James McKendick was a fighter pilot in the US Air Force. He watched as his friend died, knowing he could do nothing. He and his experimental jet were sucked into Equestria after using a high-powered thruster. As he slowly adapts, events begin to stir in Equestria, events nobody was prepared for. Words as simple as "smoke" trigger flashbacks in James's head, and he struggles to hold on. What he is holding on for, however, will reveal itself to him sooner than he thinks.
