Celestia looked out her window. She could make out ponyville in the distance. She remembers when she first sent Twilight there. She was just learning to harvest her magical ability, but she was very far away from being a math to Her Majesty. That was several years ago though. Twilight is now a princess, almost doubling her magic capacity. Normally Celestia would be happy about such event, another capable heir in case things went wrong. But after a top secret meeting with her most trustworthy advisers, she concluded that Twilight would soon become more powerful then the Celestia herself. Although Twilight doesn't know now, if she ever figured it out, she would be more than capable of overthrowing her. Luna would be reluctant to defend Celestia, after all, sending her to the moon doesn't create the best of bonds.
Celestia knew that Twilight wasn't the power hungry type. But if she ever figured out about the darker side if her Majesty, then maybe she would we be compelled to fight her former master. The gryphon genocide for example, that was held very secret, but there was a chance she could still figure out.
Celestia grew increasingly paranoid. She glanced out the window at a cliff overlooking Ponyville. If she could just level the town and bring down Twilight with it...then this problem would be solved. But how would she do it? Who or what should she blame? What if she survived? What about her friends...
Celestia stomped her foot on the marble floor, cracking it. She opened her mouth and yelled, finally releasing her storm of thoughts. The glass window broke from the rage of her voice. She lowered it to a whisper. "Twilight...and her friends...must be eliminated."
"Spike! Spike!" Twilight looked across her library for the familiar purple scaled dragon.
"C'mon Twilight! It's 3 AM!"
"That doesn't matter Spike, sleep is for the weak. Anyway, where did you put my book "Animals and Magic"?
Spike pointed at a book shelf. "It's on that shelf. And Twilight, if sleep is for the weak, then I think you're the most powerful pony in Equestria."
"Now now spike, we all know Princess Celestia is much more powerful than me. Let's not be ridiculous."
"I don't know Twilight, you saved her like, a bajilion times..."
"Well...oh there it is!" A purple aurora formed around a book as she pulled it out of its shelf and began to flip through.
"You know what Twilight, you have fun. I am going to sl-" Spike let out a giant yawn and simply fell asleep on the edge of the stairs.
Meanwhile back at Celestia's castle, her paranoia was only rising.
"If I just...maybe visit her and act normal, and then a quick burst of magic through her heart...no"
She quickly remembered that twilight is connected to each of the elements , if twilight was killed then her friends would know. But without twilight would they be able to use the elements against her? She didn't know... She had to be safe and kill them all at once. But she couldn't level the entire town. It would be too suspicious.
Then a large explosion went off in her scheming head.
"Aha! It's hearths warming eve!"
Twilight and her friends would be bound to be together celebrating the occasion. All she would have to do was make a surprise entrance, catch them while they were shocked, then a large burst of magic would end their prancy little lives. Her royal guards would prevent any witnesses from spreading word, she would have the entire town under watch. If the commoner rabble got wind of the princess killing her own subjects, well, she would have a revolt on her hands.
"Wait...what the hell are hands?"
Hooves, I mean hooves.
"Your majesty, are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yes, she and her friends are too much of a threat. You are my head spymaster and I believe you can help me achieve this"
A gilded figure stomped himself into the shrouded room.
"Your majesty" the figure Bowes, his armor reveals that he is the captain of the royal guard.
"Shining...your loyalty to me is unwavering correct?"
"Yes your majesty"
"Even if I told you to kill your own mother you would do it, correct?"
"Yes, your wish is my command"
"Good, ponies that lack loyalty don't last long here..."
Celestia thought in her head, it would make quite a horror story to see Twilight's own brother kill her. Perhaps she should write it down and publish it as a story.
She returned her attention to the meeting.
"Right. We need to kill Twilight Sparkle. And her friends of course. They are all a threat to the crown."
Shining, as expected, almost fainted.
"What!? Killing my own sister! Why?"
"Listen. I know much more about her than you do. In her friendship letters she has said nothing but hate about you. She just wants to make it seem she still loves you, so you don't feel to bad and end up hanging on a noose in your own bedroom."
"But..but.. That can't be true, she would never. This is outrageous!"
"Shining, I am the ruler an Goddess of this land. I know more things then you could bear to imagine. Besides, your loyalty is unwavering...correct?"
"Y-yesss your majesty." He bowed for what seemed like an eternity. He had no choice but to believe his Queen.
"Good. Glad we have everything cleared up. Let's get down to business shall we?"
