was dark enough to make camp at this point, and Dan had set up a fairly large lean-to in between two trees that had a woodland camouflage tarp resting on top of it, along with multiple branches and leaves covering it helping it to blend in. Once it was complete they all stepped under it and into their sleeping bags, with Marcus slipping the revolver into his sleeping bag with him, and covering the entrance afterwards, letting Jack take the first watch.
An hour and a half into his watch Jack heard distant talking, and went inside the lean-to to wake his brother.
“Dan, wake up, there’s a group of what sounds like six people to the east of here, and they sound like they’re headed our way,” he was whispering so as to not wake the brothers up or alert anyone to their location.
“Alright Jack,” he sighed, “hang on a second.”
He got out of his sleeping bag and went to pick up his rifle before noticing Marcus beside him with his hand laying outside of the bag, palm face-up. He looked from Marcus to Dameon and smiled sadly at his two sons. They had grown up to be strong men and he was extremely proud of the choices they had made. He sighed for the third time that day, and took his dog tags from around his neck, placing them in Marcus’ hand and closing his fingers around them.
“Goodbye you two, I know you’ll do me proud, just like you always have. I love you two so much,” as he was whispering to himself he wiped a stray tear from his eye before pushing the flap out of his way and heading over to his brother, who had already gotten his own revolver from his bag.
“Alright Jack, let’s lead those bastards away from here, so my sons can live a full and happy life,” he said with a grim but determined attitude, and he and Jack both made their way towards the enemy, sneaking their way there, avoiding anything that could possibly give their position away.

Canterlot Castle
“DUDE! Would you stop!? It’s not like it hurt anyone!” Came the frantic reply from non other than Marcus. After his impromptu comment, Marcus had been set upon by his brother trying to keep anymore unnecessary comments from spewing forth from his mouth.
“Mark! What! The! Hell!,” each word was accentuated with a slap to the face. “Our first meeting with another sentient species since the war, and you go off and ruin everything with that stupid mouth of yours!” It was quite easy to tell just how mad he was. Which may have been seen as well founded considering they are the first, last, and only humans to have ever talked to another sentient species. It was at this time that Princess Luna decided to speak up, having watched the whole ordeal in quiet amusement with her sister, both stifling a laugh at the ridiculous nature of the two.
“Well in all honesty, it doesn’t really matter. No harm, no foul I suppose. But we really should get down to business and figure out just what exactly you two are, what you’re doing here, and why we should even let you stay in our realm.” She had been talking as she and her sister walked up to the two, both of which had finally taken the time to actually look at Celestia and Luna. And when they did, to say they were stunned would be an understatement.
The white one, they referred to her as because no name had been given yet, had a pristine white coat with an almost unnoticeable tint of pink to it. Her hair, or mane may be the correct term, was flowing in an ever present breeze, and it only seemed to affect her and her sister. It was made up of beautiful shades of cerulean, turquoise, heliotrope, and cobalt blue that accentuated each other perfectly, and her eyes were an amazing shade of magenta outlined by long eyelashes and light eyeliner and seemed to hold endless wisdom. Where feet would normally be on a human, hooves were found instead, and slipped over her hooves were intricately designed golden shoes. Travelling upwards from there they found that she was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans that hugged her form nicely and allowed her tail to hang out the back through a hole without constricting her. She had a wonderfully crafted royal purple blouse with a golden trim hanging loosely over her, along with a golden necklace that had a shimmering amethyst embedded into the pendant. Resting comfortably on her back were the unmistakable feathered appendages named wings; although the length that was boasted by them could not be seen, it was quite clear to the two that they definitely are not something to be questioned about. Her face had soft features and an amused smirk placed upon her muzzle. Just above her forehead was an ivory colored horn that’s about ten inches in length. She was about an inch shorter than Marcus, not including her horn, and seemed to be slightly annoyed by that fact. She had been the tallest non-dragon being in her world until these two came along, and actually having to look up to another being was something she hadn’t had to do in a very long time.
