It was nighttime in the crystal empire. The thousands of crystal ponies living under princess cadences rule were mostly resting, waiting for Luna's moon to set and Celestia's sun to rise, sleeping peacefully until then. In the castle interior, guards were patrolling the hallways and corridors of the building, ensuring that no ill will exists in the castle. In the storeroom of the castle held a mirror. But not just any mirror. This was gateway to another realm. A gateway that opens once every thirty moons. In this realm was a event of magical proportions that tested the capibilitys of friendship in many ways. The weeks ahead would be much like that event. And tonight the castle would have a unexpected visitor. Ripples began to form at the center of the mirror, moving outward. A orange hoof poked out of the center causing ripples to move at a more rapid rate. The leg would soon follow as well as the horn, snout, mane, head, neck and the rest of the body. She had caused a great deal of trouble here, but didn't return to start more. She wanted to redeem herself. When she got a grip on her surroundings she had a silent burst of frustration. You have got to be kidding me! she thought so silently to herself. She had expected to be in canterlot. Now she had the inconvenience of finding a way to the city, more importantly, princess Celestia. She was so enraged by this infraction that she banged her head against the wall. That's when she heard a voice. The voice had familiarity. She heard it before. She slit her ears forward, focusing on the voice.
"Shineing you can't be serious!"
"Well just to make sure!"
It was Twilight Sparkle. The alicorn who had recently earned her crown. If under normal circumstances, she would hate that voice. But this was a convenience. She wanted to open the door and hug her right now actually. But she wanted hear this conversation.
"Twily, look I know you think it wasn't her but she could be in here"
"So you can do what?"
"Arrest her, of course"
Arrest? Arrest who? The unicorn was confused now, not knowing what the conversation was about. The confusion turned into shock as the door opened. She saw them both. The male unicorn with a white coat, blue and dark blue mane, and armor indicateing him as captain of the guard. Twilight was the Same as ever with her purple coat, mane with pink stripes and princess wings. Any unicorn with those kind of wings were to be respected. The unicorn could, of course, duck and hide but the room was small with nothing major to hide her. Besides, they both had their eyes locked on her anyway.
"Oh, Sunset Shimmer! I knew you'd-"
"Thanks for interupting twi but I have to do my job"
"WHAT!?! At least let her explain her-"
"I know she did it, I saw her with my own eyes"
"Wait, wha?"
The white unicorn began to proceed on Sunset Shimmer.
"Sunset Shimmer you are charged with the theft of the crystal eye, if you don't tell me the whereabouts of the eye-"
"I don't know what your talking about" she replied, keeping a calm tone of voice.
"Don't play dumb with me "
"Shining you're frightening her!"
"Would some pony please explain to me what is going on here?"
What happened next was out of anyone's control. Fed up with Sunset Shimmers confusion, the white unicorn charges after her. This action causes complete chaos. Sunset Shimmer took a magical hold on the unicorn. The unicorn barking at her to release him, added with Twilight telling her to stop before matters are made worse only adds on Sunset Shimmers anxiety. She isn't paying attention, though, to the metal necklace that the white unicorn had put on her neck with a magical hold. Upon this, Sunset Shimmers the glow on her horn fades, along with the hold on the unicorn. Sunset Shimmers mood is only made worse by this change,
"Now if you stop resisting," the unicorn began as got back up on his hoofs,"this whole thing will be as quick as possible"
Not bothering to hear wht he had to say next, she pushed him out of the way and galloped past Twilight.
"Sunset wait-!"
Not heading Twilights warning, Sunset Shimmer almost doesn't she the guard running at her. She looks just in time to move out of the way of the guard.
"STOP,THIEF!"
Sunset Shimmer doesn't stop. She kept galloping down the endless hallway, unknowing of what had happened, why it was happening, and what had she done to deserve it. She curses herself for thinking that."Of course you had this one coming,Sunset!" She said to herself."This, is what stealing the element of magic gets you!". Then again she had done so much more, but wasn't willing to pin herself with. She looks behind her to she a row of guards galloping at her. She then hit her head on a railing, taking her by surprise. She was on a balcony, unknowing of how she got there. That didn't matter though. What mattered is how she was to get past a row of guards blocking her only exit. They separate momentarily to let the white unicorn that had placed the necklace on her.
