A True Homeby Tesla MoonChaptersprologueSurprize MeMagicDragons and BananasA standing windowprologueI was a typical 21 year old guy that watched a little girls television show for little girls called, My Little Pony. It wasn’t really that it was for little girls that I liked it for but because it let me get away from my problems. It was what I that could always brought a smile to my face. Who wouldn’t smile at colors and cute songs about whatever was going on at that moment in time? I had been studying for my mid-terms, when I felt really lonely. So to combat this I went on line and read some FIMfiction. I was wanted a smile so I read Know Your Mare. A hilarious fic that made fun of everypony on the show. I got a good laugh out of it, but at the bottom of the page where there is usually an advertisement for dating other bronies, there was a questionnaire. I thought it was one of those things were it told you what pony you were most like, so I clicked on it. It was a survey that asked a series of questions that seemed like an application form. I looked at it and figured I had time to do it before I went to bed. FULL NAME: Connor Clifford DO YOU HAVE AN OC: yes WOULD YOU LIVE IN EQUESTRIA: yes WHAT WOULD YOUR CUTIE MARK BE: a rain drop WOULD YOU GIVE UP MEAT: yes WOULD YOU HURT PONIES: no PLEAS GIVE A BRIFE REASON AS TO WHY: I would love to live in Equestria because it would let me leave my problems behind. I could have a fresh start with new ponies to befriend, and I could leave my unkind world behind. I could have a life worth living. Plus it be a good laugh. “There, all done. Now back to my stud…” I stopped mid word. My computer screen was turning into a bright light. I didn’t know what to do so I panicked and leapt from my chair. Slipped and hit my head on my desk. Then I promptly passed out onto the floor. … … I started to wake up, but I felt a throbbing pain in my head. I slowly opened my eyes but was blinded by the sudden increases of light. I blinked back tears and tried to sit up. It felt different when I did so. But I brushed that off for now. When I opened my eyes again I saw that I was In a white endless room with only one other person. I wasn’t in my room so I began to panic. Where was I? What happened? How did I get here? All of those questions were answered when I heard a familiar laugh echo all around me. “Discord?” I looked around me and saw the other guy was in a similar state that I was in. He seemed to hear the voice as well, so I stopped and waited for something to happen. I guess I got what I wanted because shortly after my thought, Discord flashed in onto a stage outside the group. The other guy turned to look at him as he started to murmur amongst himself. Discord started with his evil laugh that sounded almost playful. “Now, I bet you two are wondering why I have brought you here. Well that is because I wish to play a game. I shall send you all to another world so that I may have a new form of entertainment. The rules are simple, no pony can find out that your human, you can’t kill anypony, and no meat. Simple.” My human counterpart spoke up… after he picked his jaw up from the floor. “That doesn’t make any sense!” he shouted. I couldn’t help it I had to say it. “Whats the fun in making sense?” I asked and burst out laughing. Discord then joined in on my joke, roaring with laughter. After we composed ourselves, after about a minute of laughter, Discord teleported me on stage and greeted me. “Ah, the wild card of the two I picked. I shall allow you to go first. So, pick your drop zone.” He said with a smile that seemed genuine enough. “What do you mean?” I asked not really awake yet. “Were do you want to be sent silly pony?” he asked. “Oh, ummm… can you send me to the castle throne room? That should make a nice first appearance.” I told him. “Very well, have a nice trip!” he said to me as a white light enveloped me. I saw a bright flash of light, and then I was gone. When the light was gone I reappeared in a flash of light in the middle of a war zone. It was dark and I could see the sun and moon fighting for dominance over the sky. I could see two ponies battling in the air. There was a white with a flowing rainbow mane, and a black with a blue shadow mane, Celestia and Luna. If I remembered from the season four premier, the fight was coming to an end. Deep inside I didn’t want Luna to be sent to the moon, she had suffered enough by attacking her own sister. She had been taken by the nightmare. Either by luck or instinct, I leapt into the air with my wings beating franticly to gain speed. I was flying to save a princess, to save Luna. As I approached I was unnoticed by either of the two alicorns, locked in a magical stalemate. I knew that the Elements of Harmony wouldn’t hurt me, but it didn’t make what I did any easier. As I got closer, I pushed Luna out of the way just before Celestia’s magic hit her. It was a strange feeling being hit with her magic, like being hit by a really hard pillow. It almost tickled. There was another flash of light, then I saw stars. But these were real stars. Not cartoony ones that you see after being hit on the head. I was on the moon. The cold, dark, lonely moon. I was going to be alone for one thousand years, or until I die, whichever comes first. “Wait! Did I just fly!?” Surprize MeNine hundred ninety-nine years and three hundred sixty-four days spent on the moon. And it was finally time to go home. When I first got here, I was in such a rush that I didn’t even look in a mirror. I was a black pegasus that had a blue and black striped mane. My cutie mark was a rain drop, and my wings were awesome. My body was black like the night sky, but my eyes were a blood red color. I was my OC, Midnight Rain. Now to anypony wondering how I’m still alive. The best answer I can give is magic. That should sum everything up. How did I pass the time? I slept. A lot. Speaking of sleep, I’m a little bit tired. When I woke up I was on a nice comfy bed. I was under heavy warm blankets. As much as I wanted to stay right there, under the covers, I had to discover where I was. I rolled over onto the floor with a loud thump. “Oh! Hey, gravity! I forgot about you.” My face hurt. There was a knocking noise at my door. “Come in!” I called to it. The door opened and in walks captain of the royal guard, Shining Armor. When he tried to introduce himself I cut him off. “Hey Shinny, how is Cadence?” I asked him. He seemed scared after I said that to him. “I need you to come with me.” He told me. He started to walk out the door, as I got up grumbling. Trotting after him, I triped and fell on my face. God I hate gravity. We were walking in a hallway towards a large set of doors. In said hallway, were many glass paintings of everything. But one was missing. The one were Twilight and the other elements kick Luna’s butt. I couldn’t help but feel like I messed up the time line. I wonder if she will get the elements another way. As we neared and open set of large double doors, I saw the two royal sisters sitting side by side, talking about how Luna could move the sun if she had too, it is technically a star. They stopped when they saw me come into the room. They kindly asked for Shiny to leave, despite his insistence otherwise. There we sat in silence for what seemed like forever, but was really only five minutes. Celestia took a deep sigh before she began to speak. “I would like to thank you for what you have done. If you had not intervened, I would have spent the last one-thousand years without my dear sister. For this I am in your debt, shall you wish for anything and I shall grant it.” She said. She didn’t seem mad at all. Take that Stan. With her offer in the air, I took her up on it. I had spent a great deal of time thinking about what I would want when I came back. “Well in that case. I would like to have royal guard status of a captain and a house in Pony vile.” I told her poker faced. The look of shock on her face was almost too much to keep my laughter in. she leaned over to her sister and they launched into a series of hushed whispers over the topic. It took them another minute to come to a conclusion. “Granted. So long as you swear not to abuse this power in any way to harm one of my little ponies. The house deed will be given at your departure of the castle. We shall also inform Shining Armor of your captainship.” “Thank you Tia.” I used a nick name because her full name just seemed ungrateful. Without missing a beat she smiled at the name and giggled. “Now if you will excuse me …. I don’t recall getting your name.” “My name is Midnight Rain. Pleased to meet you princess.” “Well as I was saying, I have agreed to give Luna a moment alone with you. So if you will excuse me Midnight.” She said as she walked to the large doors that I had entered from. I watched her as she went wait to say she was lying call for her guards. She did neither of those things. When the door closed behind her I looked back at Luna who had been waiting for me to give her my attention. She got off her thrown and walked over to me. As she got closer I saw that she had tears in her eyes and when she got about five feet away, she fell to the floor crying. “I’m so sorry. You have been on the moon for so long and I thought that you were even dead.” She cried. I was by no means nice back on earth, but I never liked to see anyone cry, especially not girls. So I trotted over to her and laid down letting her cry into my shoulder. Without even thinking about it, I began to sing a song that I felt fit this situation perfectly. Here is the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JmL7MVEwns When the song was over I looked down at Luna who had stopped crying, but was now hugging me very tightly. She looked up at me when I stopped, a small smile on her tear stricken face. I hadn’t been much of a singer but that didn’t mean that I wasn’t good at it. A lot of people really liked my voice. “Thank you. I feel much better now.” She stood up. “If there is anything else you need, let me know.” She then walked out the same doors as her sister. Ithink she likes us Well we did make her feel better. No no no. I mean like, like us. I don’t know. She’s a bit old for me don’t you think? After that I was greeted with silence. I sat there for a minute contemplating what I should do next. Before I could think of something my thoughts were interrupted by the doors swinging open and a guard walking in. I turned to him and looked him over. He was ….. a green zebra with black strips in golden armor, he also had red eyes. This was new. He stopped in front of me. Looking unsure about what to do, but then as if a light bulb light up over his head, his eyes seemed to brighten. “Do you like bananas?” he asked. How did he now about that!? Unless…. “I know where you can go bananas.” I said Then, together we both shouted out. “ON THE MOON BBBIIIIIITTCCCHHHHH!!!!!” “I finally found you after all those years of searching.” He said. “Well you didn’t look on the moon because you didn’t find me.” I told him. “What do you mean?” he asked. “I’ll tell you later. But now we should head to my new home in Pony vile. My name is Midnight Rain. What is yours?” “My name is Green Sparks. Friends call me, Sparky.” Later in Pony vile. “So where is this