The Dark Guardians
A Friend's Betrayal
Previous ChapterTwilight looked back and forth between Fluttershy and the now awake Spike who was still rubbing his eyes. She was trying to find the right words to explain what Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were.
“Um… uh…. Spike, this isn’t real. You’re still dreaming.” She said, trying to trick him. Spike just looked at her with a look that stated that he wasn’t fooled at all by what she was saying.
“Really Twilight? Then how come I can touch everything in here?” Spike said as he poked and prodded everything in his line of vision. Before Twilight could say another word there was a whistling sound and soon Spike had a dart sticking out of his neck and he fell to the floor asleep.
“Sorry about that.” A pained voice said. The two mares looked and saw Rainbow Dash with a blowgun in her hand. Fluttershy gasped.
“Rainbow. You shouldn’t be standing. That leg won’t get better if you keep moving around.” She said as she approached her friend. Fluttershy gasped as she saw Rainbow’s leg was bleeding out worse than before.
“Come on Fluttershy it’s not that bad. I’ve had worse scars on my body. Remember that time in Las Pegasus? That was some nasty stuff-”
“Rainbow don’t try and lie to me please? I know when you lie.” Fluttershy said as she tried to force Rainbow back into the bed but the cyan pegasus was going to have none of it at all.
“No. I need to get to Chrysalis. She’s next on our inspection list.” Rainbow said as she tried to walk out. But then she winced as a sharp pain shot through her leg, sending her onto her back.
“See? Your body won’t let you move either. Just please lay down?” Fluttershy pleaded. Rainbow sighed and appealed to Fluttershy’s wishes and got back into her bed. “Thank you.” Fluttershy looked over her body and soon saw that the wound on her leg was starting to get infected but slowly. She reached over and pulled out some herbs and medicine she had in stock.
“Rainbow, this might sting a bit.” Fluttershy warned as she grabbed the rubbing alcohol and poured it onto a cotton swab. When the swab touched the wound, Rainbow shrieked in pain as she clenched her leg.
“CELESTIA ABOVE THAT HURTS LIKE TARTARUS!”
“Sorry but it’s to make sure the infection doesn’t spread through the rest of your body.” Fluttershy said as she patted the area again causing Rainbow to grunt this time.
“T-thanks Fluttershy.” Rainbow said as she nodded off. Fluttershy smiled and took the old bandages off and replaced them with some new ones. She then turned her attention back to Twilight.
“So Chrysalis is next?” The lavender mare asked.
“Yes. But I’ll go. Rainbow isn’t in the right condition to find her. Could you stay here and watch her for me?” The pegasus asked.
“Sure. What are friends for?” She asked, making Fluttershy smile.
“Thank you.” Fluttershy said happily as she tucked her friend in. As she put her gear on her she noticed the still sleeping drake and picked him up and placed him back in the room. The yellow ninja then headed back out into the night but didn’t notice the new figure in the shadows who soon snuck in.
Forgive me my friends but Twilight is essential to my sensei’s plan… I cannot allow my sister to pay for my weakness. The figure said as she snuck towards the dojo.
Meanwhile, somewhere on the outskirts of Ponyville, a figure was walking down a dirt path. The figure’s face was however covered by a black hood. Armed to the figure’s side was a small dagger that was stained orange with aged blood. He continued to walk down the road towards his destination. He planned on seeing an old friend and nothing was going to stand in his way.
“HEY OLD TIMER!” Except maybe an idiot thug and his dumb ass friends. The figure sighed and turned only to see about four or five thugs. What a shame… and here I thought this was going to take long. The figure thought before he smiled towards the thugs.
“What’s so happy to you old man? The fact that-” One of the thugs started… until a throwing star sliced through the air and the thug’s throat, splashing the ground with his crimson blood.
“WHAT THE-” Another thug started to shout when the cloaked figure moved at an impressive speed and sliced through the thug’s stomach with his dagger, spilling his guts like a fish. Before even one more thug could move the figure suddenly dashed in between them at incredible speeds and soon stopped in front of the leader. He flicked his dagger and got some of the blood off as he slowly put the knife back in it’s sheath. The moment it clicked with it three new corpses fell to the ground in pieces.
“Hmm. Now…. to find her.” The figure said as he continued on the path.
Back at the dojo, Twilight sat next to Rainbow Dash as she laid in her bed. She kept her leg uncovered so that it would be able to breathe and heal better.
“Rainbow I hope you get feeling better soon. I don’t think I can handle… wait you only have a hurt leg.” Twilight said as she went from concerned to deadpan in about ten seconds. As she was sitting next to her friend she failed to hear the sound of rushing wind as something rushed by her. By the time she registered the cold rush somepony had already locked there arm around her throat and a hand over her mouth. The weird feeling over her mouth told Twilight that both hands were gloved. She wanted to scream but then she felt a point touch her throat.
“I wouldn’t let out a peep if I were you.” A deep voice said. “Now, you’re going to come with me or I paint your friend and this room crimson with your blood.” The voice threatened. Twilight looked to Rainbow and then at the point and then nodded. “Very well and I really am sorry about this next part.” The voice said before hitting a pressure point and knocking Twilight out. The figure sighed as it put Twilight over it’s shoulder and started to walk out of the dojo. Before it could leave, however, the pony then saw a sleeping Spike in his room. The figure simply moaned as it continued on. But then, a hard object slammed into its back, sending her forward and drop Twilight. The figure quickly shot up and saw Rainbow Dash with a kunai in her hand.
“Leave… my friend… alone.” The blue mare growled.
“Egh… quite impressive descendant of Riochi. I figured you were still asleep but your skills were far more impressive than I give you credit.”
“I have a talent for faking being asleep. Heck you should stick around and hear how I spend most of my days snoring on a cloud.” Rainbow smirked as she tightened her grip on the kunai.
“Be that as it may I have a mission and I can’t allow anypony to stand in my way so do forgive me.” The ninja said as it pulled out a sword.
“Well then… looks like I’m makin’ sushi!” Rainbow said as she charged forward. She swung wildly with her kunai but the swings were blocked, making sparks from the clashing metal go into the air. The ninja started to swing and Rainbow blocked all of the quick strikes. In the middle of a swing, Rainbow grabbed the ninja’s arm and twisted it, making the sword drop as the sound of cracking bones were heard.
“AAAAAHHHH!!” The ninja cried and now Rainbow could confirm her earlier suspicions that the ninja was in fact a mare. Before she could keep her down the ninja kicked Rainbow in the gut and then punched her bad leg. Not enough to break it but just so she could feel it.
“AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!” Rainbow cried as she gripped her leg in pain. The ninja smiled under her mouthguard and tried to wrap her own injured arm up in a makeshift armrest. Just as she finished Rainbow launched herself at her and grabbed the face mask.
“Now to see who you really are!” Rainbow said as she used all of the strength in her hand. Then as she pressed onto it, the mouthguard shattered like glass. But when the face was completely revealed, Rainbow felt as if her heart had stopped beating.
“R-Rarity?!”
“Sorry about this darling.” Rarity said as she threw a dart at Rainbow that hit her arm. The drug from the dart was potent enough that she soon felt dizzy and collapsed onto the floor soon after.
