The rain was always so peaceful for me, it is always so calming. As a young filly in Baltimare I would just sit in my room on the second floor of my old home and just listen to the light tapping made by the rain drops on my window as I read. The light tapping and sight of the water droplets going down the glass was so mesmerizing. It still is, even miles from home and my usual window. A little room at one of the nice hotels in Canterlot is my current dwelling. At least until I either decided to leave of the owner of this hotel decides to hire another musical act for the little restaurant on the first floor. The job was pretty simple: I sing at the restaurant every other night and get paid and get a free room for as long as I sing here.
I don't know why, but I've always felt at home on the stage. Singing at least, don't ask me to speak in front of a crowd. I despise social situations, anything that involves talking with most ponies. I'm fine with some, for example: most of my relatives have an easy time talking to me. However when a waiter or waitress asks me for my order at any eating establishment: I freeze up almost instantly and forget whatever I was planning to order.
I hum to the fairly light tune to myself. It is my favorite song: "Blue Moon" the author of had some very strange name that I am always forgetting. The heavy rain outside made looking out onto the street impossible. The water just flowed down my window as if a hose had been set to full blast and aimed at the glass. I smile to myself in the peace of my musical tune and the mesmerizing streams of water that flowed down the glass. I looked towards my small suitcase near the bed and open it with a little magical touch. Inside my many little books rest, one on the top of neatly organized stacks comes flying out.
I mutter to myself "Ah I love the rain." as I see the cover of the book.
'Heavy Rain'

A little ways away in the central castle, to my unknowing of course, another pony sat about enjoying the rain.
"Woona?" Celestia called from bedroom doorway in a teasing voice.
Luna chuckles from her bed. "What is it, 'Tia?" Luna asks with a small cup of coffee floating near by.
Celestia enters with something floating behind her. A very small red box with a dark blue ribbon wrapped around it. A broad smile is plastered on her face as she moves the present to just within Luna's grasp. "Merry Hearth's Warming Eve" she says with the same wide smile.
Luna takes the present a large smile now forming upon her face. "You know I wasn't expecting anything." she says as she sips at her coffee. A cold wind blew open one of the loosely shut windows. A barrage of water droplets come storming in and dampen the floor before Luna forcibly closes it. "Most wonderful night of the year and its storming." Luna says with a frown as she looks at the damp floor. A towel floats from the bathroom and lays down on the floor.
Celestia seems a tad over excited. "Open your present now." She says with a giggle.
Luna quickly rips open the package to find a smaller wooden box. She opened the smaller box as quickly s she had ripped the wrapping apart. Inside was a small green and black ticket to a dinner and show happening tomorrow at six in the evening. It was at one of the fancier hotel restaurants in Canterlot generally plagued by the rich and snobby as most things in Canterlot seem to be. Luna gasps as she reads the ticket. "Thank you, sis!" She screams in a high pitched squeal. Her eyes wide with excitement as she clings to the ticket. Luna tends to love most styles of clssical or just slow-tempo music.
Celestia smiles at her sister and simply says "I'm going to assume you like that gift." She says as Luna pounces on her with a giant and tight hug.

Mist Flicker warmed up her lungs. "may, me, my, mo, mooooo". She sighed then took a deep breath and repeated "May, me, my, mo, mooooo". She sighed again and as she took in another breath there was a knock on the door.
A voice came through the door. "Room service."
I smile as I remember the menu I had ordered off just thirty minutes ago. A glorious salad and ranch dressing awaited me beyond the elaborate wooden door. I quickly hop off my little perch on the comfy queen sized bed. Stirring the purple silk covers as I hoped down, I quickly scurry to the door and open it with a smile on my face. A young look stallion appears and quickly becomes anxious as he sees me. "I...I ummmm....Room service?" He says in a quizzical tone, frozen. A small silver platter with my delicious looking salad was on his back. He was about my height and unlike me with my brown-yellow skin tone he had a more gray-blue sorta tone. His mane was neat and combed like his well kept tail. He wore a red and black tux to signify his place among the hotel staff.
I gesture a hoof inwards towards the bed. "Just set it down by the bed." I say with a smile. Feeling my own social anxiety meter go up. The young stallion quickly comes in and sets the small platter down on a dresser/table at the foot of the bed. He blushes as I give him a few bits as a tip. "Thank you." I say as he's ready to leave.
His voice cracks as he leaves. "Ummm thank you, ma'aaam" he says turning into a filly sounding stallion for a brief second. He turns slightly to look back at me as he leaves and says "Ummmmm I'm Quick Silver, by the way."
I smile and nervously just say my name "Mist Flicker." Almost like a flicker on it's own really. In the same way a dying light bulb flickers my voice decided to flicker with that quick burst of two words.
The two of us exchange a smile before some pony from down the hall calls for Quick Silver's assistance.
