Chapters The pleasant afternoon weather made Sweet Apple Acres all the more appealing to the eye with Celestia’s sunlight shining down, bathing the rows upon rows of apple trees with a pleasant effect of the sunlight being reflected in some of the fully grown apples waiting to be picked, almost making them look shined to a polish.
To Cheerilee it was still odd to see apples that you could literally see your reflection in to begin with but Big Macintosh had told her it was just the Apple family way of growing them that gave them such a healthy look.
The teacher just smiled at the familiar farm and the large red house that she was walking to, avoiding going through the fields and instead taking the longer path. It might have been longer but the trouser suit she wore to work did not suit walking through muddy fields especially not with the high heels that she wore to complete the outfit. Cheerilee did not like high heels much to begin with, finding them awkward and clumsy, but they helped to make her look professional and keep parents from breathing down her neck.
“Not that I can blame them I suppose,” the fuschia mare conceded as she walked through the front gate, “their foals are very important to them as they should be.” She said to herself as she walked to the back door and pushed it open. She hadn’t gone four paces before she heard Applejack and Spike in the other room.
She had almost made it to the stairs when she heard what they were talking about.
“I slept with Rarity last weekend, and then Twilight and Rarity Monday night. According to Twilight, losing my virginity activated my body’s lust drive. She and Zecora filled Rarity and me in on the details earlier today. Then I came here to talk to you…”
Cheerilee paused at that, her eyes going wide as saucers. Could Spike be talking about making a herd? Cheerilee had of course watched the young drake grow up over the years but through all that she had never seen his attentions focused on another mare besides from the fashionista of his dreams Rarity. To be talking about making a herd, even after sleeping with Rarity…
Cheerilee’s brain struggled to catch up with being blindsided like that so that she almost missed Applejack cutting Spike off and responding to him.
“Get some food in you, it’ll help you think. Now, the way I figure it, you’re worried about what others will think, ain’t that right?”
“Yeah, I mean, I’m used to the weird looks by now, and I don’t get them nearly as often. But running around town hoarding women, seems like the kind of thing to off-put our friends and neighbors, you know?”
“I wouldn’t complain,” Cheerilee whispered to herself with a grin, “a mighty dragon swooping in to take mares for his own sounds very hot… or maybe in my case a nice strong stallion.” She grinned at the thought of Big Mac having a herd.
“Well, I’m happy to tell you that you won’t have to worry about that too much. After all, Cheerilee has been trying to organize a herd for Big Mac for a month now. It’s kind of funny actually, Mac ain’t exactly the driving force, most the time he comes home exhausted after being dragged around all day.”
Cheerilee couldn’t help but agree with that. It was true, she did want Big Macintosh to have a herd; polygamy was relatively accepted in Equestria as was the idea of having a harem though some still had issues with it on a matter of principle. The school teacher couldn’t pretend that to her it was a very erotic idea, the idea of being part of Big Mac’s herd, one of his many mates.
The two had been going steady for a while. Big Mac seemed a little puzzled. “Eeyup?” He replied, sounding almost unsure of his own answer considering the strange and unprompted question.
Cheerilee took a deep breath for what she was about to suggest. “Haveyoueverthoughtaboutpossiblyputtingaherdtogether?” Cheerilee spoke far too quickly out of her nervousness. Big Mac’s utterly baffled expression might have been funny if she wasn’t so worried about what his response would be once he could understand her again.
“What?” He asked. “Slow down a bit dear.” He reassured her, gently hugging her closer to try and calm her down. Cheerilee appreciatively snuggled backwards into his hug before she tried to talk again, taking almost two minutes before she trusted her own voice.
“Okay. I’m calm, I’m together.” Cheerilee whispered, as much to herself as Big Mac before she spoke again. “I was just, thinking, no wondering, no thinkin- oh buck it, Big Mac I wanted to know if you had ever thought about forming a herd for yourself!” She slapped her hand over her mouth as she realised she’d spoken far louder than she meant.
At first the red stallion looked like he was about to ask what she meant by a herd before it clicked in his mind. It was rather impressive that she could still see the blush even under that dark red coat of his and across her chest she could feel him nervously playing with his fingers.
“Nope.” He responded simply. Something very odd happened though as Cheerilee looked at Big Mac: the stallion was not hard to read after she had spent so much time as both his friend and his marefriend, an open book might describe him pretty well, which made it all the more odd that Cheerilee realised she couldn’t tell from his face whether he was telling the truth or not.
“Really?” She asked with an unintentionally eager voice. Truth be told after looking up a bit more on how herds worked and were viewed it had seemed to her at least like it was every stallions dream, and more than a few mares herself included found the idea to be a very sexy and erotic one.
“Nope.” Big Mac repeated simply.
Cheerilee debated whether or not to continue the train of thought before Big Mac spoke again and interrupted. “Why do you ask sugarcube?”
“It’s nothing honey. Just something I found in a book, forget I asked.” She reassured him while her brain screamed at her to carry on the topic while her heart told her to respect Big Mac and not press him. “Goodnight sweetie.”
“Goodnight.” Big Mac mumbled to her with a peck on her cheek before he nuzzled into her mane and moments later the gentle deep breathing confirmed he was asleep.