house of yours?” he asked. We had been in Pony vile for around half an hour. “The guard said that my house was on the outskirts of town. We should be nearby.” I told him. The guard had called me captain which meant that the guards had already been informed of my new status. He had given me a slip of paper with the home address on it. He had also informed me that my guard armor and commission would be waiting for me. He said the key were under the mat. We had been walking for nearly an hour after we got to Pony vile. He had me carry him the hole way here; I was extremely tired from that much exertion. Did I say that gravity sucks yet? If not, it really sucks. As soon as I got home I was planning on taking a nap before I started to catch up with Sparky. “Hey, is that it over there?” Sparky asked, pointing to an empty looking house. I looked dow at the slip of paper in my hoof to check the address, they did indeed match. “Yep, that’s the one.” It was a rather large house. I knew I saved a princess, but I didn’t know it was that big of a deal. We walked up to the door I felt rather proud I could call this my home. I lifted up the mat and found a silver key lying under it. I picked up the key and unlocked the door and pushed it open. The size of the house looked bigger on the inside. The house was fully furnished with kitchen appliances, chairs, and beds. The grey couch in the living room looked very appealing to me at this time, so without further exploration of the house, I hopped on and relaxed. “So why don’t you tell me where you have been this hole one-thousand years?” A voice said beside me on the couch. I sighed and figered that I didn’t really need this sleep. “I’ve been on the moon. I saved Princess Luna and ended up on the moon.” I told him. “I was stuck up there for one-thousand years. I just got back today. As my reward for saving her I got to become a captain of the guard, a house, and a voice in my head that is supposedly me with no restraint. Anything else you want to know?” He just sat there looking dumbfounded, a stupid look on his face. As if to clear his mind of the cob webs that had filled it, he shook his head and went back to normal. “Well you sure did mess up the time line didn’t you? Did you know that AJ got married in this time line?” he asked. “I was worried about that. Who did she marrie?” He got this weird smirk on his face that just shouted prid. “She married me.” He said. If I had water in my mouth I would have made an impressive spit take. “Good job. But why here, why not Twilight or Rainbow Dash?” I asked His face looked as if I had struck him with a hot iron. “Apple Jack is best pony!” He shouted. Well that officially makes him a brony. I guess it makes sense that Discord would send two bronies her instead of regular humans. He had also been here longer than me, he had a head start. No fair! But then something hit me, the thing about the time line. “So you have been here a while, I don’t suppose you know what happened to the elements, do you?” I asked. He smiled like he saw this coming. “Don’t worry; the main six still have them. They got them when a hydra started attacking the town.” He explained to me. I let out a sigh of relief. “Now that we are all caught up, I need to get back to the farm. You should see about getting to know the town’s ponies.” He said. He got off the couch and went to the door. Before he left he turned back to me. “Don’t be scared to stop by the farm. It’s always good to see one of my best friends.” I raised an eyebrow at that. “Best friends?” I asked. “You’re the closest thing I have to home, so yeah, you’re my best friend.” He said with a wink. Leaving the house and closing the door behind him. I still had the rest of my house to explore before I wanted to leave the house anyways. I got off my rump and found that my house had five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and two storage closets. The kitchen fridge was full stocked with food, as well as the cabinets with glasses and dishes. In the main room there was a set of armor that resembled Shinning Armor’s, but this one had my cutie mark on the front and it was black with silver accents. Along with the armor, there was a bag filled with bits next to a pair of saddle bags, sitting on top of a note. The note said it was from Tia so I figured that I should read it. As a thank you, I would like to give you this bag of bits worth five-thousand bits. Thank you for stopping me from sending my sister away, I could not have made it this long without her. As a member of my royal guard, I have put you on our payrole. I do hope you feel welcomed in Pony vile. I also hope that you find the house large enough for your taste. All of these things, I know, cannot give you back all the time you have lost while on the moon, so should you need anything else, please come and see so that I can come closer to repaying my debt. Well I guess that means that I won’t be struggling for bits anytime soon. A lot of time had passed since I started to explore my house because when I looked out my window it was dark. I had been planning on going out to meet ponies, but I guess I could do that tomorrow. So today I guess I could go out to the bar that I saw when I first got to the town. I grabbed my armor and figured that I should start to break it in. I began putting the armor on with little hassle considering that this was my first time putting it on. I walked into one of the bathrooms to look into the mirror. Looking back at me was a pair of red eyes. They looked like Sparky’s. Maybe it had something to do with humans. I was a black pegasus with a blue mane with black strips, I thought I looked good in my armor. When I left the bathroom, I grabbed the saddle bags a put five-hundred bits into them. That should be enough to buy me some drinks. With bits, armor, and my good looks, I left my house, locking the door behind me. Now, where was that bar? Walking back into the center of the town I found the bar. The bar’s name was Berry’s Punch. I guess the fandom got her pegged right. I walked into the bar and saw an unexpected sight. Sitting at the bar, was the main six. But what really caught my eye was Fluttershy holding a mug of foaming cider in her hoof. There was a slight pink tint to her cheeks. They seemed to be the only other ones her at this time of night. I walked up to the bar and was greeted by a familiar looking pony. “Hi! My name is Berry Punch. You can call me Berry. What can I get you tonight?” she asked. “Surprise me.” I said. She got a mischievous look on her face, and walked away. I began wondering what the alcohol would be like compared to the stuff back home. Before I could answer myself, the six girls next to me burst out laughing. Rainbow had a deep blush on her face. While I was looking, Twilight looked me over and seemed to be thinking about something. I was about to ask what it was when she asked me first. “Are you a Captain of the royal guard? Because last time I checked, my brother was the only pony with that armor.” Figures she would notice something like that. “Yea, I’m a captain of the royal guard. I was promoted today.” I replied. This only seemed to peek her interest. “Oh, could you tell us why you were promoted?” I thought about it for a second. I figured that it couldn’t hurt to tell them. “Well, you know how a thousand years ago that pony saved princess Luna from going to the moon?” I asked. She nodded. “That was me.” I said. I laughed as her jaw dropped. “That’s not possible. You would have died from old age.” She said. I smiled. “I don’t know. AJ, do you think I’m lying?” I asked her. “Twi, I think this here fellers tell the truth.” She told her friend. Berry at this time came back with my drink; to pay her I put ten bits on the counter. She took them but stayed to watch me take a drink of it. I lifted the mug to my muzzle and took a long drink, downing half of it in one go. It tasted like lemon aid. When I put the glass down I looked at berry whose jaw was agape. “what, did I do something wrong?” I asked her. “How did you drink all of that and still be sitting up right?! That had some of the strongest drinks known to pony mixed together. But you just drank half of it.” To be honest I thought it was kind of weak. So she was trying to play a prank on me? Well, two can play at this game. “Hey, Berry. How about a little wager?” I asked her “What kind of wager?” she asked back. “Simple. me in a drinking contest, I’ll give you four-hundred and ninty bits. If I win, I get free drinks here, for life. Are you in, or out?” A confident smile crossed her lips. “You’re on.” She said. She left to go and get the drinks for the competition. This should be fun. Rarity spoke up from behind Twilight. “Darling, maybe you should reconsider this.” I just turned to her and gave her a wink. Berry came back with the drinks. “This is the strongest drink I own. If you can drink more than me, you can have free drinks.” She said. “Hoof me the bottle. I want to see what is in it.” I saw AJ narrow her eyes at me, seeing through my lie. Berry hoofed it to me and I took it. Pretended to look at the label then smiled. I pulled the top off then began chugging the whole bottle. The flavor reminded me of whisky back home. Once the bottle was gone, I slammed it down to look at Berry. She looked at me with awe, much like one would look at a god if they meet one. “That’s impossible. You just drank a full bottle of the strongest drink known to ponies. You are a GOD to me. You can have all your drinks for free here.” She said. Well that worked better than I thought. I looked over to the other girls; they all had their mouths open. Rainbow was the first to recover. “That was totally awesome! How did you do that? No pony has ever beaten Berry in a drinking contest. You just got twenty percent cooler!” she reached out and put her hoof in front of me. I bumped mine to her’s and she made a very girly eppp. She then fell to the floor. I paniced at first but then I saw that she was still breathing which meant that she was just passed out. Twilight took this as a signal for them to leave. “Alright girls, I think its time for us to go home. Fluttershy, can you carry Rainbow Dash to her house?” she asked but frowned when she started to wobble when she stood up. I cut in before she could think of something to do. “I can take her home if you want me to. I can still fly.” I told her. She sighed in defeat. “I guess that’s fine. Do you know where she lives?” she asked. I nodded. “Well make sure you don’t drop her.” I nodded again. With that Twilight lead the rest of the girls out of the bar. When they were gone I said good bye to Berry and she said that I was welcome back anytime. As I pulled Rainbow on my back, I began searching for her cloud home. It was above the center of the town, near Sugar Cube Corner. With Rainbow laid out on my back, I took flight toward her home. It was a short flight, and when I got there the door was unlocked, so I walked inside and up a flight of stairs to Rainbow Dash’s room. She had a cloud bed that look super soft to me right now. I walked over to the bed and deposited Rainbow onto her bed. I pulled her cloud blanket over her, causing her to stir. When I went to pull my hoof away she grabbed it. I looked at