Bright Lights, Big Fille.

The sun refracted off the blurry glass window. The birds started chirping their melodious songs just on the other side of the thin glass. I heard the tapping of hooves on my thick oak door. Tap, tap, tap.

‘Pst. Moonshine! Get Up!’ whispered the soft spoken Bubble. Tap, tap, tap. ‘Get up!’ Tap, tap, tap. I pull the covers back up over my head. ‘Pst. MOONSHINE!’ Bubble is getting impatient. Upset that I could not return to bed, I got out of it. Bracing my hooves on the cold wooden floor, I silently crept to my door.

‘Pst. Moonshi-.’ I interrupted her frantic tapping with an open door. She let out a yelp when she fell flatly to the floor.

“Yes little fille? May I help you?” My wings had spread out and lightly fluttered as I waited for an answer.

“Um...” Her eyes wondered around my room. “Mom asked me to...” She started. “She wanted me to get you so you wont be late...” My eyes had widened. I rushed to my bedside and equipped my saddlebags. I piled a few apples and seeds into my pouches. Dipper, my pet owl, hoots to my side.

“Thank you little fille! You are so helpful! Come on Dipper.” I kissed my little sister good bye and galloped down the stairs. “Bye Mom! Bye Dad!” I yelled racing past them.

“Be careful my little pony!” My mother shouted after me. I galloped through the town of Baltimare, shouting ‘hellos’ to every fille and colt that I passed by. A big orange figure stop in the middle of the road.

“Whoa! Watch out!” I tried to stop short, and instead of stopping cool and calm lightly bumping into the any-pony, I instead planted my face into an fruit cart.

“Oh Miss! Are you alright?” This any-pony tried to help me up. “My Name is Applecrisp. And yours?” The colt was sweet, and soft spoken. ‘I can’t believe I have never met him before. I know every-pony around here.’

“Oh, me? My name is Moonshine, Moonshine Splash at your service!” I stuttered quietly. “Did you just move out here? I’ve never seen you before. You like it around here In Baltimare?” I was riddled with questions that needed to be asked. “Oh, I’m sorry. I bet you need help picking up these apples, right?”

“Oh no that’s no trouble. That’s what Fritter is here for.” At the very beacon of his name a large colt popped out from around the corner. “Applefritter! Clean up on every isle!” The lighter orange colt pushed a small bucket around on the ground, picking up the apples.  “So. What’s a fille like you running down this quiet little road for?”

“Oh I was just headed down to Sleepy Seed Acres, to... start....” I looked down at the emblem on the cart. “You’re one of the owners aren’t you?”

“Yeah, I saw you on the farm a couple of days ago. You were talking to Applecider about helping around with the animals and selling the fruits.” He looked down at some of the grape on the ground. He clicked his heel once and Fritter picked it up.

“I’m sorry Applecrisp, Fritter. I was just so excited to get to work I wasn’t paying attention. I’m sorry.” I looked down at the ground and slowly walked away. “See you guys at the Acres then.” After turning the corner I galloped along the road to the edge of town, then up a winding dirt path to Sleepy Seed Acres.

When I got up to the top I was greeted by the Big Pony in charge, Mr. Applecider. “Hello Miss Moonshine. Are you ready to get started with the animals?” He ushered me over to the cow pasture. “This is Mrs. Cups. She is in charge of keeping all the other cows from stampeding.” He moves towards the pig pen. “ This is the pen, we clean it out once a week because we were short staffed. But now we can clean it out twice a week.”

“Well thank you for letting me work here Mr.Applecider. I’m looking forward to being here with you guys everyday! I’ll go get my apron on and start my chores.” I said while pulling a cloth out of my bag. “Dipper, you mind?” Dipper popped out on my bag and tied my apron tight, just like i taught him.

While I was brushing the pig pen out, Applecrisp wandered up towards me. He stood there for a little bit, I pretended not to see him. He started getting a little awkward, Wanting to talk but not finding any words.

“Yes Applecrisp? May I help you?” At this point I was filling a large bucket with water. a small line of pigs waited patiently for a fresh bath, well needed. The soap bubbled up over the side of the bucket.

“Umm... I was coming over here to see if you needed some help with the pigs...” he stammered, all red-faced. “But I guess you don’t so I guess I’ll just leave.”

“No you can stay if you want to, I could use the company.” I finished drying off the first pig gently with my wings. “After this I would like you to show me to the kitchen.” He nodded, inching closer. He tried to help here and there, slowly working himself into the bucket. Soon he had pushed me out entirely to clean the last pig. After I finished drying them off, I asked him to show me to the kitchen.

Fritter had just brought in a couple of buckets of cherries and grapes from the fruit salad trees. (Yes they do exist.) So I asked Apple crisp to clean the first bucket while I made pie dough.

“What smells good in here?” Applecider asked while he trotted from upstairs. He saw me working in the kitchen. “Well, well, well. Our little Miss Moonshine can cook. You might be having a job change soon.”

“Thank you sir, but I really like it here on the farm. I like it better than the city.” The clock chimed six times. “Oops look at the time. I guess I’ll see you all tomorrow! Come on Dipper!” I galloped out of the kitchen and down the path, only slowing to let Dipper pull my dirty apron.

“How was your first day my little pony?” My mother asked, once I opened the door.

“It was... Magical!”
