Prologue:
‘My Little Pony, My Little Pony
Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh...’
‘Ahh...another episode of My Little Pony’, I thought. To me, this was quite possibly the best TV show to ever come since, well, forever. I especially liked the Mane Six. Twilight’s intelligence and naivety, Pinkie Pie’s energetic personality and even Fluttershy’s, well, shyness, made me want to watch the show. Personally, the biggest reason I even watch the damn show, the show thats meant for little girls, was that no matter what, Twilight and her friends always remained friends. Their friendship was perfect, just like Ponyville, Canterlot and the rest of Equestria.
Unlike my life, which is just crappy. My parents are both multi-billionaires and my older 21-year old brother, who is supposed to be in college, still lives at home with us and smokes weed with his friends. I’ll tell you why soon.
“Easton! Dinner’s ready!”, shouted a rough, yet firm voice. “Ok,Dad! I’ll be there in a sec’!”, I replied. I grabbed the TV remote, turned it off and then got up. I quickly jogged through my bedroom hallway and got to the kitchen entrance. Past the kitchen, sitting at the dining table were three people. As I sat down, my brother, a light-skinned 20-year old with mud brown eyes and the foul stench of weed on his breath, got up out of his chair and quickly walked over to me, with a malicious grin on his face. I tried running away, but he was faster. “What’s up, little bro, still watching that stupid-ass girl’s show again? Ha, you’re so gay!”, Derick Giovanni, my older brother, smugly stated. “Rrraghh, piss off, Derick, you asshole!”, I replied angrily.
After a few more seconds, a pair of strong, rough hands pulled us apart. My step-father, Roberto, was actually pretty buff, six-pack and all, with caramel-colored skin and blazing blue eyes that seemed to pierce your very soul. He adjusted his grip on Derick’s shirt and told him, “Sit down, Derick, and stop annoying your brother.” Then, he slowly turned his gaze toward me. He brought his face close to mine and venomously whispered,“And you. I will see you in my room after dinner for a little chat.”
Now, when a normal adult says this, to you, you sigh in relief. But whenever my dad says this, you know you’re about to get a can of whoop-ass right in the face. If anybody at school asked me how I mysteriously got a black eye or a broken nose, I would say that I “got in a fight” or “just happened to accidentally fall down some stairs”. He would take me into the garage and just as I got down to the bottom step, he would trip me up or grab my hand and throw me to the ground. Hard. Like “my face is going to become a decoration on the floor”hard. Then, he starts throwing jabs, elbows and even haymakers, while I’m still on the ground. He only stops when he calms down or isn’t very angry.
So I looked him in the eye, straight into those ice-blue orbs of hell, and simply said, “Ok. See you.” I quickly break out of his grip and find a seat at the table. My mom, Stella, an olive-skinned woman with emerald-green eyes, quickly said, “Okay, everyone. Dig in! I hope you enjoy it!” I look at my plate and see a prime-rib steak, well-done, with sauteed mushrooms, some oregano on top, and diced carrots as a side dish. I quickly wolfed down my food, but got a glare from my mom. “Honey, please eat more slowly or you might choke.”, she sternly commanded. “Sigh. fine, mom.”, I replied, a hint of agitation in my voice. “Don’t you take that tone of voice with your mother, Easton”, warned my father. I just gave him a slight nod and then returned to my food.
I hurriedly finished my food and dropped it off in the sink. Just as I crossed the threshold to the kitchen, I heard a cough from behind me. “Yes, dad?”, I said, slightly annoyed. “Where you goin’, son?”, my dad asked. “To my room, I need to go do some stuff.”, I replied. “Hmpff.”, my dad grunted. Just before I walked out of view, I saw him give me one last glare before disappearing around a corner.