Cheerilee hadn’t brought the subject up again since that night. As she made her way upstairs to leave Spike and Applejack to their discussion she couldn’t help but think it had probably been the wisest call she could’ve made, what if she had pressed the topic and made Big Mac think she was some promiscuous floozy? No. She couldn’t have dealt with him thinking that, herd or not she loved Big Mac and she wouldn’t do anything to risk losing him.
That was what she told herself whenever she dragged Big Mac to see as many of her friends in one day as possible in the hopes that he might warm to some of them and by extension the idea of a herd. It seemed that Applejack wasn’t as oblivious as her brother though if she was aware of her doing it.
“Bit more subtle from now on maybe Cheerilee.” She whispered to herself before she arrived at the room she and Big Macintosh shared whenever she stayed at Sweet Apple Acres. She was slightly disappointed but not at all surprised that the room was empty, it would’ve been very unlike Big Mac to be sitting in his room when there was surely farm work to be done.
Shrugging her bag off of her shoulders Cheerilee unzipped the main part of the bag and quickly pulled out a change of clothes. The teacher liked to keep herself in good shape and had done even before she had gotten together with Big Mac and a trouser suit was most certainly not the type of clothes for farm work.
As she pulled the suit off she took a moment as always to check herself in the full length mirror; she liked to think she was a good looking mare, she certainly didn’t lack for breast size or a nice tight flank but she was always very critical of herself and would see signs of age that most wouldn’t care about or even notice.

She left her suit on the bed when she found that, bizarrely, the closet was locked. Maybe Big Mac had left it locked by mistake? But then why would he need to lock it to begin with? She ignored it with a shrug and headed out to the apple fields.
As she walked through the orchard looking for Big Mac her mind continued to wander about thoughts of being part of a herd. She didn’t know why it was so appealing, to belong to a strong stallion with other mates of his, to be his property and serve him and love him whenever he pleased. Even to herself she couldn’t quite explain it, she had always enjoyed being submissive to Big Mac in the bedroom but that had been very limited, mostly because Big Mac was too much of a sweetheart to truly see himself dominating her in anyway.

His smile said it all about his adoration of her as in one hand he held a basket of apples. “Love the outfit.” Big Mac still didn’t speak as much as other stallions even around Cheerilee but he always said enough for her.
“Thanks, I thought you’d like it.” She smiled as she did a little twirl for him in her farm girl get up, pleased that it looked nice to him. “Figured even such a strong stallion needs a mare’s touch to the work every now and again.” She added as she marched up to one of the apple trees.
How the Apple family were able to simply kick these trees to make the apples fall down was something that Cheerilee had never been able to comprehend and yet as she watched Big Mac he barely seemed to put any effort into it as his boot connected with the trunk, shook the entire tree and caused a cascade of apples into the baskets below it. The mare sighed and settled for carrying the baskets, which were heavy enough by themselves, and made a note to ask Applejack just how in Equestria they did it.
One advantage though was that, with the baskets slowing her down, it gave her time to admire her coltfriends muscular form, thanking Celestia for the warm day making Big Mac leave his shirt undone.
“Anything planned today dear?” Cheerilee asked as they loaded the baskets into a cart to take into down later on. How in Equestria anyone was supposed to pull it was something Cheerilee didn’t bother to ask, knowing all about Big Mac’s strength first hand.
“Eeyup.” Big Mac replied simply.
“Oh? I’m surprised, you usually don’t plan ahead. Mind letting a mare in on it?” She asked, genuinely surprised.
Big Mac didn’t answer and simply placed the last of the baskets into the cart and began the walk back up to the farmhouse, his boots crunching on the gravel and reminding just how big and heavy the stallion was.
“What is it, did I say something?” Cheerilee asked with worry. “Look dear if it’s not something you want to share then you don’t need to but please don’t lock me out like that, just say that you can’t tell me,” she continued as they made their way to the front gate, “or at least just tell me it’s private or a family-”
She yelped as Big Mac turned and gripped her tail. She blushed furiously, a pony’s tail wasn’t something you just gripped casually and even if you were in a relationship it was usually the sort of thing you kept from prying eyes.
“Dear what are-”
“Master.”
She paused, all movement frozen as she looked at Big Mac. Did she hear that right?
“What?”
She let out an “eep” as he gave a gentle tug to her tail.
“Master. That is what is expected from a herd.” His face was as stoic as always but there was a little undertone of authority in his voice or at least as much as Big Mac ever used.
Cheerilee felt her heart practically explode. Was he really going through with this? He looked okay with it in his face, she felt she would’ve been able to tell if he was uncomfortable and just doing it for her but still she had to check.
“Are you sure you’re okay with this dear?” She whispered as she leaned in to peck him on the cheek. “I mean it’s so hot and you sound so sexy and I can’t wait to be calling you- EEP!” She yelped again as his hand gripped her flank tightly.
“Master.” He repeated firmly. “Upstairs, in the closet, get changed.” It didn’t sound like an order the way he said it but the way he had been acting made it obvious anyway. Cheerilee nodded but then caught herself.
“Yes master.” She replied, a huge grin on her face as she finally got to say that and made her way upstairs, already feeling her marehood getting wet at this turn of events. She could barely keep herself walking straight as she proceeded to their shared room, finding that the closet had been left unlocked this time.
“By Celestia…” She breathed out as she saw what Big Mac had for her. It at least now made sense why he had kept it locked, if his sisters or Granny Smith saw this it would’ve probably led to awkward questions.
