Happy New Year
Happy New Year!
Load Full StoryA light green filly darted down the hallway, with her little wings buzzing with excitement. Her hooves pounded against the hard wood floor as she turned into a doorway and ran up to a bed. Once removing the covers she found a gold brown filly, a little older than she. The Pegasus began shaking the other filly, in an attempt to wake her up, which she suceded in doing.
"Ugh, cherrycloud, I want to sleep. Leave me alone." The gold unicorn muttered from under her blanket. Cherrycloud crossed her hooves and huffed.
"but golden quill, you said yourself that you wanted me to wake you up when it was amost midnight!" She protested.
Golden quill suddenly lit up. "What time is it?" She asked with newfound energy. Cherrycloud pointed to a clock that read '11:55'. "Why didn't you wake me sooner!?" The gold unicorn yelled, and pounded out the door without waiting for a reply. Cherrycloud ran after her. Soon, once checking outside, she found golden outside with their mom. Once she saw them she smiled.
"I was wondering where you were," the mom confessed, "I was about to go looking for you two. I don't want you to miss it."
Golden Quill ran up to her and gave her a small hug. "Have they started yet?" she asked, scanning the sky with her bright red eyes.
Mom shook her head, "It shouldn't be for another few minutes." Then Cherrycloud pointed her hoof to the sky, with her blue eyes shining.
"Look! The fireworks!" She shouted, grinning as a big one exploded into a bunch of tiny particles. Then, her gaze darkened and she murmured sadly, "Dad would've loved this." Her mom put her wing around cherryclouds shoulder and nuzzled her gently.
"I know," She whispered in her ear, "but we have to move on. That's what he would've wanted." Cherry nodded and looked back up at the fireworks. Ponies had started counting down.
"Fourteen! Thriteen! Twelve!"
Cherry and golden snuggled closer to their mom and hugged her tighter.
"Ten! Nine! Eight!"
They all grinned with excitement.
"Five! Four!"
All three of them whispered the final numbers to eachother.
"Three, two, one..."
They all jumped with excitement as everypony shouted, "happy new year!" The fireworks grew massively and all the ponies cheered for a new year.
Everyone seemed so happy. For once everything seemed perfect. It really was a new year.
Cherrycloud and Golden quill stood next to a large stallion. His coat was a dark grey, and he had a deep red mane. On his flank, he bore green and orange fireworks. He looked down and smiled at the two fillies with rosy eyes. The fillies themselves were shivering with excitement. Various unicorns were gathered around, shooting fireworks into the sky. In the distance you could hear ponies counting down. The stallions horn was already glowing a dark purple. Finally, the ponies shouted "Happy new year!", and the stallion shot a large beam of magic into the air. But something went wrong.
The magic energy exploded too early, and a massive explosion appeared. All the ponies were already running away, desperate not to get hit by one of the flying sparks. But for the grey stallion, it was too late. The pure magic he has shot up was crashing down. The fillies had hidden in a small bush, and were watching with horror as the magic fell on top of the stallion.
"Daddy no!" They shrieked, as the magic squished their father.
A light yellow mare walked down a road. Her cheeks were stained with tears, and she wore a black cloak. She had two fillies walking gloomily beside her. They, too, had tear stained cheeks, and wore black cloaks. The light green filly was sobbing quietly, while her wings and head drooped to the ground. The golden unicorn held her head high, and was trying to be brave. But she was as sad inside as the green filly. Soon, they arrived at a secluded plain, where a coffin rested. Several ponies gathered around it, saying goodbyes to the pony inside. The yellow mare and her fillies approached the coffin. She rested her muzzle on it, and let several tears fall onto the hard, wooden surface.
"I promise I'll take good care of them," She whimpered, "Just like you promised if I passed. I know I'll never be enough, but I will always cherish you in my heart. You love them so much, and I hope you watch over them from heaven."
The golden filly stepped up beside her. She was letting tears fall freely, and rested her muzzle down next to her mothers. "You were the best dad I could've asked for," She sobbed, "I made you something special. Its a picture of our family." The filly picked up a small drawing and placed it on the coffin. "I hope you like it, you always liked my pictures, and I tried my best on it. I just wish you could've lived. But wishing isn't always enough, Is it..."
now it was the green fillies turn. She didn't rest her muzzle next to her mothers, instead stretched it to the sky. "Why do you have to leave us!?" She screamed, "Why couldn't you have just lived!? I want to see you again! Why did you have to die!?" The filly shrieked to the sky. Tears flowed like a waterfall down her muzzle. She stomped the ground and screamed with greif. "Dads are supposed to love fillies! But you just left us!? Why did you die!? Why!? Just tell me why!?"
"WHY!?"