"That's a magic blocker around your neck you know? There are no options left for you now. just come quietly."
He was right. No matter how hard she focused, her horn refused to glow, frightening her. Then the guards, the white unicorn included, turn to shoo a distressed Twilight Sparkle, to ensure her that nothing would happen to Sunset Shimmer. When they weren't looking, Sunset Shimmer had spyed a fountain, and maybe just maybe....
Judging the argument, it was about to die out. This was her chance. She stood up on the railing of the balcony, preparing to jump.
"Shining, Look!"
"What do you mean-NO WAIT!"
Too late. She leapt. Diving towards the fountain. As she fell, everything slowed down, bits of the events that occurred before she jumped repeating in her head.
"you are charged with the theft of the crystal eye"
"you're frightening her..."
"STOP, THIEF!
She felt the coolness of the water surround her, ensuring her the escape she needed. She had to make it to the train, to canterlot. Maybe she could hide on the coal truck. Have to make it. Must see the princess. As she step out of the fountain, damp and soaking but free, galloped towards the station. She couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face. She couldn't her sobbing. She was shaken, alone,.............
princess luna has had a pretty un eventful day. What took up most of the day was having to accompany her sister Tia for a meeting with the royal advisers. These kind of meetings took the longest time to get through and only paid enough attention to the parts that mattered. She was, of course, out of practice and was not as used to hearing them. The length of the meeting seemed to take a year, but she had been imprisoned on the moon for a thousand years. It was a silly thing to compare to anyway. Now she was due to lower the moon and close up for a very, very long time. At least, for the day. She arrived at the balcony where the two sisters usually meet up to tend to the orbital giants that orbit equestria. Celestia was there waiting for her. The first thing Celestia did was notice the drowsyness Luna was experiencing. "Luna? Are you okay? You look... Well, exhausted".
"I'm fine" Luna answered, short and brief. She didn't want to deal with her sister's worrying right now. She just wanted to lower the moon so Celestia can raise the sun, then Luna can get some much needed rest. But Celestia didn't seem satisfied with her answer. "Luna," Celestia began, " if your tired I can always raise the moon for you. I've raised it plenty of times before.". Not this one again, Luna thought to herself. Luna doesn't mind her sister offering to raise the moon for her. She just doesn't like it when Celestia mentions that's she's done it before. That only reminds her of the thousand-year long exile she expirenced. Luna opened her mouth to assure Celestia that she was well, that she really wasn't not that tired. Instead of words, however, she let out a huge, lengthy yawn. Not the response she wanted."Tia," Luna began weakly "I can.........I can still, well.........raise the ........ The moon. I'm not....-"
"Not that tired?" Celestia began, cutting Luna off. "I find that kind of hard to believe. Nice try though." She finished the sentence with a sort of grin. Well she was beat. "Well.....I guess......you're right....Tia". She couldn't even finish a whole sentence. Exhausted as she was, she still wanted to do her part. "You can head off to your chambers, Luna. It's alright." Luna wanted to protest, but she'd really didn't feel like holding the conversation any longer. She nodded her head to tell her sister that she was off, and began to walk down the hallway. Luna was slightly frustrated with how she had dealt with her sister, but she could hold hold a conversation better awake. Celestia must have had a lot on her mind. Especially with the past couple of weeks, with the theft of the crystal eye. It still boggled her mind on why Sunset Shimmer had done it, and how she did it. The mirror only opened every thirty moons. But Celestia had come to the conclusion that see had more than enough time needed to find method to open it early. She also assumed this was how she knew Twilight Sparkle possessed the element of magic. Luna wasn't so sure about how she opened the portal, in most cases her sister was correct. Her thoughts were put to rest when the door to her chambers came into view. She quickened her pace to shorten the gap between the door and herself. She opened the door. The sight of her bed brought her so much joy before. She about to proceed to the bed when her mirror on the dresser catches her attention. She takes a closer look to see that her eyes are changed. The whites are a dark turquoise, the iris a lighter one. The doors, which are still open, slam shut. She need not worrie, as it was that time of the week again.
Luna let out week groan."Not this again..." The last thing Luna said before she collapsed on the floor, sliding into unconsciousness.....
