     “Okay time for bed”

      “Awww” Red sighed.

“Come on little ponies need their sleep.”

      “Okay” He groaned.

“…Mommy? Can I sleep upstairs with you…The dark scares me.”

“Of course, come on” Red smiled as he raced upstairs. He looked around the room than raced over to the window.

“Hey mommy…what are those?” He asked Flutter shy walked over to join him at the window to see what he was asking about.

      “Oh, those are stars.”

“Wow…can I go outside and look at them?”

“Maybe tomorrow. That way we can all go look at them.”

“Okay” Red said happily. Flutter shy took a few of the blankets and folded them up to make a bed for Red. Red jumped onto the pile of blankets than Flutter shy put one on him. When he was comfortable Flutter shy got into her bed.

      “Good night Red.”

“Good night mommy” and when Red started dozing off, he started to dream. He and Flutter shy were out in a field. He was hopping and running around chasing after the butterflies, and flutter shy was lying in the grass. It seemed like they were having fun, but every second Red was running around Flutter shy’s expression started to change. It went from joy filled to a blank expressionless boredom, than after her emotion had completely changed she got up and started to walk away.

“Mommy?” Red said quietly as he noticed her walking away.

      “Mommy wait.” He shouted.

“Mommy wait!” He kept running but no matter how fast he ran he couldn’t get any closer. Than eventually as Flutter shy kept walking she just completely disappeared.

“Mommy!” Red yelled one last time before he woke up. He was panting heavily, and scared. He looked around thinking he was somewhere ells, he realized he wasn’t in a field and it wasn’t day. He was still in Flutter shy’s cottage and it was the dead of night.

“Red?” Flutter shy said quietly as she started to wake up.

“What’s wrong?” Red looked away and tried not to cry.

      “Red?-“

      “Nothing…I’m fine.” He interrupted.

“Red…I can tell some things wrong.”

      “No…it’s okay…I’m fine.”

      “Come on…you can tell me…”

      “…I had a nightmare…You left me.”

“Red…It’s okay.” Red turned his head slightly to look at her.

      “I’d never leave you.”

      ”…Really?”

“Really, your my son I could never leave you.” Red turned around and smiled at her as tears continued to roll down his cheeks.

“Do you want to sleep with me?” She asked softly. Red nodded grabbed the blanket he was sleeping under and jumped onto the bed with Flutter shy. He took his blanket and ruled up into a ball under it and lied down on the top sheet on Flutter shy’s bed. As she held him close to her the two started dozing off into a deep sleep, and as Red slept his dreams started to change he was in a field with Flutter shy, now he was in some sort of castle. The walls looked like they were made out of black stained glass. He looked around and to him some how the place seems familier.

“who are you?” some pony behind him asked. He jumped as he turned around to see who it was. He was supprised. It looked like him. Except, it’s coat was complletly black and it’s mane and tale were a bright red, it had a horn, and it’s eyes lookedd like red dots on black paper.

“…why do you look like me?” It asked.

“I…I don’t look any thing like you…” Red told it as he backed away.

“Why do you sound like me?”

      “I…i…uh.” Red stuttered.

      “Why are you me?”

      “What…?”

“Daddy why does that pony look like me?”

      “…Daddy…”Red whispered to himself.

“Becouse he is you.” A dark voice said out of no where. All of the sudden a large dark stallion walked out of the shadows behind the other Red.

      “You…I…I remember you…”

“How could yoou not, you’re my son-“ The stallion was cut off as Red woke up gasping for air. He looked around Flutter shy was out of her bed, the sun was shining threw the window and some how every thing seemed colder.

“Red!” Flutter shy called from down stairs.

“Time to wake up!” She continued thinking Red was still asleep. He took one last breath of air and raced down stairs.

“Good morning Red, did you sleep well?”

      “Uhh…yeah…great actually…” He said nervously.

“Okay, well you better start getting ready to leave.”

      “Why are we going somewhere?”

“Sort of, you have to go to school.”

“…School…?” Red replied as his ears dropped.

“Mhmm.” Flutter shy answered as she nodded her head.

“Do I have to go…Can’t I stay here with you…? Please!” Red begged.

“It’s okay it won’t last all day. You’ll just have to go for a few hours than you can leave.”

“…Okay…” Red ended, and about an hour later when Red and Flutter shy got to the school house he started remembering the two ponies that made fun of him. He attempted to back up and make a run for it back to the cottage but Flutter shy stopped him.

