//-------------------------------------------------------// Holding all the Strings -by MrShortcake- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Descent //-------------------------------------------------------// The Descent It was as any day in Ponyville, the sun high in the sky, ponies laughing, fillies playing; but they say the time before the storm is an unusual calm, truer words have seldom been spoken. "Today is the day, I'm finally gonna ask Rarity out. The weather is beautiful, birds are chirping, and plus; I've got this tux, so nothing can go wrong right? I have a bouquet of flowers, these chocolates, everything a gentle-drake needs to ask his love to be his forever... then why does it feel like something's missing? " Spike asked himself He was snapped out of his thoughts as he bumped into the door of the Carousel Boutique, the castle of his fair maiden. Oh, uh, so I guess this is it... now or never. Spike hesitantly knocked on the door of the Boutique, patiently waiting for his love to answer. Oh thank Celestia! She isn't ho- "Hello? Is anypony there?" Rarity asked, opening the door. "Oh, hello dear, whatever brings you to my humble abode at such an early hour? And why do you have those chocolates shaped like a heart, and those... flowers... and... tux... oh dear." Rarity began to sweat, she had known this day was fast approaching, and yet she hoped it would never come. Better yet, prayed it would never come. Here goes nothing. "R-Rarity, ever since I've laid my eyes on you, I knew you were the mare of my dreams, I just wanted to be with you, to call you MY mare. Rarity, I love you, I love everything about you, you're everything I could ever want, and more. I-I  brought you these flowers, and chocolates. Roses are your favorite, right?" Spike handed her the roses, blushing heavily while doing so. He then handed her the chocolates. "Hearth's Warming Eve is tomorrow, and I have two tickets to the ball, um... care to join me?" Meanwhile Rarity was having a panic attack, scrambling for a response that wouldn't shatter the dragon's hopes and dreams; all of her thoughts bounced back to one word, no. "No. I'm sorry darling, but I can't. There is no sugar coating affairs of the heart, so I'll simply say it as it is. You're my friend, and I could never see you as anything more. I'm so sorry dear, but that's simply how it is, you're just not my type." With that she turned closing the door in the now broken dragons face. You're just not my type. Just not my type. Not my type. I'm just not her type, I never had a chance, all of this, for nothing. She never loved me, we never had a future, I guess I was an idiot for thinking that we did. A fat useless sack of scales, thinking he could have such a refined gem. BUT I GUESS I'M JUST NOT HER TYPE! Spike ran, tears pouring down his face, he didn't care so much about the worried looks he received as he darted back to the library, he didn't care about anything anymore. It was all meaningless to him, the beautiful day simply mocked his pain, as he ran into the library. Spike collapsed on the floor, the tears now flowed freely, as he sobbed into his arms. I'm just useless, nopony could see me that way, when they hear Golden Oaks Library, it's never, "Hey guys, let's see how Spike is doing?" "Did you hear he saved the Crystal Empire?" No, it was never about me. I'm just a lonely, flightless dragon maid, who helps an OCD unicorn with her chores. Rarity is a bucking Element of Harmony, generousity, no less. I'm nothing. Maybe some reading will cheer me up, or some cleaning, I could ask Twilight what she thinks, she's really smart. Or... or... Spike noticed the note resting on the table in the left corner of thelibrary, he picked it up and read: Dear Spike, I've headed out to get some groceries from the market, please dust the bookshelves while I'm gone. All of your other chores are complete, or can be done at a later time, but the bookshelves haven't been dusted all week. Please dust them, thanks Spike, I'll be back with breakfast as well. