It's been two months since you started dating her, Flash. All that time you've been talking with her and asking her questions. What makes this question so different from all those others? Get it together already and ask her! Flash Sentry was thinking this to himself while trying to muster up the guts to ask Twilight Sparkle if she would marry him. He had the proposal ring in the box in his saddle bag, a bright, new, and shiny diamond ring from Littmare Jewelers, the best ring a Royal Guardspony could buy. Now all he needed to do was ask her the four most important words of his entire life. Will you marry me? Four simple words. But, he could not muster up the courage to say them. He decided he had to today, though.
Twilight and Flash had been dating for exactly two months now. Most of the other Royal Guards in his group were always playfully teasing him about it, calling them "Flashlight" and saying that they "light up whenever they are together." He always just ignored them, because he was passionately in love with her. He would never let anyone get in the way of their love.
Today, they were taking a stroll through the Crystal Empire, seeing the sights of this magnificent and beautiful city. Right now, they were eating a lunch of berry pie and crystal corn on the cob. Flash was amazed at the taste of everything, and he saw Twilight was, too, judging on her facial expressions. However, he would not let the food take his concentration off his main goal.
After lunch, the couple went to the Crystal Castle. That was when Flash needed to muster up his courage. He was planing on proposing to her next to the Crystal Heart, directly under the castle. He figured that was the best place to do it because of the blatantly obvious symbol of love that would be right next to them. When they got there, he saw Princess Cadence, and she saw them. Twilight immediately ran over to her and did their little "Sunshine, Sunshine" dance. After that, Flash approached. Cadence said a greeting, but he did not respond. He was too busy concentrating on Twilight to respond.
Flash got down on his back knees and took out the ring. "Twilight," he started. "We've been dating for exactly two months now." He could see the start of a smile form on the sides of her mouth. "And I was wondering...," The start had formed into a giant smile of joy. She already knew what he was going to ask. "Twilight, will you marry me?"
At the last word, Flash brought out the diamond ring. Twilight was bouncing up and down, sort of like what one of her friends would do, the one Flash believed was named Pinkie Pie, and shouting, "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" He could see Cadence was smiling, too. He guessed she was happy for Twilight.
Once Twilight was done bouncing around, she squeezed him in the most tight embrace he had ever been in. He felt happy that his love for her was mirrored in her love for him.
. . . . .
Exactly one week later, thanks to the assistance of Princess Cadence, Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry got married at the same place he had proposed. All his family and friends attended, along with all of Twilight's. There were some ponies there he did not recognize. They were probably residents who had noticed something was going on and wanted to check it out. Anyway, Flash did not care. All he cared about was marrying the mare he loved and their future together.
They said their vows and agreed to live with each other for the rest of their lives. They kissed, and then they had a party. The party seemed familiar to the one after the wedding of Sinning Armor and Cadence, but that was alright with Flash. The party was great and took around three hours. After the party, everypony went home, and Twilight and Flash spent their first night together.
. . . . .
It was around two weeks later that Twilight realized something. She was gaining weight, and she had had a healthy diet the past weeks. She was confused, so she went to see a doctor. The doctor said that she was pregnant. "Oh," she replied, clearly shocked. "How long do you think it will be until I'll be a parent?"
"Hard to say, since it is very early on. You're only two weeks pregnant," said the doctor. "It should be around eight and a half months from now. Give or take a week or two, dependent on many unforeseeable factors."
"Good, a lot of time. I need to go home now," said Twilight, wanting to get home to see her husband. She was planing on having a stern talk with him, making this happen to her early on in their marriage. But, then she decided to just enjoy the blessing of being a mother in about nine months. She went home to talk about it, and they decided to take some seminars on child birth.
Three months later...
"Flash, the baby's coming!" yelled Twilight at the top of her lungs.
"Nonsense, Twily. It's only been about three months. The baby can't possibly be coming already," replied Flash.
"I don't think you know what it would feel like. I feel certain things that I believe indicate that the baby is coming. And very soon," said Twilight, trying to stay calm under the stress she was in.
"Alright, I'll take you to the hospital. Then we can prove that this is just a craving or one of those other things you feel while pregnant," said Flash, already going outside to get the carriage ready to take her to the hospital.
Once done setting up, he went back in the house and picked up Twilight to take her to the carriage. He put her in and rushed her to the hospital as fast as he could. The trip took about three minutes, and Twilight was convulsing in pain for half of that time. Flash was starting to get worried, since the baby could not possibly be ready to be born yet. Once there, he rushed her to the birthing center of the hospital.
She was laid out onto a bed so she could give birth, if that was truly the cause, and was hooked up to computers that would monitor her heart rate and things like that. Flash was standing right next to her, holding her hoof and trying to soothe her. "It'll be okay. In a few minutes, we'll find out this isn't the baby, and we can go home, and everything will be fine. In six months, we'll be back when the baby is actually ready to..."
Flash was cut off by an ear-piercing scream from Twilight, and, before they knew it, Twilight had calmed down and their baby was born. Their beautiful baby... flashlight?
"Flash, why did I just give birth to a flashlight?" asked Twilight, trying to stay calm under her stress.
"I don't know..." Then, something clicked in his mind as he remembered the name his co-workers had given the couple. He started to laugh. "Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I know! If you mix Flash Sentry with Twilight, then you get a flashlight! Ha ha ha ha!"
At that statement, Twilight became furious. She picked up the flashlight, stood up, and whacked Flash right in the back of the head. "Ow! What was that for?" asked Flash, but it was too late. Twilight had already walked out, with their flashlight, and she was mumbling something about how clueless men are to a woman's feelings and how she hated him for making that joke and being inconsiderate to her feelings.
