Chapter Two: The Ritual

Xavier's vivid dream left him hot and sweaty. His bed also paid the price, for he had soaked it in perspiration and urine. This was a nightmare unlike any other that Xavier had ever dreamt. He then proceeded to take a shower to recover from his bad sleep and wash his bed in the river after.

As he dunked his mattress in the river and scrubbed it down with soap, he noticed the mail pony in the distance delivering his mail. But he seemed hesitant as he dropped off Xavier's mail, like he just saw a ghost. And in a hurry, the mail pony took off. "This needs to end soon. The quicker I can become one of the ponies, the better." said Xavier with concern. He pulled his mattress, left it to dry in the sunlight, and went to get the mail. He found a brochure that invited this year's Grand Galloping Gala in Canterlot. "The Grand Galloping Gala? I don't know, that'll never catch on." Xavier thought to himself. He didn't consider attending the Gala because he still had no knowledge of Equestria and he wasn't ready for such affairs. Even so, he kept the invitation. Xavier then went back inside his house to rest on his couch. A few hours of pondering of his new life have passed. When all was peaceful, he had heard a knock on his front door, followed by a female voice saying "Hello? Is this Xavier's house?" Xavier was uncertain of who was at his door. He then heard another voice say "We've been sent by Princess Twilight. Is this Xavier's cottage?" Xavier remembered his deal with Twilight Sparkle to transform him into a permanent pony. He did not hesitate in opening the door for the two mares who would help him with his new lifestyle. As he opened the door, he was greeted with two figures in black robes. One of them removed their hood to reveal an orange earth pony wearing a cowboy hat. "Howdy there, sugar cube, my name is Applejack." The other pony said "We have been informed by our friend Twilight of your conflict among the other pony folk. We have been sent by her royal highness to end your life." Xavier then fell into shock remembering his nightmare and felt betrayed.

This had scared and outraged Xavier, as he quickly became defensive and ran back inside. He then reached for his two handguns that he hid under his couch and shot at them immediately. The bullets he fired reached their faces, but not before being interrupted by a light blue force field.  The other pony removed her hood to present a white unicorn pony with a large swirled violet mane. Her unicorn magic stopped, and the bullets fell to the floor. Applejack said to the other pony "I guess that this one's beginning to have second thoughts." "No matter, Applejack. He may want to go back on his word, but we simply cannot let him." "I reckon we bring him in by force, right Rarity?" Xavier interrupted them saying "I am having second thoughts, I don't have time for this." "Neither do we. So let's cut to the chase." Applejack then slammed the door shut with a strong kick from her hind legs. She and Rarity slowly approached Xavier with rather menacing stares. "We are on a tight schedule, and Princess Twilight doesn't wish for us to be tardy." said Rarity. "Come with us quietly, and we'll guarantee your safety, kid" said Applejack. Xavier felt that he wouldn't be able to find any other way out of this scrap. His pride as being the underdog amongst discriminative ponies said that he would fight until his last breath. "'Kid?' Well. If that's what you think, then you'll both blush a pretty pink when I kick your asses!" Xavier exclaimed as he charged at Applejack with his clenched fist ready to strike. This too was countered with Applejack stopping his punch with her own hoof to wear his arm down. Xavier struggled to bring back his arm, as the orange pony's strength was more than a match for his own. Applejack and Rarity finally defeated Xavier and pinned him to the ground. The two ponies stood on his arms to prevent him from getting up. "You cooled of yet, sugar cube?" said Applejack nearly exhausted from the fight. "What's the matter? Why the glare?" asked Rarity. As Xavier struggled to break free, he began to realize that he had no way of winning. He then stated "You two look as if you have been playing me from the beginning. I suspect that this isn't about me being a human, what's going on?"