It seemed that the two had thought alike that Cheerilee looked good in farm attire. Big Mac however had taken it far further than Cheerilee had dared for risk of making him or others uncomfortable; the denim short shorts were so small on her they made her feel like she was wearing underwear more than anything, and she was sure more of her flank was exposed by them than was hidden. The flannel chest shirt similarly was very small, to the point that she actually had to struggle to button it and even once she had her breasts were threatening to pop the buttons off and expose her.
As a last touch she removed her bra and panties and replaced them in her bag, after all Big Mac hadn’t left her any and he had told her to change into what was in the closet, and she would be more than happy to obey her new master. As she organised the bed and picked any stray clothes off the floor it again entered her mind the question of what had motivated Big Mac to suddenly change his tune on the whole idea of having a herd? Would he move fast with picking other mares? Would he even or would he just want her and treat her as a one pony herd?
Whatever he did though, she knew she’d be happy. She respected Big Mac as much as she loved him and had no doubt that he was the same way with her.
“Sugarcube?” Big Mac’s voice made excitement buzz through her as she practically dashed to the front hallway to meet her coltfriend and now her master. Sure enough he had just closed the door behind him and though she could hardly have failed to notice it before with him now being her master she couldn’t help but notice just how bigger than her he was.
As soon as she reached him he reached over and pulled her to him for a deep, passionate kiss. Cheerilee hummed into the kiss at how he had pulled her over to him, not necessarily rough but in a way that clearly told her that refusing was not an option.
Still though it was pleasing to see that Big Mac’s kisses still felt the same with the same loving tenderness and passion that he always displayed whenever the two of them got to kiss, different circumstances beside considering her attire and new position, and clearly it was one thing that he didn’t plan on changing.
“In the living room.” He quietly ordered her as they broke the kiss, giving her a nice swat on the flank as she walked away sending a moan through the teacher and a swish of her tail.
In the living room Cheerilee waited for her master to reappear since he hadn’t followed her and instead had proceeded into the kitchen. While she waited she looked over the mantelpiece at the various framed pictures dotting it.
She smiled at one in particular with her sitting on Big Mac’s lap on a bench at Sweet Apple Acres while Applejack stood beside the bench, Granny Smith had her rocking chair next to it and young Applebloom was reclining on a branch of the tree behind it. It was a simple picture otherwise, just them smiling happily at the camera but it had been very important to her and she hoped for Big Mac; the picture had been taken after she had suggested the herd then promptly dropped the subject and yet in the picture there was no awkwardness or doubt in Big Mac’s face nor in hers.
It had been insisted on by Big Mac that they all be in the picture together. His own way of making her part of the family. Her heart still fluttered at that idea of not just being Big Mac’s marefriend but how the others had totally accepted her and treated her like one of their own.
She heard Big Mac’s footfalls behind her but didn’t turn, waiting for him to either order her to do so or to take initiative himself. She sighed in happiness as she felt him do the latter and cup her breasts with his hands in remarkably gentle fashion for such a giant of a stallion.
“On your knees dear. In front of the couch.” Even speaking in the same tone he always did with her it aroused her to hear him ordering her around. “Well you dragged me ‘around town to try and hook me up with other mares.” He reminded her much to the teachers slight embarrassment. “I didn’t forget.” With that he turned the paper pad round and showed on it the names of every mare that Cheerilee had tried to subtly introduce Big Mac to plus a few extra names.
Cheerilee blushed. “Was I that obvious?” She asked before returning to her pleasuring of Big Mac.
“Very.” Big Mac confirmed bluntly. “But I need to think about it; I know you want this herd Cheerilee and I do too, now that I’ve had time to think, but I need to want more than just a mare to rut. There needs to be something there, I’m never gonna feel about another mare the way I feel about you but I think it’s only right there be more to it than just friends with benefits.”
Cheerilee couldn’t help but agree there. Arousing as it was to think of multiple partners she couldn’t quite envision Big Mac just taking any random mare he found attractive and bringing her to their bed.
Cheerilee quickly had a mental image of Big Mac as a king with her as his favorite mistress and other mares at his beck and call. An arousing image but also amusing to think on, since she was fairly certain Big Mac would’ve rather been prevented from working the farm ever again.

It was going to be an interesting undertaking that was for sure. Whether it worked out or not Cheerilee could tell that she and Big Mac would always stay together and that was more than enough for her.

“Nope.” She answered again but couldn’t keep it up and burst into giggles as Big Mac lead the two of them up the stairs. “I love you dear.” She whispered and pressed a kiss to his cheek as the two of them walked into the bedroom together.
Big Mac smiled and leaned in to plant a kiss of his own on her cheek. “I love you too sugarcube.” He whispered back as they closed the door and headed for the bed for the first time under their new arrangement.

The rising of Celestia’s sun signalled the beginning of a new day as the sunlight peeked through the only mostly drawn curtains of Cheerilee and Big Macintosh’s bedroom. The mare herself smiled as the sun on her closed eyes awoke her and she became aware of Big Mac’s arms wrapped around her possessively.
Weekends were a luxury for a teacher like Cheerilee. Yes there would be work to mark and lessons to plan out but the well organised mare managed to do most of that in what little free time the weekdays afforded her anyway, leaving her to actually be able to enjoy herself most weekends as long as she kept on schedule.
Of course she expected she would be quite busy this weekend though not in the same way.
