When his first real day alone with a certain lavender love-interest of his arrives, memories of his frightening past come surging back. Now twenty-four years old, his former men-tee and best friend under the guidance of Princess Celestia Twilight Sparkle (twenty-one) has grown up to be the mare of his deepest desires. Braving bouts of PTSD, a ballad of awkward moments, and the occasional foul weather system, Seymour begins to doubt his worthiness to have a mare like her. But when these warm feelings are mutual, it is up to Twilight to show him just how important he is to her and the rest of the world, one way or another.
