The Guardian Of Equestria

I opened my eyes to find wires and cords attached to my body, the sound of an even beeping of a machine, and the looks of my friends at my bed side.

"Are you ok? You seemed to have been having a nightmare." Twilight asked with concern.

A nightmare? What could I have been dreaming of?

"Yeah I'm ok."

"That's good to hear. We were frighten when we saw you get wheeled in on a stretcher. What happened?"

"Wait , when you saw me get- Hold on why were you here in the first place?"

"We were here because Spike needed to get his stomach pumped, he ate to many of Pinkie's cupcakes."

'Ha. Dragon stomachs are much stronger then human's or ponies.' I smiled at my thought.

As though on cue Spike and a doctor walked in. Spike was green in the face, but I could only assume that it was from him getting his stomach pumped.

"My. You certainly look better then when you arrived. Actually you don't seem to have any damage that you once had." He gave me a questioning look.

He then walked up to me and began to examine me.

"That's incredible. You were brought here with burns and slash marks. But now, now you don't have any sign of them. Has this ever happened before?" The doctor asked raising an eyebrow.

"N-no. I've never gotten hurt like this before. I mean there was that one time that I sprained my ankle, but that took weeks before healing."

"That sure is fascinating." He told me before walking out of the room and telling me I was free to leave.

After filling out my release paper work. We went on our way back to Twilight's home. The sun was now setting on us, I also filled in the girls on what had happened or at least the bits I could remember.

"My! What a horrific experience!" Rarity clamored.

On our way to Twilight's we passed the school, most of it was burned to the ground. I stood in front of the school, that human was looking for me. He was was willing to try and harm a student just to get me. His blade was already stained with blood. What would have happened to the foals that were there if I wasn't there to be the target would they fall victim like the poor soul that met him first?

"You alright?" AppleJack asked.

"Where's Applebloom and her friends?"

"After you were drop off at the hospital. They went back to tha farm, said something about a sword."

"What?"

I looked at them waiting for it to finally dawn onto them what words had come out of her mouth. We soon rushed to the farm, who knew what problems or harm they might cause with a sword. We were in a panic when we got to the farm. We ran around and searched for them. Where in the world could they be? All I hoped for was that they didn't harm any pony or themselves. I entered the big barn that they had and at the very back were stacks of hay were saw a small pink and purple tail. I slowly crept up to it. I tried to brace myself for the worst.

"Sweetiebelle?" No reply. "Sweetiebelle you alright?" Once again no reply. I peeked around the corner of the hay to see her clenching the sword in her hoofs.

I picked her up with relief.

"Oh thank goodness. I thought you might have been hurt." I hugged her with joy and relief.

"Maxis!?" She squeaked dropping the sword then hugging me back. "Oh I thought we'd never see you again!" She cried out as tears began to form.

"Where are the other girls?"

"They're out on patrol making sure that no one would try to take your sword." She explained to me as tears now ran down her face.

"I don't care about that sword. All I care about is that you three aren't hurt or getting your selves in trouble. Now let's go look for the others so we can talk."

Sweetiebelle and I went and got Scootaloo, who was not that far from the barn. As for Applebloom, she was out doing laps around the farm trying to find any intruders. Once the three were gathered we met up with the rest of our search party. We went to the Apple house living room, Rarity and Applejack were both relieved  and filled with joy to see that no one was hurt, but they weren't happy to see that they were protecting a sword. The Cutie Mark Crusaders Stood in the middle of the room as the black and red blade laid in front of them out of its sheath. I truly felt sorry for the fillies they had gone through so much today, the fight with the other human that causes their school to burn, the fear of losing a friend,and now they're going to be yelled at by their sisters. This was not a good day for them.

"Now why in tar nation would you keep and pertect such a dangerous thing?" Applejack questioned them.

"Because its what Maxis used to protect us when that other human showed up." Sweetiebelle explained.

"Cause if that human ever showed up again Maxis could just use it again ta defeat him." Applebloom added.

"It the sword of a hero!" Scootaloo finished off.

"Now girls. I'm not going to get into anymore fights with that human. Or at least not for a while." I told them.

"How'da you know that?" AJ questioned.

I had told them some parts of the story that I remembered but there were some parts that I left out just because I was still trying to make sense out of it. Guess now would be were I'd tell them the parts I did leave out.

