Chapter one

Or

you wake up in a room...

You know the saying goes like this, "Amnesia doesn't exist, It’s Its a cheap and lazy storytelling device". I can tell you now, thats bullshit. waking up in a cell is not the best place to start a story. but its my story, and I'm going to tell it.

The cold cobbled walls, slick with condensation. the hair on my back standing at attention. a dull pain making its way from my foot to my head and back again. My eyes finally open. taking a brief look around, I try to move my arms. feeling the weight that's attached to them, almost weighing them down. I notice the sunlight pouring in from a barred opening in the wall.

as I scrambled towards it, the jangling of the chains alerted the guard from it's lazy slumber. hearing something coming forth, it simply tapped the cell door with a solid lump. "I suppose you'll be wanting to get out?" It spoke.

its voice slightly effeminate, and not at all displeasing to the ears. I simply sat down and looked at the hazy shape of grey and gold in confusion.

finally, i decided to speak. "Not really, No" needless to say, The haze simply watched me for a brief moment.

As the shape watched me attempt to slip out of the chains. It couldn't help but wonder why I said no.

"I have to report this," The shape finally stood, then with a chuckle "Don't go anywhere" The voice echoed from the dark corridors.

considering the amount of time it would take for a report to be made. I simply started to think.

I tried to come up with answers to questions like... well

where the fuck am i?

why is everything so fucking dark?

where did I learn such vulgar language?

The biggest question is this, I knew how to speak and how to move like whatever I am is supposed to.

so who am I?

Putting all these thoughts aside, I quickly jumped up to the hole in the wall. Feeling sunlight upon my face for what I think was the first time made me think of something else. A memory.

a random memory of a little boy playing in the mud and sunshine, a little boy without a care in the world.

And then it started to rain. I blinked twice for a moment.

The memory was over and all I had left was a silent tear trickling down my face.

As per usual I went back to my little state of confusion, Humming a little tune whilst hearing the clip-clop of hooves grow ever closer to my cell.

Instead of calling out or anything like that, I simply continued to wait.

"oh, your back" I said with a smile. Something was slid into the cell. A small grey case.

I picked up the strange case then cast the shape a look. "Open it then" the voice said.

I did as asked and opened the case. finally something I recognized.

Glasses.

I wore glasses.

Needless to say I quickly put them on my face and then took another look at my captors. The Grey shape shot me a small smile.

"Wondered why everything was fuzzy" I chuckled before looking at the much taller, white figure standing beside her.

She looked at me for a moment as I noticed a bruise on the side of her body.

"Well?" the voice came from her. "do you have anything to say for yourself, what ever you are?"

I scratched my head for a brief moment, dragging down a lock of hair. Looking at the offending part of me, I lifted it up.

"Ginger....Interesting" I then heard a throat clear.

As I looked at the creatures in front of the cell, I could only wonder what it is I had done.

a flash of pain seemed to shoot through my head for a brief moment,

"I didn't do that did I?" I spoke softly as I pointed to the bruise.

the white creature nodded. "how?"

they both looked at me with confusion and slight anger.

"You crashed through the window of the throne room, sending shards of glass everywhere and nearly killed my student!" the white one shouted.

"I don't remember that!" I shouted back Jumping to my feet, I made my way to the iron bars of the cell door.

"I don't remember any of that" another wave of pain, only coming from what appeared to be a re-opened wound on my arm.

As the blood slowly dripped from my arm, I watched as the small grey being run out for a doctor.

Letting out a deep sigh the larger one then sat down. "What are you?"

I blinked. "Human, I think... yourself?"

she finally smiled. "Alicorn" she answered as she thought about her next question.

"interesting..." It took me a whole three minutes to realize what she was

"your a Pony... a talking, magical, mythological being" I watched as her face went through a stage of shock.

As a doctor arrived and finally set about fixing my arm, I simply continued to revolve questions. "so where am I?"

"You're in canterlot castle dungeons" she stated

"I meant the planet, country, county, land or whatever" I deadpanned. She took in the question and then shot me dead-pannedk of her own.

"your rather rude you know" she said with a dead-panned look

hanging my head slightly, I had only two options

1) Bitch and complain that I'm in an unknown location, can't get home, and don't even remember my name.

or

2) Apologize and try to explain the situation I'm in.

You could probably guess which one I went with....

Option 3, scratch my head and simply nod. "Yeah, I think its just how I am"

I looked at her for a moment, seeing the smile growing on her face.

"look, sorry... I'm still getting used to all this" I spoke as she raised a hoof for a moment.

then with an apologetic tone of voice, "you'll have to stay down here for a little bit longer until...well, until everything is sorted"

she stated. her smile until... well peaceful.

"so what shall I do in the mean time?"

"the guard here," she tapped the pony next her on the shoulder. "should return your other belongings to you"

with that, the guard in question scuttled off to no-where in particular

As the white Alicorn sat herself down on the cobbled stone floor, a shiver went up her spine.

quickly regaining her composure, she huffed slightly. "to answer your question, You are in Equestria, the land of the Ponies. now will you answer some of mine?"

"...pass" she looked confused for a moment.

"what do you mean, Pass?" she asked.

"I mean, I cant answer questions i won't know the answers to"

She simply blinked, then for a brief moment, fell into a deep thought.

as she did this, the gaurd finally came back. "here's your stuff, creature" the guard had a slight smile on her face.

I began to rummage through the bag in search of clues. My hand then wrapped around something, it felt leathery, and had engraved steel attached to it. I pulled it out slowly.

"hm, its a wallet" I uttered. Celestia quickly returned to the normal plane of existance.

I opened the wallet and saw several cards. pulling each one out, I saw they had the same name attached to them.

"Who ever this Person is, they are going to be so angry with me" I huffed.

Celestia took a look at one of the cards, It was a form of photo Identification.

she then smiled. "Guard, let him out... you are to accompany us to my tea room"

The guard opened the caged door and unlocked the chains. "Come along creature" she smiled.

I had already gotten used to the word being used.

"Of course, you lead and I'll follow" I smiled back.

The corridors were long and quiet... save for the gasps and looks of shock I received from maids and servants. I noticed other guards looking on edge, wary that I might stage another apparant attack again.

in the end, I simply sighed. "How long is this going to take then Celestia?" I asked as I walked beside her.

"just through here" she chuckled lightly.

She then opened a door, leading to a small room.

I could smell the lavender in the air.

Sitting at the table were two other alicorns. "Luna, could you pass the sugar?" One asked.

"Of course, Twilight" I then watched as a pot was encased in an ethereal midnight glow.

I scratched my head for a moment. Celestia gave another light chuckle. "Hello girls"

Luna looked up and saw me standing there "Sister, why is the thing that landed on you out of its cell?"

"You know... I was going to ask her the same question" I answered.
