Revenge of the Sound Strider
Tonight is one of the nights where Vinyl goes to her job as a DJ at a club, this night will be a good one. Tonight she has to fight a random DJ in a battle of Music.
"This will be easy as stealing candy from a foal, it's probably some wannabe trying to hoof their way into my turf" She says to nopony in particular.
Just as she rounds the corner she spots the club the battle will take place, not a fancy place but still a well known and visited place by anyone who loves to party.
"I haven't even heard of this dude, what was his name again? I'll have to check later, first I have to set my equipment"
As she enters the club and enters the backstage area, Vinyl notices a bunch of ponies grouped around a singular white earth pony.
"That must be him" Vinyl thought
He didn't look any older then she did, the only thing that stood out about him was his mane, he had a two-tone mane half Ruby red and the other half Sapphire blue. his cutie mark was three notes of the same shade as his mane, but one of the notes was a emerald green color. She couldn't make out his eyes, he was wearing a pair of shades just like hers but his were shaded black instead of the purple shade she had.
'Might as well meet him before we start this battle' Vinyl internally shrugged.
She walked up to the group of ponies that were either taking pictures or asking questions, questions she couldn't make out, but he wasn't answering them, he wasn't even speaking just sitting there listening with a straight face. As she walked up to the group she made her way through the sea of ponies all the ponies did a collective gasp and they parted.
"Hey I heard you were the one going to battle me, I hope you put up a better fight than the last pony... he didn't even show, so I hope you know what you are doing, because these ponies are expecting a show and not a disappointment" as she said that there was a collective 'ooh' that waved throughout the crowd that was gathering mass.
He just sat there looking towards her almost as if he thought she would continue, the tension was thick almost as thick as the tubs of jelly she had to help Derpy deliver when she worked as a part-time mailmare. after a minute of silence and waiting the silence was broken, not by speech but by laughter, coarse, gravely laughter. As soon as the stallion stopped laughing he spoke.
"Oh Vinyl, this world you live in is clouded like a muddy pool of water. I am here to cleanse the city"
The moment he finished speaking he trotted off out of the crowd. The crowd was silent not sure to make of what was said. out of the crowd there was one who was the most confused, it was Vinyl.
'What did he mean by that... oh well this will be a peace of cake'
A few hours later Vinyl finished setting her station up and she had at least half of an hour till the battle started, so she diced on thinking of which of her songs she created this weekend she will play...
Knock Knock Knock
"Come in" Vinyl shouted.
As soon as she said that her opponent stepped through the doorway still wearing his shades even though almost being totally dark in the building.
"Oh it's you, I wanted to ask what you meant by what you said earlier"
"Everything shall be clear soon"
"See, that's what I don't get, what will become clear?!"
He is about to exit the room but he turns his head and says,
"You are a lot like your mother, asking questions that need answers" His voice becomes a lot smoother, as soon as he says that he leaves and shuts the door, somehow without looking back.
"Wait, hold on you know my moth-" but she notices that he is gone, so she runs at the door and opens it and looks out into the hallway, but he is gone.
"He knows about my mother?"
"But... but that is impossible, Celestia said that mom had died over 1000 years ago... I need to find him after the show"
Time: 5 Minutes before Battle
"Okay, I have the song I want to play, I know what kind of spin I am going to put to it, and I know what I am going to do after the show" Vinyl said checking off her mental list.
"Vinyl! Challenger! You two are up!" The stallion with the headset shouted.
"Here we go" Vinyl said looking over to the mysterious stallion.
"Tonight everybody we have a special guest! in one corner we have the best DJ! Vinyl Scratch. And in the other corner, from legends itself, we have Night Music!"
"Night... Music?" Before she could even begin to wonder where she had heard that name she blacked out, only catching a glimpse of the stallion trotting towards her.
Location: Canterlot streets, Time: 5 minutes before incident
"Mommy, can we go and get some Ice Cream?" Vinyl asks
"No little one, we must not spoil your appetite" Luna says continuing to trot towards their destination.
Only seconds after Luna said no Vinyl jumped off her back and landed in front of her, Vinyl then proceeded to use her best puppy dog eyes that she could muster.
"Pleeeeeease?"
"Fine... but only if you will let me have some too" Luna chuckles.
"Yaaaaay"
They enter the Ice Cream parlor and begin to look at what flavors they want, they both settled for Rocky Road.
"Shall we sit down and watch some of the street performers?"
"Yes!"
Vinyl again hopped off of Luna's back and leaped up on to the chair.
"So Vinyl, how was-"
Before Luna could finish asking her question, a pony ran out of a building wounded and shouted from the top of his lungs,
"Everypony get DOWN!"
Luna barely heard this, and scooped up Vinyl, put her on her back and began to work her way through the crowd of hysteric ponies. As she just came within sight distance of the building the pony came from a blast of light shot up towards the clouds and stopped there, hitting and building up in the clouds, time seemed to falter for a moment and the cloud popped...
That was what the pony got worked up for, and got everypony to duck and cov-
CLAP
SCREEEEEEEECH
At that moment everypony collapsed and began to shield their ears from the assaulting noise, the only pony who didn't try to cover their ears was... little Vinyl Scratch. Vinyl just sat there staring at where the cloud had been.
Point of View: Vinyl Scratch Location: Canterlot Streets
Little Scratch was sitting there watching, listening to what the voice was telling her.
"Vinyl, this is where I tell you my name, not so you can call me by it, but so you can remember it, so one day, when I return you will remember this day and the things following, you must carry on the legacy little one... Vinyl, I shall love you now and forever, I will love you as much as I love your mother, just remember this and you will know..." The voice was starting to fade.
"Night Music loves you...Daddy loves you"
"Daddy where are you going?" Vinyl asked but there was nor response.
Point of View: Luna
The screeching had stopped for a moment before a booming voice took its place saying,
"PONIES OF CANTERLOT, LOOK UPON THIS ONE AND GIVE HIM MERCY, FOR WHERE HE IS GOING THERE SHALL BE NONE!"
There indeed was a pony before them all but nopony took notice as they where trying to collect themselves from what just happened, much where still lying on the ground shaking, others trying to help them. And just like that... the pony disappeared, never noticed by anypony except one.
Luna began to pick herself off the ground and started to look around for Vinyl. As soon as she spotted her, Luna began to gallop towards Vinyl.
"Vinyl are you okay!?" Luna asked lifting Vinyl before pulling her into a hug.
"Daddy loves me" Vinyl said giggling a little bit