"When we were fighting he said odd things. Some even made my head hurt... Just before we began to fight, he gave me that sword and said that it belonged to someone named Draco. I know that name. I know I've heard it some where but I can't remember where. Then he surrendered the fight. Said that 'Father passed.'. what ever that meant." I looked down at the ground with sorrow, trying to figure out the name and what he had said. "You don't think that I'm. Could it be that I'm a dad and not know?" I asked looking at everyone in the room.

No pony said a word. I don't blame them, with what I just said what would they say. 'Oh you could be. No you're not.' I mean seriously what was I expecting them to tell me.

"It'll be ok Maxis. Even if he is your son." Twilight encouraged.

At that moment someone began to knock on the door. No one moved at all. I went to answer the door for who ever was behind it. It was Derpy the mailmare.

"Here you go it's for you Mr.Maxis." she pulled a small brown box the size of a box that could hold a proposing ring.

"Thanks Derpy."

For someone that was called Derpy she wasn't such a derp at finding ponies or humans. She would be a great detective, solving unknown mysteries.

Once the box was in my hands she went her way, to deliver her next package. I went back into the living room with the small box in my hand.

"What's that?" Rainbow asked staring at the box.

"I have no idea. I think I'll go home and rest its been a long day for all of us. We can talk more about this tomorrow." I claimed as I went to pick up the sword on the ground. They walked me to the door, from there we said our goodbyes and went our ways.

My home was on the outskirts of ponyville, close to the Everfree forest. No not close by Fluttershy either, but around the same premise. I opened the door to my house and walked in. My house wasn't that cool or big for that matter, even if it has two floors. On the left was the living room and a bit behind that was the kitchen. Above the kitchen was my room. To the right of the entrance was a small closet that held cleaning supplies. On the top of the stairs a little to to the left of it was a bathroom. On the right of the top of the stair case was a guest room. I rarely ever had guest so for the most part it was just an empty room. The only ponies that ever stopped and stayed the night was the CMC. I went straight to my room so I could get some sleep. I sat on my bed with the small box in my hands 'what in the world could it be' I thought to myself.

I began to unwrap the box to find an odd coin. On one side of it it had a pegasus, unicorn, and earth pony with arrows pointing from one to next one, making a circle. On the other side had a face of a human, one of which I thought I knew. I placed the coin on top of a night stand that stood next to my bed along side with the sword that I had brought for Apple Acres.

"Weirdest day ever."

With that I laid down in my bed and closed my eyes to go to sleep.  When I finally woke up, surprised that I had no dreams or anything strange. It was nice, not dealing with the bullshit strange things that happened since yesterday.

I got out of bed still partly asleep. I walked out of my room went to the bathroom. I splashed some water onto my face and got a good look in the mirror that was in front of the sink. There was a refection of a grey unicorn with a black mane with the tip of his mane white. He had a grey eyes, but who was this unicorn and how'd he get in? I turned but no one was there. I looked back at the mirror.

"Well that's odd." His mouth moved to my words. My eyes darted wide open, so did his.

"No no no no! Tell me I'm not a-" My words stopped there. Soon I ran to the front door only to see a flash of white light and running into somepony. My vision had become obscured, but I was still able to make out two pegasi and a unicorn or maybe a third pegasus... No, not unicorn or pegasus but an alicorn. A purple one at that which meant I had crashed into Twilight.

"You got some nerve teleporting in here when its closed and then running into my friend!"

The voice that I heard came from RD I know that voice and tone all too well. The second pegasus was a light yellow and pink that now spoke to me in a soothing hushed tone, asking if I was ok. Fluttershy for sure. Know I knew the three that were in here but I still couldn't see them clearly.

"Oh am I glad to hear your voices. Look you not going to believe me but I got changed into a unicorn and I have no idea how this happened." I told them.

"Woah! Woah! You're asking for our help after you crashed into my friend and pooffed in here when the library is closed! Then you talk about not being a Unicorn  when you obviously are!" Rainbow Dash argued.

"Rainbow Dash. If he needs our help we should at least try to listen to him. Now what do you mean you don't know how you became a unicorn? Were you not one before? If not what were you?" Twilight ask ed me asked me as she stood up.

"Really? You don't recognize my voice?" I looked at them puzzled.

"Maxis." A timid voice cried. The pegasus that I assumed to be Fluttershy gently hovered down to me and stood in front, at that moment my eyes became clear.

A smile grew on my face as I now saw them clear as day now. I hugged her so fast that she was taken by surprise.