her, her eyes were cracked open and a blush was on her face. “Please, don’t go. Stay with me tonight. I looked into her bright, adorable eyes. I just couldent say no even if I wanted to. “Okay. I’ll stay.” I told her. I crawled into bed next to her. She scooted back, pushing her body up against mine. She let out a content sigh, causing me to smile. I wrapped my hooves around her making her snuggle into me even more. Before I let sleep over come me I heard her mumble something. “Thank you.” She whispered. The last thing I thought was, I’m finally sleeping with a girl! MagicI woke up in the morning, snuggled up to Rainbow Dash. I still couldn’t believe that she had asked me to stay the night with her, even if she was drunk. I just lay there, with an attractive mare using my neck as a pillow. She had a slight snore which was adorable. I couldn’t help but laugh at that. The laughing caused Rainbow to wake up though. She blinked a few times to clear the sleep from her eyes. She looked up into my eyes and smiled. I didn’t even think she remembered how she got home, let alone who I even was. “Good morning Rainbow. Did you sleep well?” I asked her. She smiled and nodded. “Thank you for flying me home, and for staying with me last night. It meant a lot to me.” She sadly smiled after that. “It was just that an old friend came back and acted like a jerk to me and my new friends. I felt so lonely.” I knew who she was talking about. She was talking about Gilda the griffin. I nodded in understanding. I was on that moon for all that time, all of that time was spent alone. This also explained why they all went to the bar. Hey! What about me?! I sighed and pulled Rainbow closer to me, trying to make her forget the loneliness. She smiled as I hugged her, hugging me back. She pulled back and looked into my eyes again. “I told my friends that I would meet them at Sugar Cube Corner this morning. Would you like to come with me for breakfast?” she asked. As if answering her, my stomach growled at me. I haven’t eaten since I got here. “I would love to join you.” I said. She smiled and hugged me again when I said that. With that she hoped out of bed and trotted down the stairs. Shortly after that, I got out to and headed down stairs after her. She was waiting for me by the door with her saddle bags already strapped on. “I’m ready to go now if you want.” I told her. She opened the door and flew down towards the gingerbread house below. I jumped down after her, free falling until I was about fifty feet from the ground and snapped my wings open until I slowed enough that I could land. I walked the rest of the way to Sugar Cube Corner. When I got to the bakery Rainbow was already inside talking to Twilight about how much better they all made her feel last night. But my friend Sparky was there to, sitting at one of the booths. So I walked over to him to start a conversation. “Hey Sparky, Whats new today?” I asked once I was close enough so I didn’t have to yell. The bakery was small compared to other buildings but had a more filled feal to than my own home, it was almost warmer. He looked over at me and smirked. “I was about to ask you the same thing. I heard some pony beat Berry at her own game last night. You know anything about that?” he asked. “Yeah she called me a god, and gave me free drinks in her bar for life. Then after that I flew Rainbow home and ended up sleeping with her.” As soon as the words came out of my mouth I knew I was in trouble. “By that I mean that we actually slept. Just in the same bed.” I corrected. “I don’t care what you did. She has been mopping around for a week. But today she looks so much happier. Good job.” He smiled at me from his seat across from me. Before he could continue I looked out the window to see a cart being pulled by a blue pony wearing a cape and hat adorned with stars. We both let out a low growl at the sight of the mare. “I’ve messed up the time line enough so I’m going to let you pick this time. We can either let the girls deal with her like on the show, or we can intervene and have some fun today.” I gave him the option this time because I saved Luna and messed up the time line big time, so now it was his turn. He looked over at me a wicked smile on his face. “Whats the plan, how can I help, and what do you need?” He asked. I smiled; this was one of those things that I had thought about while on the moon. I had the perfect plan. “Okay, so do you know the song Magic by B.o.B?” he nodded his head. “well if we sang that song, I don’t think anypony could beat us. So what do you say, you in?” I asked. “Oh I’m in, but we will need help with the electronics and such. We could ask DJ PON3 if is willing to hook us up.” He smiled. “She owes me one anyways.” He said. I’ll have to ask about how he got said favor at a later date. We nodded at each other again. Simultaneously getting up and walking towards the door. Seeing as it was our own affairs, I failed to tell the others what we were planning and as a result we were stopped at the door by Rainbow she looked really sad. “Where are you going? I thought you were going to eat breakfast with me.” She sat down looking defeated. I sat down next to her. “Don’t worry I’ll be back. I promise I will never abandon you Rainbow.” I told her. She looked up at me tears in her eyes and a frown on her face. “Pinkie promise?” she asked, still crying. I sighed. “Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!” I recited cheerfully. She smiled after that. I loved to see her smile, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. “I’ll see you tonight then?” she asked. I nodded with a smile. “Okay have fun” she then flew back over to Twilight to continue their conversation. We continued on our way only stopping once to go to the bathroom. Once we reached her house I realized two things. One, ponies had technology, and two, Vinyl makes great music. Sparky knocked on the door and the music stopped. When the door opened there was a white mare with a shaggy electric blue mane. Sparky introduced me and gave her the rundown of the plan nodding all the while. When he was done explaining the plane she agreed to loan us her stuff so long as we beat Trixie good. I told her she could bet on it. Now that we had the stuff, we had to mount it all on a cart, luckily Sparky had one big enough back at the barn. So while Vinyl gets all the stuff ready for us, we would be getting the cart to mount it all on to. So we walked over to Sweet Apple Acers making idle chit chat as we walked. About things that I missed while I was gone. “Since you were gone, I ended up not having a best man at my wedding.” He said. Wait, he didn’t find anyone else to be his best man? That seemed a little extreme to me. “Why? Couldn’t you find some other pony to fill it?” I asked him. “It’s not like that.” He sighed. “I don’t make many friends. Yeah I have AJ and the girls but I don’t really have any guy friends. They all seem to think I’m a freak.” I looked at him and saw total hopelessness. “I didn’t have anypony attend my wedding either. If it wasn’t the happiest day of my life, I would have cried.” I reached over and put my hoof around him trying to comfort him. “That’s no way to feel surrounded by all this candy colored ponies. I mean how many humans can say that they can live the rest of their lives in a magical kingdom filled with ponies?” I looked back over at him to catch a glimpse of a smile on his face. “We should be happy, not mopping around because not many people like us.” He finally looked over at me and smiled back. “Okay, your right. And in a little while, we can bask in the glory of showing up Trixie. What in the hay could top that?” he asked. I couldn’t think of anything so I just nodded. About a minute later, we reached the barn he had told me about. When he pushed the barn door open, I saw that, there was indeed a large carte that we could put all the stuff onto. It even looked big enough for us to sing on too. “This looks perfect, Sparky. Good job. Now all we have to do is hall it back to Vinyl’s place and then were off to the show.” He nodded in agreement. “I can pull it if you want. It doesn’t look that heavy.” I said. He helped me put the straps on around my torso, so that I could pull it. I was slightly worried about not being strong enough to pull the cart, but it felt light, too light. I brushed it off to ask about later and continued to pull it along. It seemed to me that it took less time to get back to Vinyl’s house, and when we got there, all the stuff we asked for was put out so we could load it onto the cart. It took us some effort to load it all by hoof, Stupid unicorns and their cheating magic. None the less when it was done we spared no time in hurrying over to the crowed of ponies. But it seemed like we were too late to save Rarity from having her mane turned into a green rat’s nest. Now that we had all the stuff we needed, we could finally put this mare in her place. I turned to Sparky who was busy undoing my harness. “So, you ready to sing?” I asked. He looked up from what he was doing and seemed to be worried about something. He sighed for what seemed like the tenth time today. “I don’t know the whole song. I’m sorry; please don’t be mad at me.” He looked like this was really all that big of a deal. I just laughed at his stammering apologies. “Look it’s not that big of a deal. Do you know the chorus?” I asked. He nodded. “Then you can be my back up singer. That way people can see how cool you are. So stop the water works.” I put my hoof on his shoulder, which gave him a determined look on his face. “All right, now that’s better. Now when the music starts I want you to open for me. Then when it’s past the chorus, I’ll jump in and then we’ll sing together.” He nodded and got up on the cart. He grabbed a mic and I grabbed an identical one that Vinyl had given us. I looked up to see Sparky nod at me, ready for me to start the music. But before I did I had to get everyponies attention. “HEY! TRIXIE! PICK ON SOMPONY YOUR OWN SIZE!” I yelled through the mic. I hit the play button and the music started. Here is the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1oTtzKsJyA When the song was over I took a second to catch my breath, and when I looked up I saw that everypony was cheering for us. I spoke back into my mic to Trixie. “Top that!” I said. The cheering continued as she got off of her stage and folded it back up into the trailer it was. Sparky and I had won; there was no doubt about it T he mare that I had brought up had started dancing with us during the song. I was now taking a better look at her. She had green coat with a dark green mane, she walked up to and tapped me to get my attention. “I wanted to thank you for bringing me up here, captain.” How did she know that I was a captain? Oh, I’m still wearing my armor. I smiled at her and she smiled back at me. “If you ever want to stop by, I work at the café down the street, you should come sometime.” She said. She walked off the stage leaving me to ponder what ponies thought of a captain of the royal guard, was doing singing a song like that. I wasn’t left alone for long however because Vinyl hoped onto the stage. “Dude, That was awesome. I should have you DJ at my club in Canterlot sometime. My fans would love you.” “Thanks, that means a lot coming from you. Thanks for letting Sparky and I use your equipment, it really helped out a lot.” I told her. With that she walked away muttering about how she could get me to DJ for her. I guess that could be fun, I could make all the guards go, improve moral and all. Now that all the fun was done, most of the ponies started to go on about their daily lives. A few stayed back and told me what a good job I did. I thanked them and told them it was fun. When everypony else was gone Sparky walked over to me, “Thanks for doing this with me, I had a lot of fun singing. We should do this again sometime.” “Totally. Brohoof?” I asked extending my hoof. He seemed surprised at first, but smiled and bumped his hoof to mine. “Hey, could you take the cart back? I have to get something taken care of.” “Yeah I can do it. