The fireplace warmed up the library as everypony sat at a table drinking hot chocolate. Tomorrow was the first day of the new year, and Twilight had gathered her friends to relax and trade resolutions.

“Who wants to go first?” Twilight asked.

Dash smiled and spread her wings. “Well, I’m going to get on the Wonderbolts next year, that’s my resolution.”

“Ah seem to recall you makin’ that resolution last year,” Applejack said. She took a sip of her hot cocoa.

“Yeah, well this year for sure I’ll make the Wonderbolts. And what will yours be? To be as fast and awesome as I am?”

“Hah! Well, Ah reckon Ah want the Apple family farm to be famous across Equestria,” she replied.

Rarity set down her drink. “What a wonderful goal! Why, I hope to be recognized as the most beautiful mare in Equestria, with the whitest coat and smoothest, silkiest fur.”

“Aww, what about everypony else?” Pinkie asked. “You should have one like me! Mine is to make everypony happy! Every single one!”

“Oh dear, I just want to make all my animals happy,” Fluttershy said. “They get so lonely around the holidays, I wish I could do more.”

“Wow, those are all really good,” Twilight stated.

“What’s yours?” Rarity inquired.

“Oh, well mine is to find a way to make Celestia happy. Next year I’ll find her the perfect gift! She’s been such an amazing mentor,” Twilight replied.

As they continued to debate their New Year’s resolutions, Discord sat eavesdropping outside the window of the library. “This is perfect,” Discord said. “I’ll help all their wishes come true and I daresay it’ll be quite entertaining! You should be careful what you make resolutions for!”

Discord snapped his fingers, vanishing in a flash of light.