She enjoyed the warmth and comfort of Big Mac holding her close for a few more minutes before she turned herself around and gently turned his handsome face to hers to press a loving kiss to his lips. Almost immediately the red stallion was returning it and his hands had lowered to caress and squeeze her hips, rubbing along her cutie mark every now and then.
“Morning sugarcube.” He said with a happy smile on his face.
“Good morning master.” Cheerilee replied back as she pressed another kiss to his cheek and wiggled her hips for his hands.
Big Mac almost looked surprised. “We’re still okay then? You’re still sure about this?” He asked without any trace of the more dominant Big Mac from last night.
“Absolutely. As long as you want it too and you’re sure that you’ll be comfortable?” She asked but giggled at the raised eyebrow from Big Mac. “Okay I guess that might’ve been a bit of an obvious answer but we should always check we’re both comfortable.”
“Here here.” Big Mac agreed as he threw the covers off and stood up from the bed, smirking as Cheerilee quickly gave a squeeze on his flank. “Got any plans for today?” He asked as he looked around for his shirt.
Cheerilee smiled at how similar it all was. Even though she wanted this new way of thinking and relationship it filled her with joy to know that little things like this, the playful waking up in the morning and little things would stay the same. “Actually I’ve got a meeting at the spa with an old friend.” She said as she too got out of the bed. “We haven’t seen each other for so long and she and her husband are in town for a few weeks.”
“Why Ponyville?” Big Mac asked.
“Well is it really so bad?” Cheerilee asked sarcastically.
“Nope. Just seems an odd place for a holiday.” He said honestly as he pulled on a white muscle shirt he had brought with him to go with his jeans. “Most folks save for somewhere like Fillydelphia or Canterlot or some other big city.”
Cheerilee smiled at that as she remembered her friend’s words about big cities. “Actually they’re coming from Canterlot to stay here for a few weeks, some peace and quiet away from the bustle of the capital you know?” She said as she picked out a simple white t-shirt and black jeans for herself.
“So, how long before you have to meet them?”
“I’m meeting them at the spa in about two hours, why do you a-” Cheerilee cut herself off with a moan as she felt Big Mac’s hands on her, one cupping a breast and the other trailing down to squeeze her flank.
“Because that leaves me enough time to enjoy what’s mine.” He purred into her ear sending a shiver through the mare as he spoke of her like property, the hand on her flank slipping between her legs to rub against her rapidly dampening marehood.

“Fine, fine, I’ll stop asking.” The model unicorn promised, her Prance accent occasionally slipping into her voice. “But still you must admit my dear, it is a little hard to believe.”
“You’re telling me, I honestly thought I’d got way too far into a fantasy when he told me.” Cheerilee admitted.
“And you’re sure that it isn’t?”
“Well if this has all been a fantasy I think it’s reached the point of hallucination by now.”

“You have a very strange idea of cleanliness Fleur, has anyone told you?” Cheerilee noted as the two cleaned off enough of the mud from themselves to make for the showers.
“No. They usually have other things to tell me.” The unicorn emphasised what she meant by choosing that moment to untie and shrug off her towel and waltz into the showers, swinging her hips far more than was necessary.
Cheerilee gulped. “Ah the old pub, it has been far too long since I got to drink outside of a fancy restaurant without attracting comments about my marriage.” Fleur said with a little annoyance in her voice. “Who is running it now my dear?”
“Berry Punch inherited it after Frappato retired.” Cheerilee told her. “Berry has been running it so well you’d never know her Dad ever retired.” The teacher said with an almost proud look as she turned off the shower and waited for Fleur to finish washing her mane for about the third time.
“It will be nice to see it again.” The unicorn agreed as she finally finished washing her hair. “Let us go get ourselves completely drunk!” The unicorn declared with a proud pose before moving on, Cheerilee following after storing that image of Fleur posing proudly with a hand on one hip in her brain.

“Eeyup. For the hundredth time.” Big Mac told his sibling as he pulled along a wagon full of apple crates toward the town of Ponyville with no visible effort while Applebloom checked the clipboard she had been given.
“Sorry. It’s weird though, mah big tough older brother doing that, even if his marefriend is with him.” Applebloom told him as she checked off the names of places they had to visit today while circling ones that would wait for other delivery days.
“How?” Big Mac asked her while they pulled up to Bon Bon’s sweet shop to deliver her delivery of apples.
“Well I mean… it’s you. The big, stronger than a dragon, bigger than life, Big Macintosh.” Applebloom seemed as if she was trying to remind him of who he was.
“And that means I can’t go the spa?” Big Mac asked her with a raised eyebrow as he balanced three crates in his arms.
Applebloom shrugged and gestured him inside where Big Mac was directed to a back storage room by Bon Bon. The sweet shop owner looked like she had run a mile but that wasn’t too surprising, with school having just let out the mare had probably been swamped by sugar crazed foals just before they got there.
“So, why the sudden change in attitude?” Applebloom inquired as the two continued through Ponyville, waving to their neighbours as they passed them and occasionally handing out spare apples to the foals playing in the streets or on their way to the park.
Big Mac was saved having to answer anymore of this when he heard a stallion calling his name. “Excuse me my friend, would you happen to be Mr Macintosh?”
Big Mac turned and smiled politely to the strange stallion. He was very well dressed for someone on a normal day in Ponyville, and since he hadn’t yet seen any chaos happening today he was assuming he wasn’t from around here.