Once their eyes came to rest upon Princess Luna, they became equally surprised at her look as they were with Celestia’s. Resting over her hooves were a set of silver shoes that go perfectly with her coat color, which is a very dark shade blue, almost black. She too wore a pair of jeans that hugged her nicely, but instead of a loose fitting blouse, she had a tightly fitting light blue tank top that shows off her curves in just the right ways. Her mane flowed in the same breeze as her white-coated counterpart, but hers was a beautiful dark blue with hues of violet and indigo flowing throughout it. It seemed to hold the night sky itself and is constantly shimmering with the ‘stars’ placed through it. Her eyes held a wonderful shade of cerulean within them, and gave off an aura of power and wisdom. Her muzzle held a small smile that showed she doesn’t want any trouble to be had, and would like to have a pleasant conversation instead. She too had a horn, although it was about an inch shorter than Celestia’s. Placed on her back was a pair of wings just as majestic as her sister’s, and they held the same quality that said they allow for an absolutely incredible flight.
Once the brothers had finished their inspection of the sisters, they noticed just exactly where they had come in, and quickly set about fixing it while apologizing profusely to the royal sisters.
“They are an odd pair of… things, are they not sister?” Luna asked from beside Celestia.
“Yes, quite, and it would seem these two to have an immense amount of power to have been able to fall from so high and barely hurt themselves, and then go about completely fixing what they had done afterwards. If not monitored, they could prove to be a problem.” Celestia had been watching the brothers fix the roof of the throne room, and anything that happened to be damaged in the crash as she talked. She was surprised, to say the least, that they were able to go about levitating the huge chunks of marble, along with the smaller crushed pieces, and fuse them back into their place as if there had been absolutely no damage done whatsoever.
“Guards, please inform the chefs that we will be having two guests dining with us tonight,” Celestia said. The currently acting guard captain, although not trusting the creatures in the least, snapped to attention, saluted, and went about telling her it would be done.
“Yes, Princess, I will inform them at once.” Once he had finished speaking he dropped his salute, did an about face, and marched out of the room with the rest of the guards in tow, which was a total of three including him.
“Ugh! Tia hurry up, and you two, follow us. Me and my sister here would like to know exactly what you are and why you are here, as well as finally being able to eat something.” Upon the mention of food, Marcus and Dameon decided to just follow them. It had, after all, been almost two days since they last ate, and the mere notion of food was enough to allow their stomachs to rumble.
“Okay then, we’ll follow you, but only if you allow us to eat as well,” Dameon said. Both he and Marcus became pleasantly surprised that the sisters had already went about asking for a spot at the table for the two of them.
“That has already been arranged. Now, please stick close to us. Wouldn’t want our guards to point more spears in your faces now would we?” Celestia said with a slight hint of amusement in her voice.
“It doesn’t matter very much ma’am. I highly doubt they would be able to harm us,” Marcus had finally slipped into a more formal way of talking, not wanting to ruin the brother’s chances with his habit of speaking before thinking.
“Mark, how you manage to sound polite while still being a douche is beyond me,” Dameon said while rolling his eyes at his brother.
“How exactly am I being even remotely like that?” Marcus asked with a genuine hint of confusion in his voice.
“Bro, do you listen to yourself? You pretty much just said that her guards are useless against us. Outright saying something like that isn’t generally a good thing to say in front of someone who has enough pull to even have her own guards,” Dameon replied. They had finally started on their way to wherever the sister’s were taking them, and had started to go down multiple hallways with intricate paintings and other decorations strewn about. Everything looked pristine and fit for a castle, which considering they were in one, makes sense. Marcus decided to ask Celestia just exactly where it was they were being taken to.
“Uh hey, white lady, where exactly is it you guys are taking us?” once Marcus had asked his question Dameon turned to look at him with a look that screamed ‘you’re an idiot’, Luna looked at him with mild amusement, and Celestia couldn’t help but laugh at the comment.
“I have been called many things in my life, but not once has anypony called me white lady,” Celestia said after her laughing fit. Marcus and Dameon looked at her with raised eyebrows.
“Anypony? That certainly is new. And now that i think about it, how are we even speaking to each other right now?” as soon as Dameon had asked this, his brother looked at him with a smirk.
“Alright Dom, we of all people should know the answer to that question. With how many galaxies, stars, planets, and possibly universes there are out there, the possibility of finding another planet with a species that speaks the same language as us was always there. But the fact that we went so long without even seeing another sentient creature, shows just how bad our luck really was. And the fact that we not only have crash landed into a planet with another sentient species, but one that speaks our own language, is enough evidence for me to say that our luck is finally turning around!” By the time Marcus was done talking he seemed to be exploding with excitement, and he has a good reason to be. Not speaking to anyone except your brother for over a millennium isn’t a very good way to satiate your boredom.
