Chapters Furball was sitting in class, bored out of his mind. He was also worried, because he was getting bullied more and mkre, and didn't want to leave so it could happen. He couldn't wait to get back home.
'And this is why the pegasi and earth ponies split up.' The bell rang. 'Remember, tomorrow we have a test on this! Study study study!' Ms. Cherilee said to her students.
As he was getting out of school, Furball was thinking about how he would approach this.
'How will I tell them? Mom will be considerate, but I don't know about Dad. I really hope they won't hate mebecause of this.
He was walking home, since after today, he can't use his wings. He was having a peaceful walk, until some bulles from school followed him and stopped him
"'Sup Furby, what're you doing?"
"Trying to get home, Derange, what does it look like?"
The three laughed at him.
"Uh-oh, somepony's a tough guy now! What ever will I do?" He teased. Furball was already tired of him and just wanted to go home. He knew that that wouldn't happen. They kept pushing him around, until he dropped is stuff.
"Hey, take his bag!"
"No stop, I need that!"
"And that's exactly why we're taking it." They kept tossing it around. Back and forth, the bag went. He didn't even bother trying to get it. He knew his attempts weren't worth it. He readied his wings, and flew up, grabbed the backpack, and he flew as fast as he could back home.
"Hey, we're not done with you!" They yelled. "Go get him." The two pegasi flew in the air as fast as they could. They knew they'd never catch him.
"Get back here, cross-breed!" They yelled to him.
In the sky, it seemed just as busy as on ground. Pegasi flying everywhere, alot of clouds, it was hectic for Furball. He was trying his hardest not to crash or hit anyone, and for him, that's hard. He was a cross-breed. he can go two times faster than the regular pegasus. But just because he was fast, didn't mean he would be able to outfly them. He noticed they flew 90° upward. He stopped and turned around. They were gone. He knew that wouldn't be the last time he'd them, and it wouldn't be. He quickly flew to ground and flew back to the cottage. He made his way through the door before he flew to his room like a jet.
"Spike, this is the third time he's come home and flown straight to his room. I think you should talk to him." Fluttershy said to Spike, who was enjoying a Sapphire sandwich.
"Alright I will, after this sandwich."
"Now Spike." She said sternly. He knew she meant business.
"Fine." Spike got up and walked to Furballs room.
"Hey Furball, It's me. Can I come in?"
"Nope. I really don't want you too."
"Well then, it's a good thing I'm your father." Spike said entering he room. Furball sat up.
"Well are you gonna tell m ewhats wrong or what?"
"What."
"Hilarious, Fur. Seriously, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Well, maybe I'd believe that, if you don't come home everyday the same way, so eager to see us." Spike said sarcastically.
"Fine. These bullies keep following me home and I can't stop them."
"Oooh. Bullies. Do they make fun of you for being a cross-breed?"
"That's a start. They just do it because it's fun I guess. Maybe because I'm new, or because I'm vulnerable, I don't know. All I know is that they won't stop."
"Have you tried telling anybody?"
"Teachers all the time. They don't listen."
Spike paid close attention to Furball. He cared abut his crisis, and was relly angry.
"What happened to your wing?"
"I uhh... fell."
"Furball..."
"I was pushed down stairs by them."
"Are you kidding me? And teachers don't do anything? I'm going to school tomorrow. I'm going to talk to your teachers about this."
"Dad, please don't do anything. You're going to embarrass me."
"If i start embarrassing you, stop me. I'm only going to be helpng you."
"No Dad, you can't help me. I'm different and this is why I get bullied. Because I'm a cross-breed. I'm just a joke to everypony. I wish i was dead."
"Really, Furball? Dead? I'm not going to let you sit here and talk down like this. You're not different. Look at me boy." Spike said sternly, turning Furballs head towards him.
"You're not different. You're just like everypony else. You were born from two loving parents, and you're unique in your own way. Yeah, Papa Spike is starting to sound cheesy, but I'm going to tell you right now, ponies will tell you it's going to get better? It's not. It's not unless you make it better."
"Thanks for the words of encouragement." He said sarcastically. "Can you leave now?"
"Fine, I'll get out of your scales. But Fur," Furball looked up. "Promise me you'll talk to me about things please. You're my only son. We should be closer."
"Okay Dad." These words he actually listened to. He wanted to trust his Dad more, but he was nervous.
And he should be.
It's been four years since Rarity turned Spike down. Four years since Spike resorted to cutting during his depression. Four years since he and Fluttershy got closer. And four years since Spike and Fluttershy got together. Nopony really realizes how fast four years can go by. It could have been wasted away, or spent well. Alot has happened in that time, too. Spike and Fluttershy got married, and so did Rainbow Dash and Soarin. Rarity finally has somepony to call her own for now, Thunderlane, they've been together for awhile now. Caramel has been sending mixed signals to Pinkie Pie, and she's noticed. Applejack and Twilight are together. There are some ponies who don't accept it, but Twilight's a princess, so they can't o anything. Spike hasn't cut ONCE in that time. And now, there might even be more news.
"Good morning, Spikey." Fluttershy greeted to the newly awoken dragon.
