Whispering Sounds had always come to Ponyville since she was a young filly, always accompanied by her family and her several other brothers and sisters, there was never a moment of peace and quiet in her centeral home located in Cloudsdale. A world that lives right above the small urban population of Ponyville was quiet and boring, often times the mare would have nothing to do but sit upon her cloud bed and read old battered copies of Wonderbolt Weekly and Pony Magazine, each one filled with gossip that was not true or filled with beautiful mares that would flex their agile bodies, showing off the camera as they waded in a small shallow pool in the heat of the summer, the sun glistening off their coats. Of course, when Whisper's parents found out about the magazines they promptly snatched them away from their daughter and threw them off the balcony of their cloud home, sending them down to the earth below.
A pegasus family that was strict and tight-knit in Cloudsdale was not uncommon in the secluded neighborhood that Whisper had grown up in, but if any of the ponies that she met ever accompanied her home, they would often stare among the family with confused expressions as they gathered around a large cloud dinner table to say grace to Celestia, often times singing out prayers and hymns to the Princess of the Sun. Whisper recalled her own mother, a rather quiet mare with a strict attitude who had come from a town outside of Fillydelphia, she had been short in height throughout much of her life and was still shrinking as her body grew more brittle. Her eyes were a dark blue and had been gentically passed down to her three favorite daughters, Whisper being among them. Her coat was a light gray, and her mane was orginally a bizzare shade of orange, but was often died to a more calm pink and white.
Her father was a more soft spoken colt that perfered to only speak his mind on the weather teams around Ponyville or about how his prized children were successfully becoming some of the best flier in the academys that attended. Out of ten children, Whisper was the second to least favorite of her siblings in her father's eyes. Always having been a rounder pegasus with a quiet voice and wise attitude, she was much more opposite then her slender and agile brothers and sisters that were rash and brutal, often times soaring around the house and knocking over knick-knacks that their mother had set out for viewing purposes only. Instead of wanting to attend an academy and grow her flying abilities even further, Whisper had chosen to perch down in Ponyville, where she had always admired the different connections of the three species of ponies that would live among each other in harmony, none more important than the other.
So as soon as she was sixteen years of age and more than ready to live a life of peacefulness in her own home and work at her own pace away from her overbaring family, she flew down from her cloud home for the first time in several years, and perched herself upon the highest cloud she could find above Ponyville, her blue eyes opening in wonder at the sights of several colorful buildings and joyful faces of different ponies. Each one with a unique cutie mark, some carrying flowers and working on plants, others tending to younger foals, and sometimes ones that were covering in jelly, sunbathing in the park. The sight was relaxing, and Whisper had stretched her wings, allowing the sun to bathe on them. However, she quickly folded them once more to her sides as she realized she was rather lost. Ponyville had expanded in the several years since she'd been away, and she was going to need a place to stay to begin a new life here.
Glancing around the clouds, she was hopefully watching for some pegasus that might be floating by, but she found the clouds vacant and silent. Letting out a sigh, she balanced out the saddlebags on her flanks, and lifted herself into the air with a large amount of effort, swiftly soaring down to the earth below to perch herself in the middle of a crowded intersection within Ponyville. Almost instantly upon her arrival, she had been pinned to the ground and was struggling against a rather strong earth pony. The pegasus trembled and her wings closed to her sides as she raised her hooves to her head, attempting to block any blows that may have been delivered. When none came, she slowly opened one eye, and was met by a brilliant blue in return.
A bright pink earth pony had pinned her down and was beaming at her with a friendly smile, and nopony else seemed to be noticing that anything was wrong. Whisper cleared her throat and opened her mouth to speak, but realized that the wind had been knocked out of her and she was breathing heavily. The pink pony crawled off of her, and offered her a hoof with an apologetic smile, her head tilted to the side. An usual bounce and curl was in this mares mane, and her voice was rather high, but she was quite friendly and a few ponies stopped to wave at her, giving a sympathetic look to the new comer that the mare had pinned down.
"Hi there, my name is Pinkie Pie! I saw you up there way on the cloud and when I saw you perch, I knew you would automatically be one of my bestest friends! Oh, that reminds me, welcome to Ponyville! It's the bestest and more cheery-fullest place in all of Equestria!" Pinkie Pie never seemed to run out of breath, and had stood up on her back legs, waving her forelegs around to indicate the greatness of the small city that Whisper had just entered. The pegasus was still attempting to find the words to speak, but her mouth was still dry. At last, a small bit of saliva wet her tongue, and she weakly spoke.
"U-uhm, t-thank you." Whispering Sounds was just about to raise her head from glancing down at the ground, but what caught her next was completely by surpise. A beautiful gray mare had appeared next to Pinkie Pie, wrapping her hoof around the mare and pulling her, her voice was low and steady as she spoke to her. Whisper hardly made out the words, as her eyes were completely fixed on this beautiful mare. Her eyes were a calm and soothing green, completely clashing with her abnormal black and white mane, a wild mane at that, that was hid underneath a rather worn down cowgirl hat that was even grayer that her coat. A necklace on a black cord hung around her neck, the only symbol on it was an upside down isosceles triangle with the inside completely colored in rainbow.
"Listen here, Pinkie Pie. I know that you want to greet everpony that walks through this town when they first arrive, but you need to leave this one to me. I was expectin' here all the way for a week! Understand? Now run along!" The gray mare had scooted Pinkie Pie along until she was around the corner, and gracefully trotted back within a matter of seconds, coming to a dead stop in front of Whisper with an outstretched hoof and a rather sly smile,"Greetins', pegasus. The name is Rocky Boulder, yes, Boulder. I'm a geologist here in Ponyville workin' for a company back in Manehattan. What brings ya around here?" Rocky Boulder moved so that Whisper could see her cutie mark, a rock and a pickaxe crossed.
Whisper was still in awe of this mare in front of her, and slowly she reached her hoof out to press against the other mares in a warm welcome, the entire distance feeling almost like a life time. At last, when their hooves met, Whisper seemed to feel a spark of ignitied electricity, and quickly bounced into the air, hovering there while she stared at her hoof in amazement. When she perched herself to the ground once more, she claimed to have seen a mouse."My name is Whispering Sounds, most people refer to me as Whisper, however. I'm new to Ponyville, because I am here to start a new life. I was actually here searching for a place to live."
Rocky Boulder's eyes opened in surprise for a moment, and then a small smirk aligned her lips. She scuffed her hoof into the ground, making a small trail of it while she stepped closer to the pegasus."Well, ya know Ms.Sounds, I always have enough room for you in my house, that is, if you would like to stay there. I'm not home a lot at night, often times I'm out with my friends and co-workers talkin' about work and drinkin'. Say, you know you're quite cute, right?" Rocky continued to lean forward, but at the last moment, pulled away and cleared her throat.
"I would love to, Ms.Boulder. I am a rather quaint house guest, after all." Whisper turned to the side to reveal her own cutie mark now, a piece of parchment with a quil and an ink jar next to it. Rocky inclined her head forward and almost snorted with laughter, but held back out of respect for the ponies destiny. Writing was the least important thing in the world to her, and seeing how anypony could sit down for days one and write one lame word after the next awed her.
