Fallout Equestria: Ravel Melodyby ThebravenorseChaptersPreface:Chapter 1: A strange visitor. (Gramer Fixed)Chapter 2: The Diamonds return. (Gramer Fixed).Chapter 3. Good morning.(Gramer fixed)Preface:(The preface hasn't been edited and is kind of a drag, but if you can just bear through it you will be able to understand the story better) The Diamons we're due home that day. Ravel scribbled a list and emerged from the kitchen with bowls of dandelions and put on a record of some prewar Music and made mental notes of far more tasks than the day could possibly accommodate. Max Diamon would have said that he looked like a small worried bird, with his need to even features, his dark black maine worn short and tidy, his head tilted in deep thought. His eyes were his most intriguing point. Seventeen years slavery working for the diamond family had made them, by turns, sharp and was full and dreamy. Securing a live life with a family of five masters who never harmed him ( as long as he did what he was told) fulfilled one of those dreams. And they were due home today. He decided on dandelion sandwiches and salad for dinner, in case they were late, redeemed buy a starter of hot soup because the Nevada desert had a chill to it this time of year. The family all loved his soups which was one of the many reasons they made him a house slave some years ago. They were do about at six. The words sang in his head, like a blue jay after rain. It had been a long month in this great house without the five of them. I mean yeah sure, there were the other slaves and the guards that patrol the Manor/Plantation and gates but it wasn't the same without the family occupying the house. Ravel thought he knew just how their return would be. Jet diamon, conscious of the responsibility of being 18 and the eldest, would swag through the arched and pillared porch, having one of the slaves carry his mother's luxury suitcase and try not to let it bump the huge prewar doors. Once in the vast hall, he would take the suitcase from the slave and slide it over the chessboard marble floor, just for the hell of it. And then head off to his room to play some of his favorite music from sweetie Bell on his prewar record player. Eight year old Granite diamond would gallop off whooping and flying into the back yard, ( where the slaves were keep far away from) and unintentionally smashing a path through his mother's flowers, then back to the house, in search of food, drink and anything else really. 14 year old, Daisy diamond, by contrast, would wander in and be given glances buy all the guards and slave staff as her hips sway back and forth. (much to her fathers disapproval) just for the fun of being noticed and then get some of the slaves to do whatever pointless tasks she would order. The three children had stayed with their parents during their trip to the Griffin slave company on the border of what was West Equestria to learn the trade of their parents. Ravel suspected the children hadn't minded the long trip, preferring the freedom of the world to the confines of the mansion. Which was something he would never experience. Next, 45 year old mom, Jewel diamond would trot in, mind set over some irritation that happened back at the slave company business meeting, and feeling Travel weary after the long train ride from the Griffin slave company near the ruins of, Filly Delphia to the slave town of, old Apple Loosa. where she probably complained the entire trip and criticize everything and everypony or Griffin there. Finally, the real, moment would arrive and Max diamond would be home. He would stand in silhouette in the double door way, cases in his magic grip not letting the slaves (are as he called us workers) lift a single one which was one of the many reasons why Ravel respected him. His long shadow would fall halfway across the black and white marble floor and Ravel would greet him with a "Hello master did you enjoy your trip". Not daring to make eye contact and he would respond by saying "I enjoyed it greatly" and with one hoof he would move my head to meet his gaze and continue with " you may look me in the eye we are friends remember". Which is how he treated us as friends, fellow ponies, equals which surprised and sicked some of the other slave owners in the town. but all the same it would make Ravels heart open up like a rose at the kindness. He would smile and nod "Thank you Master Max". And everything would be perfect again. So Ravel swept through his day, as happy as a child on hearts warming. Only none of it happened the way he dreamed. ..... Home was Diamond Manor with its hauntingly Victorian style, its pretentious tower over the porch, its multiplicity of Windows suggesting a maze of rooms and corridors. Through the sand and long dead trees and smaller barely matchable buildings in the town Diamond Manor would stand out as if Luna herself walked into a peasant town. In the 11 years he had lived there, Ravel had grown to feel himself at one with the history, fastening possessively on to this family as background to fill the void in his own. He was only 5 or 8 when he was taken away by slavers from his home and had never really new, nor remembered his parents all he knew was that he came from somewhere around the ruins of Canterlot. The Diamond family claimed to be the descendants of the original founders of Appaloosa and were once a part of some big family who helped found Equestria known as the Apple family. But that void wasn't really there anymore, because he loved the house and his work in it.... Right? But in any case or at the very least he was satisfied with his life. He had a home, a roof over his head, food in his gut, and not that strict masters. Oh and all the poetry and books he could ever read thanks to Master max for teaching him to read and giving him access to the Manors library. So he had it pretty good. A lot better than most of the other slaves in Appaloosa. And with his confidence in his situation restored, he awaited the families return. Chapter 1: A strange visitor. (Gramer Fixed)(Some where near old AppleLoosa) ..... *BLAM!