The book sat in front of her. It was black. It had five gold letters imprinted upon it. These letters read "Diary". A small silver lock, untouched, prevented the pages from being ripped open by any eye. The charm on the lock, like all diaries, prevented it from being opened by basic unicorn magic. It required a key, which was nowhere to be found. However, as a lavender hoof brushed off a hair, red, obviously belonging to Dash, onto the floor, her wings ached.
In fact, her whole body ached. She needed another bottle of alcohol. It numbed the pain temporarily. The aches were physical and emotional. She was exhausted, her heart ached with sadness. The Princess could collapse with heartbreak and sadness, all at the same time. She wouldn't give in. The mare had to find her Dashie. And with that, the alicorn sent out a beam of magic, which spiraled around the lock and popped off.
Dear Diary,
Today, well, yesterday, I met this amazing mare and made 5 new best friends, but one stood out among them all. I don't know, I'd die if she ever read this, but after a day of hanging out with her, I knew she was the one. We are complete opposites. She loves reading, I hate it. She's humble, I'm always wanting to brag. There was just something there, something between us. I could tell, without being full of myself, that we were both destined for great things. I don't know whether it's a schoolfilly crush or not, but I hope it can turn into something real.

The alicorn let out a choking sob. Even in the beginning, Rainbow loved her, smitten when she first laid eyes. Feeling her purple eyes well up with tears, for the first time in eight months, she let them flow freely. No one was here to tell her to be a Princess. She obviously wasn't healthy enough to. Celestia had given her time off until Dash was found, but Celestia wouldn't allow a search. Her pupil had confided in her, and with those reasons, Celestia had thought that Dash might not want to be found.
All my fault. Fault. All. Mine. She thought. Her thoughts always were jumbled up when dealing with these intense moods of heartbreak. She wasn't craving the rush of alcohol anymore. She needed it. Teleporting a bottle of vodka from the Golden Oaks Library's plentiful surprise, the mare chugged it down, relishing the burning taste that she deserved. Rainbow Dash might be dead because of her.
The mare couldn't take it anymore. Slumping into a ball, she sipped on what was left of the vodka until she fell asleep in a drunken state.
Twilight Sparkle awoke to two things. A splitting headache and ponies screaming for her to get up.
"TWILIGHT, FOR THE LAST TIME, GET THE FUCK UP!" A voice screamed, which Twilight couldn't identify through her drunken state. Eyes slowly peeling open, Twilight groggily turned to look at the three ponies in front of her. Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack all sat, looking down. After sitting up, Twilight Sparkle was oblivious to the few minutes of awkward silence, until Applejack cleared her throat.
"Alright, sugarcube, Ah know things have been hard on ya lately, with Dash gone an' all, but we need ya, Twi. Equestria needs ya. We can't just have a Princess being a stumbling alcoholic. Maybe if ya told us what happened, we could help ya fi-"
"Is that what this is about?" Twilight said angrily, words slurred. "You just want to know what happened so you all can look down at me in shame!"
Fluttershy began to back away, while Rarity and Applejack looked done.
"Twilight, you have other friends, you know. You don't need to cry over one long-gone best friend, when you have 4 other best friends that want to help you." Rarity snapped, bitterly.
"Rainbow Dash wasn't my best friend, she was my marefriend!" Twilight Sparkle yelled, before regretting the words. The headache began to ebb off, one of the perks of being immortal.
Fluttershy let out a sob, upset by everyone getting angry and the whole situation.
"I think we should go."
"If you come again, bring more beer." Twilight snapped as they filed out.
Silence left her at peace. Twilight could simply cry as she read through Dash's diary. Pictures, happy times, and other things covered the diary, reminding Twilight of better times, until she came upon the page she was reading for.
Dear Diary,
This is it. This is the day I'm going to ask her.

If this goes wrong, if this relationship breaks, I'm going back to Cloudsdale.
Oh, and she said YES! Can you believe it!?!? My life is officially twenty percent better.

As Twilight Sparkle's hangover passed, she managed a weak smile. It was time to find her Rainbow Dash.
Twilight Sparkle left Ponyville without a trace, like Dash. She sped, as fast as she could, to Cloudsdale, feeling free of all burdens along the way. There was no way Rainbow could say no to her, right? Twilight had broken up with Rainbow, a decision she regretted for these past 366 days. The day before their anniversary was when Twilight broke the connection, a heavy reminder that today, of all days, was their anniversary.
Landing on the massive cloud that made Cloudsdale, Twilight Sparkle's heart filled with dread as she looked at the skyscrapers. Anyone could just come out and stab her, right here and now. Cloudsdale wasn't the safest place in Equestria. Plus, Dash could be anywhere. Shielding her face as someone took a picture, the pony walked on. She should have brushed her mane or preened her wings. A wave of exhaustion overcame her. A wave of craving something bad followed. She needed a beer.
Entering a nearby bar, she walked over to the bartender, sitting down in a seat, before ordering a drink. Ignoring a wolf whistle that someone let out, Twilight looked at the table, trying not to cry in embarrassment. Hoofsteps approached her as two stallions sat on either side of her, grinning maliciously.
"Ey Princess. That's a nice body you got there." One said, in a voice that Twilight Sparkle could only describe as nasty.
"We could... do things to it." The other one said, clearly not used to hitting on girls.
"Leave me alone." Twilight grumbled as the bartender slid her the drink she ordered.
"That's strong for a girl like you."
"Leave me alone." Twilight said, louder, raising the glass to her lips. Feeling a hoof on her thy, Twilight let out a short scream in surprise. She would fuck up these bastards so b-
"She asked you to leave her alone. Don't you boys know when to take a hint?" A voice came from behind her.
No. It couldn't be. Staring at her drink, Twilight refused to turn around, but let out a bolt of magic, hitting the hoof on her thy, instantly giving it a burn, and removing it of fur.
"Well, if she isn't willing, we could just rape her. She seems pretty defenseless if the worst she could do was a burn."
It was Rainbow Dash, Twilight knew that as the rainbow streak flew past her, and a cyan body pinned two men to the ground, punching one repeatedly. Twilight's mind was blurred, and Twilight just started crying. Not of sadness, not of terror, but of joy. Stepping down from her seat, Rainbow Dash turned around after she was done with the two idiots.
The two mares stared at each other, before Twilight ran up, and wrapped her hooves around Rainbow Dash's neck in a hug.
"Never leave me again." Twilight whispered in Rainbow's ear between sobs, not letting go, only clutching tighter.
"Twilight." Rainbow Dash could only manage that one word, nuzzling Twilight Sparkle. The breakup hadn't broken them, it made them closer, despite the broken feelings they had felt.
"Marry me, Rainbow Dash. Marry me." Twilight said, finally. Breaking away from the hug, Rainbow Dash stepped back. It was time for rejection, the rejection Twilight deserved. But instead, she got a kiss.
"Does that answer your question?"
