The Crusaders Find Their Calling
Applebloom finds her calling
Applebloom is walking down a path, running next to the Everfree Forest. She likes to trot on down down here whenever she is sad. This time was no different, she had just failed to get a cutie mark in eating cake.
"Aww shucks, I really thawt this was gunna be the one fer sure." she said to herself. She flipped her pink mane and kept walking in sadness. As she walked along the path she began to get angrier and angrier. Eventually growing so angry, that she bucked a tree, and it left two hoof marks. But not even a good ol' buck could calm her down.
As she continued on she saw something on the road in the distance. It looked like a small animal, and definitely wasn't a pony, but at this time it was only a blob. She trotted forward and as she got closer, she noticed whatever it was wasn't moving. She grew worried that the animal might be hurt and started to gallop towards it as fast as her stumpy little legs could take her. She reached the animal and was immediately saddened.
In front of her lay a squirrel, squashed by what must have been a wagon wheel. It must have happened recently, as the blood was still oozing out of its mouth, and had not yet clotted. As she looked at the creature she felt something in the back of her head. This tugging feeling, whatever it was, was not uncomfortable but more, unnerving. Applebloom dismisses it as sadness for the animal. But yet this feeling, it was telling her to take it home. Without knowing why, she grabs a cloth out of her saddlebag, and wraps the animal up. Taking care to cover the mouth and wound, so the blood didn't get in her bag.
She reaches the apple family's humble abode, and walks inside. She is greeted by the smell of apple pie, and knows Granny Smith must be making a little something for AJ and Mac, for when they are done bucking the apples for the day. She walks into the kitchen, and sees a butchers knife Granny must have been using earlier. Applebloom takes the knife without Granny noticing and heads down towards the basement. She opens up a table from when they held the apple family reunion, and lays some old newspapers on it.
Applebloom lay the animal on it back, and took a good hard look at it. "What am I doin?" She said to herself. "This is wrong, and I shouldn't do this!" she says. But that feeling in her head was now a ringing, and she knew she had to do this.
She took the razor sharp knife, and began a cut from the chin to the lower stomach. She took out the organs one by one. The lungs, the heart, etc etc. As she took them out she inspected each one closely, looking at it from all angles. As she reached the intestines, she cut them open as well. She saw the contents of its last meal, but couldn't make out what it was. She finished with the organs, and what was left in front of her was an empty, bloody, carcass of what used to be friendly little critter. She once again took a last look at the animal and began randomly slashing and stabbing. By the end you couldn't even tell that the body was a squirrel.
She looks at the mess shes made, blood is everywhere. She can see plenty of it on her hooves, and licks it off. It is a sweet taste, and it satisfies her for some reason. Applebloom wraps up all the parts in newspaper, and throws them in a trash bag. She throws the bag into the bin in the basement. By instinct she looks at her flank, and notices something she has never seen before, a cutie mark. It is a bloody knife, and she decides that when everyone asks shell say its a cooking cutie mark. She smiles to herself and says "I think I've found my calling"
