I Will Catch You.........by Stormy DawnChaptersPlease Don't Do That......Muffins Are The Best Thing In The World....... Right?Dinky, The Detective More Than FriendsPlease Don't Do That......Derpy stared down at the cliff before her. A tear streamed down her face. She wandered into the Everfree Forest, and found the highest cliff. She had already tripped and fell down a steep hill into a thorn bush, causing her to have a bunch of scratches and a sprained ankle. She had a rope wrapped around her mid-section, to keep her wings closed. As you would've guessed, Derpy was intending on committing suicide. She had enough of the teasing and laughing. She just didn't know what went wrong. She tried to tell them that she didn't want her eyes like that, but the teasing and the pain continued. She had a unicorn filly, named Dinky. She knew Dinky would be devastated if Derpy wasn't there for her, but she couldn't live like this anymore. The worst had consumed her. By now she was crying harder. Nobody liked her. They would call her useless, annoying, dumb, strange, stupid, lame or a miss fit. Some ponies would say she looked or sounded weird. Once, she was trying to befriend a stallion when he lashed out at her. He said he hated her, and wanted her to leave and never see her again. She took one last breath as a tear ran down her wet face and leaped of the edge of the cliff. She started falling, but soon stopped, and she noticed the ground wasn't getting any closer. She looked up to see a bright pink hoof gripping on to her own grey one. "Derpy, what are you doing?" A calm voice asked. Derpy looked up to see Pinkie Pie. But instead of smiling, she had tears streaming down her face and she looked sad. "Please, don't do that...." She said. Derpy's eyes went slightly straiter. "I........." Before Derpy could say anything, she bursted into tears. Pinkie hoisted Derpy back up onto the cliff and let her cry into her chest. "Shhhhhhh...." Pinkie said as she stroked Derpy's mane. She looked back up at Pinkie with her wall-eyed stare. She sniffled. "I'm sorry, Pinkie. I-I" She started sobbing again. She felt light headed, as the cuts on her body were dripping more blood now. "P-Pinkie, I don't.... feel so.... good..." She said. The last thing she saw was Pinkie's warming smile, before she went out cold. Pinkie frowned, and somehow got Derpy on her back. She slowly departed from the cliff, into the depths of the Everfree Forest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pinkie was hearing a great deal of different noises, and was becoming scared. She felt the slumbering creature on her back stir. She twisted her head around like an owl. "How ya doin', Derpy?" She asked, in her usual exited manner. "Tired." Derpy responded. She looked more pale than before, so Pinkie quickened her pace. They had already passed Zecora's hut, which was near the exit of the forest. She spotted a cockatrice and froze in her spot. "Derpy, do not move." She whispered. "Wh-" She began. "Shhhh!" Pinkie said. The cockatrice wandered onto the road and inspected Pinkie. Pinkie was holding her breath and sweat beads were forming on her forehead and the back of her neck. It gobbled once, and scurried into the bushes. Pinkie let out her breath, and her purple face turned back to pink. "What was that?" Derpy asked, weakly. Pinkie twisted her head around and their noses were almost touching. "That was a cockatrice! If you look into its eyes, it will turn you to stone!" Derpy looked frightened. "O-oh, I wouldn't want that to happen." She responded. "I know! That's why I told you to be quiet and not to move!" She said. "I'll get you to Sugarcube Corner and bandage you up!" She added. "Ok..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ They reached Sugarcube Corner after at least two hours of walking. Pinkie wasn't in such good shape either, considering she carried basically her own weight on her back for that long. She gently dumped Derpy onto her bed and collapsed on the floor. She took a breather for five minutes, and left the room to retrieve a first aid kit. As Pinkie placed bandages on Derpy's cuts she asked Derpy a question. "Why did you try to commit suicide?" Pinkie asked. Derpy's ears drooped "I couldn't take it anymore!" She cried. "Ponies were teasing me, hurting me, making fun of me!" She continued. "It's always been this way." She mumbled the last part. Due to Pinkie's amazing hearing, she heard the last little bit. "Even when you were a filly?" She asked. "Yeah. Everyday, other fillies and colts would hurt me and make fun of me." Her eyes started to well up. "And-and when I got home, my parents treated me teribbly. My dad was always drunk and they treated me like I was stupid. One day, they gave up. They said 'NOBODY WANTS A UNBRIGHT FILLY LIKE YOURSELF!' My father dragged me to the front door and just thee me outside and slammed the door. I walked away and found Cherilie. She took me in until I grew up. When I left for the outside world, I thought there would be no more mean ponies. Turns out there still was." She started full on crying again. "That doesn't sound happy at all!" Derpy sniffled. "It wasn't." She stated the obvious. As soon as she stopped sobbing, she fell asleep on Pinkie's lap. She gently lifted Derpy's head onto her pillow and layed down beside her. Derpy didn't have the most