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle I suppose I should get started. At least it'll be a distraction. Spike slowly picked up his feather duster, a gift from Fluttershy so long ago, when ponies actualy cared about the "Little baby dragon" Key word is "Baby" After aquiring the duster, Spike slowly walked over to one bookshelf that appeared far filthier than the rest, dragging his feet along the way. As Spike started to dust a strangly worn down book, at least by the standards of the remainder of the library. He found that the book wouldnt budge as he tried to yank the book free so he could properly clean the shelf. He tried to remove the book once again but with more force this time, no luck. He gave it one final attempt, putting everything he could into it. Succes! At least kinda, the book stuck out at an odd angle and a series of clicks started eminating from the wall. A small door slid open, revealing a small hidden compartment with an extremely thick book inside. "What the buck?" Spike murmered quietely as he pulled the book out and examined the cover. The front cover and spine of the book were made of some odd hardened paper, and covered in odd glyphs placed in a seemingly random fashion. As Spike opened up to the first page there was a blinding white light, followed by and overwhelming feeling of nothing. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- The sun stood at it's apex, it's blinding light flooding the home of the now awake Auroric Shadow, a name he highly despised for its genericy. He rolled over in an attempt to strech away the pain that had accumulated at the base of his spine, succeding only in falling off the bed with a loud thump "Godesses damnit" That hurt like tasting the red part of a rainbow. "Ahhhhhh" Rory screamed and jumped into the air as there was a knock at the door, hovering there for a second before flying down and opening it. There was light grey unicorn with a spikey green and black mane, the shape resembling that of Derpy. His eyes were a deep shade of green, and his cutie mark was a paint brush over a painters palate. "Uh... hey, did you by any chance, I don't know... order some super fabulous cupcakes?" What had started out as a shy question, transformed to the unicorn beaming and invading Auroric's privacy. What is wrong with this guy, it's like... Auroric turned to look at his clock, turning away from the stallion at the door. The clock read 12:23 pm. Not as early as I thought... "Uh. No. I didn't order any cupcakes, but a few cupcakes... wouldn't... hurt." Auroric constantly looked over the stallion's shoulder to see if he had those 'fabulous' cupcakes. "Only if you let me in. I mean, these cupcakes don't really have any place they need to be." The mystery stallion levatated a box of cupcakes in front of him. "Name's Shortcake, and you are... " Damn, those smell great. "Mmm... cupcakes." Auroric leaned forward, nearly colliding with the box in a futile effort to take more of the aroma in. "Cupcakes? Hm. Ya don't look like a 'Cupcakes' to me..." Shortcake pondered his name for a moment more, before being snapped from his thoughts. "Auroric Shadow. Now get your flank in my house with those cupcakes." Auroric could wait no longer. "Ain't gotta tell me twice. But hey, I kinda have a chariot waiting... I was just kinda hoping to drop these off. I'm heading over to the Everfree, I gotta go pick up my bald eagle, America, he's a little sick, got that Fluttershy mare fixin him up. "Uh... you mean... the element of kindness?" Auroric Shadow now had a tinge of pink adorning his normally blue cheeks. "Nuh uh, I mean the pornstar that flies around on a satanic seal and conquered the sixth galaxy, before~ eating the heart of fluffy the devourer of souls, and banashing him to another galaxy never to be seen again." Shortcake was grinning at the now confused stallion. "Really?" Auroric was more confused than a gay 12 year old. "No, ya jackass. I'm talkin about the Fluttershy you know." Shortcake laughed as he left to get in the carriage that would take them to Ponyville. Well. Can't say I didn't see that one coming. Auroric then followed suit, a bit nervous about meeting the mare he often fantasized about. What if she has a specialsomepony, or is married? What if she's gay? GAH! This is so stupid! Shortcake had decided to leave Auroric to his thoughts, but not before he slid the box of sweet goodness over to the stallion. "I always eat when I have to think about stuff, plus, these cupcakes are from Sugarcube Corner." "Sugarcube Corner?" Was all Auroric could get out before a cupcake was jammed into his mouth. Five orgasms later, he swallowed the cupcake. "That. Was. Perfection." The chariot was already in motion, heading to Ponyville. Auroric had never been and hoped to go sight seeing while they were there, he'd have to ask Shortcake for some help though. Well. This isn't so bad, I guess, what could go wrong?
