Equestria's Time
Chapter 2: Awakening
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe unknown stallion groans, slowly opening his eyes. Looking around him. Then looks at what’s in front of him. He was hugging a pillow. He questions himself as why he was hugging a pillow, then turns to blame his lack of memory, otherwise, he would’ve known why he was hugging a pillow. He could only assume he was a sleep-hugger.
He let go of the pillow, and sat up, looking at his surroundings. Wondering where the heck he’s currently staying at. Maybe he’s sleeping at his house? A friend’s place? He’s clueless at this point. Though his questions aren’t limited to his surroundings, once he sees the lavender unicorn standing by the door.
“Glad to see you’ve woken up.” She said.
“Bah!” The stallion yelled in surprise. “Um, thanks?” The he dumbfoundedly replied, “...Do I know you?”
“No, not really.” Twilight answered, “My friend and I found you lying in a hole after an odd thunderstorm.”
“I was lying in a hole?” The stallion asked.
“Well, you were unconscious.” Twilight pointed out, “I can only assume you were struck by one of those bolts of lightning earlier.”
"I was struck by lightning!?" The stallion shouted, "How!?"
"Not sure." Twilight replied, "But I can only assume it was the cause of your unconsciousness."
“I...was unconscious?” The stallion asked in curiosity, “Could...could that lightning bolt the reason why I can’t remember anything?”
“Huh?” Twilight cocked her head, “What do you mean you can’t remember anything?”
“I mean, I can’t remember anything.” The stallion replied, “The only thing I can remember clearly was some dream I had before waking up.”
“Well, maybe the lightning did strike you, and it looks like it got you pretty well for you to go unconscious, and memoryless.” Twilight recapped, “What happened in the dream?”
“Well...as far as I remember...nothing.” The stallion bluntly replied, “All I can remember was hearing someone call me by the name of ‘George’, and then I turn around, and I see something fading away. Though I couldn’t get a good look at whatever it was.”
“So...Do you think that could be your name?” Twilight thought aloud.
“Probably” The stallion shrugged, “I mean, I have no other guesses for my name, so let’s go with that.”
“Well, um, if you’d like, George, you could stay here and I could help try to recover your memory.” Twilight offered, “But, y’know, that’s your choice.”
"...You're offering...a total stranger a room in your home?" George asked.
"Well, uh...yeah." Twilight replied sheepishly, "You could say that."
"...I might as well, seeing how I can't remember anywhere to go, so I kinda have no other option." George noted.
“Exactly!” Twilight nods in agreement, “Oh, I almost forgot. My name is Twilight Sparkle.”
George looks at her for a couple of seconds, then smiled.
“Nice to meet ya, Twilight.” He cheerfully said, “Something tells me we’re gonna be great friends.”
“Well, let’s hope that ‘something’ is right.” Twilight adds, smiling, “So, you probably might be hungry, do you want something to eat?”
“Well...Sure, I guess.” George responds, “What do you have? I...don’t remember what I like to eat and what I don’t. So, I’ll just guess.”
“Well, um, come see for yourself.” Twilight replies, “I have lots of stuff to eat.”

“Well.” George smiled, “At least I know I like pancakes.”
“Don’t worry too much about it.” Twilight giggled, “I’ll help you get your memory back.”
“I sure hope so, Twilight.” George sighed, “I can’t remember anything.”
“...Anything?” Twilight asked, “Not even how to fly?”
“I can fly?!” George asked, his wings springing open, even a loud “POMF” was heard.
“Right...” Twilight said, “You don’t remember anything. That explains why you had so much trouble walking to the kitchen.”
‘Though...that doesn’t explain his lack of a cutie mark.’ Twilight thought, ‘I guess I can try to figure that out later.’
George looked at his wings, dumbfounded by the fact he even had them.
“Woah…” George murmured, “I have wings…”
“Looks like he’s finally awake, huh?”
Both George and Twilight turned to look at Rainbow Dash, who was finally awake from her nap.
“And it looks like you’re finally awake, too.” Twilight joked, “He woke up before you did.”
George, on the other hoof, seemed to have frozen in place, staring at Dash, lost in her Rainbow mane and amethyst eyes.
“...Uh. Why is he just...staring at me?” Dash awkwardly asked, “It’s getting kinda creepy.”
George slowly faded back into reality once he heard what Dash had said, shaking his head. “Uh. Sorry. Kinda got a bit...lost...in your mane. I-it’s very pretty...”
“Uh...Right…” Dash mumbled, “So anyways, have you figured out why he got struck by lightning?”
“Well, no.” Twilight bluntly replied, “George here can’t remember anything.”
“...What about how to fly?” Dash slowly asked, “I mean, he’s got wings...He should know how to use them.”
“Forgot that too.” George said, “I almost forgot how to even walk!”
“Wow.” Dash said, “That stinks.”
“Yeah.” George said, “Fortunately, Twilight and her friend found me and brought me here.”
“Yeah...I’m the friend she was talking about.” Dash sighed, “The name’s Rainbow Dash, by the way…”
George’s expression turned from a slight happiness to have someone helping him with his memory, to a total embarrassment from the fact he didn’t realize Dash being the friend Twilight was talking about all along.
“Oh!” He reacted, “Sorry…!” Lifting a hoof for a hoofshake, “My name’s George.”
“Huh. Weird name.” Dash commented, shaking George’s hoof “I just have one question for ya.”
“Um, sure, ask away…?” George tried to say confidently, but was already too nervous to try to calm his awkwardness.
“How do we know you’re not just faking the whole ‘no memory’ thing?”
“Right. Good question.” George replied, “Uh…You don’t, really... I guess you’d just have to believe me when I say I can’t remember anything.”
“Hm…” Dash pondered, “Alright, how about I ask you a few questions...And we see just how much you know. How’s that sound?”
“Not sure how this is gonna help, but, sure.” George answered.
“Alright...What’s 2 plus 2?”
The only thing Dash saw was Twilight’s facehoof, while George simply blinked as he heard the sound..
“...It’s four.” George answered correctly, “Erm, Rainbow Dash, I may have amnesia, but I’m not retarded.”
“Hm...Okay…Who’s the Mayor of Ponyville?”
“Dunno, where’s Ponyville, anyway?”
George and Dash hear another facehoof from Twilight, who already knows this is completely pointless.
“Yeah...” Dash concluded, “I still don’t believe him.”
“Rainbow, here’s an idea.” Twilight began, “How about you try and teach George to fly? Maybe if you see how bad he flies, that’ll be enough proof for you? How’s that sound?”
“Really?” Dash asked sarcastically, “You don’t think he could fake not being able to fly?”
“Could you?” Twilight asked.
…
“Thought so.”
“Hm…” Dash pondered, “Teaching George, if that’s his name...how to fly…Nah.”
“Really?” Twilight asked sarcastically, “Well then, I guess Equestria’s fastest flier can’t handle a little challenge. Oh well...I guess he could always ask Fluttershy to help teach him…”
“A little challenge?” Dash scoffed, “I can take on any challenge, besides, Fluttershy wouldn’t be able to teach George unless he spent a month with her so she’d actually talk to him!”
“Then, what do you say?” Twilight asked, “Will you do it?”
Dash stood for a moment, then groaned.
“Fine.” She muttered in defeat.
“Great!” George smiled, “...When do I start?”
“...I have no idea!”