You see, the reason he didn’t get out of his chair and drag me to his room right now is because I showed him a few years earlier that I had enough of his abuse. I secretly took judo classes for 11 months and trained day and night so that I could protect myself. All the while, Roberto didn’t even suspect a thing. So the next time he led me to his room, I gave him an unpleasant surprise. In 45 seconds, he was on his ass, temporarily paralyzed all over his body and unconscious. We actually had to call paramedics to take him to the hospital. On the ride there, I had trouble holding in my laughter.
After a few days in the hospital, he was able to come home. When he came home, he looked straight into my eyes, and for the the first time in my life, I saw true fear in his eyes. He was afraid. Of me. The boy he abused for eight years, finally kicked his ass.
Anyways, I went to my room. I had a small room with a compact plastic desk and a comfy desk chair. I slept on a slumped bed with only one pillow and a warm comforter sheet. Installed on my wall across from my bed was my 60-inch plasma TV, with a PS4 and a stack of games right under it. But I didn’t feel like playing Battlefield 4 or GTA V (Sorry Trevor, be an idiot on someone else’s console). Instead, I flopped on my bed and saw my crown jewel of all my possesions-my Macbook Air.
I opened up my Mac got on Safari and opened Youtube. I then typed in “Gundam Seed episodes” and picked one at random. (For those of you who don’t know what “Seed” is about, look it up on Google) After turning off the lights and finding my comfy spot, I clicked “play”.
While I am an avid brony, I don’t watch My Little Pony 24/7. My second favorite passion is watching “Gundam”. I even have a few model kits I made, as well. To me, most Gundam series have good plots (no pun intended), well-written storylines and lots of robots destroying stuff.
Anyways, after the episode ended, I closed my Macbook and decided to go to sleep. I didn’t feel like getting out of bed. ‘Well, I guess I just have to deal with bullies, abusive parents, and an annoying brother for the rest of my life. I wish I could get away from all this.’, I thought, ‘Why couldn’t I have gotten a better dad? All my dad does is frickin’ ignore me. He doesn’t even treat me as a HUMAN BEING! And my brother, who should be in college trying to get a degree, instead stays in his room all day and smokes weed with his jobless friends. He’s nothing but a leech on the family. Graah!! I wish I didn’t have to deal with this.’ I started feeling my eyes close, like lead weights were pulling them down, and before I fell asleep, I muttered, “I wish I could go to a better place.”, as darkness overcame my sight.
As I opened my eyes once more, I saw that I was hovering in a featureless black area , just me floating in a vast sea of nothingness. “Hello, is anybody there?”, I yelled. Silence greeted me. Frustrated, I floated forward, but immediately stopped, knowing that I would just go on for eternity. “Hello, child.”, a deep, booming voice greeted. ‘The heck? Where did that voice come from?’, I thought. “I am able to hear your thoughts, Easton.”, the voice suddenly spoke. “What!? How are you able to read my thoughts? How do you know my name? More importantly, who are you?”, I replied. The voice boomed,“So many questions, yet I can only answer so many. Very well, Easton. To answer your first question, I am telepathic, so if I so choose to, I can read your thoughts at will. As for my knowledge of your name, I wanted to make sure my player is well suited for his journey. Now to answer your third question, I am-”. “Wait, “player”. What are you talking about? What are you and what do you want?”, I interrupted, a trace of anger in my voice.
I didn’t realize,but I quite possibly a big mistake. Everything was silent for few seconds, and then a bright flash of white blinded me for several seconds. After the light died down so at I could see, I saw, surrounded by a pale yellow streaks of light, a stark white wolf with golden yellow eyes, 20 feet in front of me. He massive. He was probably around 25 feet tall and as wide as my dad’s Lambo. Holy crap, it’s like i’m talking to Fido on steroids.
He gazed down at me and, with a more serious tone, roared, “I AM THE CATALYST, HUMAN, AND HOLD YOUR TONGUE NEXT TIME, LEST IT BE THE DEATH OF YOU!” Wow, now I totally feel like an idiot. Nice job, Easton, you just pissed off a mysterious spirit thing that could turn you into his new lampshade. What else could I possibly mess up?
