Sweet Sonata

Fluttershy had just finished feeding the animals and had gone inside for some morning tea, she had nowhere to be that day, unless another ancient evil decided to attack Equestria. She laid back on her couch and thought about recent events, they had just gotten back from the royal wedding. That had been quite the surprise, she was really upset that she hadn't believed Twilight. Luckily Twilight had been quick to forgive the other Elements of Harmony. Suddenly there was a knocking on her cottage's door.

"I wasn't expecting any visitors, I wonder who that could be?" she thought to herself, hoping that it wasn't another call for her element to be needed so she could go back to relaxing later. When she opened her door she could no believe her eyes, in front of her was a young filly, no more than five, she had a brown coat with white 'socks' on her legs, her mane was pink and black with two deer antlers poking out, both her mane and tail were braided she also had the wings of a dragon.

"My, my name is Sonata, I don't know where my father is and your cottage seemed so nice, can I please stay until I can find my father? I can even find a way to pay rent if you need me to," said Sonata shyly. Fluttershy looked at the filly, she seemed so nervous and scared.

"My name is Fluttershy," she started, "and of course you can stay! There is no way I could turn down anything that needs my help would you like to come inside?" Sonata the flashed a huge smile.

"Thank you so much, Fluttershy was your name? You're so kind. You have a lot of animals, can I pet one? It must be hard taking care of all them, is that your special talent?" said Sonata, quickly but clearly, Fluttershy was pleasantly surprised with the filly's questions, she decided to answer them, hoping to see that smile of hers again.

"Yes you got my name right. The animals seem to like you," She said, she had noticed that the animals had started approaching the new guest, they usually did this to any new visitor to the cottage. "If you promise to be gentle you can pet some of them when they approach you."

"Thank you so much, can you teach me about them? I love to learn," Sonata reached out her hoof and gently patted a bunny that was close to her, the bunny, enjoying this, tapped it's foot on the ground quickly, much to Sonata's amusement.

"You like to learn? I have a friend who knows a bunch of stuff on everything , I was planning on visiting her today, would you like to come with me?" asked Fluttershy, she didn't get a verbal reply, but she was pretty sure the hopping up and down with a smile on her face was a yes.

A few hours and a delicious breakfast later the duo trotted across Ponyville, on the way they met Pinkie Pie so they had a 'Welcome to Ponyville Sonata' party to attend later that day. They also met Rainbow Dash and Rarity, Rainbow Dash challenged her to a race later, just to see how fast some new flying completion in town was. Rarity just politely said hello, not sure what to think of Ponyville's newest resident. Finally they reached the library.

As the entered, Sonata was awestruck, "Wow, I have never seen so many books before!"

"Hello little one, I'm Twilight Sparkle, glad to see a young member of our society showing an interest in books, your name is Sonata, if I am correct, I received an invitation to your welcoming party, I hope Pinkie didn't scare you too much, she can go a bit over board." said Twilight, surprised at the little one's appearance, "Who are your parents?"

"I don't have a mommy, and I don't know my daddy's name or where he is but I will know him if I see him!"  said the young filly, happy Twilight appeared to like her. She levitated a book on magic down with a golden glow on her antlers, much to Fluttershy and Twilight's shock. "Can I read this book?"

After a few moments of partial shock, Twilight spoke, "I didn't know you could do magic, sure you can read the book, just don't try anything dangerous!" Fluttershy nodded her head in agreement, as this sudden revelation had surprised them both,

"Thank you so much! Magic seems like so much fun but my daddy didn't get to teach me much before something, I can't quite remember what happened but oh well!" said Sonata eager to start learning. After a few minutes, she did a spell that few unicorns twice her age could do, Twilight looked over with shock.

"Wow, even I couldn't do that at your age and magic is my special talent! Would you like to come by more often and I can teach you more?" asked Twilight, hoping she would say yes to her question so she could experience what Celestia did while teaching her.

"That sounds awesome!" answered Sonata, as she started reading a new spell, "Only if it's okay with Fluttershy though," she gave Fluttershy a pleading look.

"Oh my, of course it is okay, it would be wonderful to learn all you can, maybe we could even convince Rainbow Dash to teach you some flying tricks," said Fluttershy, excited at the concept of her and her friends helping this adorable young filly.

At the party everyone at Ponyville got to meet the new resident and she got along with everypony but Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, Rainbow Dash, after seeing Sonata's surprising speed agreed to train her, though she was not as fast as Rainbow Dash at that age, she had potential.  Unfortunately the time to go came much to soon, Fluttershy had already prepared the guest room before they left for Twilights so after some quick shopping for a toothbrush and toothpaste, they were set. The filly brushed her teeth and hoped into bed, Fluttershy came over and sung to her a lullaby, she did not get very far before you could hear the soft patterned breathing of sleep, Fluttershy looked at the sleeping Sonata and thought, "I'm happy I get to help such a kind unique filly."