“Eeyup.” Big Mac replied simply.
“Ah most excellent, my name is Fancy Pants, a pleasure I’m sure.” The large stallion in a most expensive suit said as he shook Big Mac’s hand. The stallion’s impressive blue facial hair was a little distracting to Big Mac but he made sure to not stare, he had been raised to be a polite stallion after all.
“Anyway my wife sent me to come and find you, I believe she knows your marefriend Miss Cheerilee?”
“Oh?” Big Mac asked.
“Oh yes, they were friends from when Cheerilee and her were in school together. They want us to go for a meal together down at the Grapevine.” Fancy Pants said jerking his thumb in the direction of Ponyville’s oldest and most popular pub.
“Wait, but you were supposed to be-” Applebloom objected as Big Mac walked toward the pub with Fancy Pants, leaving the yellow farm filly with the heavy wagon.
“Oh what could be so goshdarned good in a pub to leave yer sister with the heavy lifting?” The farm filly grumbled as Big Mac headed to find out just how wise he had been to leave the chores for today, the reward would be most excellent even if the stallion didn’t know it at the time.

I'd like to say upfront that this chapter has been held back because my own life is very busy right now. I promise that the next chapter is largely comprised of what I imagine most of you are here for but I wanted to at least put out a chapter to show that no this fic is not dead.

“Have fun you lot.” She called after them when they had paid for their drinks and proceeded up the stairs.
“Oh we will.” Fleur called back with a giggle. Big Mac was grateful that his own blush couldn’t be seen under his scarlet coat. It seemed like they hadn’t even taken one step before they were outside their rooms, Fleur now openly hanging on Big Mac’s arm.
“Have fun sugarcube.” He told Cheerilee, giving her a kiss on the cheek before being practically dragged into the room by Fleur. The rooms had an old fashioned feel, a four poster bed, a fake fur rug and a fireplace, all of which he utterly failed to notice with the mare now on her knees in front of him and focused on undoing his belt.

Just can’t see myself keepin’ a harem if I’m bein’ honest.” The big stallion confessed. His doubts and worries from when they started had vanished, lying here with Fleur in bed was a wonderful feeling even if he knew Cheerilee and him were each other’s missing half, but still the idea of having a large harem for himself didn’t seem to sit well.
Fleur nodded understandingly, giving him another quick peck on the cheek. “And that Big Macintosh is what makes you a stallion I am willing to do this partner swap with; a stallion who would never want to keep a harem, who needs persuasion from more than just his marefriend even to think about it but even now I can tell you aren’t about to try and run off with me instead of Cheerilee.”
“Never.” Big Mac agreed simply and firmly.
“Quite. And the same is true of me to Fancy Pants.” Fleur said with a fond smile. “Sex with you is wonderful fun Big Macintosh, fun I hope to have more than just this one night, but my heart shall always lie with Fancy.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” Big Mac assured her as Fleur moved herself up to rest her head next to his, the two lying looking each other in the eyes. “So then…. what do we do about this whole ‘Herd’ thing then? I can’t see myself holding a harem to myself and Cheerilee was wanting it and-” He stopped when Fleur placed a finger on his lips to shush him.
“We will sleep on it. For now, I need a warm cuddly stallion because I can feel myself falling asleep.” Fleur giggled as she wrapped herself around Big Mac, who returned the favor. “Goodnight Big Mactinosh.”
“Goodnight Fleur.” Big Mac whispered back, kissing her one more time before laying his head back and feeling himself drift off.
The farmer’s dreams were filled with Cheerilee, as always, but this time he also saw two other predominant figures. Big Mac could never remember specifics of his dreams but this one he was pretty certain involved Cheerilee, Fleur showing up at the farm and a lot of yelling from his family, especially Applejack.
He had begun tossing and turning in his bed before it was interrupted.
“You seem troubled noble farmer.”
Big Mac shut up in bed… except what had been a bed seemed to have now turned into a hammock in the apple orchard. Looking straight up he could see a familiar, elegant figure sitting above him.
“It’s been some time my friend.” Princess Luna said as she floated down gracefully from the tree to stand next to Big Mac’s hammock. Big Mac tried to get up to bow, nearly falling out of the hammock on his tired legs.
Luna smiled. “The gesture is appreciated but you do not bow to u- me.” She corrected herself, still trying to keep her speech ‘up to date’. “But it seems you are troubled my old friend. Surely a stallion such as yourself who aided the Princess of the Night in crushing her enemies should not be so concerned?”
“Luna. We won events at the fair as a team.” Big Mac reminded her. Luna certainly had an interesting memory of it it seemed. “But yeah… I got a lot on my mind right now.”
Luna nodded and then sat herself down as if on an invisible chair. “I have plenty of time.”
Big Mac looked at her, slightly puzzled. “I thought you had to guard foals’ dreams?”
“I do. And I am doing so as we speak.” Big Mac decided not to question exactly how far Luna’s power stretched and instead got right down to the point, explaining all about how Cheerilee had wanted to experiment and start a Herd, how Fancy Pants and Fleur had agreed to the partner swap, his doubts about doing it initially and how now he didn’t think he could go through with a harem.
Luna nodded as she needed to, obviously paying the deepest attention to her friend’s troubles. “Hmm…” Was all she said at first after hearing him out.