“Yeah, thanks for reminding me Mark. Could you, uh… stop being so obnoxious now? I’m glad you’re back to being ya know… you, but right now isn’t the best time.” Dameon, of course, loved when his brother acted this way, even if it was a little bit immature. It showed that even after how much they had gone through, how long they had been together, and how much they knew about one another. They always stayed themselves, and nothing could come in between them. The bond they shared was one that no matter what happened to the two, it could not, and would not be broken.
“Yeah, yeah, sorry I got a little carried away. And why’d we stop? Are we finally here?” Marcus asked his guides.
“Yes, we have arrived at the dining hall. Now please, be yourselves… mostly. My sister and I would like to see what kind of…” Celestia trailed off with a thoughtful look trying to figure out what to call the two.
“Humans ma’am,” replied Dameon thoughtfully.
“Thank you. Anyway, we would like to see just what kind of ‘humans’ you two are. So please don’t hesitate to ask for anything once you are seated, enjoy your meals, and at least answer a few of our questions.” After she finished talking, Princess Celestia turned around and opened the huge doors leading to the dining hall with her magic, which surprised the humans behind her. Something that didn’t go unnoticed by Princess Luna.
Once they all had been seated, a waiter dressed in a finely tailored tuxedo came out to them. He gained a slight look of surprise at the two new additions, but it was quickly hidden behind a mask of professionalism.
“Good evening Princesses, what wou-” he didn’t have the chance to finish what he was saying though. Because when he said the word ‘princesses’, the brothers yelled out in astonishment.
“PRINCESSES! HOW HAVE WE NOT REALIZED THEY WERE ROYALTY!?” They yelled at the same time to each other. Princess Luna decided to finally tell the two exactly who they had been addressing in a mostly casual manner.
“Yes, my name is Princess Luna, co-ruler of Equestria, Raiser of the Moon, and Guardian of the Night. And this is my older sister and co-ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia, Raiser of the Sun, and Keeper of the Day. I, for one, am surprised that neither of you had noticed our crowns yet.” She said while pointing to the crown placed on top of her head. Once Marcus and Dameon had looked up and finally took notice of the crowns, they both simultaneously facepalmed, and went about apologizing… again.
“We are sooo sorry Princesses. We had no idea, and will take any punishment you see fit,” said Dameon.
“Well I don’t know about any punishment, but yes Princesses, we are so very sorry for our behavior earlier. It was rude and uncalled for, and we wish to make up for it in any way possible,” Marcus had managed to sound at least moderately sincere in his apology to Princess Celestia and Luna.
“It’s fine you two. If we had wanted you to know, we would have told you. But in all honesty, having somepony address us so casually is actually quite, refreshing, and the fact that neither of you are actually citizens of Equestria, or any other nation on the planet, allows you do just that. So please, continue to address us as you would a friend or a casual acquaintance. I myself, would actually enjoy it if you refer to me as Celestia.” After Celestia had finished talking Luna spoke up.
“And i would like it if you were to refer to me as Luna,” she said.
“Okay, okay, sorry for our outburst, but I refuse to call you Celestia and Luna,” the aforementioned ponies looked shocked, until Dameon continued, “unless you refer to me as Dameon, or Dom.” Celestia looked at him with slight amount of aggravation, as did Luna, but nothing was said until Marcus decided to reply as well.
“And please call me Marcus, or Mark, for short.” Marcus said with a smile.
“Okay, now that that’s over with, can we please get back to the part about eating food?” asked Dameon. Marcus looked over to him while snickering at his insistence to get some food on the table.
“Yes, please continue, my good man,” chimed Marcus.
“Yes, yes, as I was saying Princesses, what would you and your err… guests, like to eat this evening?” the waiter asked in with a surprisingly deep voice.
“I would like the Pappardelle with Mushrooms, and I would like just water to drink please,” Celestia told the stallion.
“I will be having the same please,” Luna said.
“Uhh, you guys have any steak?” When Marcus mentioned steak, Celestia looked at Marcus and Dameon before turning to the waiter and whispering something in his ear. Once she was done, he walked out and another took his place. Except this one was definitely not a pony. Protruding from his face was a golden beak with a black spot just on the tip. He also harbored fur of some kind, the brothers guessed a big cat, maybe a lion? And when one looked at his neck they would find that instead of fur, feathers took the place. They weren’t very big, but more like the feathers of an eagle. Instead of hands, like the ponies and humans had, he had talons like that of a bird of prey. Traveling downwards one could see the distinguishable back paws and tail of a lion, although they were slightly altered to allow an upright posture. He also appeared to be in a white chef’s hat and uniform.