pleasant of dreams. She had dreams of colts and fillies making fun of her eyes. A single tear escaped her golden eyes as she slept unfitfuly. Muffins Are The Best Thing In The World....... Right?Derpy woke up beside a sleeping pink pony. She squealed and the pony, better know as Pinkie Pie, started to move. She turned towards Derpy and smiled. "Hey, Derpy! How'ya doin'?!" She asked, sounding as energetic as ever. "Um, fine?" Pinkie giggled. "What? Don't laugh at me!" Pinkie stopped giggling. "Oh, Derpy! I wasn't laughing AT you! Well, sort of, but not in a bad way!" She smiled. "Do you even remember what happened last night?" Derpy shivered. "I, uh- only remember, jumping off a c-cliff, a-and you saving me." She started sobbing. "I just don't know what went wrong!" She said through her sobbing. "It's ok, everypony makes mistakes!" Derpy looked into her baby blue eyes. "But I tried to KILL MYSELF. That's a mistake I couldn't have fixed if you didn't catch me!" Pinkie stroked her mane. Derpy lowers her head back onto the pink mare's chest and started lightly sobbing again. "Pinkie, why did you catch me? Why were you there?" She asked. "Nobody likes me. I didn't think somebody would save me." Pinkie lifted Derpy's chin up until she was looking at Pinkie. "Derpy, I care about you. I couldn't live without you, you're my favourite mailmare! For Celestia's sake! You're a hay of a good friend to hang out with!" She exclaimed. Derpy looked down. "Thank you, Pinkie, i-it's really means a lot." Pinkie smiled. "You're welcome! Now, what would you like for breakfast?" Derpy looked up. "Muffin?" She said in the most adorable voice you might ever hear. Pinkie giggled. "Of course, Derpy!" She bounced out of her bedroom. Derpy followed her out with a normal walking pace. "What kind?" "Lemon Surprize!" Derpy said bouncing up and down. Pinkie giggled. "Ok!" Pinkie took the muffin out of the glass showcase and hoofed it to Derpy. "Thank you, Pinkie!" "No problem-o!" She said. Mmmm, muffins are the best thing in the world! She thought. She looked into Pinkie's cheerful blue eyes. They seemed to shine, like crystals. Right? She finished her thought. "Derpy, uh..." She couldn't tell if she was looking at her, something else, or Both. "Are you okay? Is there something on my face?" She went cross-eyed to see if there was. "I don't think there is!" Derpy mentally shook her head. Gaa! Derpy, snap out of it! "Y-yeah! I'm okay!" She smiled awkwardly. "Oh, okay, you just seemed a little dazed out there." As Derpy finished her muffin, an uncomfortable silence hushed over the room. "Uh, I'm gonna go get a muffin for myself!" Pinkie quickly said, to avoid awkward silence. "O-ok." Derpy said. "What was that all about?" She mumbled quietly to herself. "Hey, Derpy! I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today?" She asked, while getting her own cupcake. Derpy's ears flattened. "You want to hang out with me?" She asked. "Sure!" Pinkie answered. "Well, okay, if you really want to." Derpy said. "Of course I want to!" Pinkie said. "Ok..." They walked out the door of Sugarcube Corner and into the busy streets of Ponyville. Pinkie hopped up and down as Derpy seemed to shrink behind her. She looked up at Pinkie. She had a broad smile on her face. Who knew a brave, carefree pony would hang out with an insecure pony like herself. "Wanna go swimming?" Pinkie asked. "Uh-" Derpy started. "C'mon!" Pinkie said. "Pinkie, I don't know how to swim." Derpy said. "Really?" Pinkie asked. "No..." Derpy said. "I'll teach you!" Pinkie said. "Really? Yay!!!" She said, as her wings fluttered her up into the air. "Thank you so much!" She said, as she grounded herself. "No problem!" She said. "Let's go!" Derpy giggled as she followed her new friend to the pond. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ After a morning of swimming and excitement, Derpy and Pinkie Pie were looking for a diner for lunch when a stallion spoke up. "Hey look! It's Derpy!" The stallions voice changed when he spoke Derpy's name. "Haha! Run into any poles lately?" Derpy looked down sadly. "Try not to destroy town hall again, we actually need it, unlike you!" Derpy started sobbing. "You guys don't know how much that hurts." Derpy sobbed. "Really? I thought you'd be used to it by now!" Derpy collapsed on the ground and began crying. Pinkie couldn't believe what she was seeing. "Stop it." One of the stallions looked at her with a surprised look. "What are you doing with this loser, Pinkie Pie?" He asked. "Guys, she may look dumb on the outside, but inside, she's full of potential, and you need to see past her outside." Pinkie finished. She looked down a the ball named Derpy. It uncurled and Pinkie gave her a hoof up. Pinkie gave a warm smile to her, and Derpy soon returned one. She looked at the stallions with an unimpressed look. "Get out of here." "Ok, geez, Pinkie." He said as he followed his friends. Derpy leaped onto Pinkie in a huge hug. "Thank you!" She said. She looked up at Pinkie and met her beautiful baby blue eyes. Pinkie looked down at Derpy and met her amazing golden eyes. They stared at each other for at least 10 seconds. "Uh..." Derpy mumbled. They both blushed and looked away. "Do you want me to walk you home? Dinky is probably wondering where you are." Pinkie asked. Derpy's eyes widened. "Dinky!!" Derpy cried as she