Winter is viewed as a time of darkness and despair for most, but others appreciate the beauty that it brings, the longest and most unforgivable cycle of seasons. While most are warm and snug others aren't quite so lucky. In the park of a small town, a small foal was huddled up under a park bench covered with torn rags she had found shifting through trash cans. Winter was her favorite yet most hated season. She remember when she still had a family, her and her parents would go outside and just watch the snowflakes flutter to the ground. Years have past since her parents have past and she lost everything. Her family is gone, her relatives all refused to take her, her friends have all abandoned her, she has no one but herself. Despite the bitter chill she enjoyed the winter, every night with snow fall she would watch the flakes fall to the ground. She remembered all the times her family would spend together in winter.
"Do you need any help darling?" asked a mare with a bright purple coat and a white mane with orange highlights.
"No I've got it mom," a young foal squeaked while slipping her last snow boot.
"Well look at little Snowflake growing up so fast," an elderly pony said pulling some bread out of the old oven.
"You all ready?" a large stallion with a warm look in his eye's asked the little filly.
"Yea dad let's go!" the child ran out the door jumping into the first pile of snow she spotted.
The father and mother shared a smile with each other before joining their daughter in the snow. They named her after snow, the small town was renown for their heavy snow fall and long winters but everyone their seemed to enjoy it.
"Lets build a snow pony!" the younger Snowflake said rolling up a small ball of snow.
The three worked hard on the snow pony and in the end the results showed dedication. After a long day in the snow they all went inside. The three sat down at the dinning table for some lunch, the elderly pony walked over to the table and began to speak.
"So Harold how where the results?" asked the elderly pony with a slightly worried look flashing across her face.
"Well....." the stallion trailed off not finishing the sentence.
"Dahlia? W-what about you?" the old pony turned to the mother. All she did was look down without saying a word. All of this confused the young Snowflake.
Harold suddenly burst out with a fierce fit of heavy coughs tumbling out of his chair.
"I miss you mom and dad," said the foal crawling out from under the bench. She stared up to the sky as snow fluttered around her covering everything including her in the fragile crystals. She walked around and sat on the bench, no one else was in the park just like normal. She just stared up saying nothing and thinking of nothing. She shook violently the chilled air was a bone deep cold. She didn't mind, the cold never really bothered her.
After a few minutes she got up and began to walk around the park. It was dark lite up by a few light post.
"Maybe they'll come back some day, some day," the young filly muttered to herself as a tear streaked down her face.
Snow began to cover her snow white coat and land in her messy light blue and white hair. Snowflake looked around her to see white flurries every where, this brought a smile to her face. She cleared her throat and began to do something that brought joy to her empty life, singing.

choking down pain with nothing to gain,
countless dead wishes, countless dead dreams nothing beautiful is what is seems♫ ♪
She looked up to the dark sky, the snow had not yet let up and neither had the temperature or rather lack of.
♫ ♪ I am so happy I am so sad how did life go from good to so bad,
frozen tears well up inside but when you've got no one there's nothing to hide,
with a chill that fills the air there's no time to hide no time to ask why we all cry ♫ ♪
The freezing temperatures have caused her to feel numb all over, her blanket can't to to much.
♫ ♪ Everyone's gone what have I done wrong,
leaving behind life piece by piece,
with every question locked up inside why all the torment and agony♫ ♪
She laid down on the bench this winter was colder than any other she hade been through.
♫ ♪ With this sadness and sorrow I won't see tomorrow,
leaving this life of agony,
with my last breathe I'll just sing this song
leaving behind no memories♫ ♪
She was trying very hard to keep warm, as more and more snow covered her in it's ice blanket she began to lose feeling in her limps. A cold icy wind lashed he across the face, it felt terrible. What was even worst is that she knew her fate and that their was nothing she could do to change it. She tried singing but the roaring wind kept drowning it out along with her lack of breath. Things began to close in around her she couldn't move, she couldn't breath. She looked to the sky to see a snowflake fall in front of her, not like any other snowflake she had ever seen it didn't look like a snowflake, it was a jagged as if someone tried to make a snowflake blindfolded. Yet it was somehow different in a good way, she smiled at it's truly unique shape and closed her eye's taking her last breath.
She knew that life was going to be better soon.