Big Mac took several deep breaths as he realised he hadn’t breathed throughout his entire explanation. “Tell me, have you considered not being the head of a herd?”
Big Mac looked at Luna in confusion for clarification.
“I have been around a lot longer than you Big Macintosh; you are not the first stallion in history to find himself as head of a herd and feel he does not deserve or should not go through with having mares at his beck and call.” Luna assured him. “I would, instead, suggest perhaps that you make a herd that has no leader.”
“Does that even work?” Big Mac asked in genuine confusion.
“Oh yes. In fact I daresay by the time I was… relieved of my duties,” Big Mac forced himself to stay completely silent at the mention of Luna’s banishment, “that herds which were about simply a group of ponies coming together to engage in sexual activity with each other, without having to serve or obey one specific leader, were more common than the more traditional herd setup.” Luna told him, obviously liking being able to talk about her past.
Big Mac looked at her with wide eyes. “That… sounds absolutely ideal princess. Thank you, so much.” He smiled at her while Luna gave him a nod and a kind look.
“Selfless and good ponies are rarer than I would like Big Macintosh, and you are both. If anypony deserves some peace of mind, I believe it to be you.” Luna told him before standing up. “For now I will leave you to your thoughts and dreams in peace, but please think about what I have said. And consider your wardrobe.”
That seemed very odd advice, especially from the princess in full royal regalia. It was only after Luna vanished that Big Mac realised he was still naked in the dream world.
Big Mac could only groan to himself that he had just held a conversation with Princess Luna in his birthday suit for so long considering the next image his mind treated him to was Fleur de Lis in a far too tight cowgirl outfit, with Cheerilee already waiting on a bed behind her.
From above Luna allowed herself to indulge her voyeuristic side for a short time longer before leaving Big Mac to his dreams.

So... yeah, this is late. As in VERY late.
I do apologize to my readers about the delay in this and from now on I will try to get these out faster. I cannot promise but I will do my absolute best.
As always, suggest characters you wish to see involved in the story, if I see enough desire for one in particular I will try to write them into the story.
Big Macintosh emerged from the changing rooms at the Ponyville Gym with his farm work clothes left behind in favor of a grey muscle shirt and black shorts. The big red stallion didn’t strictly need to work out each day considering his already exceptional fitness and his physically demanding work but it had been something he had gotten into the habit of since he was only twelve, around the time when Applejack had left to go and stay with their relatives in Manehatten for a while.
With his little sister gone for several weeks Big Mac had needed something to occupy his time when he wasn’t at school, and even though Granny Smith hadn’t been so sure of his choice of weight training with their apple crates, it had certainly worked out for him in the long run.
“Hey Big Mac!” The familiar voice of Thunderlane called to Big Mac from across the gym where the dark coated pegasus was already hard at work on one of the treadmills. “Cheerilee was in this morning, she said for me to tell you that she’s doing parents night tonight for the school so she’ll be back late.” Thunderlane told him in a casual tone; the pegasus had been one of the first to know of Big Mac and Cheerilee getting together and since Cheerilee used the gym in the early hours and was usually gone by the time Big Mac got there it wasn’t uncommon for him to relay messages.
“Thanks.” Big Mac nodded as he picked up a pair of weights roughly the weight of cinderblocks and sat down on the bench nearest Thunderlane’s treadmill.
“So… how was last night big guy?” Thunderlane asked in a very strange tone
“So you’re actually serious? As in, you really mean that all that happened? This isn’t just you making fun of me for always trying to get you to tal-”
Thunderlane forced himself to stop talking as he saw Big Mac giving him an annoyed glare while the red stallion lifted a pair of weights in his hands that together probably weighed as much as Thunderlane himself. The black stallion made the choice to stop checking that the farmer was being truthful and instead try and get details.
“So… do you actually plan to keep it going?” He asked over the noise of the treadmill he was running on.
Big Mac just shrugged and continued lifting the weights in his hands; the two of them had the gym mostly to themselves for now so he didn’t exactly mind talking to Thunderlane about this. He knew he couldn’t tell too many ponies, Celestia knows he didn’t need that level of attention on him or anypony else involved, but Thunderlane as much as he never shut up knew not to let any secrets slip out of that big mouth.
“Well you can’t just stop it now right?” Thunderlane asked again as he watched Big Mac drop the weight down, apparently caring nothing for the loud clang.
“Nope.” Big Mac said simply with a blank expression as he stood up and walked over to the blue exercise mat to do his usual fifty push ups after a workout.
“And… anypony you’ve got your eyes on?” Thunderlane tried to pry, kicking the speed of the treadmill up slightly; the pegasus stallion had been one of the two Ponyville residents officially added to the Wonderbolts reserve, the other being Rainbow Dash to the shock of absolutely no one, and he was trying to hone his speed not just in flying but running too.
Big Mac didn’t have the heart to point out that wouldn’t help much in a flying squad.
“Come on buddy, you know I’m just gonna keep asking til you give me an answer.” Thunderlane insisted in a voice that made Big Mac distinctly envision a male Rarity.
“I don’t make a habit of looking at mares like that.” Big Mac said truthfully.
“And yet you’re trying to start a herd with Cheerilee?” Thunderlane pointed out in bemusement.
“I wasn’t the one who brought up the idea.”
“But you aren’t objecting to it are you?”
“...Nope.”