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said. I helped him get strapped into the cart’s harness, so that he could get home sooner. When I was done we said good bye and parted ways. When I turned around I was looking into a set of magenta eyes looking back at me intently. “Hey Rainbow, are you hungry? I missed breakfast, and I know this café that’s just down the street. Would you like to come with me to get something to eat?” I asked. “Yeah I could go for something to eat.” She said. I hope this makes up for me bailing on her earlier at sugar cube corner. “So was that why you left earlier?” she asked. “Yeah, it was. Are you mad at me for that?” I asked her. “No, I’m not mad at all. Trixie was just being a loud mouth and showing everyone up. It was awesome the way you came and beat her like that. I should be thanking you” “You’re welcome; it was fun singing in front of all those ponies. Maybe next time you could join me.” “That would be. So. Awesome!” she said. As we kept walking I finally found the restaurant that mare was talking about. It was called the Hay and Bail. I thought it had a rather catchy ring to it. I lead Rainbow in and a waiter was there to take us to a booth in the corner of the establishment. When we were seated, the waiter gave us menues and went back to his post. Before I had the chance to open my menu Rainbow Dash cut into my train of thought. “So what made you want to come to this place, it doesn’t look like anything special?” she said. “A friend of mine told me to come here sometime, so here I am.” I opened my menu to see that it was all in French. Well I guess I’m going to have to point at whatever sounds good. On the other side of the table I herd Rainbow gasp. “Are you alright Rainbow Dash?” “Have you seen these prices? Are you sure you want to eat here? We could go someplace else, someplace cheaper. We don’t have to eat here you know.” `I laughed at her, why would I care what food cost? Food is always worth what it cost. I managed to turn my laugh down to a snicker before I said. “Just get whatever you want, okay? I’m buying this meal.” I told her. She visibly relaxed when I said that. Maybe she didn’t have money or just didn’t want to pay it. I was going to pay for the both of us. When a waitress came by to take our orders, she recognized me as the pony from earlier. “Pardon me, but I don’t believe I caught your name.” she said. I smiled at her. “Midnight Rain at your service. May I ask your name?” "You may, my name is Ruby Green, you can call me Ruby.” She said. “Can I take your order?” she asked. I lifted my menu and pointed at random. She wrote it down and moved on to Rainbow Dash, who used a similar strategy to get what she wanted. “I shall return shortly with your meals.” She left me and Rainbow alone to make small talk. “So do you have to do anything after this, Midnight? Because it’s getting late and you said you would be with me tonight.” It was getting late? I looked out the window to see that the sun was indeed setting. “I was feeling a little tiered and was hoping you could sleep with me.” At that my eyes widened. “What, oh not like that! I meant like actually sleeping. Umm… not that I don’t want to sle…” I put a hoof to her mouth to stop her before she embarrassed herself. “I know what you meant. But I have to make a quick stop at Canterlot after this.” She frowned. “But after that I’m all yours.” I said with a wink, causing her to blush a light pink. It was so cute I almost dawwed at her. have to stop in Canterlot because I’ve noticed a lack of guards in Pony vile. So I was going to ask Tia if she would mind transferring some other guards here. Then I would leave and come back and snuggle with Rainbow in her nice comfy bed made of clouds. That sounds really nice. But that will have to wait for latter. Ruby came sooner than I expected with our food balanced on her back. It looked like bread and fruit put into a salad with a light dressing that I couldn’t describe. When she put the food down I thanked her and started on my meal. I let out a sigh of content when I felt food in my stomach, it had been empty for years and now I was finaly having a meal. I was in heaven. "This is the first meal that I have eaten in forever. Thank you for coming with me. It means a lot.” I told her after I was done. She had finished sooner than I had, and smiled at me. “I’m glad. I should get home. Are you sure that you have to go to the castle today?” she looked ike she was pleading with me, but as much as I wanted to go back to sleep with her, I had to get this town protected from the ursa that should be in town tonight. I nodded my head, much to her disappointment. “Well, I’ll see you tonight.” She got up and left the booth to head home. I waited for Ruby to come back to see if I needed anything to ask for the check. She looked hurt. “What gave you the impression I was going to have you pay. I don’t charge friends at my own restaurant. That would be rather rude don’t you think?” so she owned the place as well as worked here. She must be dedicated. “Well in that case, thank you for the meal, Ruby, it was rather…. Filling.” I said. She giggled at me. “I should be leaving now, Ruby. It was nice to see you.” I said as I got up out of the booth. “Come again!” she called to me as I walked out the door. When I looked up at the sky, I saw that the sun had set and the moon had taken its rightful place in the sky. It was dark but I could still see the outline of the castle from here. It only looked about an hour’s flight away from here. I Might as well start the flight now. I took flight, flying into the night sky. I was about half way to the castle when I started talking to Stan. "So what changed since we got on this planet? last i herd you hated Rainbow Dash." “I never hated her, I just thought she was the worst of the main six. Never said I hated her.” “Oh, I understand. You liked her, just not as much as the other five, right?” “Bingo! You catch on fast.” "Well I am you, stupid. I just don’t have any remorse.” “I heard that!” “Why do you think I said it?” We continued back and forth about stupid things like meat and how I’m bad company. But once I landed outside the castle Stan “left” me so I could meet with Tia and Luna alone. I had landed outside the castle gate that was being guarded by two night guards. I walked up to the gate but when I tried to push it open the two guards pushed me back onto my flank. “Where do you think you’re going?” The one on the right asked. Nopony is allowed past this point after dark unless you have clearance. Move along.” I started laughing at him. He really didn’t know who I was. Maybe I should show him. “What are you laughing at boy?” “Hmmm? Oh! Didn’t you hear? It’s past curfew.” I smiled wickedly. I brought my hoof into the left guard’s face as hard as I could. Then I turned and bucked the right guard in the face. Hard. “Lights out.” I looked down at the two of them. I hope I didn’t do any long lasting damage. Now that those two were out of the way, I pushed the gate open and walked into the castle. I stopped two passing guards and told them about the two “sleeping” guards at the front gate. They looked between themselves and walked away to the front gate. I continued down the hallway until I found a stair well that would take me to the top of the castle where Tia’s sleeping chambers where. When I got to the top of the stairs I saw two doors, a black door and a yellow door. I faced the yellow door and pushed it open. Not bothering to knock, I just walked into see Tia sleeping on her massive bed. I walked over to her bed and put my hoof on her shoulder, shaking lightly. After I doubled my efforts, Tia’s eyes slowly cracked open. “Ugh. What do you want, Midnight?” "I want five guards to take with me to Pony vile.” "Take them and go. I want to go back to sleep.” She rolled over, done with the conversation. That was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I shrugged and left her room and walked to where I think I passed the barracks. Once I got back down the stairs it was easy to find the large door that lead to the barracks. When I pushed the door open, I was greeted with a dark room filled with rows of bunk beds. When I looked closer, I saw ponies sleeping in them. However, in the corner of the room, there was a table with several ponies sitting at it. I walked over to see them playing a game of cards. When they saw me coming they all sat in their chairs straighter. “Hi. I’m captain Midnight Rain.” I introduced myself. “We know who you are, captain. What can we do for you?” a pegasus pony at the far side of the table asked. “I need five pegasi to come with me to Pony vile. Those of you that come with me will be stationed there until otherwise notified. Are there any volunteers?” I waited a moment for somepony to step forward. The pony at the far side of the table stood and walked behind me. Then four other pegasi stood and fallowed behind him. “We are at your command, sir.” They all said at once. Well at least I got five of them. I nodded my head at the door that I came through, telling them that we were leaving. We walked out the door and down the hall that I had come through when I first arrived. When we got to the gat I noticed two other guards had been posted at the gate, but these ones let us walk past. Once we were outside the gate, we took flight towards Pony vile. “SO, what are you ponies names?” I asked after we had cleared the city. I hadn’t gotten their names yet. The first one to answer was a white pegasus with yellow eyes and mane. “I’m White Wash. This is Jet Fire.” He said, pointing to a black pegasus with red eyes and mane. He nodded at me. The next was the first pony that stood up from the table. He was white with a black mane, but had blue eyes. “I’ m Sapphire.” Was all he said to me. Then the other two spoke up. They both had gray fur, with purple spiky manes and eyes. "My name is Blitz and this is my sister Star Light.” He introduced, smiling at his sister. “Well, I’m Midnight Rain. Pleased to meet you all. If you didn’t know, I was the one who was sent to the moon. I am immortal and I saved princess Luna. Any questions” I finished. They all looked at me like I was crazy, mouths open and eyes wide. Blitz was the first to recover. “Not that this is that important, but where are we going to be staying? Part of the reason we don’t have guards in Pony vile is because there