Equestria's Time
Chapter 6: Jake's Beginning
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“He’s...gone missing?”
“Apparently so. I’m just as surprised as you are, Jake.”
Yeah, you heard that name right. Name’s Jake. I’m George’s cousin, nothing serious.
Right now, I’m on the phone with Jason, George’s best (and only) friend. Though, I can hear a hint of worry on his voice. He’s telling me that George has gone missing, but...that’s impossible. He wouldn’t just...leave, would he? No, he wouldn’t. Yet Jason’s trying to tell me otherwise.
“But why would he just randomly go missing?” I ask, hearing a loud “What!?” from my mom. She was shocked of something, obviously. But...then again, she overreacts for everything.
“Dunno, that’s what I’m trying to figure out.” Jason replies.
“You don’t think he left on his own, do you?” I wonder.
“Doesn’t look like it. Then again, there’s no evidence that proves he left on his own, or evidence that he was kidnapped.”
“Then...What could have happened to him?”
“Jake. We have to go.” My mom calls out to me, with a concerned look on her face.
“I gotta go, Jason. I’ll take to you later.” I say, then hang up the phone.
I look at my mom, and that worried expression still doesn’t go away. What could be making her so upset? It’s almost like someone’s died or something.
Or someone...vanished...Nah.
“Where are we going?” I ask.
“Your aunt’s house.”

*Knock Knock Knock!*
“Come in.” George’s mom says softly. And we did, I could hear some conversation, but I didn’t really care, I had to find out for myself if George really did vanish.
I ran off to George’s room, only for my mom to call for me to stop, but I ignored her. I opened the door, and I see Jason standing there, looking around the room. He looks back at me and smirks.
“About time you showed up.” He says sternly, “Now do you believe me? Now do you finally believe George is gone?”
…
I was silent, I was unable to speak, unable to think. Those words kept echoing in my head.
My cousin was gone.
“Listen, Jake.” He begins his attempt to calm me, “I know you looked up to George as a role model, maybe even like a brother. I know it’s hard… But we’re gonna get through it. We’re going to get him back.”
“What if he doesn’t want to come back?” I ask, “What if he ran away on purpose?”
He looks at me, almost looking like he’s holding back some tears. And he sighs, softly, but I could still hear it.
“I...I don’t know…”
I frowned a bit, then I looked behind me. I see George’s PC. I see some text on the screen, and the rest of the screen is black.
“...What’s that?” I ask.
“Not sure.” He replies, walking off in an attempt to close it. “Whatever it is, I can’t close it. Nothing works.”
I walk up to the screen, and now I see the text reads “It’s time.”
“...Time for what?”

From what I’ve learned so far, George has only been gone for a couple of days, now. But...no one seems to know about his disappearance, there’s nothing to show where George could’ve gone off to.
Jason walks up to me with a curious face as I sit on a nearby bench outside the house. I can only wonder what he’s thinking inside that crazy head of his.
“Hey, you’re on summer break, right?”
I nod, wondering why he’s asking a question like that.
“Think you can stay here for an investigation?”
I froze for a moment, then I look at him curiously. “What...you mean, stay at my aunt’s house? And...investigate what?”
“Yeah. You could stay here, and we could team up and investigate on George’s disappearance.” He smirks.
“...Isn’t that was the police are for?” I ask sarcastically, not having a single clue of what he’s planning, “And...detectives too?”
“They won’t look hard enough, most of the ‘missing person’ cases here aren’t thoroughly investigated.” He explained, all I did was nod with every statement and explanation he had, seeing how I don’t know what goes on in this place.
To be fair, I did live a city or two away. So obviously things are different between here and home.
He smirks upon seeing my nod, and then his expression turns into a curious one.
“So...Will ya stay and help?”
...
“I’ll see what I can do.” I smirk. The response I gave caused a smile to form on Jason’s face.
Looks like him and I are gonna have lots of time together finding George. And we won’t stop until we do!