* A gun shot brought Melody lunging to his hoofs, grabbing for his guns. He could hear the stampede! of ponys as they scrambled to find cover. The camp was filled with screams and yelling! And all Melody could think of doing was to get the HELL out of there. He could just make out hooded ponys in the distance, all wearing long dusters, and all with guns in their magic, He could hear the cries of wounded stallions as his crew was being shot too pieces."I should have placed more stallions on guard", Melody said allowed But there was no time left for thinking what could have been. He jumped up behind one of the Raiders and hammered blows at the stallion, knocking him out completely. Melody fumbled for the exit to the camp. Then something struck him on the side of the head and the last thing he remembered was reaching for a metal track. Then everything went black. ______________________ (Diamond Manor) Ravel was in the Manors library reading one of his favorite poems. Because of you my world is now whole, Because of you love lives in my soul. Because of you I have laughter in my eyes, Because of you I am no longer afraid of goodbyes..... ... Then Ravel heard a knock on the door and even though he was in the library he was assigned to be the greeter. (Even though it would make much more sense to have one of the guards, guarding the door to open it). So he trotted out of the room, down the stairs, through the hall, and towards the door. There waiting for him was commander: Sapphire, a orange coated and Brown Mained unicorn who was in charge of the diamond family guard. "About time you got here" she said with a impatient tapping of her hoof. Ravel mentally rolled his eyes."yes well, would it not make more sense for you to open the door?" She stepped dangerously close with a angry scowl on her face."Is that back talk I'm hearing; SLAVE!" "No I merely was using Creative criticism". He took a nervous step back but she stepped closer. "Creative criticism?". She questioned shaking her head."I have no clue to why Master max taught you to read, I mea-" She was cut off by a knock at the door. The two had completely forgotten the reason they were there in the first place. She look to the door and back to him and growled."This conversation isn't over until you remember your place". And with that she pointed towards the door and walked off into the house. Ravel cursed under his breath and open the door with a big smile. But the smile quickly turned into a forced one because at the door was a large Griffin, with black and red feathers, dressed in a duster and a very menacing looking combat shotgun swung around his shoulder. The Griffin looked down at the pony with his Eagle like eyes scanning him."I am here to speak to the masters of this home". Ravel swallowed nervously and asked."For what purpose might I ask" "Business". He simply stated. Business, Ravel new all too well what that word meant around here. Business was Street for slave trade negotiations this Griffin was a slaver that was clear. "I'm sorry but the Diamond family left to go do business a month ago and they should have been back by now" Ravel stepped out of the way and offered the Griffin to enter the house."But I'm sure they won't be that much longer would you care to come inside and wait" The Griffin shook his claw."No thank you just tell Max that I will be waiting for for him and need to talk". Ravel raised an eyebrow."Should I leave a name or address?" The Griffin shook his head and turn around."No he'll know who it is and where to go". And with that he took to the night sky. Ravel shut the door and laughed awkwardly."This town never gets boring that's for sure". He thought and trotted back towards the library wondering where his masters could be and why they were late. _______ (Foot note: Level up, new perk added; your love for poetry and knowledge gives you a intelligence +5.) (Gramer Fixed). The next day, Ravel had woken up to the sound of the front door slamming open and the sounds of hoofs running and yelling from down stairs. He could make out the voices of the Diamond family, commander: Sapphire, and another voice that sounded familiar but couldn't put a hoof on it. Ravel pulled the sheets off him and trotted to the bathroom where he had a few essentials that his masters gave to him. He quickly brushed his teeth and combed his maine then proceeded to the door to his room and rushed downstairs to where he found mistress Jewel complaining really loud about something to master max who was complaining right back to her. The kids must have went to there bedrooms because as far as Ravel could see they weren't there. Master Max noticed Ravel out of the corner of his eye and nodded to him to come forth. He did so and Master Max brought him close so that he could speak in his ear what about the other guards hearing him."Ravel, how have you been my friend".He said puting a hoof on his shoulder. Ravel didn't take long to reply."I am fine master but might I ask what's going on?." Max looked over to his wife who was discussing something with commander: Sapphire to which Sapphire was more than displeased with by the look on her face. And then looked back to Ravel."My friend we have a situation and I need your help, can you help me". It was more as a reinsurance of trust, then a question. I nodded (like I had a choice in the matter). He gave a small smile."Thank you" then he called over one of the slaves to bring too chairs. We both took a seat and he began to tell me what happened. "Well we were coming back from our trip to the Griffin slave company. It was pouring down rain and the misses wouldn't shut up the entire train ride". We both shared a laugh then he got serious and continued. "We were a few miles outside of Appaloosa and then without a warning the train grinded to a halt and poor little Grandent was almost thrown across the train cart if it hadn't been for his brother grabbing him in mid air". Max put his hoof up to his eyes in iteration then continued."I was