“Then shouldn’t you be thinking more about who you might want to add to the herd? I mean you said Cheerilee’s friends are only in town for a few more days, shouldn’t you think of some more local girls?”
“Eeyup.”
Thunderlane sighed. “You know it’s really hard trying to have a proper talk with you.”
“Eeyup.” Big Mac replied with a slight chuckle.
Thunderlane turned around and raised his hand to flip Big Mac off, misplaced one of his feet and promptly found himself flipped right off the treadmill as it flung him backwards into the bench Big Mac had only just moved off of to do push ups.
“Knew it.” Big Mac mumbled to himself as he did his push ups, alternating which arm he used. As he went for number eleven on his left arm a second loud crash caused him to drop onto his face in surprise.
He turned around to glare at Thunderlane but the darker stallion shook his head in confusion, still lying in front of the bench the treadmill had thrown him at. “Not my fault this time.” He assured Big Mac as he looked around for where the second crash had come from, only for another loud bang to sound seconds later from the changing rooms.
“Who’s screwing around with the lockers again?” He asked in annoyance, remembering an occasion where the Cutie Mark Crusaders had managed to tip over half of the lockers. “Hello?” He knocked on the mares changing room. “Whoever’s in there what’s going on?”
“Sorry!” Well that voice was certainly familiar.
“Ditzy?” He asked through the door.
“Err, yeah. Look, Big Mac, I swear it’s not a big deal, I can handle it myself you can jus- OUCH- just go back to your, ugh, workout!” She insisted, sounding rather than she was trying to beat up the lockers judging from the metal clanging going on.
Big Mac raised an eyebrow at Thunderlane, who just shrugged his shoulders again.
“Coming in.” He said loud enough for Ditzy to hear. “One, two, three.” He counted, giving her time to call out if she wasn’t decent or just didn’t want him in.
The locker room wasn’t a disaster zone as Big Mac had half expected but Ditzy had certainly done a number on the door to her locket. Namely, it looked like it had been ripped clean off.
“Uhh…. hi?” The grey pegasus offered, looking more than a little sheepish; she only had a towel wrapped around herself but at least she was covered. “Look, I’m really sorry if I gave you a fright, it was totally not locked, I mean I shut my wing in it and-”
“Locked yourself out of your locker?” Big Mac guessed.
“Again!?” Thunderlane asked from the back in disbelief.
Big Mac ignored his friend and picked up the battered locker door in one hand, turning it over and observing the hinges which had given up under Ditzy’s assault. “You could’ve asked someone.” He suggested, trying not to sound condescending.
Ditzy gave him an odd look, with the eye that was looking at him anyway, and looked off to the side. “I’m sorry.” She mumbled.
Big Mac quickly patted her shoulder. “No harm no foul.” He assured her gently.
“I’m pretty sure that constitutes foul.” Thunderlane pointed out.
“Don’t you have a fashionista to go and try and score another hug off of?” Big Mac snarked.
“Hey, we can’t all have mares throwing themselves at our herd. Or even have herds for that matter.” Thunderlane pointed out with a dramatic wave of his arms between them that looked like he was badly auditioning for a play. The pegasus stallion got the point though and left the room quickly. “See you later Big Mac.”
Big Mac watched the stallion go before he felt a tap on his shoulder. “So… it is true? You are making a herd, with Cheerilee?” Ditzy asked with an inquisitive look.
“Eeyup.” Big Mac said with a slightly frustrated look that news had travelled so fast evidently; he had been hoping he would have more ponies willing to vouch for his good intentions by the time word starting getting out strong.
Ditzy giggled at the look on his face. “Word travels fast in small towns Big Mac.” She reminded him. “Don’t worry if it’s a secret I promise I won’t shoot my mouth off about it.” She swore with a salute, immediately grabbing her towel as it began to slip down.
Big Mac nodded in gratitude, trying not to look at the brief glimpse he got of her upper body. “Dinky alright?” He asked, turning around to let her get changed.
“Oh she’s doing wonderful.” Ditzy said, sounding much more cheerful with her daughter brought up. “Cheerilee told me the other day she made the most wonderful picture in their arts and crafts, she thinks Dinky might become a really great artist one of these days. Did she tell you about it?”
“Eeyup.” Cheerilee had told him no such thing but then she usually didn’t, she preferred not to bring work into it when they were together.
“I’m sure Dinky will love that Cheerilee thought it was good enough to tell her special somepony.” Ditzy said with a loving tone while buttoning up her mailmare outfit. “Do you mind if I ask how it got started?” She asked, suddenly.
“Hmm?” Big Mac asked; everyone in town by now knew of the incident with the love poison and how it had kickstarted his and Cheerilee’s being more honest about how they felt.
“The herd.” Ditzy reminded him.
“Oh.” The big red stallion paused, wondering if he should be honest. “Cheerilee’s idea.” He said simply.
Ditzy gave the stallion a strange look as she put her hat on. “If I heard that coming from anypony other than an Apple I’d probably think they were short on a few orders of honesty.” She admitted. “You can turn around.” She added.
Big Mac turned back to face the pegasus with a sheepish smile. “Truth be told, surprised me too.” He confessed, scratching the back of his neck nervously. “I still haven’t really thought of how or who or when.” He admitted.
