Silver Spoon woke in her bed groggily, seeing nothing but blurry shapes until she slid her glasses on. That's better, she thought to herself, slowly getting up and out of bed, moving her pile of stuffed animals away from her.
She stepped down the stairs slowly, not fully awake. She flashed a smile at her parents and sisters, who were already at the table. "Good morning, Spoon!" her sister, Precious Metal, greeted.
"Morning." Spoon answered, poking at the breakfast in front of her with a fork, before eating it, an overly sweet taste in her tongue.
She stood up and headed back to her room, picking up a brush and lifting her long mane in front of the mirror.
Her flank was bare, her spoon cutie mark gone. "Wh..What?!" She glanced from the mirror to her flank, hoping, praying, dreaming that her mind was playing tricks on her. It wasn't.
She gulped and kept her mane the way it was, and wore a cape over her flank for good measures. How could this happen?!
