Ivory and Ebony

Chapter One: Missing

Liam had finally flown over the coast of West Africa. He’d never been to his ancestor’s home. It was breathtaking but he didn’t care. His 3ds was almost out of battery and there were no sockets on the plane. He found a minecraft guide in his backpack. He began to read. He fell asleep until the flight attendant called out “5 minutes till landing”

His dad was in the mens room and his mom didn’t come. He told the flight attendant who flaunted her New York accent“Shoo-ah”

His baba came out of the restroom and they grabbed their luggage. They headed for the hotel Azalai to set their luggage down. After that, they took a cab to the Nabooti African museum. The museum had ancient warrior masks, wooden talismans, and a large totem.

When they left the museum they had some Jollof rice and beef for dinner. The next morning his baba went missing. The museum curator’s daughter  told Liam about the villain lurking close to different monuments. The curator’s daughter, Blair, said she would accompany him. A boy living nearby named Aaron said he knew those places like the back of his hand. They needed a plane and Aaron’s mother, Abebe, was a pilot.

First they traveled to the Mountains Of the Moon.

Chapter Two: Moons

When they arrived at the mountains, they found a gruff man who handed Liam an envelope. Liam opened it and it read:

You need the fruit and beat him

“I wonder what that means” Liam thought. Liam had to dodge a goat as he waded across the pond. There was a waterfall above him as he crossed it.

He needed to climb up a nearby boulder .  It was so tall, he got a goat to ram him

up onto it. From there, he climbed onto a nearby treetop. From there he jumped onto the mountain’s first (bottom) layer. A woman with mahogany skin asked him to pick an Opuntia fruit for her. He found a bunch of wood planks that would make stairs. He climbed up the stairs, and picked the fruit. The woman suddenly disappeared.  He shrugged it off. He  continued to climb the mountain and he found an elderly man. He heard a voice saying get in the cave. He asked the man to pass, but the man said “Only if you beat me in mancala” Liam took the challenge. He beat the old man in less than six moves. When Liam entered the cave, it was suddenly chilly. He found a gem in the back of the cave and next to it was a note saying:

To begin round two, you’ll need a turban of blue.

What?

He slid down the waterfall. The chill of the cool water wiped the beads of sweat from his squiggly eyebrows. He walked up to Ms. Abebe and she gave him a towel. He remembered he had a couple dollars. They flew to the museum. Nearby there was a trading post. He gave the man 10$ for the turban. They traveled to Giza. Blair was Nubian, so she put on the turban and walked over to the guards.

They gave her a shovel with a Pietro Bergamo’s name on it. Blair took out her cell-phone and called a number. The man who excavated the dig went to get his phone. The guards left. Blair dug in Pietro’s bag. She found a moonstone. At the top of the sphinx they worked on was a hole the size of the stone. She climbed up stairs and placed the stone in the hole. The door at the front of the sphinx opened.

She entered and learned there were many puzzles facing her. She worked her way through many chambers, and mazes. Finally, she reached a secret tomb. There were hieroglyphs that showed a pharaoh holding a jackal, a falcon, a baboon, and an ibis. She found switches that allowed her to drop each of those (in order) onto the statue’s hands. The statue’s mouth opened and a sarcophagus came out. It opened revealing a mummy holding a gem and on his stomach there was a sign stating:

If you reach level three you need to fulfil the prophecy

She found a passage allowing her to exit. She left the moonstone inside so nobody could enter. She gave Liam the gem and the note.

Ms.Abebe flew them to the Blue Nile Falls.

Falling For You

Aaron said it was his turn to help. He climbed up a mountain to find an Egyptian Blue Lily. He got it and climbed back down. He crossed a small pond and asked a woman what was wrong. Her name was Akissi. Akissi said that she needed someone to help her carry her load across one cliff to the other. She had a fox, a chicken, and chicken feed. He brought the chicken over first. Then, he brought over the feed. He took back the chicken and brought the fox. Then he brought back the chicken.

She told him thank you and about the cave behind the waterfall.

He climbed up the rocks and found a cave behind the waterfall. He entered the cave. He climbed on top of stalactites and over to a purple gem and a note. Aaron read:

If you want to get to level four use your treasures once more

He gave the note to Liam. Ms. Abebe flew them to the Kaya forests.

   3 in One

Blair jumped on the hut and into the trees. She found a gold nugget.  She jumped down and found a shell. She placed the opuntia fruit 5 feet away from it and the turtle moved to eat it. There was a small hole under where the turtle slept at. Ms. Abebe dug. She hit an Ebony Elephant. A ghost of an african warrior asked Blair to find a fingo. They flew back to the trading post by the museum and traded the Elephant for the Fingo. When they returned to the Kaya Forests, Blair gave the ghost the Fingo. His wife, a majestic queen with jet black hair and chocolate colored skin, arose from her grave, and gave Blair a green gem with a note reading:

A picture is worth one of these

She gave Liam the Note and the gem. They flew to the  trading post. They traded the gold nugget for a camera.

Safari at Sundown

They flew to a Safari. A grown man was crying. His name was Zeke. He owned Big Zeke’s Safari. He needed  someone  to take pictures for advertising his company. The kids took many photos of different animals. He thanked them and gave them a hard-hat. Zeke also invited them to the Internet Cafe nearby. Everyone had some lemonade and some doro-wot .