"Yes! Thank you! I knew at least you would figure out who I was!" I shouted with joy.

Twilight and Rainbow Dash just stared at me. Once I let go I turned and looked at them, waiting for them to give me a reaction.

"Maxis!" They both yelled.

"How, how did this happen?" Twilight asked walking around me.

"I  have no idea. I just woke up like this."

"Did you do anything strange happen after you left last night?"

"No. All I did was open the box I got. Well there was that strange coin that was in it, but how could this have happened?"

"Strange coin?" Twilight repeated before leaving the room we were in.

When she returned to the room she held a coin with her magic. 'There is no way that she could have the coin I got last night. Besides I literally just got here from my home by magic. There is no way, no how- that's the coin I left on the counter...'

"How did?" I stopped I couldn't comprehend how she managed to get my coin so fast.

"It appeared earlier today on one of new books this morning."

"But-but...oh never mind."

"You know, your cutie mark is almost the same thing as one side of the coin. The three types of ponies, one arrow point to the next pony. The only difference is that instead of an empty spot in between them, there's a question mark." She explained.

I quickly looked at my flank. She was telling the truth. I was a unicorn with the cutie mark of the three types of ponies that had arrows point one to the next one. Now the only new question was, what in the heck is my talent? For half an hour or so we began to look for any book that might help us figure out what happened to me. Unfortunately no luck what so ever.

"How can there nothing about this coin here." Twilight questioned.

"Maybe somepony else might know something about it." I suggested.

"Ok, but who?"

There was a slight pause before we figured out someone that might know about things we've never seen before. She was just the pony, or zebra to ask.

A few minutes later we found our selves at Zecora's place. We knocked to see if she was home. There was no answer, so we tried and again, still no answer.

"Maybe we should go home and try again tomorrow." I suggested.

We turned around ready to leave when suddenly the door opened.

"Why if isn't Twilight Sparkle and her friends, what is this a new one shall attend." Zecora asked staring at me.

"N-no. It me Maxis."

"Maxis my dear, this is the strangest thing this year. Come on in and sit around, I take it this is the reason you stop on bound."

So we did we went inside and explained everything, about that odd little coin.

"Hmhm a strange coin you say, show it to me it'd be better that way."

Twilight pulled the coin out and gave it to Zecora. She stopped and stared at it for a while before she began to laugh.

"This coin is but a relic, but the effects is how you say 'quite epic'. "

"So it turns humans into ponies."

"Yes and no, for there's a story you must know. There was a man, who was from a clan. He was nice to my tribe, and there relation had a good vibe. The man would soon die, which meant my tribe would surely cry. But before he die he fell in love, to impress the mare as a pegasus he past the clouds far above. As a earth pony he ran across the land, for a special flower brand."

"Like cooking flower?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"No. I think she means as plant wise. Like roses are special during hearts and hooves day. But he's looking for a flower that is special for weddings." I corrected, Zecora nodded in agreement.

"Yes in deed, and as a unicorn he did plead. But soon a war begone, soon he left for he knew what needed to be done. When his battle won, he came back and was very stun. For wedding bells rang so loud, the entire tribe was oh so proud. By the end of the night, their family grew with delight."

"But two days later an enemy that he spared in his fight came back and took his life. The tribe killed the enemy but couldn't save his life. In the end he said he would come back to see his family, but he never did. So ever pony began to use the coin to turn themselves human to see what it was like. They felt the last emotions that he felt. Love..." I didn't know how I knew the story but it sounded so familiar to me. Like a night time story a mother would read to their child. I thought made me sad as if I once knew this person. That's when I noticed that everyone was looking at me.

"Have you heard this story before?" Twilight asked.

"I don't know it feels familiar. I don't know maybe I read it in a book over at the Cantorlot castle, or over at the crystal empire." I replied, though my answer didn't feel right at all.

I looked around me to see there faces. They all look worried about me, but why. I mean I'm fine, other then that I'm a unicorn now, but I'm fine.

"Zecora can I stay here for a day or two. That way I can learn more about this coin. If that's ok with you that is."

To it's fine, I will not wine." She replied.

"Thanks. Will you tell the others I won't see them until then." I turned and looked at Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy.

""Yeah... sure. We'll tell them. I guess we'll see you in a day or two." Twilight agreed as they all left the Zecora's house.

I turned back to Zecora, "Well guess now's the time to ask. Any idea why I might know a story from your homeland even though stories are told not written?"