Ditzy got a thoughtful look on her face, which only made her eyes drift even further apart. “How about Lyra? No wait, she and Bon Bon are an item now. Have you asked Pinkie Pi-” She stopped herself at Big Mac’s worried look. “Yeeeah maybe not.” Ditzy admitted, cracking up at the look on Big Mac’s face.
The stallion shared a laugh with the mailmare. “I think I want someone… what’s a nice way to put it…?”
“Simple.”
“That ain’t always nice.”
“Most words can be mean, depends how you say them.” Ditzy reminded him.
The stallion blinked. “I suppose. But, I dunno, just somepony… somepony normal, somepony we can… can….”
“Hang around with without it being awkward?” Ditzy asked.
“Can I get you to speak for me from now on?”
“Long as you keep ordering packages for me to deliver.”
“Deal.” The stallion chuckled. “But I mean it, I just want someone nice, someone I can relax with, talk around…” The stallion paused again as he realised mid-sentence he was basically describing the pegasus mare before him.
“Well, it’s Ponyville; normal is in short supply.” Ditzy joked, but the jokey smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Oh sour apples!” She snapped as she looked at her watch. “Has it been that long? Oh I’m gonna be late again!” She moaned, quickly snatching up her bag from the locker and throwing things into it. “Please can you tell the owner I’m really sorry, I swear I’ll pay for the door once I have enough.” Ditzy quickly asked Big Mac.
The stallion had been struggling with himself but now decided he knew what he had to ask. “Ditzy…?”
“Oh no did I break something else?” The pegasus asked, whipping her head round the room to look for anything she might’ve broke.
“Nope.” Big Mac assured her. “It’s just… well….” The stallion sometimes wanted to throttle his own throat until he could speak more easily, even though he knew that made negative sense. He could practically feel his nervous nature tying his tongue in knots. “Do you, maybe sometime…. want to…”
CLANG
Ditzy shot up and smashed her head into the top of the locker with a loud echoing clang. She didn’t seem even remotely fazed when she turned around to look at Big Mac, quickly running her eyes, or one of them anyway, over his face to see if he was asking what she thought he surely couldn’t be.
“Are you, really, you’re… wow, that’s, I, uhh…” Ditzy stumbled over her words worse than Big Mac had trouble getting them out to begin with as she tried to answer the silent nod that the stallion gave in response, apparently even his own iconic one word answers abandoning him. “I… I’m honored but, I have Dinky and-”
Big Mac held a hand up quickly, waving it to try and assure her there was no problem with her not wanting to but Ditzy quickly held his hand in hers, taking a second to note the difference.
“I’m not saying no.” She assured him, unconsciously stroking her hands over his. “I just… need to think about it, okay?” She asked him. “And I’m pretty sure you and Cheerilee should talk it over too, I mean after all, Cheerilee might not want a pony like me involved.” She didn’t clarify what she meant but for the stallion she didn’t really have to.
Big Mac didn’t dare say yes in case she took that to mean he agreed with the ‘pony like me’ part of her answer. Instead her just placed a hand on her shoulder and nodded, looking into her eyes to try and convey what his tongue wasn’t letting him say.
“Okay… how about you and Cheerilee come round to my house after I get off work and we can, talk about it?” She offered. “I mean the very least I can do is make you dinner first.” She added with a weak chuckle.
Big Mac just nodded again.
“Okay, well, I’ll see you tonight?” Ditzy said with an uncertain tone. She was very aware of how close the two of them were all of a sudden. For one mad moment she considered grabbing Big Mac and pulling him into a kiss right then and there but instead the grey pegasus settled for a hug to the big red stallion and quickly left the room, apologising as she went and already sounding like she was practicing an apology to her boss.
Big Mac stood still where he was in the changing room, pondering what had just happened. Was he really ready to take on a more permanent second mare? Fleur and Fancy had been essentially a fling, he and Cheerilee both knew that, but Ditzy was not only far closer to home but she had a foal to consider.
Could they really expect Ditzy to take to this well? Big Mac had no idea what had happened between her and her previous partner, heck he didn’t even know if they had married before Dinky came along or not. Had it been a bad experience? Would she be hesitant to get involved in anything if it had?
His thoughts were quickly shattered, collected into a dustpan and thrown into Tartarus by an ear piercing shriek. He spun around, ears clamped down to his head, to see three mares he recognised from the marketplace screeching at him.
In hindsight, perhaps it hadn’t been wise to stay still in the mares changing room while there was a locker door ripped off it’s hinges.

Okay, everyone who has bothered to come back here is owed a major apology on my behalf. My personal life as well as my work life has been an utter wreck for the last year and a half, which has made continuing my fanfictions the last thing on my mind. I don't consider this to be a proper excuse as I did have time where I could've wrote more of this story but drumming up the motivation to do so has been almost impossible.
But finally, here it is, part one of Special Delivery, introducing Ditzy Hooves as the potential third permanent member of the herd. For those curious, the poll was only one vote of difference in favor of Ditzy, second place was a close run to Vinyl.
And yes, she's called Ditzy here. That's not out of a desire to avoid controversy or because I'm sensitive, I just think it's a better pony name.
Part Two is already in the works. My plan from now on is to strictly organise every member of the herd entering the story into their own little mini-arcs, so while there may be noticeable gaps between the arcs themselves, the parts of each arc should come within reasonable time.
Hopefully this first part makes up somewhat. As always, any ideas, potential herd members (stallions or mares) and in general any advice is highly appreciated.