so worried that it could have been train Raiders so instinctively I pulled out my pistol and told the kids and Jewel to hide under the seats, as I went to check out the situation." I was on the edge of my seat never before have I heard something so action packed unless it came out of a book, but this was real life. "So what happened next!". I yelled then put a hoof over my mouth realizing my outburst. Master Max merely chuckled at my excitement then resumed his story."Well I went through all the karts until I got to the conductors booth where lieutenant: Strong Horn and two of my other guards bickering about something on the tracks. So I ask them what the situation was and they told me that a ponys body was spread across it". I raise an eyebrow."If it was just a body then why all the big fuss, why not just run over it?" "Well that's what I asked". He tilted his head towards where lieutenant: Strong was standing."But apparently somepony felt sympathetic and respectful. But that's besides the point, and the point is that the pony was alive!" Alive? that's crazy that pony must have been out in the open for hours. I thought. He continued when he saw the bemused look on my face."Yes well he was and is. So we took him in the train, went to town got a doctor, and now he's upstairs in one of the guest bedrooms". "WHAT!". I caught myself after I saw the disapproving look on his face."Sorry master I spoke out of turn". I looked down. He lifted my head to meet his gaze."It is fine and I appreciate your concern but everything is under control the doctor says he will be fine, he just took some bullets to his leg and a hit to his head but he will recover shortly and during this recovery time I want you to be his personal caretaker because the rest of us are far too busy AND I trust you". I was overjoyed that he trusted me but was also nervous. What kind of a pony is a, why was he injured, what is his occupation? these thoughts course through my head. "Um yes sir I will do my best". I smiled nervous. He smiled back."I no you will, now go and get some rest you'll need it for tomorrow. I was confused but then looked over his shoulder and noticed that it was still night then nodded, addressed the others in the room with respectful nods and went upstairs. I passed by the new ponies door, stood there for a minute, then proceeded to my room. Goddesses tomorrow will be a long day. Chapter 3. Good morning.(Gramer fixed)Light shined through the blinds of the 3rd floor window, in the; Diamond Manor. A Brown stallion groaned in his sleep, pulling the covers over his head, trying to tell the Sun to go away. But to no avail sunlight still got through the sheets. Groaning in disapproval he pulled the sheets off him and sat up in bed. Rubbing his hooves in his eyes to clear away the sand-ponys spell, he took in his surroundings. The room was a rich light blue color and the flooring was a nice hard wood, the furniture in the room consisted of a Queens size bed, a bookshelf field with obviously books, a small nightstand by the bed and a bathroom that you had to go through a door to get to. So all in all it was pretty damn nice by wasteland standards. Melody gave out a long whistle."Nice Digs".He said aloud. "Wait! Where am I". Melody said. He quickly tried to get off the bed but pain coursed through his legs and quickly sat back down. Looking at them he noticed the bandages wrapped around his hooves, the previous day's events raced to his mind like a rabbit running from dogs. He remembered the attack on his camp, being shot in the legs, and lastly being picked up by three large stallions dressed in black combat armor who put him on a train. Then everything went black. I got to get out of here, he thought. Again he tried to push himself all of the bed but once again failed to do so as pain course through him."Fuck".He whispered. Maybe if I crawl over to the window I-. His thoughts were cut off by a knock at the door. "Um, a-are you awake".He heard a nervous but smooth voice on the other side of the door. 1 minute. 2 minutes. 3 minutes... he remained quiet. But to his dislikenss the door handle turned and the door creaked open; to reveal a white black mained head and big blue eyes looking at him with uncertainty. But that uncertainty quickly turned into a obvious nervous smile. Then Melodys unlikeness quickly turned into intrigued when the door opened fully to reveal a nice, sleek, small build, and most importantly; a sexy PLOT! colt. The pony walked slowly close to the side of his bed (still grinning) and held out a hoof."Hello my name is Ravel, whats yours?". Melody hesitated, then shook his hoof; but didn't say anything. After the shake; this good looking stallion whose name Melody now new was Ravel took a step back. Awkwardness feeled the room as neither one of them said a word as they looked around the room avoiding each other's eyes. To Melodys relief Ravel spoke again with that smooth voice. "I see that you don't feel like talking but can I bring you breakfast, then afterwards can you tell me your name?". Melody nodded and Revels face lit up."Great! So I'll be right back". Revel turn around and begin trotting towards the door, Melody blushed as he watch Revels hips sway back and forth."Wait? is he doing that on purpose"He thought."No..no of course not... Right?". Revel reached the door and turned his head around. Melody quickly turned his head blushing madly for being caught staring. Revel just grinned and walked out the door shutting it behind him. Melody could have sworn he heard a happy chuckle on the other side of the door. _____________ Melody= (Foot note: Level up, new perk added; you're trained eye gives you a +5 perception, just don't use that talent on plots next time.) But to his dislikenss the door handle turned and the door creaked open; to reveal a white black mained head and big blue eyes looking at him with uncertainty. _____________ Melody= (Foot note: Level up, new perk added; you're trained eye gives you a +5 perception, just don't use that talent on plots next time.)