"Good morning, 'Shy."
"Thank you for the very good night, darling."
"Anytime you want, babe. And hey, since they doctor told us we're compatible, why not.?"
"You were amazing, Spike. And, we're gonna be parents!"
"Yes! I finally get to be a dad. I hope it's a boy to play games with."
"Well I hope it's a girl, so I can have a daughter who I can girl things with, since Rarity has been investing alot more time in projects and Thunderlane."
"Well, do you want to think of some names?" Spike asked.
"Yes, actually. For girls, there's Flower, Screwball, and I can't really think of anything else."
"And for a boy, we could name him Furball, Emerald, for his eyes and/or scales, or Basher."
"Basher sounds scary and I think your stomach is telling you to say Emerald."
"Hey, I thought of everything here from my mind, but now I'm hungry."
"Of course you are, silly." She kissed him on the cheek.
"Hey, let's go out for breakfast. My treat."
"No, it's okay. I don't mind cooking."
"No, 'Shy, I don't mind. Come on, I even have a restauraunt in mind."
"Hey wait, atleast let me get ready first!"
"Okay okay. Be quick though, I'm excited."
"I'll try."
Some time passed, and sooner or later they were at the restaurant, The Breakfast Klub. It was a small, cozy litle place, not too far from the cottage, but off the beaten path from Ponyville. When they were inside at a table, they had ordered their food.
"I'll have three chcocolate chip snd sapphire pancakes, with a side of four toast, two eggs, and a small plate of home fries, with a large glass of orange juice." Spike ordred. The waitress looked at him with wide eyes, but then realized he was serious. The look on her face was horrified. She turned to Fluttershy, prepared for the worst.
"I'll just have a pancake, some home fries and a small glass of orange juice." The waitress looked extremely confused, but said nothing except, "Your order will be here soon" in a frightened tone.
"So Spike, when should we tell them the news?"
"What news?"
"That we're going to be parents, Spike!"
"Oh yeah, well, I think waitng to see the ultrasound would be good."
"But that's atleast a week from now!"
"And?"
"I want to find out now."
"Well, you could do one of those pregnancy tests that work two days after, but you'd have to wait until tomorrow."
"Oh, okay. Hey our drinks!"
"Here are your drinks. Your food will be here shortly."
"Okay, thanks." They said in unison.
Other than basic small talk, it was quiet, until the food came. When the food arrived, it was delivered by a different pony. He alwas taller with a white coat.
"Pancake and home fries?"
"That would be me. Umm thanks."
The waitor took one look at the patiently waiting Spike.
"I'm going to take a wild guess this gigantic order is yours, sir."
"Thank you, sir."
As they were eating there meal, they were getting glares from different ponies. One couple sat there and watched, while another was pointing and mumbling somehing. Spike started to feel uncomfortable. Fluttershy could see him tense up. This is what always brought out the timid Fluttershy.
"Spikey, just calm down. Let's just enjoy our meal an we can leave."
"I hate when this happens." Spike grumbled.
"I know you do. Just don't pay attention to them."
"I'm trying, but it's like I feel them staring. I can't even enjoy a meal at a restaurant with my wife without someone staring." He said loudly so everyone else could hear. They all became shocked and some were afraid for Fluttershy.
"That's her husband?" He heard one say.
"She married a monster!" Said another.
"They shouldn't allow monsters like him into our restaurants where we eat!"
That was the last straw for Spike. Luckily, Fluttershy was fast enough to react first.
"We're leaving. Spike, pay so we can leave." Fluttershy said to Spike, annoyed.
Spike left 50 bits on the table and they made their way to the door. They were about to leave, when suddenly;
"It's about time! I wanted to enjoy my meal without some monster near me."
This time, Spike reacted first. Without even looking at him, Spike gritted through his teeth;
"Is there a problem, sir?"
"Yeah, you! Things like you don't belong here! Go back to where you came!"
"He was born here in Ponyville! Leave him alone!" Fluttershy yelled.
"Shut up you dumb broad! You married a dragon! You have no right to speak!"
Spike moved so fast, it would rival speeds that of Rainbow Dash. He ran to the colt and lifted him up by his collar.
"Listen, sir.
"Put me d-"
"Answer my question and I will. Am I fucking clear?"
"C-Crystal."
"Good. let's go Fluttershy." He dropped the man in his seat and stormed out the door. The manager apologized to Fluttershy, and told her they can have a free meal here next time they come. When she left and got o Spike, he was extremely angry.
"Spike, I'm sorry this happened."
"I don't know why you're apologizing. It was me who wanted to treat you. Neither of us knew somepony like him would be there. I'm just upset it wasn't as romantic as I hoped it would be."
"Spike, it may not have been romantic to you, but I thought it was really romantic of you to stand up for me like that, and that's all that matters." She kissed Spike, who in response hugged her and kissed back.
"Thanks hun. I still think, that even though I was so built up in rage, that chocolate chip pancake was awesome."
"Oh, Spike."