“Good evening, Princess Celestia, Luna,” he then turned to look at the brothers with a friendly smile on his beak, which confused the two greatly, “I must say that when that stallion came to me and said that there were meat-eaters here that weren’t dragons or griffons, I was slightly skeptical, but I see I was proven wrong. Now, what can I get you two?” The griffon asked. Marcus looked over to Celestia.
“He’s a griffon?” He asks with a raised eyebrow and thumb pointing towards the extra member in the room.
“Yes Marcus, he is. There are also dragons, minotaurs, zebras, a single draconequus, who is currently imprisoned in stone, and of course us ponies, who fall within four categories. Pegasi, who have wings, no horn, and are generally lighter and quicker than the other races; they also control the weather. Then there are the unicorns, who hold a horn, no wings, and can use magic. There are also earth ponies, who have neither a horn nor wings, but generally hold more strength and are more resilient than unicorns and pegasi. And finally there are the alicorns, which is the category Luna and I belong to, and they are a mixture of all three races. There are currently only four alicorns in existence, but my sister and I are the only two immortal ones.” Dameon and Marcus listened attentively to Celestia’s little lecture, and had silently ordered their meals from the griffon during it. Dameon getting a nine-ounce sirloin with steamed broccoli, and this worlds equivalent to lemon-lime soda, which he missed greatly. While Marcus ordered a ribeye with chopped potatoes, and the same drink as Dameon. But they completely missed the statement about the two alicorns across from them being immortal.
“Could you two excuse us for a moment?” Dameon started, “I think it would be best if we took our armor and weapons off.” Once he had finished talking, both he and his brother stood up from their seats and began to carefully take their exquisitely crafted armor off. They started with their gauntlets, and after they took them off, began with their pauldrons. Once they had them off, they took off the brassart, which is what covers from the elbow to up under the pauldrons. After they were finished with that, they began with lifting the curiasses over their heads and gently setting them down on the floor of the dining hall, and then working on taking off the chausses and greaves. Afterwards they got down to the boots and slipped them off and laid them beside the pile of armor.
“Okay, now I think we need some actually clothing,” once Marcus was done talking both he and his brother snapped their fingers, which was accompanied by a flash of light, followed by the two standing there in well fitted casual clothes.
Marcus had on a bright blue t-shirt with a dark blue outline that was just tight enough to show off his muscles, which were not overly big. He, of course, had the physique one would see on a person that greatly values staying healthy, or was in the military, and is proud of that fact. Placed around his neck and over his shirt, was a beaded necklace with two tags resting at the bottom of it. His hair was cut into a crew cut, and was a medium dark blonde. He has an interesting condition known as heterochromia iridis, in which one iris is a different color than the other, and is actually quite fond of it. One of his eyes was a brilliant dark blue while the other is an emerald green, and they seemed be full of energy. He had a very slight pointed chin and fairly chiseled jaw-line with a small amount of stubble running along his cheeks and down around his mouth and chin. He was also wearing blue jeans that are neither too tight nor too loose, and a pair of orange running shoes with blue laces.
His brother had somewhat longer hair that hadn’t seen a brush in a while, and was light brown. His eyes held pools of emerald, and they have seen a great amount in his time alive. While his jaw-line is mostly the same as his brothers, his chin is more rounded and he lacks the stubble on his cheeks and jaw, only opting to have it around his chin and upper lip. He too had a beaded necklace laying around his neck and over his crimson-colored t-shirt. The shirt fit nicely over his body, which was nearly the same physique as his brother’s, except for him being shorter. His jeans were a darker shade, but held the same fit to his body as his brother’s, and his shoes were a dark blue with orange laces.
After the two had checked to make sure everything was in order, Marcus snapped his fingers while sitting down and their armor and weapons disappeared in a flash of light, waiting to be called upon should they need them again.
“Ahh much better, being stuck in that armor for such long periods of time really tires you out. Does it not?” Dameon asked looking towards his brother with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah it definitely does, and look, here comes our food. Man I’m hungry,” Marcus said while looking towards the unicorn levitating their food beside him. Once he got to the table and placed the food, he did a small bow, and walked back from whence he came.