ran towards her house. "I'll take that as a no?" Pinkie yelled out in Derpy's general direction. Dinky, The Detective Dinky, The Detective "Mom, were are you going?" The purple unicorn filly asked. "I'm gonna go hang out with somepony." Derpy answered. Dinky gave her mother a questioning look. "Again?" Derpy looked at her. "Of course! It's fun!" Dinky sighed. "Okay... Just don't spend half the day on this 'hang out' thing again." Derpy smirked. "And since when did you make the rules around here?" Derpy playfully asked. Dinky glared at her. "Okay, okay! You've convinced me!" She added playfully. "I'm going crusading today, I hear Babs is gonna be in town!" Dinky said. "Okay, just be careful, you know how dangerous Scoots can get." Dinky sighed. "I know, mom." Dinky moaned. "Okay, just thought I'd make sure. I'm heading out, have fun!" Derpy excitedly said. "'Kay, mom! Bye!" Dinky said as she finished her oatmeal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dinky attached her crusading cape to her neck and levitated her saddlebags onto her back. For such a young age, Dinky was extremely lucky to have magical abilities. She dashed out the door and headed for the clubhouse, located in Sweet Apple Acres. Dinky was greeted by Scootaloo when she arrived. "Hey, Dinky! Ready for some crusading?!" "Am I? Of course!" Dinky answered. "Great! We've got Babs here!" Scootaloo added. "Yesss, five crusaders!" Dinky enthused. "Oh, hey Dinky!" Sweetiebelle said as she walked out of the clubhouse with Applebloom and Babs Seed. "Hi guys!" Dinky said. "Hi Babs! Long time, no see!" Dinky said. "Right back at ya!" Babs answered. "Alright, I've got a good idea for a cutie mark!" Dinky said. "What do ya got in mind?" Applebloom asked. "Detectives." Dinky answered. The four other fillies exchanged glances. "On what?" Scootaloo asked. "My mom." Dinky suggested. "Your mom? That sounds a lot like snoopin' to me!" Applebloom said. "Yeah, but lately, she's been really cheerful, but right before that, she was super mopey! And she started hanging out with 'somepony' right around when she started feeling happier! I want to know who she's hanging out with and why she's so happy all the sudden!" The fillies exchanged glances again. "I guess we could give it a try." Sweetiebelle said. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Derpy and Pinkie bounced along a path in laughter. "So what do you want to do today?" Pinkie asked, unaware of the five fillies hiding behind a bush nearby. "Pinkie Pie? A shocked Dinky said. "Really?" Scootaloo's ear heard whispering and snickering from nearby. "Hey girls, look!" She said as she pointed her hoof towards two full grown stallions. They were whispering to each other and snickering. They were looking in the general direction of the pegasus and earth pony. "Can you hear that?" "Dinky poked her hoof in her ear and then took it back out to see if she could hear anything. "Yeah, I think so!" Dinky said quietly. "Why would someone like Pinkie Pie want to spend time with somepony like Derpy?" The one stallion asked. "Yeah, she totally doesn't deserve it." The other stallion answered. Dinky gasped. "Ponies talk about my mother like that behind her back?" The two stallions continued talking. "I still can't believe Pinkie lashed out at us when we were making fun of her eyes yesterday!" "Yeah, I know!" The stallion agreed. "And right in front of her?" Dinky added. "No wonder she was so miserable before!" Dinky said. "But that still doesn't explain why she left the house one night, and arrived back at home at 3:00 in the afternoon, the next day!" "They're on the move!" Babs reported. The five fillies slowly tip toed (what are toes?) behind them and leaped behind a bush, closer to the two friends. "Are you feeling better, after what happened?" Pinkie asked. "Yes, definitely! I still can't believe I tried to commit suicide!" Derpy cheerfully responded. "You've really helped me, Pinkie. Thank you." Derpy added. "Daw, don't mention it!" Pinkie answered. Dinky's world crashed down around her. "M-my mom tried to commit suicide?" Dinky'a eyes welled up. "How could she? "Calm down, Dinks. Tha good thang is that she's okay now." Applebloom comforted her. "Yeah, I'm with Applebloom on this one, but I was still pretty shocked!" "They're on the move!" Babs said again. "Yeah, you girls go on ahead..... I need a minute or two." Dinky said as she breathed heavily. "O...kay. We'll be back soon!" Babs said as they ran off. The four crusaders left followed the mares to a pond. They jumped in the pond together and swam for at least five minutes before one of the fillies said something. "Are they ever going to talk?" Scootaloo asked, out of boredom. As the girls watched, they noticed Derpy look into Pinkie's eyes, turn away and placed her hooves on her cheeks. The next thing they noticed was Pinkie doing the same. "Derpy, you're such a great friend!" Pinkie randomly said. "Oh" Sweetiebelle said. "My" Babs continued. "Gosh!" Applebloom finished. "We have to tell Dinky!!!" Scootaloo cried. Dinky was about to head to where her friends were, when they came running to her. "Dinky, Dinky!!" Sweetiebelle's voice cracked. "You will not believe what we found out about Pinkie and your mom!!!" Scootaloo said. More Than FriendsSomething has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