“Come on don’t be shy. You’ll be fine.” She told him. Red had no choice, she was the only one he could trust. So he took a deep breath, exhaled and walked to the building. When he got to the front door he turned around to see Flutter shy one more time before she left. She stood where she was and smiled and waved to him. Red smiled back and walked inside.

“Red welcome back!” Ms. Cheerlie shouted.

“Some of us were worried about you. We thought something bad happened to you.” She continued. While some of the other ponies smiled as they looked at him, four of them seemed emotionless while another two looked at him angrily.

“So Red why don’t you go ahead and take a seat o we can begin.”

“Okay.” Red replied happily. He walked over to his original seat, placed his saddle bags at the side of his desk than sat in the chair.

“Okay now before we start. Diamond tiara, Silver spoon would you two like to say something to Red. The two groaned as they got up and walked to the front of the class room.

“Red were sorry that we made fun of you.” Diamond tiara said in a somewhat irritated tone. Red smiled and nodded his head and the two went back to their seats.

“All right now we can begin today’s lesson.” Ms. Cheerlie announced, and as she spoke Red started to zone out he could hear and understand everything she was saying but he was in his own little world. If she mentioned something about Ponyvile’s heritage he could actually see it in his mind. Several hours later the bell rung and she dismissed every pony to recess. As Red got out of his seat he took his saddle bags and put them on his back.

“Red could I talk to you for a moment.”  Ms. Cheerlie asked.

      “Yes Ms. Cheerlie?”

“I just wanted to know how you’re doing.”

      “Fine Ms. Cheerlie” He answered.

“Okay just wondering. There have been rumors about a young filly passing out in the middle of town.”

“Oh…that…sorry I didn’t mean to scare any pony.”

“Don’t worry it’s alright. Have fun at recess.” She ended happily. Red smiled and ran out the door.

“Hi!” Some pony called out with excitement. Red got caught off guard and jumped backwards.

“So your Red?” the filly asked.

      “Uh…yah…”

“Howdy! My names Apple bloom, and these are my friends Scootaloo and Sweetie belle.”

      “Uh…Hi” He said nervously.

“You don’t like to talk do you?” Scootaloo asked.

“What…oh uh no sorry I’m just a little nervous. Not a lot of ponies are nice to me.”

      “Really?” Apple bloom interrupted.

“Yeah…My first day here Diamond tiara and Silver spoon kind of-“

“Taunted you for not having a cutie mark?” She interrupted again.

      “How’d you know?”

“They do the same to us.”

“Well it’s not our fault none of you have your cutie marks.” Diamond tiara added.

“Can’t you two ever just be nice for once?” Apple bloom yelled at  them.

“Why? It’s more fun to make fun of you.”

“It’s not like your better than us.” Scootaloo interrupted.

“But I am better than you.  I’m richer, I’m cuter I’m-“

“Shut up.” Red interrupted. Diamond Tiara turned around, Red was standing there with an irritated expression, while the others trying to hold in there laughter.

“What did you just say?” Diamond asked angrily.

“Didn’t you hear me. I’ll be honest, I’m amazed that no pony said that to you yet.”

“How dare you! You have no right to say that to me!”

“And you have no right to treat my friends like that!”

“I’m going to tell Ms. Cheerlie on you!”

“And what are you going to tell her!? That I told you to shut up because you were being mean to me and my friends!?” Diamond Tiara growled at him than started running into the school house yelling for Ms. Cheerlie.

      “Ms. Cheerlie! Ms. Cheerlie!”

      “What is it Diamond Tiara?”

“Red told me to shut up!”

      “He did?”

“It’s not my fault she wouldn’t be nice to me or me friends!”

“See he even admitted he did!”

“And I’m about to say it again!”

      “Is that a threat!?”

      “It might as well be-!”

“Okay both of you enough! I don’t want to hear  another word from either of you!”

      “But-“

“Not another word Tiara! No first of all Red that was not a nice thing to say.”

      “But she-…I know…”

“And Tiara I thought I told you to be nice to Red.”

      “But…”

“As your punishment you get to stay after class while I talk to your parents.”

      “What-!”

“And Red I want you to apologize to Diamond Tiara.”

      “Sorry-“

“Like you mean it.” Red sighed and faced Diamond Tiara.

“I’m sorry I told you to shut up. It was a mean thing to say and I should never had said it.” She turned away and lifted her head high.

“Now both of you can go back to recess, but I don’t want to hear anything else from, or about you two. Understand?”

“Yes Ms. Cheerlie” The two said at the same time.