is nowhere for us to stay.” He said. I hadn’t thought about that. But I guess they could stay in my house. It has enough space for all of them to stay there comfortably. Yeah that could work. “You can all stay in my house. It has enough rooms for you all to have your own. So it’s no problem.” I told them. Nobody else spoke up for the rest of the flight. It was a very quiet flight, filled only with the soft beating of our wings flapping up and down. But when we started to get close to Pony vile, we started hearing screams coming from the town. When we could see what was happening, ponies were running back and forth in panick. I stopped a pony that was running past us. “Hey, why is everypony running?” “There’s an ursa in town. We all have to run!” he said. I let him keep running. Then there was a thumping that was getting closer until a blue monster came into our view. It looked like the night sky with the body of a bear. It let out a mighty roar, causing everypony nearby to scream and run for cover. “Alright, here’s the plan. I want you guys to get everypony back into their homes until its safe.” I told them. “But what are you going to do, sir?” asked Star Light. I looked at her and smirked. “I’m going to distract it so you have more time to get the job done. Now go!” They stopped arguing and went to help the ponies get into their homes for safety. I turned to the ursa ready to give them as much time as they needed. “Alright tubby, let’s dance.” I launched into the air, heading right for the ursa, stopping right in front of its face. We stayed there, motionless for a while. But then this funny idea popped into my head. I reached out my hoof and bopped it on the nose. It seemed surprised that I did that. It recovered and let out a roar filled with spit and bad breath. “Dude, you need a breath mint!” I probably shouldn’t have said that. It raised its paw and swatted me right out of the sky and into the Trixie’s show cart. I skipped off the ground a couple times after that until I ran into a door that busted open, slowing my momentum. When I opened my eyes I was surrounded by books. “Umm…. Can I help you, Midnight?” I turned around to see Twilight was in the room with me. But before I could answer, Spike came into the library. “Twilight you’ve got to come, quick!” He exclaimed, out of breath. But the look twilight had when she went back to her book just screamed “no”. “I already told you, Spike. I don’t want to show up Trixie.” She said. There was a loud roar that seemed to come from all around us. “Was that what I think it was?” she asked. Before Spike could say it, I jumped in. “Majorly.” With that, we rushed out the door to see that the ursa was crushing a house. You have to do something. My guards and I can’t stop this ourselves. We need you \, Twilight.” She looked at me unsure at first, but then a look of determination took over her features. She took a stance and started to preform her first spell, making the air fill with a soothing melody. The ursa started to sway before it started falling over. Twilight caught it before it could crush somepony. Seeing that she had the situation under controle, I went over to the house that had been crushed. Under the ruble, I could hear calls for help. I started pulling off ruble until I found a pony with a heavy beam of would pinning her to the ground. I knew I could lift it, but the pony looked beat up bad. I needed help, and luckily, I say Jet Fire running past. “Hey, Jet Fire. I could use a hoof here.” I called out to him. He looked over and started running to my aid. “I can lift the beam, but I need you to pull him out.” He nodded. I put my hoofs under the beam and started to lift it, giving enough room so that Jet could pull the pony out. Once we were done, I dropped the beam with a crash. “All right, good team work. Now take him to safety and find him some medical attention.” He gave me another nod and started off to the Pony vile hospital. Before I moved on I could hear a little filly’s crying. It was still coming from the ruble. I doubled my efforts to make sure that the filly was alright. Once I cleared enough rouble, I found a small filly that had a white coat, and a purple and pink mane. She had been trapped under a large piece of wood. I pulled the wood off allowing the filly to escape. Once out, she grabbed onto my hoof and started crying softly. I pulled her up onto my back so that I could keep moving. By the time I had rescued the two ponies from the ruble. The ursa was gone and a crowd of ponies surrounded Twilight. I joined the crowd and pushed my way into the center. Before I could say anything, Rarity ran up and pulled the filly from my back. “Sweetie, darling. Are you alright?” In the cutest voice I have ever heard, she looked up from crying and nodded. “I’m alright, this nice stallion saved me from being crushed.” Rarity looked at me and smiled. “Thank you, darling. I shall not forget this.” I smiled back at her. It felt good to do something nice for others. I turned and headed out of the crowd and walked over to my fellow guards. They all had their heads down and seemed sad. “Why the long faces?” I asked once I was in ear shot. They all looked up in relief at me. Sapphire was the first to speak. “We thought you were dead. I saw you get hit by that ursa and assumed the worst. I’m glad I was wrong.” “Well, that was a warm welcome. How about I show you to your new home?” I asked. They smiled and laughed at my joke. “Alright, let’s not waste time; I have some place I need to be.” When we got to my house, I turned and hoofed my key over to Sapphire. “Here. I want you to look after this for me. You can all choose your rooms, I will see you all tomorrow.” He took the key and I walked off. It took me some time, but I found where Rainbow’s house floated in the sky. I began the flight up and started to feel tired half way up. Man I really wanted to sleep. When I got to the door, I knocked and waited for Rainbow to come to the door. “You came back.” She squealed and hugged me. I stiffened at first, but then hugged her back. “I don’t know about you, but I’m tired. Can we go to bed now?” I asked. ahe grabbed my hoof and started to pull me into her house and up the stairs. Once in her room, I laid on the bed and pulled Rainbow in close. “Good night.” And then I allowed the clutches of sleep take me. But just before I was completely out, I thought I herd Rainbow mutter something. “Thank you.” Dragons and BananasThe next morning was much like the one before. I looked out the window because something seemed off. Other than the sun being low in the sky, which meant that it was way too early for me to be awake, there was black smoke coming from a nearby mountain. You have got to be kidding me! I thought I had more time than this. Don’t I get a break? I mean first the ursa, and now this? I sighed and walked down the stairs, maybe Twilight will know what to do. I sure don’t. I really don’t want to have to climb that mountain, that thing is steep. Wow, look at me, im more scared of a steep hill than a dragon. I had my sights set on the library when I saw that it looked like the whole town was in panick by the bridge that Twilight was standing on. Why is everypony up this early? Within the chaos, were my guards in a huddle to discuss what they should do next. I landed next to them first so I could give them orders for the day. When I landed, Star Light was the one to bring me up to speed. “Sir, if you didn’t know, the smoke is being caused by a ….” “Dragon.” I cut her off to make this quick. “I know what it is, and I know that Twilight and her friends are going up to stop it. I want you guys to keep the ponies from panicking by patrolling the town. I want one in the market, two in the sky, and two in the suburbs. You can take your pick of where you wish to go.” I told them. They all nodded and took off to which ever post they wanted. I was going to find Twilight to inform her that I would be her escort up the mountain. I waited at the library for everyone to show up. The first to come out was Twilight. “Hey Twilight, I was wondering if I could come with you.” “oh, okay that’s fine. Sparky is coming too, speaking of which, hey AJ.” I turned around and saw the Applejack and Sparky were coming this way. Applejack was wearing a set of green saddle bags with a red apple on the side. Sparky had a set that was black with green accents. “Hey Sparky, are you ready to climb that mountain? I’m sure as hell not. It looks way to steep for my taste.” I told him. He smiled and laughed. “Hell no! I don’t want to get eaten today.” He said. “Speaking of eating, you got any food? I missed breakfast again.” As if on cue, my stomach let out a menacing growl. With a role of his eyes he reached behind him and produced a shiny red apple. It shined bright in the sun light, creating a mirror effect. There I saw an image of a pony salivating over an apple. Without a second thought, I took the apple and proceeded to munch contently on it. In this short span of time, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity had shown up and formed a line, standing at attention. “Alright everypony, I’m mapping out the quickest route. But we will all need to keep a good pace if we’re going to make it to the top of the mountain by nightfall ” Came Twilight’s voice form in front of me, momentarily making me forget about my apple that was already half way gone. Next to me sat Fluttershy, or rather laid, shaking with fear. “Ma- mountain?” she asked “The dragon is in that cave at the very top.” She continued, failing to notice her friend that was quivering on the ground next to me. “Looks pretty cold up there.” Said Applejack. “You bet it is. The higher you go, the chillier it gets.” Rainbow said, adding a shiver when she said chillier. “Good thing I brought my scarf.” Came the swift reply from Rarity, pulling out a white and pink striped scarf from her saddle bags. Her saddle bags where pink, and had a large blue diamond on the side. “”Ohhhohh, pretty.” Pinkie said, entranced by the way the scarf blew in the breeze. When hearing this, my brony instincts kicked in. Sparky’s must have as well because we both said it at the same time. Also being the one to originally say it, Rainbow said it along with us. “Yeah, that will keep you nice and cozy.” Without looking I reached my hoof out to Sparky to give him a brohoof. He touched his to mine, making in addible clack in the silence that fallowed. Either worried it was her fault, or not wanting to remain in silence, Fluttershy walked up to Twilight who was a good twenty feet away. Twenty hooves? It doesn’t matter; she was out of ear shot for her small voice. I turned to talk to Sparky, wanting to make more conversation with the only thing that I could really call a friend here. But he was currently engaged in a conversation with Applejack. My next choice was Rainbow, but she and Rarity were also engaged in conversation. That left Pinkie. I was hesitant to talk to her because of this fanfic that I read awhile back. Cupcakes. I swallowed up my fear and attempted to make small talk with the pink mare. “Soooo, Pinkie. What was it like when you throw your first party?” I asked. I immediately regretted my mistake as she began to launch into a story about how she used