Prolog
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was the dead of night. The moon was at the top of the dark sky and shinning bright along with the stars. Luna was in her room filling out papers. The fire roared in the fire place and shot out sparks every now and then. The cold wind blew outside, and it would sometimes blow in threw the open window. But the fire kept her warm.
“…Luna..” a voice whispered.
“What?” Luna put down her quill and started looking around her room. “Who is there? Show yourself.”
“…Luna…” the voice continued.
“We demand to know who you are!” Luna started yelling.
“…Luna” The voice grew louder. Luna jumped and turned around and saw a strange mare standing behind her. She giggled.
“Good evening.” She chuckled. Than in an instant Luna’s vision turned black. She started struggling, but she couldn’t move her legs were bound.
“Who are you!?” She demanded.
“How could you not remember me? …You know what, it has been at least a thousand years since we last met. Never mind, I guess you shouldn’t remember me.” The mare started laughing, she than took the blind fold off that she put on Luna. She saw her. A purple mare, with a black messy mane with purple points, and her tail looked the same, and as she looked down at her hooves her purple color started fading into black.
“It’s been a while hasn’t it?”
“We demand-“
“My name is Agony.”
“…Who?”
“Of course you don’t remember, again, thousand years.”
“Why can we not move?”
“Old binding spell I used. Don’t worry, it’ll ware off, eventually.”
“Where are we?”
“Sweet Celestia you’re full of questions!” The mare whined. “You’re in the Ever-Free. Right before the bridge that leads to the old castle.” Luna looked behind the mare and saw the old stone ruins.
“Why did you bring-“
“Okay, you know what. I’ll let you figure that one out, as for me. I need to stay on schedule, come on.” She started dragging Luna behind her as she crossed the bridge.
“Why are we, ow!” She cried out as she slid across the rugged wood. “Why are we going into the old castle?”
“No offense your majesty. But, Do you ever shut up?”
“How dare you speak to us like that. We-“
“Are a princess, you think I don’t know that? You’re the famous princes of the night, your also the famous Nightmare Moon.”
“…What are you saying?”
“Nightmare Moon a thousand years ago you attempted to turn day into night, for all eternity, and because of that, I’ve admired you, I thought of you as a hero.” She paused as she released her magic hold of Luna. “And since then, I wanted to be like you. I wanted to be some pony that every pony ells would fear, and now, I’m finally going to make that happen. I’ve been trapped in time for the last thousand years, waiting for you to rescue me, to save me from that retched black abyss, I was hoping that we could be together, side by side, just like you promised.”
“I promised no such thing!” Luna argued.
“Yes you did!” Agony argued back. “You said that I would be your apprentice, and that you would teach me how to be like you! But you forgot about me! When you made your grand return you forgot about me! But now that I’m back, I’ll finally get my revenge on the world. I’ll change you Luna, I’ll help you.”
“What do you mean “Help me”
“I’ll will help you reawaken Nightmare Moon.”
“What?!”
“Look at the floor beneath you Luna. That is an arcane circle, the most advanced type of magic, and if I’m correct, the particular circle should turn you back.”
“And if it doesn’t?’
“I don’t know, this is the first time I tried it. Ready?”
“No!”
“To bad.” Agony laughed. She shot part of the ceiling and a large part of the stone fell down and landed in an opened space between two line and caused the circle to start glowing. It turned from white, to red, and finally to a blackish color. Luna started screaming in pain as a black mist started rising out from her. The black mist flew from her to the alter behind Agony.
“No, No! This shouldn’t be happening!” Agony yelled. She raced up to the alter and attempted to trap the mist in a magic bubble. But it managed to break free and it attack Agony and sent her flying. She landed at the edge of the circle. She got up and saw it trying to attack her again, but before it got close Agony whipped away part of the circle and the glow went away along with the mist.
“Apparently, that’s what happens if you get the circle wrong-“
“You foolish foal! Do you know what you’ve just done! You almost reawakened that horrid beast!’
“You say it like it’s a bad thing.” Agony smiled and started walking down the stairs to the lower level.
“I’ll be right back, I need to get my spell book.’
“What about us?!”
“You, uh, hmm. You can just, stay here and, I don’t know talk yourself? I don’t know, do what you want, just stay here.” Luna growled at her as she continued walking and when she was out of sight she started yelling and demanding her to come back and release her. Agony ignored her and kept walking.