He stared at me for a few more seconds, then spoke, in a softer voice, “I came here to make you a deal, human. I will make you an offer you can’t possibly refuse. If you agree to my terms, I will send you to Equestria in any form of your choosing.” Immediately, my heart stopped. Actually going to Equestria? In any body of y choosing. Hmm, I weighed my options. Stay on Earth with my abusive father and idiot brother, or go to Equestria and chill with Mane six? My decision wasn’t very hard. Honestly, I made much harder decisions on how to prank my brother on April Fools’ Day . However, I still had one question for him. “What are your terms?”, I asked. Catalyst looked at me curiously. “You do not wish to have more time to think about htis decision? Won’t anyone miss you?”, he questioned. “Not really. My dad was abusive, my brother bullied me and my mom ignores how I’m treated. I’m sick of my world. Going to Equestria is probably the best thing that could happen to me.”, I replied. Catalyst, after several seconds of staring, nodded his head in understanding and spoke up, “Very well, human. All I require you to do is fufill your dreams in Equestria. Do as you wish. However, you will be a catalyst for change, no matter what you choose to do. Whether for good or bad, it is up to you. I will also contact you periodically in order to check up on you. Now, what body do you wish to inhabit?” I thought about what kind of body to have. ‘Should I be a griffin? Naw, I don’t want to be chicken strips. What about a pony? No, too mainstream. What about…

‘Ooooooo, just got an idea! Cue the lightbulb over my head!’, I exclaimed in my head.

“Where the hell is the-SONOVA…owwww!!”, I painfully exclaimed. My lightbulb dropped painfully onto my head. “Pinkie Pie, I needed floating lightbulbs, not regular ones!!!”, I exclaimed.
I looked up to see a familiar pink pony with a poofy mane, baby blue eyes and a cutie mark of 3 party balloons. Her body was halfway inside a portal. In her hooves was a box full of lightbulbs. She had an apologetic smile on her face.
“Whoopsies! Sorry!”, Pinkie Pie apologized, rubbing the back of her head. “Well, gotta’ go! Bye!”, she hastily replied. She quickly jumped back down into the portal which closed behind her.
As I turned back to face the wolf, I only had one thought that came to mind. In the words of a famous news caster, ‘Well, that escalated quickly.’ Catalyst’s head was turned to the side, almost like my chest just grew an extra arm. “For the first time in millennia, I am truly at a loss for words.”, he said, confusion in his voice.
“Well, I’ll give you a word of advice: Never question Pinkie Pie logic. Just don’t. Otherwise you’ll go mad.”, I replied nonchalantly. He just nodded his head slowly in affirmation.
“Now, where was I? Oh yeah, I made my choice on what body I want. I want to become this.”, I firmly stated. “I’ll send you a mental image.”, I continued. I closed my eyes and sent him my picture of my future body. I opened my eyes and saw that Catalyst eyes were wide open, like he’d just seen a ghost. He turned looked into my eyes, and in a serious tone, asked, “Child, are you sure you wish to have this form? I do not like the idea of giving such a young one this type of power.” I just nodded my head.
He looked at me and then sighed. “Very well, Easton. Close your eyes, and under no circumstances are you to open them, at all. Understood?”, he questioned. I nodded and told him, “I’m ready.” His eyes then started glowing brighter until I finally had to close them or risk going blind. I started hearing a loud whine, almost like a jet engine was right in my face, continue getting louder and louder. After several seconds, I thought I’d go deaf. Suddenly, I felt a sucking sensation on my body, and before I could react, I felt a crushing pressure all over my body, like I was being sandwiched in between 2-ton mattresses. After what felt like hours, I finally blacked out, although not before I saw a Pinkie Pie somehow doing ‘Gangnam Style’. Like I said, don’t question Pinkie Pie Logic. At all.