to live on a farm an how boring her life was. I was attempting to look like I was lessening when I heard the cutest sound I have ever heard. I turned my head to see Twilight walking back while Rainbow was trying to convince her to leave Fluttershy here. “That pony is afraid of her own shadow.” She said. “She’s just going to slow us down.” Twilight, being new at the whole friend thing was oblivious to what her friend was trying to tell her. “Oh, she’s just a little nervous. Once we get going, I’m sure she will be fine.” A small yelp called both their attention. The yelp came from Fluttershy, she was trying to push away her shadow, and when that failed, she jumped into a bush to hide from it. Seeing how right Rainbow was didn’t deter her at all. “Alright girls.” I felt a little insulted by being called that, but got off my rump anyways. “Move out!” As one, we all started running towards the mountain which, coincidentally, was also right on course with Fluttershy. We just picked her up and carried her the whole way to the base of the mountain. Sometime later, after Fluttershy panicked trying to go up the Mountain… “thank you for carrying me, Midnight.” Came the small, embarrassed voice from my back. The map I got from Twilight showed that I was only half way to the agreed upon meeting place on the mountain. It’s not your fault you’re afraid of dragons, Fluttershy.” I replied. This was why I volunteered to take her up the mountain; I wanted to know why she was scared of dragons. Her voice seemed to get smaller before she answered. “H-how did you know that?” she asked. “I really don’t believe that you’re afraid of high things, Fluttershy. I’m not upset; in fact, I think you have a good reason for being scared. Would you mind telling me? If that’s alright with you.” I said. She let out a sigh. When I looked back at her, I saw a war raging inside of her, a war she seemed to be losing. “M-my parents were killed by a dragon.” That was not what I was expecting. Her eyes were swelling with tears. I pulled her off my back and set her in front of me. She gave me this knowledge about her that I didn’t think anypony else knew. Maybe I should tell her something about me too. I let out a sigh, the same sigh that Fluttershy let out only moments ago. “When I was a kid, only about thirteen years old, my parents died and I couldn’t do a thing about it. I was sleeping at a friend’s house and when I woke up to a man shaking my shoulder, I found out my mom and dad had died in a house fire. They didn’t deserve that, they were good people.” I had closed my eyes when I started the story, and when I opened them, Fluttershy had stopped crying and was now looking at me like I was a hurt animal. I was about to say that we should keep moving, but she reached over and brought me into a tight embrace. I was at a loss. Everything I knew about Fluttershy was that she was shy and slow to trust. But here she was, hugging me. While my momentary pause was unnoticed as I put my arms around her and returned the embrace. We sat there for maybe a minute before I broke the embrace, silently I lifted her back onto my back and we continued up the mountain. So I was right, Fluttershy really did have a good reason for being scared of the dragon. But I never expected it to be for this reason. It explains a few things though. Like why she is so quiet or why she is so attached to Angle Bunny. He is probably the only thing she has left of them. As we continued our way up the mountain, I noticed that instead of shaking violently on my back, Fluttershy was now hugging my neck as if I made her feel safer. My thoughts were soon confirmed when we arrived at the rendezvous half way up the mountain. When we got there, Fluttershy insisted that she walk the rest of the way. I let her down and walked over to Twilight. “This was I bad idea. I mean bringing Fluttershy that is.” Rainbow floated down from somewhere and hovered right next to my head. “At least somepony agrees with me.” She said with a smirk. I didn’t know if she knew that much about Fluttershy, or if she just assumed she was being unreasonably scared. Either way she was right. Without a word she turned around and kept on walking. We all fallowed her as she lead us to a gap in the path she had chosen. Rainbow Dash was the first to leap over gleefully. The way she made it look while jumping made the gap look so much farther than it really was. It was shorter than a pony is long, making it easy for me to just hop to the other side. Next came Twilight, Rarity, and Applejack fallowed by sparky. The only pony left to make the jump was Fluttershy. “Your turn Fluttershy.” Twilight said. Fluttershy looked over the ledge, gadging the possibility of her falling. She must have desided that the risk was too great because she jumped up against the side of the mountain. “But it’s so wide.” Came her response. “Come on Fluttershy, we should be much farther along by now.” Apple jack tried to help in coaxing her over the gap. “You could just, leap on over.” As if to think about it, Fluttershy looked over the ledge again. “I…” a roar rippled through the air causing her to leap back in fright. “I don’t know.” Suddenly, Pinkie got the idea that this matter could be solved with a song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7A7myjLxr4 Where ever she came up with that song, I’ll never know. But it must have worked because Fluttershy stood up and took the jump in steps. “A hop.” She hoped forward. “A skip.” She skipped. The girls and Sparky gave her cheers of encouragement. Then without saying the third step, she jumped. But her jump looked more like her putting her front hooves forward without leaving the ground. Her front hooves caught the other side of the jump, but another roar, louder this time caused her to freeze up. She lost her balance by doing so tipping over and falling. I was the first to act. I jumped off the side of a mountain and began plummeting to the ground. Fluttershy was not much farther down than me. A few good flaps gave me the needed push to catch up and grab her. I wrapped my hooves around her mid-section and started to pull up. This was a lot harder than it looked. Ponies may look cute and cuddly, but underneath they are all muscle. While not impossible, I still had some difficulty flying her back up to the cliff the other girls were stopped on. I set Fluttershy down next to Twilight, but then I fell flat on my face, exhausted. While the girls all made sure Fluttershy was alright, Sparky sat down next to me. “It’s a good thing you wanted to be a pegasus. Otherwise you might not have been able to fly her back up here.” He said. “I would have jumped either way.” I said. He pondered what I said for a moment before he smiled down at me and extended a hoof. I reached up and bumped his hoof for the second time today. The next part of the mountain was on a cliff with a steep overhang. There was a wall that I couldn’t see the top of because of the billowing black smoke. There was a few trees that daggled dangerously over the edge as well. “Okay everypony, the map says we’re entering an avalanche zone. Even the smallest peep could cause a huge rock slide.” Twilight informed us from the front. Nopony made a noise. The only sound that could be heard was the light clip-clop of hooves. We remained that way for a good while until the silence was broken by a piercing scream from behind me. “AVALAN….!” I turned around to see Applejack with her hoof in Fluttershy’s mouth, silencing her. We all remained still, Listening to the echo of Fluttershy’s scream. Once it died out, everypony let out a collective sigh. The sigh set of the avalanche. Once the ground started shaking, everypony panicked and ran for whatever direction they saw as the safest. I ran for the end of the avalanche zone, hoping to avoid being crushed. As I was running, rocks fell, getting larger and larger as time went by. One rock, one bigger than all the rest, started falling. Twilight was running right for where it was going to land. I didn’t even hesitate, I ran for her, hopping that I could push her out of the way. Before I could jump at her, I tripped and crashed into Twilight instead of pushing her. She was knocked out of the way but I skidded to a halt just before I was out of harm’s way. The rock fell, kicking dust up everywhere. It was dark and I felt as if I was being pushed on in every direction at once. My mind was groggy and I tried to move, but I could only move about a foot before I hit something. I was trapped and it was dark. Great. There was something else too. A noise I could not quite place, it almost sounded like digging. After maybe a minute of being in the dark, I was meet with a blast of sunshine. I felt something pulling my hoof, but whatever was holding me wasn’t going to let go. I had to wiggle around some until I was released and pulled out of a hole. “oh thank goodness we found you. I thought you were hurt.” That was Fluttershy’s voice. All the pieces snapped into place. I was just crushed by rocks. Great. I looked up to see a smiling face greet me. “I’m okay. Just need a second.” Everypony gave me space. But Fluttershy seemed to stick close to me. Once I felt that I was ready to get up, I stood without a problem. Twilight, seeing that I was ready to move on got up and started to climb the mound of dirt that now stood in our way. We managed to climb the mound without trouble, but going down, Fluttershy slipped and caused everypony to go down it like a water slide. The rest of the walk up was uneventful. Once we reach the cave though, Twilight gave us all directions. “Rainbow Dash, you’ll use your wings to clear the smoke.” Rainbow flew into the sky with a nod. “Rarity and Pinkie Pie, you’ll create a diversion to distract the dragon if things get a little hairy in there.” Pinkie started playing with a rubber chicken. “Applejack, you’re ready with the apples in case he decides to attack.” She tossed two apples into the air and bucked them into a nearby tree. “But it shouldn’t come to that because Fluttershy will do what she needs to do to wake him up. Between the two of us, I’m sure we get him to understand why he needs to go. Is everypony ready?” I raised my hoof. “Yes?” “what are apples going to do against a dragon?” I asked. she just rolled her eyes at me and walked into the cave. Fluttershy however did not fallow her. Soon after realizing this Twilight came out to retrieve her from the hole in the ground she buried her face into. “Come on, we have to do this.” Twilight started pushing her, but failed miserably. “Every second we waste, an acre of Equestria is covered in smoke.” Rainbow Dash joined in to help her push. Then Applejack joined in fallowed by Pinkie. I was impressed that she could hold back that much force. “I-I-I can’t go into that cave.” The pushing ceased as everypony pushing feel to the ground with a sigh. “Oh great, she’s scared of caves now too.” Cut in Rainbow. “I’m not scared of caves, I’m scared of …..” whatever she was saying was too quiet for me to hear. While everypony’s attention was directed to Fluttershy, I grabbed Sparky and walk into the cave. “What are you doing?” he asked once we were inside the cave. “We are going to deal with this. If we can’t, then we just have to sit and wait for