It's been almost 7 months now, and the baby is almost here. Fluttershy has been going crazy, along with Spike, who is extremely nervous. He doesn't feel ready or prepared to be a parent. And he is partially scared of Fluttershy. Along with her being scared, and her extreme food cravings (for example; chocolate banana peppers, topped with ketchup), she has had some really bad mood swings. It's not something you'd normally see from her, so when it happened, you'd have to be prepared for the worst. Expect the unexpected. And boy, did he ever. But all in all, they were both excited for their new baby colt, Furball.
"SPIKE, I NEED MORE SPECIAL PEPPERS. IF I DON'T GET THEM RIGHT NOW, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL PAY!" Fluttershy demanded.
"Already on it." He was flying around the cottage, from Fluttershy, to the kitchen, back to Fluttershy, it was chaos. Angl bunny was already on the counter making the Choco-Ketchup Peppers.Spike was flying to the couch get the plate from Fluttershy. Her face was such a bright shade of red, it would match the color of the ketchup. There was a vein popping out from her head and her eyes looked like they would pop out at any second.
"Here you go, my love." He stuttered. He trembled in his place, just in case she didn't want them anymore, which happened often.
"IT'S ABOUT TIME! I NEEDED MY FIX FOR THE AFTERNOON BEFORE MY STRETCHING EXERCISES!" She ripped it and furociously ate it. Oddly, Spike stood there, leaning against the doorway, Angel on the counter. They were all content, until.
"Oh! Uh, 'Shy?"
"What?" She growled.
"Uh, well.. the baby shower is today."
"Oh yay! I'm so excited, Spikey! It's been almost seven months and the baby's almost here!" She said, excitedly, taing Spike by surprise.
"When do you want to leave?"
"When I'm finished, I'll get dressed."
"Are you gonna need my help?"
"Umm... no. I'll wear my maternity dress. Easy to access, easy to put on. And I'll just where my slippers. Thank you for caring so much!" He was on a happy streak
"Are you sure?"
Happy streak over.
"Does this face look unsure to you? Huh? Does it?! That's what I thought. Go get dressed."
"Okay, my love." He quickly said. "Hey, you too. You're part of this family too, ya fuzzball." He nudged to Angel. Spike and Angel don't per say, get along, but this was a special occasion.
Sooner or later, they all left for Sugarcube corner. Spike flew Fluttershy on his back at a slow pace, not wanting her to fall of or panic. But her constant yelling at him to speed up was worse.
"You fly like Bulk Biceps! Go faster! By the time we get there the baby will be born!" She yelled.
"I am trying my absolute hardest, 'Shy." Spike retorted. They contiued on until they got there. The whole way though, Angel Bunny was laughing his head off.
"Did you bring the peppers and ketchup?"
"Check."
"An extra dress?"
"Check."
"The carriage for the gifts?"
"Check."
"Okay, then I think we are ready." She said timidly.
When they walked in. It was dark.
"Surprise!" They all said, except for Pinkie, who yelled it.
"Pinkie, we told you not to yell, you could scare Flutershy, or worse. Make her mad." Twilight said, cringing.
"No Twilight, I think I will be able to control my mood. I had my snack before we came."
"Oh yeah, your 'snack.'" Everpony cringed at the thought of chocolate peppers with ketchup.
"Hey Fluttershy, we have a table dedicated to your snack!" Pinkie pointed out. The smell was atrocious. It was putrid. But to Fluttershy, it was heavenly. She basically levitated over to the table and took a large sniff.
"Alright everybody, let's start this party/baby shower!"
Time passed, and everypony was having fun. Twiight, and Fluttershy were talking about the pregnancy, and Fluttershys eating habit. Rainbow Dash and Applejack had a competition on who could eat the most Choco-Ketchup Peppers, which was short lived,so they tried to find something else. Rarity and Spike talked for awhile, which made Spike feel very old. It felt as if just yesterday, he was assisting Rarity making a dress, trying to work up the nerve to ask her out. Now, he was married, and soon to be a father.
"Alright everypony! Present time!" Pinkie announced.
They all sat in a circle around Spike and Fluttershy, Fluttershy sitting in a chair.
They got a wide variation of presents from everypony. They got a blanket and an apple toy form the Apples. They got a book from Twilight (Hey, it's a pop-up book!) Whatever. They got a rainbow lightning bolt pillow and weight from Rainbow and Soarin. They got a party cannon toy from Pinkie. Two full hand-sewn outfits from Rarity, an awesome cutie mark crusaders cape from the CMC, and a special present from Spike, a giant fluffy dragon stuffed animal.
"Ok everypony, last but not least, the cake cutting ceremony!"
There were two knives, one for Spike, and one for Fluttershy, the each cut a piece for themselves, and sat to eat. Twiight began cutting pieces for everypony else. She took Spikes cake and smooshed hit in his face, which was hilarious. His face was covered. He wiped some cake off and wiped it on her face. They both began to throw their cake at each other.
After another hour, the shower ended, and everypony went home. Spike, Fluttershy, and Angel were happy, excited, and tired. As soon as the got home, they kicked off their shoes, and laid in bed.
"Here's to seven months." He whispered to her. With that, they kissed, and fell asleep.