“Okay this looks really good,” Dameon looked towards Celestia and continues, “give your chefs my regards.”
“I will make sure to, but may I ask what those necklaces you two are wearing are?” Celestia asked the brothers, and Marcus replies.
“I suppose so, you are giving us a meal afteral. These necklaces are referred to as dog tags, and they were a way for our nations military to keep track of its soldiers. Mine belonged to our father, who died fighting in a war, and Dom’s belonged to his brother, our uncle, who died fighting alongside him.” Luna finally asks a question of her own to the brothers.
“Where do you two come from?”
“Well, we came from a country named the United States of America, on our planet named Earth, and it was a global powerhouse at the time. Now as to how we came about getting ourselves here, that’s quite a long story, “ Marcus replied to her question.
“Could you tell us how you did end up here?” Luna asked, and Dameon decided to take the lead and tell them the story about how they had ended up going through a portal that shouldn’t have been used in the first place.
“And how did you manage to get the ability to make portals that allow for such long range transportation in the first place?” asked Celestia. Marcus started of on the explanation.
“When we were young, about twenty-three and twenty-one, me being the oldest, a war started on our planet known as World War III, at least by us, no one else is alive to record it now.”
“Wait, how many wars has your planet seen?” Luna asks.
“Oh god, so many. Our species had been warring since they were first able to make spears with sharpened rocks. Of course, World War III was a whole different kind of war. One that actually brought the end of the planet itself,” Celestia and Luna let out surprised gasps at this, and Dameon continued in the place of Marcus.
“Yeah, it definitely was a terrible time for us, but it was made better by two beings that were, passing by, so to speak, on their travels. They ended up taking us in, and took us away from our planet just before the nukes started to drop,” Celestia interrupted him.
“And what, pray tell, is a nuke?” Marcus picked back up.
“A nuke is a weapon of mass destruction that leaves radiation in its wake after exploding. The areas they are dropped in can’t be returned to for thousands of years sometimes. Anyway once they took us in, they told us a little bit about themselves and what they did, which is pretty much just travel the universe helping anything they can, and then told us that they needed replacements because they would like to retire. Now me and Dom were incredibly skeptical at first, and understandably so. I mean, our planet knew nothing about magic or any other kind of supernatural force. Eventually though, they convinced us, mostly because we had nothing to go back to, and they started our training.”
“So let me get this straight. You two came from a war-torn world that knew absolutely nothing about magic, got picked up by two mysterious strangers that just so happen to be ‘traveling’, “ Luna said while using her fingers to make air quotes, “and ended up taking the place of those two?”
“Hmm… pretty much yeah,” replied Dameon to the Lunar Princess.
“I hate to cut this conversation short, but I need to lower the sun and you need raise the moon Lulu, and then we need to find our guests here some rooms,” Celestia quickly said to keep any more conversations from springing up. All parties involved in the dinner had completely finished their meal and were fully satisfied.
“Alright Tia, “ they all stood up from the table and Luna’s and Celestia’s horns began to glow while they looked up through the glass on the ceiling allowing the light through, and the light from the sun slowly faded away giving way to the soft glow of the moon’s rays. Celestia then looked over to Marcus and Dameon and started speaking to them.
“Okay you two, I feel we can trust you enough to allow you both a room in the castle. We will continue this conversation in the morning, so please allow yourselves to be well rested. This guard will escort you to your rooms.” She had waved a guard posted at the doors over to them and gave him his orders once she was done speaking.
“This isn’t really necessary, but thank you nonetheless. My brother and I will speak to you in the morning goodnight Celestia, Luna,” replied Marcus with a nod of his head in the direction of the each of the sisters.
“Yes, I enjoyed the meal and hope to talk to you both again soon, have a good night,” Dameon said. As they were being escorted out of the dining hall doors Celestia turned to Luna and began to speak.
“They definitely are two interesting beings Lulu. Let’s go to sleep as well, I’m looking forward to the rest of their story, and I want to be well rested for it.”
“Okay Tia, let’s go. I had a most enjoyable day today, and I too wish to be well rested for tomorrow.” And with that statement the regal sisters began their walk to their bed chambers to rest for the night, and think on what Dameon and Marcus had told them.