the others to fail and for Fluttershy to do the stare.” I said in a matter of fact tone. The cave was dark, providing little in the way of light, I could barely see ten feet in front of me. Once my eyes adjusted I saw something that should not have been there. Sitting on a pile of gold and gems, was indeed a dragon. But unlike on the show, it was almost twice the size, and black. I was hesitant to try and wake this monster up, but I did it anyways. Much like with the ursa, I bopped it on the nose causing It to open its eyes, which were a deep purple with black cat-like slits in them, to stare at us. He let out a grumble that rumbled throughout the whole cave. “Umm… Sparky you want to take this one?” “Hell no! You made this mess so you can clean it.” “Well umm … I’m Midnight Rain, this is Sparky. We were wondering what it would take to get you to leave this cave and move.” It narrowed its eyes at me before it made a move. He pushed himself up and faced us. He was almost to the top of the cave, much taller than I was expecting. I also wasn’t expecting when he sucked in a breath, puffing out his chest. When he exhaled, a jet of fire came out with it. I rolled to the side to avoid it. “Okay! We’ll leave!” he stopped the flaming gout that was coming from his mouth. As I was backing out, a shiny light caught my eye. When I took a closer look, I saw that it was a golden sword. While his eyes were closed as he went back to napping, I grabbed it and proceeded out of the cave. “What were you thinking!?” asked an enraged Applejack. It was not directed at me, but at Sparky. “You could have been hurt. I don’t want to lose you too…” she was hugging him. I was relived to see that he was unharmed. I saw that my input wasn’t needed, so I walked over to the side of the cliff and hoped that the girls could solve this issue. If Rainbow Dash attacked him, I don’t think we could calm him down. I looked at the sword I grabbed when he wasn’t looking. While the blade was gold, the hilt was silver. At the end of the hilt, there was a finely cut ruby that sparkled in the sun. During my examination of the sword, Fluttershy had seated herself next to me. She seemed content to just sit there so I didn’t say anything. I looked back to see that Pinkie was emerging from the cave in a disheveled party outfit. She was wearing a present, flippers, and funky looking sunglasses. She also had one of those party things that you blow into to make noise. Rainbow’s voice cut off my train of thought. “Alright, I have had just about enough of this. I’m going in there and teaching that guy a lesson.” She said. This wasn’t going to end well. Before I or Twilight could stop her, she flew into the cave. I watched in horror as she turned in mid-flight and kicked it square in the nose. He didn’t react at first. He seemed puzzled by the rainbow colored pony in front of him. Then he sneezed smoke, clearing his mind. He roared at her, sending her flying back like a canon ball. By now everypony, minus Fluttershy, was standing at the mouth of the cave. I turned to Sparky, knowing what was coming. “Should we duck?” I asked. He looked at me. “We shall.” Together we ducked as Rainbow Dash came flying out knocking everypony else over like bowling pins. The dragon began to make his way out, showing how truly big he was. He was easily twice asbig as the one on the show. I also got a good look at him for the first time. He was mainly black, but had a purple under belly the same shade as his eyes. His back spines were a shimmering grey that reflected sunlight into my eyes. Everypony was in panic mode now. The dragon was standing at his full hight when he let out a roar that sent us all into a collision course with a rock. Once we all hit, the top half of the rock crumbled revealing a cowering Fluttershy. As soon as she saw us all laying on the ground groaning in pain, she started to get mad. “How dare you? HOW DARE YOU?!” she flew up and landed on the dragon’s nose. “listen here mister. Just because you’re big doesn’t mean you get to be a bully. You may have huge teeth and sharp sca…” before the stare could take full effect, the dragon flicked her off his nose. She came skyrocketing at the rock he put us into. When she hit, there was a muffled thump as she lay limp on the ground. This wasn’t happening. This was supposed to be a world filled with sun shine and rainbows. Not the demonic world that does this. I was ready to snap, I didn’t care about the rules anymore. No one hurts Fluttershy. The sword I had landed on the ground next to me. I picked it up, already formulating a plan, I had to kill him. But I couldn’t risk somepony else getting hurt. “Twilight, I want you to teleport everypony as close to town as you can get, I should be back before dark.” I told her. “What? Why would you want me to …” “Just do it.” I told her. She began charging magic as I turned to face the dragon that was looking at me with an amused expression on its face. With sword in hoof I took flight, I wanted to be face to face when I killed him. I heard the discharge of magic telling me they were gone. “Now dragon, I am going to kill you.” He started laughing at me, but I had a plan. . “YOU? A LITTLE PONY? IS GOING TO KILL ME?” he asked in a deep and rumbling voice. I was now right in front of his face. I could smell his ghastly breath from here. I was just waiting for him to make the first move so I make mine. The plan was to stab him in the eye. That was the only non-armored part of his body so that made it my only target. “SO I’M GOING TO ASSUME THAT YOU DON’T LIKE BANANAS” he said. What did bananas? What did that have to do with ….. oh you have got to be kidding me? “I know where you can go bananas.” “ON THE MOON BIIITTTTCCCHHH!” we said as one, but my voice was drowned out by his. “RIGHT THEN. I’LL BE GOING NOW.” He said turning to leave. “Wait. You’re just going to leave?” I asked. “THAT’S THE PLAN. LOOK, IF YOU NEED ME, GO TO THE DRAGON KINGDOM AND ASK FOR BLADE.” With like that he took flight. I turned to Pony vile to do the same. I slide the sword into a slot on my back and took flight. My flight home was silent, even Stan left me alone. He was from home and he wanted nothing to do with me. How did he even get here? Did Discord send him, and if so, why wasn’t he there in the white void? There were to many unanswered questions revolving around us being here. Why us and not someone else? I’ll have to think about this later. I landed in Pony vile after the sun had set, right outside of the library. I knocked at the door hopping somepony was home. The door was opened by a small purple dragon with green spikes. “Umm… your Midnight right?” “Yeah that’s me. Is Sparky and the girls here?” I asked. “Yeah, just come on in.” He gestured for me to enter, stepping aside to allow me entrance. When I walked in, I noticed two things right away. First, Fluttershy was crying, and second Sparky was staring at me, wide eyed. “Your alive.” It wasn’t a question but I felt that it needed to be answered. “Of course I’m alive. Why wouldn’t I be?” I asked. but the others had noticed my presence, and before I could even say ‘hello’ I was assaulted by a hug from Fluttershy. “You’re alright! I thought you weren’t coming back.” I hugged her back without hesitation this time. I looked at Sparky looking for an answer, but he just shrugged his shoulders. “Spike, take a letter. Dear princess Celestia, I am happy to report that the dragon has left our fair country, and that it was my good friend, Midnight, who convinced him to go. This adventure has thought me that a true friend can come from anywhere, and even new ones can help you overcome anything. Always your fateful student, Twilight Sparkle.” Her letter made me smile. I had made more friends here than I ever had back home. Fluttershy let me go, leaving me feeling cold inside. I got up and walked up to Sparky. “He knew were to go bananas. He was from home.” I was blunt, yes, but I felt he should know. “That’s not possible. Did you kill him?” his eyes had narrowed when he asked this. “No, Of course not. He left of his own free will.” I told him. He let out a breath and relaxed. “I don’t want you to worry about this yet okay? Let’s just see if any more of us pop up.” He nodded his approval. If any more of us do pop up, then we might have a problem. But if not then there is no need to worry. He coughed, pulling me out of my mind. “It looks like somepony want to talk to you.” He said and walked away whistling a merry tune. I turned around to see Fluttershy hoofing at the floor behind me, biting her lower lip. “Yes Fluttershy?” I asked. “Oh, umm… I was wondering if you, that is if you don’t mind. If you would …..” her voice dropped off again, making it impossible for me to hear her. “What was that?” she motioned for me to move closer. I stepped closer and she pulled my head down so my ear was even with her mouth. “I was wondering if you would stay the night with me.” She said. She released my head so I could look at her. She was still biting her bottom lip, but now she had a blush on her face too. “Yeah sure, I’ll stay with you.” She smiled and hugged me again. When she let go, she grabbed my hoof and pulled me out the door. Fluttershy’s house was a short five minute walk away. It looked just like it had on the show too. It looked warm even with the pale light of the moon shining on it. Fluttershy lead me into her home and up a flight of stairs into her bedroom. From what I knew of Fluttershy, this was like Rarity going to the market and kissing some random stallion. She was becoming rather fond of me. In her room there was a round bed that had two pillows and a green blanket. Fluttershy hopped on and snuggled under the covers. I joined her and let her cuddle into me as she drifted off to sleep. I was laying there thinking to myself when a disturbing thought hit me. I am a monster. A standing windowThe next day I woke up before Fluttershy. She was cuddled into my chest, using me as a pillow. The way the light that was in the room gave her a glow that light up the room. She was so cute it almost hurt to watch her sleep. Almost felt like I could stay there forever, but there was a loud crake of thunder that woke her up. She blinked her eyes to get the sleep out of her eyes. “Good morning, Fluttershy.” I said while stretching. “Oh, good morning. How long have you been awake?” she asked with a blush, just know realizing that she was using me as a pillow. “A couple minutes.” I smiled. I was a little concerned about what was happening outside. Where there was thunder, there was normally rain. I doubt Fluttershy will let me leave if it starts to rain hard enough. Fluttershy got off of me, much to my displeasure. She walk down the stairs leaving me alone in her room. I got up and stretched my back muscles, hearing several pops along my spine. On the side of the room, there was a window. Outside, there were grey clouds that completely blocked out the sky. There were also several ponies that were moving clouds to further create a blanket of clouds. I sighed, already seeing that we were in for a heavy rain. I walked down the stairs to find that Fluttershy was in the kitchen. She had carrots and other vegies set out, and putting the ones she cut up into and pot that was on a