Hank and John Green were video bloggers on YouTube with their channel 'Vlogbrothers' having a massive online following of 'Nerdfighters'. At VidCon, a massive convention of video bloggers and YouTubers, a Nerdfighter comes up to them with matching fedora hats. The hats are infused with magic and send them to Equestria, turning them into ponies. Now Hank and John must either decide to stay in Equestria, leaving behind their wives, jobs, and lives, or return to Earth, never to come back.