stove. There was a sofa that looked comfortable in the main room. I walked over to it and sat down. I sat in an upright position, much like a human would. Old habits die hard I guess. I corrected this mistake by lying down onto all fours. Fluttershy started humming a song in the kitchen while I just sat on the sofa and thought. Yesterday I was ready to kill that dragon, and now I’m just laying here as if nothing happened. I was never a violent person back home, so what caused all that anger I felt. I felt completely normal until he attacked my friends. I wasn’t even upset when he tried to kill me and Sparky. It only surfaced when he knocked Fluttershy out. That was it then. I got mad when he hurt Fluttershy. But why not the others, didn’t I care for them too? Of course I did, just not as much. I had this connection with Fluttershy that I haven’t had in a long time. I felt happy around her, but the others rarely made me smile. I was still thinking about why Fluttershy was different than the others when a bowl of soup was placed on the table in front of me. I looked over at Fluttershy to see she was looking at me silently. What was it about her? Well she is really cute. I approve of her. Stan, I don’t have time for your games. Why don’t you just go away for a while? A bolt of lightning flashed outside, followed by a thundering boom. I looked over to the window to see a curtain of water covering the window. Flashes of light on the other side gave the only indication that it wasn’t a water fall. As I stared out the window, I felt as if something was calling to me. It was odd, I hated the rain, but I felt compelled to go for a walk. I wanted to walk to the forest just outside the house. I looked back to Fluttershy and saw that she was still making food. I got up quietly and walked to the door to make my stealthy exit. Outside was wet and rainy. The dirt path slushed under my hooves as I walked to the edge of the forest. It was still there, that feeling that called to me. I walked into the forest and felt so venerable to my surrounding. There was a faded path that lead deeper into the forest that I was fallowing. The path came to a river that had fast moving water, I simply flew over it. The path countenued until it lead to a steep drop off. Lastly I came to a bridge that had seen better days. I couldn’t see the other side because of the fog, but it was calling to me. I looked in awe at the castle in front of me. it was the first thing I saw when I was transported here, had a sense of familiarity to it. It was completely demolished right now, but it still beared the sense of a home to it. The castle doors were still in desent shape and slid open with relative ease. Inside was no better that the outside. There was holes in the roof and fungus growing in the corner. That feeling was calling me deeper into the castle. The dark hallways felt cold and unwelcoming, sending shivers down my spine. I opened another set of doors to yet another hall, but this one was filled with broken windows. I walked slowly admiring all of the mostly intact ones. There was one that had managed to survive the elements and was completely intact. It depicted a stallion with a black coat and red eyes. He was surrounded by a dark blue cloud. He also had a murderous smile plastered on his face. Those cheating bitches! We’ll turn them into glue! Stan, what is this? It looks like they blamed you for creating Nightmare Moon, or even worse, you were Nightmare Moon. But that’s not true! I turned around and ran out the hall, out the castle and into the trees. I ran until I got all the way back into Pony vile. I was ready to go back to my house, but I couldn’t let them see their leader like this. I ran back to Fluttershy’s and pushed the door open and ran up the stairs. I found a bed that had green blanket on it. I jumped on and started crying my eyes out. I felt a hoof touch my shoulder and try to comfort me. I ignored it and continued to cry into the bed. They had made me into a monster. To keep the blame off of Luna, they said that I was Nightmare Moon. We don’t know that for sure. Have you read any history books since we got here? No…. Then go get one so we can be sure. It wasn’t a command as much as a suggestion, but I felt compelled to go find a history book. I took a deep breath and stopped crying. When I looked up, I saw a pair of teal eyes staring at me sadly. A gave her a weak smile back. “Are you going to be okay?” she asked sweetly. I nodded. “I will be once I find a history book.” I said. “Well, I’m sure Twilight has what you’re looking for. But you can do all that tomorrow.” She got off the bed and headed back down stairs. I followed shortly after her, sitting back on the couch waiting for her. She came over shortly with a tray of food and sat it down in front of me. “Do you, that is, if you don’t mind, want to talk about it?” I nodded. I sighed as I tried to figured out how to ask this. Be blunt. “Do you think I’m a monster?” I asked. She looked at me for a moment before answering. “No, I think you’re a hero. Why do you ask?” “when I went out, I went to the old castle in the Everfree. What I saw made me feel used and lied to. It depicted me as a monster.” I sighed. “You were gone for a long time, I was starting to think you went home. But then you ran in here and started crying. I didn’t know what was wrong, but I knew you needed somepony to comfort you.” I smiled at her. “Thank you, Fluttershy.” She had known me for maybe five days, and she was already showing me such kindness. This place was way better than any place back home. Well, maybe not Canada. We ate in silence leaving me to my thoughts. I could understand why they did it. They didn’t want their subjects to know that Luna went crazy and tried to bring about eternal night. That would really up her popularity with her subjects. Worse yet, I’ll have to tell Twilight why I want to the book. unless she already knows, she has read all the books in the Canterlot library after all. I looked into my bowl of soup, and for the first time in a long time, I missed meat. Then I remembered cupcakes. A shiver ran through my body. Nope, I don’t need meat that bad. I let out a yawn after I finished my soup. Taking this opportunity to be stupid, I reached my hoof around the other side of the couch onto Fluttershy’s shoulders. When I looked over I saw a deep red blush wash over her face. My smile widened. “Oh, umm…. I’m not really….. *squeak*” I rolled onto the floor laughing. That was so adorable. Her blush depend as I laughed my flank off. My luaughter was interrupted as a yawn came out. “Well, I’m tiered, I’ll see you later Fluttershy.” I said walking to the door. “Oh, wait…. Your not staying here?” she asked. “I hadn’t planned on it, no. Do you want me to stay?” “Oh, ummm…. That is… if you don’t mind.” Her voice dropped off at the end. I turned around and started to walk up the stairs making no comment. The bed was soft and warm, plus I didn’t even know what room was my own at home. I crawled under the covers and drifted off to sleep. Then the nightmares came. I was killing ponies left and right, using a magic that flowed around me. magic blasts desimated ponies and a flick of my hoof sent them flying, I was unstoppable. The sun sat behind the moon and I could feel the bedlam surrounding me. they all died at my hooves and it felt amazing to be able to take all of their lives so easily. Then a yellow mare stood in front of me. I tossed her to the side, but before I knew who I had thrown, it was too late. She slammed into a wall and stopped breathing. Then I woke up. I got out of bed and ran down stairs. I couldn’t breathe and I started pulling my armor off. My hooves fumbled with the straps and I barely managed to get off the armor by myself. Now that my armor was off, I was breathing normally. I kept telling myself that it was just a dream, but what if it wasn’t? what if that was a glimpse into the future. What is wrong with me? first the dragon, and now the nightmares. “I need a distraction or something. Maybe I could go help AJ with apple bucking. Or….” There was a knock at the door. I took a deep breath and tried to make myself presentable. When I opened the door, I felt as if my prayers had been answered. There atanding in the doorway, was the one and only DJ Pon3. “Look, I don’t have much time. I need somepony to fill in for one of my DJs that cancelled on me. I could really use your help right now.” She said. “Yeah, I can do it.” “Pleas! I really need your help! I can pay you and….. wait. Did you say yes?” she said. I nodded and smiled at her, she was helping me more than I was helping her. ”Great!” she grabbed my hoof and started pulling me to a carriage that was parked outside. As we flew through the sky, I couldn’t help but wonder. Where the hell did she get this thing? Two pegasi pulled the cart towards Canterlot at a breakneck pace. The moon was still high in the sky which explained why I was so tired, it was still only like three o’clock. Landing was smoother than I thought it would be, but I still filched when the wheels touched the pavement in front of some club. The bass on the speakers was turned up way to high and I could feel the beat reverberating on the street. I fallowed the DJ into the club and backstage until she showed me to a room with the name “Neon Lights” on it. Another brony I’ll have to find later after the day is over. Once Vinyl pushed the door open, I was amazed to see how big the room was. The was a sliding glass door that lead to a alcony with a hot tub. Vinyl smirked at me. “Look, your set is on in ten minutes. Any questions?” she asked. “Nope. Oh, wait. Do you want to sing with me?” i asked nonchalantly. “Sing? I’ve never sang during one of my sets before.” Her head drooped a little at this. I smiled at her as she wallowed in…. whatever ponies wallow in. “There’s a first time for everything Vinyl. Besides, with the song I have in mind, I’m putting a lot of faith in a certain random mare. Her ears perked up at this. “I guess I could do it.” She submitted. Yes, this is going to be awesome. The only thing that could make this better would be if the forth wall gets shattered by the end of the day. I walked out of the room shortly after Vinyl left. I walked up to the bar and ordered a shot from the stallion working the bar. The liquid burned going down but woke me up from my daze. I watched as the last DJ walked off the stage and Vinyl take his place to announce the next DJ. “Alright everypony lets give a round of applause for our next DJ, Midnight Rain!” I walked up onto the stage and smiled. Vinyl handed (Hoofed?) me a microphone so I could start the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo3Gl32gihM My gamble had paid off in the end. Pinkie showed up out of nowhere right before her part. I was worried for a second, but it was all for not. I went back to the room after setting the set for auto play. There, I promptly passed out.
prologueI was a typical 21 year old guy that watched a little girls television show for little girls called, My Little Pony. “Wait! Did I just fly!?”
Surprize MeNine hundred ninety-nine years and three hundred sixty-four days spent on the moon.
“Thank you.”
Dragons and BananasThe next morning was much like the one before.
